ETA for Nougat 7.1.1 on the Huawei P10 Plus? - Huawei P10 Plus Questions & Answers

Hi,
Does anyone know when we can expect to get 7.1.1 on the Plus?
I'm interested due to the battery improvements brought by 7.1.1.
Thanks!

wondering same here flagship with slow updates like my axon 7 mini

TBH I don't think there will be Android 7.1.1 at all since around September the first devices will already receive Android O and hopefully from that point on it won't be long until we do, too.

How long will it take for us to get Android 8? Care to guesstimate?

Well I'm GUESSING (and hoping!) it will be around November but then again if I look at how long it took Huawei to eventually update all devices with Android 7 it might as well be later than that. It of course also depends which corner of the world you live in. The Europe version of the P9 Plus for example, which I had before the P10 Plus, has received 7 only in MARCH (!) this year... I really hope they are gonna do it more quickly than that this time.

Thanks! I also live in Europe and hope that Huawei get their **** together and update my P10 Plus to Android O in 2017, not in 2018.
The P10 Plus really needs the battery improvements and other under the hood tweaks brought by Android O.

My bet is that it will receive Android O around December/January.
Most probably the Mate 10 will come with Android O, and from there, we have to wait 3-4 months for last generation of devices to update.
The same story was last year, with the Mate 9 announced with Nougat and the P9 and Mate 9 updated later in December.

Will huawei upgrade it to Marshmallow??

Was wondering if Huawei has announced that they will upgrade Honor 7 to marshmallow. I have never used any Huawei device and am interested in Honor 7 so want to know how is Huawei in terms of SW upgrades etc. Does anyone in here has any experience of previous Huawei devices. I am really keen to know this as ROM development and SW upgrades are probably the most important aspects of a device's future.
Yes all Huawei flagships will get updated, while non flaships will get at lesser priority as well..
But they won't release as quick.. Rather depending on stability of the new android itself the update will delay and they will release it timed with release of their next flagship. So somewhere from January 2016 to May 2016.. That said, since Huawei is manufacturing this year's nexus things might be different.
As Warea said, we'll have the update.
I think google is going to surprise us with this new Android version, doing a global release for a lot of devices on Day 1.
Rumor says that Samsung has already the update ready for S6/S6Edge/Note4, .... And LG too. It's possible that this year, Google worked with manufacturers to make a global release for Android M because one of the things that Apple users are proud of is that every iOS device is updated at the same time with the same version. I think Google wants to fix that with Android.
We'll see !
is possible, but i doubt it, because on every android version, huawei must include emui new version, and they're veeeery slow making updates . honor 6 waiting lollipop yet in european version, and android m launches at end of this month...
no news yet on android 6, but the chinese editions of honor 7 are getting android 5.1 beta tests. http://cn.club.vmall.com/thread-4989272-1-1.html

Huawei updates really fast. They should release emui 4.0 marshmallow for honor 7 earliest by 2017 or maybe 2018 around the time they release the lollipop source code for honor 6.

If you look at last year most of phone brands were quick to announce upgrades to lollipop but they delivered only 2nd quarter of this year, while the few who updated quick were left with lollipop bugs.
I'm in no hurry to android 6 because many of the features are already on emui.. So I rather prefer a properly optimized and bug free update, plus significant changes on emui enough to make it feel like an update.
Honor 6
Let's look at the good, the bad and the horrible worst..
The GOOD -
good built up design and hardware
At good price...
Awesome high end specs
Smooth working never lags
Charges superfast..
It's been a year to own a huawei honor 6 and it's still the same as newly purchased.. Quite happy with the product and fully satisfied And I'm upgrading to honor seven.. Just go for it. N its the best available in the market at this stage
The BAD-
-NO SOFTWARE UPDATES needs some improvements in software but no updates provided in India secondly no OTA updates you need to stress yourself to know how exactly to download and install softwares.
-Delayed updates... We hear Google talking about Marshmallow where as lollipop is on the verge and honor devices still running on kitkat.. Yes, lollipop updates were provided to download and install but manually and bro it's time for marshmallow and we here were dying to receive lollipop (stable) yet..
-Indian versions are not provided with the features available to Chinese versions.. Not 64gb storage available no dual Sim available
-Cloud storage available only in China
For honor 7 I guess marshmallow would be available in next year Q1
The horrible WORST -
It's not at all a loyal brand
I can purely tag Huawei as "use and throw" device because,
-WORST customer service support
If anything happens to the device after purchasing it... You just need to dump it in the garbage bin (service centre) without having a hope of recycle and getting it back so just forget the past and look for a new one..
So if you wanna avoid such circumstances you got to handle with care
Else it works great smooth efficient.. User friendly... Great specs and awesome built..
So if you are a person frequently updating your handset go for it.. But if you are a long term user suggest you to go for some good branded devices..
Just my opinion.. And no offence meant.. Sorryyyy
My newsfeed showed me following page.

donĀ“t know how credible this is and whether it also affects the other H7 versions.

No.... I received one update that was for emui 3.0 that's all and I hear lots of people updating their firmware but they do that manually.. And not OTA update so I get stuck as I didn't know how to do such updates manually..
But honor 7.. Marshmallow beta would be available from Jan I suppose..

What I feel is.. It's pointless in waiting for M update because it's skin emui 3.0 takes it all over the material design and I feel emui is awesome if they keep updating emui..
The lollipop update in honor 6 didn't have much change as the design would remain emui..

Sorry sir It may be nonsense for people having technical knowledge
And I'm sorry but I forgot to mention earlier that all the firmware updates were never officially by Huawei for "h60 L04" model (Indian variant) if you check out the official website of honor India there are no updates but when you check updates for Chinese model then you will find many software updates on their official site for honor 6 but none of them would end with model "h60 L04"
So on that part I told that there are no updates
Honor confirmed on twitter that the Honor 7 will be updated to 6.0 in Q1 2016.
Date not confirmed for the 6+.

PLK-XX is Honor 7 where XX stands for different regional versions. It's the same with P8, the EU version (L01) is not on the list, probably because this list is not intended for European readers!
Marshmallow Will arrive in january 2016.

I've put my name down (via Honor's PR agency), and once you give your IMEI you'll be sent an OTA update automatically once it's ready. I'll let you all know the progress, but believe there will be a requirement NOT to share the code with others so please don't ask me to extract the files and release the ROM.
Of course, I'm sure someone will...

Has Huawei abandoned Honor 7?

The last update for PLK-L01 is B380 with security patches dated back to 1 August 2016. (I received the OTA in September/October)
It's February 2017 now.
Can we do something to urge Honor to be clear about their support plan?
Because it would be a shame that this device had no support after only one year of his life. ( 1 year !!! )
I'm not even talking about EMUI 5 because at this point there's very little hope but I will be very disappointed if there won't be any further updates. For sure I'll think twice before buying/recommending Huawei phones.
Sorry but I had to vent a bit.

I totally agree with you. It would be especially a shame because Honor promised a 2 year Update guarantee.
I don't think we can do anything about this situation the only answer we would get would be a "We are always trying our best" and so on.
Actually....Seem official that won't be any Nougat release (due to hw compatibility).... at the same time it's possible a porting of emui 5 features (split screen and other stuff) to an update for the divices that can't support Android 7 as H7.
This should include also fresh security patch, but I don't think we'll see this famous update before the summer.
All this is what I could understand, in totally unofficial way from the leaking of Honor support...
So let's hope.... something will arrive, but naturally to upgrade H7 and all the devices still young but that can't support Nougat; it isn't exactly at the top of the list for Honor now...
Anyway yes, H7 isn't a lucky smartphone; it have good hw; it run smooth and fast, and could deserve more....
....After all, I came from a Nexus 5; so I was use to have always fresh sw; and to have it before any other ......To tell the truth I don't care so much anymore, untill my H7 is running well (as now), software upgrade won't be a crazy pb.

Well i'm not even mad for not getting Android 7 and i am okay with that. But it would be nice if we could get some features from EMUI 5 at least. Let's see what the future brings us.
not officially at least: support should be granted for another 6 months, but don't expect much more than a few fixes and a security patch.... my guess is: tiny update with January security patch in the next few weeks, then a final small farewell update in summer.
further software development is out of the question IMHO. huawei just don't seem to learn from their past mistakes...

I Agree, could be a way...
...In all this, i think that is more bad luck with the last Nougat API not supported than any laziness or few interess in the developing...
But I agree another time that if Huawei/Honor want to fight with the top brands, they have to start to better follow their devices, or at least to have a clear policy on releasing update; without confusion or heavy bugs over major release.

People buying Huawei are the ones not learning LOL
But the problem AFAIK is that Honor 7 soc won't support Vulcan, which is required to get a official nougat build from a manufactorer accepted by google.
I have UL00 model and I'm using stable B386 from 01/12/2017. Security patch from 01/01/2017.
I'm just saying this version might come to other models too.
If you want to get security updates, get an iPhone.
Android is a totally insecure system due to the way Google had signed the manufacturers up. It always gets security updates several months later, and after a year and half you can throw your phone away or remain with your insecure system.
android N is nothing diff to android 6

I beg to differ... samsung s4 (2013) is on jan 2017 security patch, and even the cheap xiaomi mi2 (2012) has the same january 2017 update... personal experience.
so you don't need to have an iphone to get a decently long lasting software support.
among the top producers, it's just huawei that keeps disappointing its customers. and the joke is on us, since we still fall for it...

Thanks for the feedback, but you are just confirming the TOTAL mess android is.
My Samsung s3 had very bad support. It took months for security fixes to land after being released by Google.
And even worse for my Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1 tablet. After 12 months no support anymore. And for security updates it was a 6 months wait at best.
My HTC phone was very bad also. 6 months at best for security updates and no support anymore after 18 months.
So, as you say sometimes you can get lucky with some devices BUT YOU WILL NEVER KNOW IN ADVANCE if your phone will be supported correctly or not.
I'm currently still on Android because I like the OS, but as it is such an unsecure unsupported platform I think I'll jump ship to iPhone next.

it sure is impossible to foresee for how long a smartphone will be supported, but huawei has given us plenty of reasons in the last years to at least doubt their policy.
p6, p7 were a real shame, especially being the latter a bit pricey for a huawei; p8, mateS and h7 are the latest victims. and these are just the ones I personally know about. only h6 has had a fairly good support, especially for the price.
now I'm not saying samsung is perfect, they are far from it... (and I don't want to take into account tablets because it's true, android pretty much sucks when it comes to tablets and updates... :/ ) but since you came up with the s3 model, well that was a very hardware limited model... one of the last pre-JB models, with 1gb of ram only... especially with KK all the 1gb models became obsolete... but if you take the lg g1 that was commercialised only 4-5 months later with 2gb, it lived long enough to be updated from ICS to JB and finally to KK.
LG G2-G3-G4 are all receiving small updates from time to time, even if they are mainly only security fixes, but honestly it's the same thing happening with iphones, old models don't get the new features, just small fixes.
same with S4-S5-S6; not sure about M7, but I can guarantee for M8 and M9. Xiaomi still updates a lot of models from 2012-2013.
final words: among the big ballers, there's just one brand that keeps fooling its customers, and that's huawei/honor.
h7/p8/mateS are all 2015 devices... 2015... and h7's support has been dead for 7 months already... it's a shame!
Honor 7 will never updated to android 7.0, mb will coming some minor updates from vendors, mb..Last hope is only developers) imho
yes, they have abandoned us. From now never buy honor product.

Honor/Huawei
I had HTC phones in the past, then LG G2 and then changed to H7. I was very satisfied with it, because of smooth running, but when they announced that it wont get new update to nougat I was very dissappointed. Because it was clear then that there will be no updates, at least not any big updates. Its not old phone with good HW. And because of that I decided for iphone. No complaint till now, I have it for 6 months.
Answer AFAIK is nope, since Huawei/Honor only deliver one major update, and they did it "recently" (2016-09 according to their site) on Western Europe (PLK-L01) (probably the last wave who recieved it) with Android Marshmallow. But, the 5 and 6X recieved it.

will mate 8 get emui 5.1 ?

p10 was released with 5.1 the reviews tells when comparing with mate 9 using the same processor the p10 with 5.1 was a lot faster. Looking forward to similiar performance boost with mate 8.
I am still impressed with the performance boost that the emui 5.0 from 4.0 did bring, feels like the phone has been reborn.

EMUI is still Android. 7.0 tough
true, but emui 5.1 has improved touch and machine learning algorithm (app/user behaviour prediction) implemented, which makes the user experience a LOT faster and smoother. i would love to see emui 5.1 on the mate 8

Apps is supposed to open a lot faster in 5.1
I read the presentation now for 5.1.
It says apps will open 30 percent faster thanks to their new technology called ultra memory.
Also response times is alot faster Thanks to a new driver it will be as responsive as iPhone they claim
Let them update it to EMUI 5.0 first! They were supposed to release it in Jan and it is March and we are still waiting.

I'll have to double check, but I remember reading a release from Huawei, stating the Mate 8 would receive Android 7 sometime
"in the first quarter" of 2017. If that is the case, they have til March 31st.
When I had the Mate2, they stated the update to Lollipop 5.0 would be by the end of the 2nd quarter of 2015. They released it on June 30th.
Why would they give now?
They may update in future. Let's see
hoping for the best

I got 7.0 with 5.0 OTA about a month ago. Loving my mate 8 again..
EMUI 5.0 (7.0) seems to be a battery drain, looking forward to getting EMUI 5.1 (7.1.2)
I presume we get A7.1/E5.1 in August. And Android O before end of the year (optimistic), or January (realistic).

Yes I will have to agree with you... makes no sense to release 5.1 now when O is around the corner..better but energy into that... 5.1 was more interesting a half year ago..

Any news on 7.1.1?

Anybody heard any news/rumors on when Honor 8 will get 7.1.1 release? Also, is 7.1.1 EMUI 5.1 or is EMUI 5.1 a separate release?
Axon 7 got its 7.1.1 update last week!
Lol, theirs been nothing from Honor for the US H8 sense January. All that's expected from here is a security patch and that's about it.

I agree. I've seen no signs that Honor has any honor regarding the make believe agreement with XDA (and their customers), but I'd love to be shown how wrong I am ;
Really bad. I bought Honor trusting they will be better at updates. If they don't, then it's to break that trust. OnePlus seems better off now in updates as well (along with Axon 7).
The L-04 is neglected if we are being honest here. The other models got that update to fix the battery issue on Nougat but then we have the L-04 still with a December 1 security update. The others have January...
Still a wonderful phone just that sometimes models get neglected while the others get the updates. However, I hear that they do all their testing in the Chinese forums where a 7.1 build is also.

I have the L14 really like the phone but Nougat and EMUI 5 has been disastrous for my battery life. Huawei communication is completely non-existent and disappointing. I am thinking of going back to MM and hopefully they'll fix the battery life. Unfortunately this has left a bitter taste so my next phone may be something else.
Might as well forget about 7.1.1 and hope it gets 7.1.2 at this point. By the time we get an update there will be Android O.
According to HuaweiEMUI page on Facebook(sorry I can't post url because I'm new to here), EMUI 5.1 won't be offered to honor 8 for now, however Huawei will release an update after June this year which includes fixes and feature enhancements.
Yeah updates for Honor 8 was a big letdown, my last honor device for sure.

So Honor 8 not getting 5.1 or get 5.1 after June? I just need them to solve the terrible battery life on my L14 on B360. This device has been excellent but their "2 year" to upgrades and updates is highly questionable.
To be fair, since honor use their own chip, it will take longer to update. But I'm agree, I expected better from honor, especially after their partnership with xda

Hi @breezyhill
https://www.facebook.com/HuaweiEMUI/
EMUI Unfortunately, EMUI 5.1 will not be offered to devices that have EMUI 5.0, EMUI 4.1 or lower systems for now. Some of the new functions from EMUI 5.1 will be built into a debugged, featured-enhanced version of EMUI 5.0 that will be released after June 2017. Stay tuned.
EMUI Hi all, at present we cannot provide a definite date on the release for your devices. However, the Android N (EMUI 5.0) updates will be available for Mate 8, P9, P9 Plus, P9 Lite, Honor 8, Honor 6X, Nova, and Nova Plus. If your phone is one of these mentioned, rest assured that we are actively developing and testing the N update to ensure the best performance for you. Thank you for your understanding and patience
I recently got the Honor 8, they need to push out the B380 update to USA users, at least give us some security patches.

It's bad that your having to ask for this as it was Honor USA that worked with XDA to promise two years of updates.
U should go onto Honor USA Google+ group to hassle them for your updates.
Remind them that it was then that made this promise

Hi Luis, EMUI 5.1 will not be offered to devices that have EMUI 5.0, EMUI 4.1 or lower systems for now. Please be assured that some of the new EMUI 5.1 features will be incorporated into a debugged and enhanced EMUI 5.0 release that will be released after June 2017. Thank you for your understanding and patience. stay tuned

Honor 8 removed from list from interview with CEO

Hi guys.
I earlier posted an interview with Honor CEO George Zhao that the Honor 8 was confirmed to be recieveing the 8.0 Oreo update.
But since then, the Honor 8 has been removed from the devices which Zhao listed who are being updated.
What are your guys thoughts?

It could mean that even he isn't sure which models are actively testing Oreo or they haven't even started testing it. Until it's put through some type of early tests, they can't release any info.
Haha let's start speculation again.
You right.
I am assuming that he is very well aware of what's the Honor plan in near future. On the other hand it might be later found inconvenient for Huawei to let spread the official statement about last year Honor flagships -
Honor 8 and 8 Pro - are about to receive Oreo which might have significant impact on both Huawei and Honor new models sales (like still mentioned Honor 9 and V9). I think they will release official statement (now they surely have to) after Christmas, probably January 2018, about releasing Oreo for those phones in Q1 of 2018. Who knows Honor would then expect the release of OTA about April to May of 2018 practically.
While there is still a small chance that Huawei could even stop the release of the update if they are afraid of new models sales., I don't think they will play that card for good reason - credibility in the eyes of potential customers.
Where is that list, and where did you got this from?

I think that's an excellent argument, it's very possible that their reasoning is a new OS on an older phone will affect sales of a new phone. Wait a few months after the release of your new phone and then push out Oreo to the older phone. The marketing people may be in charge of this theory.

B398 OTA for L09C432 was pushed recently, and
some Croatian users reported B399 started to appear.
B398 includes November security patch.
B399 includes December security patch.
A new one, B401 just appeared on Firmware Finder, I suppose, according to the size, that it is nougat with January security patch.
So, even if I wish there were monthly updates for security, we have security updates.

They do it all the time, after this the FRD-L09 models won't see updates for a while and all the other models will recieve updates. They did this before and I'm pretty sure they'll do it again. I just don't get why Honor doesn't have one universal model number for all regions like OnePlus or Google.

this is why you stop supporting them. i have im just waiting to see what the new Sony phones look like but im just itching to buy a oneplus 5t. i bought 3 1+5s for my family but due to the front facing fingerprint reader i passed.
the 5t seems great aside from the lack of expandable storage so i hope the new Sony phones look good.

The reason I really like this phone is cause I got it on Black Friday last year with a bunch of accessories. The price I got it for was alot lesser than OnePlus at that time and honestly for me the current build is pretty stable for my usage (Teen with bunch of social media, YouTube and games).

sony is great on software in fact its the best due to its large adds a large amount of code to aosp. they use vanilla ui with optimization and if they use a skin its easy to remove thanks to rro.
all oems should follow sony's ui methods. no one likes themes that are hard coded, they just suck! what im hoping is that google bakes security updates into treble so that they can be downloaded through the playstore in the future.
About two weeks ago I sent an Email to the honor support. I asked them about their once made promise to update the honor 8 for at least two years after the release. The answer was that the two years support would only include security updates. They wouldnt give any comment on oreo. I would guess it is rather unlikely that we will get an update to oreo for our device.
