Yep, about on time with what they said after the Mate 10 release.
Wonder how long til the rest of the versions of the 9 will get it?
The EMUI 8.0 update is currently not available as an OTA but can be manually downloaded to the phone. Supported Mate 9 versions are listed below:
Mate 9 MHA-AL00
Mate 9 Full Netcom Version MHA-TL00
Mate 9 Pro Full Netcom Version LON-AL00
Mate 9 Porsche Edition

Interesting I'm on beta test and there's no pc mode or scene recognition on that, maybe they've added them in final release

Looks like the update is being rolled out to AL00's which are in China. I have this model but can't see the update in HiCare probably because I am not in China.

The AI recognition is only available for the Huawei Mate 10/10 Pro, because kirin 960 doesn't have AI intelligence.
