Galileo Positioning System Support - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

Hey there,
has someone heard whether the Oneplus 5 supports the Galileo positiong system? As the Snapdragon 835 supports Galileo I would suggest, but the Snapdragon 834 also did support Galileo but the Oneplus 3 for example didn´t.
So if anyone got any news, let´s discuss them here

Tomorrow will be even hotter i`am afraid. Here is a list of devices supporting Galileo atm http://www.usegalileo.eu/EN/inner.html#data=smartphone and chipsets.

Specs page shows: GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou. If the 835 already supports it maybe it can be added later via a software update? Until they officially list it I would say the answer is no.

Only chance is to make a screenshot from actual phone from some GPStest or GPS status app. Every page list different specs.

Thanks for posting. I read in a Finnish forum one guy posting that his phone had found one Galileo satellite. That sounded promising but at the same time odd that only one satellite was found. (Unless he tested it indoors.) Did you test the Galileo satellite reception outdoors?

Could you elaborate little your testing method? How long did you wait until the Galileo satellite was found, was it outdoors etc. At the moment it seems that OP5 might have a partial Galileo support but for some reason it doesn't work well. (Galaxy S8 found four Galileo satellites immediately.)

Sorry, my English isn't good enough for it.
Now tested again and found 4 satellites outdoor (clear sky), and as I see it is more accurate than OP3. Tested same time same place. I don't have much time right now because of my job.

can you please post a screenshot of the galileo sattelites on opo 5?

I posted a question about the Galileo support at Oneplus chat. The customer service guy didn't have an answer but he asked from their tech support. Finally he received an answer and the Galileo is not officially supported. I'm glad to find out that it still seems to be unofficially working even though Oneplus does not officially support it.

What's your accuracy reading after staying at a standstill for a while? My OP3 reports 4,5 meters. I would like to know how much more accurate the OP5 with supposed Galileo positioning system is.

Just flash it dude. With flashtool with generic firmware and you will receive update for generic phones.

From what I have heard others had issues after flashing generic on the D6616.
I don't know about the Z3 but for some other devices like the LG G2 flashing firmware of a 16GB device on a 32GB one reduced the storage by half and it's a mess trying to get that back.

You've lost me.
Especially with your automatically entered signature, indicating that even though you say you have all three, you are for some reason using your Z3 to say how much better the Z2 is? You really prefer the speakers all at one end?

GALILEO gnss costellation support

I got my Xiaomi Mi A1 last week
I noticed there is no support for GALILEO gnss (at teat according to the app "GPS test")
According to Qualcomm the sd625 does supporto GALILEO in conjuction with Android Nougat
Are we gonna experience the same situation as for the LTE bands support from Cinese manufacturers?!?!?
Is there some way to hack the Qualcomm GPS module firmware thus enabling the GALILEO costellation?!?!?
regards
Up. I have the same question, Snapdragon says that 625 is compatible with Galileo but Xiaomi doesn't have it in the list so who is right or it's the OEMs task to integrate the support?
In europe is ok, i see 4-6 galileo satelites.

GNSS VIEW just shows you the supposed position of the satellites....like a sky map does with the stars
The satellites are shown according to agps data
the embedded gps is used only to know your position and then show the satellites that are supposed to be in your sky area
I've tested this GNSS view and it shows the Galileo satellites even on my Nexus 5x, but the sd808 DOES NOT SUPPORT GALILEO
Yeah, tested with several tools now...Galileo satellites not visible/found. So it's up to Xiaomi to enable Galileo support via firmware update...
We need more people posting in official Xiaomi forum for to request Galileo support.

I don't think that, after the stock that you get when you buy the phone, ALL the updates would have some bugs and they will resolve in future updates !

Got New OP8Pro, Will I lose IR camera if I update 10.5.7 > 10.5.11?

Also how different is the effect after updating?

Photochrome effect is still there. But limited under artifficial light. Output is practicaly same outdoors, under natural light conditions.
Technically it uses now combination of main sensor and IR sensor, before it uses only IR sensor.

My advice is to not update from the old 10.5.7 and 10.5.8 if you want the full power of the IR camera because the company if fu''n with us and pushing a fake updates to disable the hardware we paid for.
I am looking for the old OFFICIAL ROM V. 10.5.7 to downgrade if anyone can help me on this.

You can use this unbrick tool to downgrade to 10.5.5(Global) or, in my case, 10.5.8 (EU)
Don't forget to backup your persist.img before flashing. It's not necessary if you aren't going to flash a ROM for different region. But hey, it's better safe than sorry, right?
I was saved from losing FP scanner once because I backed it up first.

There's not much of comparison between the OLD&REAL and the NEW&FAKE photochrom out there.
But I found this one from Android Authority that makes me decided to not go to 10.5.10
(Sorry, I can't post outside link.) Just google for "OnePlus 8 Pro’s color filter camera is now almost useless indoors" and pick one from androidauthority.com
Apparently, the new photochrom is very close to "some kind of" Sepia filter. So, I guess I'll stick with 10.5.8 forever until they bring the real photochrom filter back.
I've been dreaming of IR photography for many years. It's a whole new world of seeing things in a different way, but I don't want to spend much money on camera gears. So, yeah, this was totally the deal-breaker for me. If OP8 pro didn't have this feature at the beginning. I'd go for S20 Ultra instead.
It's disappointing to see this move from them. If they don't bring it back, I guess this OP8 pro will be the last Oneplus for me.
Shame on you, Oneplus.
I tried downgrading the camera app using APK mirror, but lesser versions will not install. Any clues? I really miss the IR filter.

Are we sure that it started with latest version?
I'm on 10.5.9 BA (in 2023) and I never was able to reproduce the fake x-ray thinggy with any of my remote controller or whatever

I'm on 10.5.9BA and i can confirm it can still see through things on my device.
BA is the EU version. I think 11BA breaks it 9 does not.
