why hasn't a universal unlock code been 'revealed' yet for the J5(2016)?! - Samsung Galaxy J5 Questions & Answers

I've owned my J5 (SM-J510GN; globe-locked) for almost a year now. I've been keeping a close eye, both, on the unlock sites and the kiosks here in Manila and - still - no unlock code is available for this phone. Is it still 'too new?' When do these codes usually start to trickle out?
If anyone has one (that will work for my Globe lock), please PM me.
TIA

Hi,
Unfortunately, I don't think you're able to unlock it via code. Since it's a dual SIM model, it has two IMEIs, so pretty much any unlock code provider is unable to help you.

Hmm....when i put in a non-Globe SIM, it asks for an unlock code. My experience tells me that if I had the code, it would unlock that IMEI.
Let's just say it wouldn't....how are dual SIM phones being unlocked then? I've yet to root it as it's still under warranty and there's no way (as of yet) to not flip the Knox value of this phone via root (hence, immediately ending warranty).
Thanks for the reply. Hope this thread becomes active and I find a sol'n.

SIM Unlock

Hello all. I got a TMobile Wing from US (I'm from South America), but it's SIM Unlocked.
Anyone knows where can I get a "unlock code key generator" where I can input my IMEI and it gives me my SIM Unlock Code!???
I'm not willing to pay U$ 35!!!!!!!!!, because the phone already cost me a fortune here.
After reading the WIKI, I saw that at this point there's no way (except paying to some obscure website) to unlock the wing.
My points are:
1) How hard can It be to unlock it, because:
1) the website can do that, and I'm pretty sure they're not using the official way.
2) I only need SIM unlock. When I use my SIM card, it asks for an unlock code. I'm assuming that the unlock code is a function of my IMEI number.
If there are code generators for other HTC models, how different the algorithm can be? And, of course, the guys from that website most probably have broke it.
3) I used to crack 68k code long time ago on my Commodore Amiga. Is there any emulator or something? A debugger like softice? Who's working on the unlock code generator? Can I help?
I've been going thru the herald forums for months now, and I have yet to hear of anyone being able to bypass SIM lock on the herald ...
I'm sure if you could figure out how to unlock, it would be much appreciated by the whole community.
i second that.... hope you find a way man... because ive been itching to get my wing working... 35 dollars for a code? that would be too much... some say they can get it from t-mobile for free, you just have to contact them... the problem with our situation (yes i bought mine from ebay also), we do not have a contract with them. i tried it already and they were not willing to help unless i am the subscriber myself asking for the unlocking. i tried contacting the person i bought my phone from but i got no answer.

HTC HD2 Sim Unlock T-Mobile UK

Hello, i have hd2 locked t-mobile, how can i unlock my hd2 without unlocking code?
you can't. only known method is getting unlock code or those sim adaptors which temp unlock
I mean SIM unlock, there isn't any ways, to unlock it? for example by installing different rom's or smth else?
Nope, to remove the lock of the SIM from one network to all networks requires an unlock code.
in cheapest way, where i could get that code? is it possible to pay by sms?
T-Mobile charge about 15GBP if u are a pay-monthly customer, I think.
The cheapest and fastest way is through htccode.com, imo, 15Euro=13GBP
Has anyone used htccode.com in the last few days? After reading a lot of posts here saying that site was legitimate, I paid for my unlock, and DLed the program. The program said my user info was incorrect, but it was not. After 6 attempts, it warned me I only had 4 left, so I stopped. Tried again today after sending an email with no response and the servers are down. Anyone know what's going on?
has anyone tried these guys http://cgi.ebay.com/Unlock-CODE-HTC...em&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item230700f9ad?

Unlocking X10 Question

A friend of mine has an x10 by vodafone. He recently bought it from their store. He also bought a unlockcode by vodafone (legal). So good, so far!
BUT - when he entered another simcard in the phone to start the unlockprocedure - he put in the pincode instead of the unlockcode. (he is not that technical). After 5 times of trying the phone is now locked for unlocking. One says the phone has now to be unlocked by software meyhod and can not be unlocked by code anymore.
Softwaremethod is not available. Can someone give me any advise how to handle to get the option back to put in the unlockcode again?!
flashing? anything else?
Take it back to the store and get them to do it, if they can't use a simple unlock code then I can't see them being any good with a software method.
sounds like its been accidentally locked you need a PUK key to unlock it ....(if its not stolen..not saying it is!) then the service provider should supply this PUK override code to allow you to change it to a more easiky remembered code

It sucks to see people having problems with unlocking their phones...but wait! here's you're lucky day Follow this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731240&page=4 and go to post #38 and you'll find the answer. I was one of them who got the phone for a week, tried almost all of the online remote unlocking services and didn't work, bought the manufacturer's code and entered it too many times that the phone counter-blocked itself. Anyway...long story short, I was able to unlock my phone with HTCCode.com. I don't have anything to do with their website, but they were the only place that could unlock my phone, and trust me I had three other buddies from this forum that had the same problem but unlocked the phone with them. If you have any problems, pm and I'll try to help. You should read the thread I sent you first and you'll understand, but if you can't wait, click on the link on post #38 and talk to HTCCode directly. They are friendly and very helpful. Good luck buddy, give me feedback too

Carrier Unlock Permanent?

Hello. Sorry if this is a widely understood concept already, but I couldn't find anything on it. Is the carrier unlock that occurs when you put in an unlock code from Dell permanent? Like, if I put in the unlock code, do I have to put it in every single time I switch SIMs or do I put it in once and it will stay unlocked. If it's the latter, will it be recognized by Zune as an unlocked phone? (Mango update?) I just bought an AT&T model off of eBay. Thanks!
Once SIM unlocked, always SIM unlocked. You will never have to enter the code again no matter what you do to your phone.
Thanks for the quick answer! After I put in the SIM unlock code, would you happen to know if the Zune software will recognize the phone as an unlocked phone so I can get the Mango update?
No, it wont. SIM unlocked means you can use other carrier SIM's in it. Unlocked in the sense you mean refers to devices that are sold without any carrier affiliation, unbranded & unlocked and are considered direct from the OEM. Your phone is still technically a T-Mo phone thus will still be in the queue. However, its quite easy to use the Zune disconnect trick if you dont want to wait.
Thanks for the answer, but unfortunately...it's an AT&T version. Bleh.
Ah well, just have to be patient, eventually you will get the update. Tough but you can at least enjoy some of the WP7 goodness now.

[Q] How to SIM Unlock Note 3 N900W8?

Hello,
Me and my girlfriend are both going to India in December 2013. We are getting married -- YAY!!!
Anyways, we both live in Canada and she has Note 3 (Snapdragon LTE model) N900W8 with Rogers Wireless and I have the similar model with Bell Mobility.
I was just wondering if there is a way to SIM unlock these devices so we can use it in India.
My phone is rooted with TWRP installed but as I read through the forums that I cannot use the RegionLock chainfire method.
What do I need to do to get these 2 devices unlocked? I don't want to pay a high unlocking fee. (I found quotes from cellunlocker dot net and it costs $14.99 for Rogers model and $32.99 for Bell Model)
Please help!.
Thanks in advance.!

Hi man, I am in the same spot more or less, How can I sim unlock my Samsung Note 3 N900W8 with out a sim code? Is there a way by rooting? Or maybe there is another kernel out that I can flash etc?
Also Cellunlocker.net has not refunded me my money for a sim code for this phone. I have messaged them and they keep sending me replies saying "pending". So I would not recommend using that site for the N900W8. Cheers
I have used cellunlocker.net for my Note 3 and received my unlock code within an hour. Had no issue unlocking and done many phones using their services.
You simply need to use the generic "ALL CANADIAN VERSION" option instead of your specific carrier and it goes much faster.
What I would be concerned about the compatibility of the GSM Band in India...
You know... like trying to use a canadian Note 3 with Verizon... ? Not compatible.
---------- Post added at 08:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:57 PM ----------
Also... the region unlock is not for the sim but a specific lock on the phone initial activation that can prevent the cellphone from being used in a different region of the world. The lock remove itself after first setup.
Canadian SM-N900W8 do not come with region lock anyway. So not an issue anyway.
All you need is an unlock code for the phone Sim lock.
Eagerly waiting to unlock my device.
I wouldn't mind unlocking by SIM Unlock code, but the prices are way too much..
Plus you said cellunlocker.net doesn't work on canadian models, so I'm skeptical to even try it out.
cellunlocker is my last resort anyway!!

I know older models of S4, S3, Note 1 and Note 2 can be unlocked via the phone menu on the device itself!!! Doesn't work with note 3...
Hence my only option is to order unlock code, but i will still wait as I have a few weeks before i leave

I was able to unlock a stock T-Mobile N900T by first using URDLV to root as outlined here: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/universal-root-de-la-vega-script/ Rooting did not trip Knox, still says "Samsung Official"
Then I used Chainfires Region Lock Away app, instructions as found here: http://androidfannetwork.com/2013/10/06/sim-unlock-t-mobile-note-3-for-free/ but since I didn't have a T-Mobile Sim, I skipped the first two steps, leaving me with this:
3. Install RegionLock Away app
4. Run the app, and instead of rebooting say Reboot Later (THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT)
5. Power off the Note 3
6. Insert SIM of choice
7. Turned on the device – BOOM! no Region Lock, and NO SIM Lock.
I don't know for sure, but think this *may* work for those with N900W8 if the T-Mobile roms work with the same device. Follow above steps at your own risk, but please post results.

Heyy Just a quick question
I hear a lot about this Region Lock.
I never had the sticker warning on my box in Canada. but i see it on the boxes in U.S.A. and Europe.
Do you actually see on your phone screen itself saying "YOUR PHONE IS REGION LOCKED" ?
or something like that?
I am super curious. cuz on my note 3 which did not come with region lock stickers asked me for the SIM network unlock PIN (network unlocking message)
Noone so far has been able to show me anything close to region locking in real life yet. Many just show the SIM network unlock PIN message which isn't region locks
I am super duper curious
Thanks!!!

HI, there was nothing on the phone screen saying it's region locked. Just wouldn't accept the SIM from another carrier, I think the error message was "INVALID SIM" before.
This is something that a lot of people are coming to us to ask at the moment and I haven't seen or heard of anything that suggests once an unlock code is entered on the "SIM Network unlock PIN" screen, which 1sagain mentioned, that the region lock hinders the user taking the phone internationally.
We've provided thousands of unlocks since the region locks became active and I haven't heard back from one person informing us that the region lock is still stopping them using their phone abroad. Although it isn't direct evidence that the region locks are removed by codes, it is a large enough sample for us to feel the lack of evidence can be used as evidence in itself.
Essentially, from what I know, remove the SIM Network unlock PIN request = removes the region lock.

Hmm
I see,
Invalid SIM, however, implies many things as it has many factors.
Invalid sim can be due to incompatible network with your phone/old sim card that wont work on the note 3 but on other phones/plan on the sim is not compatible with your device/or Other damages or bugs
Best work arounds I see:
1. Replace the sim.
2. Try waiting at least 5 - 10 minutes with this sim inserted (knowing this is a fully activated sim card)
3. Make sure your phone is fully compatible with the Network (Make sure the Network doesn't use CDMA)
4. Make sure your phone is NOT asking for the SIM network unlock PIN (This means your phone is still SIM Locked (not region locked))
5. Restart the phone with the Fully activated new SIm inserted.
6. Call the new carrier you are using your unlocked phone with.
Many more things etc etc to try. etc etc

Hi
I am from India so sharing my experience.
Can u be more specific of phone model? Pl post exact model no & FW.
I have SM-N800 (FW N900XXUBMI2) bought in USA, used with US SIM in US & working in India wout any region/sim lock issues.
1. LTE Bands in India are differnt than in USA & Canada. So you Cant use LTE in India
2. 3G & GSM will work in India as they are global bands
3. If you are already using the Note3 in Canada, are they carrier locked? Have u tried by swapping SIM between 2 of you and still the Note3 works? If Yes, then your phone is already Region & SIM unlocked and you don't need any unlock code to use phone outside Canada.
4. You can also contact Canada Samsung Service center to confirm if your phone is region/sim unlocked. They can tell. Also carry your US Bills for phone to India in case you have to visit Samsung India for help for any other issue.
Hope this helps.
Cheers!!!

Anyone try this method for the N900W8?
1.Remove the SIM from the Galaxy Note 3. Replace it with a SIM from another carrier.
2.Turn off the device then switch it back on.
3.Access the dial pad and type the following: *#197328640#.
4.Go back to the main menu and open UMTS.
5.Open Debug Screen> Phone Control > Network Lock.
6.Open Options and choose Perso SHA256 OFF.
7.Wait for 30 seconds.
8.Return to the main menu and choose back.
9.After completion, wait for the device to read "Network Lock."
10.Choose NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ.
If the user followed the procedures precisely, the device should read: "Asterisk Pound One Nine Seven Three Two Eight Six Four Zero Pound". Owners of Samsung Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4 and Note 2 can also use the following procedures to unlock their devices.
