[No Root/PC] [How To] Change Lock Screen Wallpaper on Kindle Fire 5th Generation - Fire General

If you are here you want more customazation. Here is how to have a different wallpaper and lock screen wallpaper on the Kindle Fire 5th Gen, right now I am on Fire OS 5.3.3.0
1. Get rid of special offers from Amazon's site or by email/chat.
2. You can also get rid of them with the tool if you are on Fire Os 5.3 or under
2. Go to Settings>Display>Wallpaper
3. Change the wallpaper to whatever you want for the lock screen.
4. After setup of Google Play, install Wallpapers by Google
5. After launching the app, whichever wallpaper you choose to set will set the back ground, but you lock screen one will not be changed.

There is a lot you can do right now without root. If you find another way to change, reply in this tread and post your results.

[Q] Custom Launcher - Wallpaper size

This I am sure is going to be a dumb question... but, for some reason I cannot find the number. I am trying to create a custom launcher for my in dash install, I created a wallpaper at 1200x800 that I plan to lay custom widgets over. But, when I go to set the wallpaper on the Nexus (Settings --> Wallpaper) I get the little blue grid come up that forces me to crop my image.
How do I get the image I created to take up a full single screen? Do I need to just add extra space to the image at the sides? If so, what resolution do I use? I feel like this is a simple answer, but for some reason I have been unable to find it.
Thanks.

Yoga 10+ HD: changing lockscreen wallpaper?

So I have a Lenovo Yoga 10+ HD, model B8080-F, on which I've just done a factory reset (to fix a repeated freeze issue), and which is rooted. My current annoyance is that the lockscreen background is stuck on these horrible garish bubbles/balloons, and I can't seem to change it. I've tried opening pictures and setting them as lockscreen background, but to no effect. I'm using Android 4.4.2 (this is the most recent release Lenovo has made available for this model).
How can I change the lockscreen background?

You'd think there'd be an easier way, but what I did in the end was: (1) copy the image I wanted into the /etc/localwallpaper folder, and checked that its permissions and owner were the same as all other pictures, (2) edit the customed_wallpaper.xml file to include this new image, (3) went out of Nova launcher into the stock Launcher HD and changed the wallpaper from there.
Pain in the butt, all that was.

[APP] Google Pixel C Launcher (7.1.2)

GOOGLE PIXEL C LAUNCHER (7.1.2 Update)
Pixel Launcher 7.1.2
This Is Not My Work, Just Passing It Along For Those Interested
Install At Your Own Risk
Android 7.1.2 beta 2 has started rolling out for Pixel and Nexus devices bringing older devices some new features. The Pixel C was the 1st to receive the beta update. The Pixel Launcher features a brand new multitasking interface that makes multi-window management a bit more natural and altogether better looking. Insiders say this is a peek at upcoming features offered with Android O. You can swipe to the right to reveal the Google Now Feed, and swipe up from anywhere on the home screen to pull up the app drawer. You'll also notice that any icon that is compatible with Google's latest design guidelines will be circular to match the circular folder style, and include long-press actions if the developer supports them.
The Recents menu and Multi-Window Management is different. Tapping the Recents button will reveal a large set of tiles that no longer overlap or scroll. You get up to eight mini previews of the most recently used apps, and can tap on them to jump into that app or tap an X to close it. When you long-press an app, you'll now have the option to drag it to the left or right edge to start the multi-window interface. The rest of the available apps then shrink down over to the opposite side to launch in the other half of the screen to complete the look.
* Download Attached File
* Using A File Explorer With Root Access Move The File To System/Apps. (You could also try System/Priv Apps but I followed Google's guide and installed in Sys/Apps) - And Set Permissions To rw-r--r-- (0644 Octal)
* Reboot And Set The New Pixel Launcher As Default. You Shouldn't Need To Remove Existing Launcher.

*Note: The Pixel C is a tablet. A friend with a Nexus 5 says he adjusted DPI after installation & it works well. I haven't tried it yet so I can't comment on it working on the Hammerhead. I Installed it on a tablet to try it and it works/looks great. Try this app at your own risk.

adb shell wm density DPI (replace "DPI" with the number such as 480, 320 or any of your choice) & make back up before messing around. You could use cmd from your computer or terminal on your phone. Restart after applying.

Anyone using this on Nexus 5, please share the steps to install it, copying to system/app and setting up permission do nothing on Fake Nexus ROM.
Its not showing weather even after enabling all permissions.

How to change lockscreen wallpaper on kindke fire HD 10(gen 7)?

So after I removed the special offers on the lockscreen, it shows some (around 5 I guess?) stock wallpaper on the lockscreen routinely. I know the wallpaper can be changed in display > wallpaper, but I can't find the place to change the lockscreen wallpaper.
Is there a walk-around to achieve it?
I've got the 6th gen HD 8, but in mine, I browse photos using the Prime Photos app. When I see one I want to use, tap it so it displays full-screen size, then tap the 3 dots (menu) in the upper right corner of the pic. One of the choices is Wallpaper. On my 8 HD, choosing and confirming this will set it as both the lock screen wallpaper and the home screen wallpaper.

Thanks for helping. I really appreciate it. I was looking for the content related to "lockscreen wallpaper" and I didn't know that home screen wallpaper & lock screen wallpaper are changed at the same time.
Also, I can confirm that using your method and going to display > wallpaper have the same result.
There is a video which shows you how to do this

Totally unnecessary. Dragonfire1024 has demonstrated the way to change internal lockscreen wallpaper in his thread. As far as I know, that's the only way to customize the lockscreen wallpaper in a rotational way without using Amazon's app.
So...
What am i missing here? I've just changed my wallpaper, but my lock screen is still blissfully rotating pics from the folder of stock images that came pre-installed
EDIT found the answer in another thread. I mistakenly used Google Pics to change my wallpaper, not the control panel setting, which doesn't change the lockscreen.
On the other hand, this is a good work around to have different lock screen\wallpaper images.?

Sorry, but this was a year ago and I have no idea where I found it. Like I said in my comment though, my solution was to use the control panel. Also, did you pay to bypass the "sponsored" tablet? If not, you will always see the ads and never have control of your lock screen.
Other than that, I really can't offer much help. To be honest, I barely notice what my screen looks like these days. I use my Fire so infrequently I just open it, use it, and shut it off. So I don't know if the interface has changed.
Wish I could be of more help.
Disable the unwanted lock screen. Can you use Kustom Lock Screen Creator from Google Play Store

HD 10 2017 Rooted and Play Store - have a few odd glitches and some questions

i'm mostly happy with this tablet, rooted with one of the great tutorials on this site (kingoroot then supersu), and I've added Google services/play store. I have a few small glitches though so I thought I'd set them down here and see if anyone else has them, and if there are any fixes. Mostly they are trivial, and some are just general questions.
(I bought the pro version of titanium backup so i could freeze some of the amazon processes (I don't really want any of them; i'll never use them so they're just going to waste battery; get in the way of nova launcher etc). I've been very careful with what I froze and "pm disable"d though.)
1) If i go to settings/storage and select internal or sd card it shows me the page briefly then goes back to the storage page.
2) When I click on settings/power/battery I don't get a graph of battery usage. Is this normal? Usually you can see how long ago you charged it, which apps have use battery etc.
3) There's no settings/accounts/google so how can I see which Google apps are syncing?
4) I had to sideload Netflix. Is this normal (for a rooted HD 10)?
5) I have 5 google accounts I've added to Google Photos (I have a lot of photos!). The initial "downloading photos" seems to take ages. Perhaps it's no slower than usual but it's not showing you the photos until they're all downloaded. Worse, this app quits by itself sometimes. It's the most unstable app I've used in the few days I've had this device.
6) The app Amazon for Tablets just quits when I try and run it. Does it require some of the background stuff I've disabled. It's not really worth enabling them for it, i'm just curious.
7) Can I somehow add a pattern unlock instead of pin/password?
8) Can I disable the lockscreen wallpaper? Where are they stored on the tablet - perhaps I can just delete them/replace with a single black jpeg.
9) Can I edit the swipe down notification options (which are currently wifi, airplane, blue shade, do not disturb, bluetooth, help, rotation, camera)?

Some apps have to be sideloaded because the app version is for cell phones only.
Amazon apps, Store and Kindle have not worked for me for awhile... Not sure what is going on.

Netflix isn't for cell phones only. It appears in the play store on my other phones and tablets.
I'm not too bothered about the Amazon stuff - I have a real kindle for reading books; this tablet is great for PDFs (which are hellish on a kindle). I'm not sure there are many apps on the amazon store which aren't on the playstore, and I guess I'll just have to live without the amazon app. The website is pretty good anyway. I suspect if I was bothered I could unroot and factory reset this device and start over and just add the play store and remove no amazon stuff, but that would be a lot worse than my current situation.

1) You debloated. It likely has something to do with Free Time and the files surrounding it's function. Unfortunately only way to fix without root, is a factory reset.
2) Download and install Activity Launcher. Tap top left panel, and then all activities. Scroll to settings, tap it, you'll see more battery options, unfortunately not detailed. Scroll down further for 'usage statistics ' for individual app usage stats.
3) Using activity launched again, still in settings, tap 'accounts'. Then tap the three dogs at the top right corner. Make sure 'auto sync' box is checked. You can't see the individual syncing options though. Also in activity launched > settings tap 'backup and reset.' Make sure the toggle to back up to Google cloud is selected. You cannot enter an email, that's for Amazon backup.
4) You can download a compatible Netflix apk from their website here.
5) Google Photos is give or take. Move pictures and whatever else you want to use, to Google Drive. That works better, especially if you keep Amazon Photos.
6) Debloating causes this across many apps. Amazon makes sure everything is connected. I don't use any Amazon apps so these are give or take as well.
7) No pattern yet. I'm working on it. I just need to figure out how to edit the SystemUI ap k and reinstall it. No luck yet.
8) Amazon Photos controls lock screen wallpaper. You can only change it through settings > display > wallpaper. That changes home and lock screen wallpapers. If you delete Amazon Photos, you lose the ability to change the lock screen. You cannot disable the lock screen wallpapers.
9) Amazon uses a different notification panel than the standard SystemUI interface. So far, with root, GravityBox changes only status bar icons, but not tiles. I have not yet figured out where Amazon tucks away their panel. Some is in SystemUI some in the framework.

Thanks for responding! It can be hard to get "the answer" to specific questions on this site sometimes!
1) I was very careful with what I altered, and as far as I know I only disabled stuff (I bought titanium pro and froze a few things that I couldn't disable even as root) so presumably I can unfreeze it. I suppose I could have poked around more without root but I was worried that I might get an amazon update I could no longer root, and that I couldn't replace the launcher with nova launcher. If this (inability to look at what items are taking up space in the sd card/internal) is the only symptom of "debloating" then it's a fair trade and I'll put up with it).
2+3) I will check out "activity launcher".
4) I didn't know about that! "Rooted or uncertified Android mobile devices are unable to download the Netflix app from the Play Store. Rooted or uncertified mobile devices are not blocked from accessing Netflix, but, depending on configuration, may not function properly." Might as well leave them up on the play store then, eh? Very odd. Still, solves my fears about sideloading tampered-with apps.
5) I use google photos on several other devices and the web. I upload stuff, move between albums, share. If I can do all of that on google drive then it might be worth whatever time it takes. I'll check it out!
6) This was one of the apps I couldn't disable until I bought titanium pro, so that's solved now. (I froze whispernet and other stuff that was taking up cpu/battery and the device didn't seem to get any more unstable).
7) It's not a big deal. I'd check out any fix you make (assuming I find out about it somehow - remember to post it in one of the forums on this site!)
8) I might temporarily enable google photos then, long enough to disable them. I'm not sure how many photos are cycled between on the lock screen, and whether they're downloaded or stored on the device. I couldn't find them when I had a quick look.
9) It's not a big deal, but i'm never going to use most of them.
Cheers!
Well, I unfroze everything (then refroze some apps like kindle, amazon for tablets (which still didn't work)) and some of the menu items have come back to life. I still can't set lockscreen wallpaper - the settings for wallpaper only affects the main screen. That's not big deal really - I don't want to fiddle with this thing forever. I can see that google and firefox are both set up to sync but clicking on them doesn't do anything. I don't get notifications on lichess, which is odd. I get notifications for youtube so it's not like the system is broken, and notifications aren't disabled on a per-app basis for lichess. The activity launcher lets me see the battery details like you said (although you can access activities directly with nova launcher so it's not required) - there's some text you can hardly read on those pages though because it's very dark text on a very dark background.
