Interesting discovery... - Fire HD 6 and 7 General

Some people have probably figured this out, but by long-pressing the "ok" button on the device shutdown dialog gives you the option to reboot into safe mode.

Locking won't work unless you go to start, Lock, then the mail and locking via the power button will work again.
That's what i meant. Start->Lock and then unlock and open email.
Not power button to turn off the screen and power button to turn it back on
Anyway, i hope it helped.

I just thought an explanation was needed. You can imagine the response would have been "but it doesn't lock when I press the button"

End call at black screen

I know im not the only one who has this issue...If im on a call and have a black screen the want to hang up, more often than not I find myself waiving my phone around or trying to find a button that will wake up the screen so I can end the call. anyone have a quick way to get this done? thanks.
just move the screen away from your head and the screen should light up
If it doesn't return phone to stock with odin then take it into sprint and tell them you want it fixed (If you have insurance)
its normally when im on speakerphone and have my phone on a table or center console
I have some icon on my screen that I can't get off... Can you help?"?????D?SD
OO then try changing your "screen timeout"
Settings---> Display--->Screen timeout
try setting it a little higher so it wouldn't turn off

Hey! Don't say that! It's only true if you believe it to be! lol..
BTW.. I love your signature...
OP.. Try waving your finger over the top portion of the housing above the screen and see if it is your screen protector messing with the proximity sensor by lifting the corner to give it unobstructed access to light..... That is a pretty common issue...
Another option is to enable ending the call with the power key (assuming your on 2.2)... This way, even if the screen is unlit, a simple press of the power key will disconnect the call.
To enable this option, hit Menu->Settings->Accessibility->(if you get a popup saying "No accessibility applications found", just hit cancel)->then toggle the box next to "The power key ends calls".

the only problem with this is if you're on a call that you need to press numbers on (like press 1 for english, 2 for spanish, etc).
the only way I know to wake up the screen when on speaker is the power button so for that reason only, I'd advise against this. I say just tap the power button and be on your way.

Nope. I click on 'get latest profile' in Knox Customization. Then after few sec, the update did not went through and i get 'KCC agent is stop working' something like that.
Then i got stuck with that security policy thing. It probably think that my phone is still updating the profile.
When i restart my phone, after few minutes. Knox customization will appear automatically.
Anyone resolve this issue?
Same problem here, Galaxy S9. Anyone found anything about this, please?
Solution
Security policy prevents the use of Home key.
Security policy prevents the use of this hardware key.
Open the browser and hit following URL:
https://custom.samsungknox.com/
----
Keep following what the screen says and the issue will be fixed, hopefully! It worked for me.
I tried that but it nor working any idea I have issue with s10+
how if I cannot open a browser also.
Finally fixed it (fixed on Galaxy J6)
Follow the steps below
1. Go to settings > apps.
2. Click the 3 dots on the top right and go to Special Access.
3. Select Device Admin Apps
4. Disable Company Portal
5. Finish.
Try setting a new PIN for your phone lock.

Slightly wet the button area, now the home button keeps triggering non stop.

Slightly wet the button area, now the home button keeps triggering non stop. Everything else works fine.
Ive tried the following solutionsb
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-2/general/guide-oneplus-2-home-button-dead-t3324321
Phone is currently sitting in a bag of rice so let's see how that goes.
Meanwhile, can anybody think of a way to disable the home button (perhaps through terminal or something)? Because the phone would basically be usable.. I know there are button settings, so if only I could somehow put home button as "no action".

The thing is the constant pressing of home button makes me not able to navigate anywhere.
The only place I can actually do something is in recovery, because the home button doesn't actually do anything.
If there's a way I can enable it in terminal in recovery mode that would be great.

Hope the moisture dries out and your fingerprint reader starts working normally
Tip of advice for everyone who has problems with the fingerprint reader after it got wet or started to get crazy for any weird reasons at all.
Drain the phone battery until it dies. Then try to boot it up to drain even the last power in it.
Then recharge the phone.
By draining the battery and recharghing it you reset the phone's sensors.
Be lucky some of you aren't living in a country like me where the weather is moist all the time. I had to do this method thrice this week ??

replacing default Screenshot App or changing Power+VolDown default behavior

Hello everyone,
I am using a OnePlus 6T, stock 9.0.1, rooted with Magisk, and with TWRP Recovery.
I would like to change the behavior of the system when Power+VolDown is pressed.
Right now the event triggers taking a screenshot and showing a dialogue window with options for sharing, editing, and deleting.
I find the behavior very unconvenient. What I would like is that the event triggered taking the screenshot only (i.e.: what happens when using TWRP) without the additional dialogue window and delay.
Is there any way to accomplish that?
Thanks in advance.
P.S. I am willing to tinker around if needed.
P.P.S. As a plys, it would be great if it worked also with the three-fingers gesture and with apps that block screenshots by default.
Go to developer option, enable advance reboot. You have option screenshoot when you hold power button.

I did but unfortunately it invokes the same app (Screenshot) instead of the one that, as far as my understanding goes, gets invoked on plan Android systems (System UI) so I still get the unconvenient dialogue window, no matter which way I decide to take a screenshot with: Power+VolDown, 3-fingers, Advanced Power Button menu.
I think as long as you stay on OxygenOS, you will keep that type of screenshot. Your solution might be flashing a custom AOSP ROM.
