Phone dies charging overnight - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

About a week ago it happened the first time. As usually, I left my phone to charge overnight, had an alarm set in the morning but somehow I slept in... Took my phone to see what's up and it was off. Turning it on my battery was at 0% even though it had been pluged in through the night. (images from GSam Battery Monitor)

After that I plugged it in, did what I had to do, came back and again it was off and warmer than it should have been.
I changed both the charger and cable, happened again last night and the night before (don't have graphs for these instances)
Anyone know why, or how to fix it? Thanks!

Try safe mode.
1. Press and hold the Power to display Phone options.
2. Touch and hold Power off to view 'Restart in Safe Mode' message.
3. Tap OK to restart in Safe mode.

Does somebody have this problem ?
If you shutdown the device and restart it does the percentage change? I had issues with my battery status not properly updating on my first device. Maybe it's the same thing for you.
see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2015728
Device restarted. Always 31%.

Try recharging with the device off.
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
Device power off and charging during one hour.
Battery level : 31%
Now I try another power supply....
Have you tried factory reset? It may fix the issues/errors your having by starting fresh. If your rooted you can always go to recovery and delete battery stats. Did you have this problem from the start?
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk HD
No problem with new power supply.
Battery is now at 100%
Thank you for your help!

Power Management bug?

My Nexus 4 stops charging after the screen turns off, when i plug in to the wall adapter when the screen is ON. It charges normally when i plug it in when the screen is off, i.e., after pressing sleep button. Anyone else noticed this same issue or able to recreate this. My N4 is stock rooted btw.
Im sorry if this had already been posted. I did search the forum but couldn't find any related posts.

Your charger is likely faulty. It's probably not providing enough power to charge and operate the screen at the same time. Mine is the same, so I use an old samsung charger from my Nexus S instead (when not using my wireless charger)
Let me try another charger. But, i dont think its because of charger unable to provide enough power. if you can see the barchart against time, charging was active only until screen-on was active

Battery graph gap and drop in charge

Left the phone on the charger overnight woke up in the morning to see the phone at 86% battery which was odd cause it was on the charger all night and there was a blank gap in the charging graph where it lost a chunk of charge

. Take a look at the graph and check a few other things while its still plugged in and it dropped to 85% while still charging. Reseated the charger then it started going back up but I know it was seated fine the first time cause I plugged it in with 3% battery last night. Phone is 3 days old.

Same situation here after installing LineageOS 13 custom.
I'll try to reflash stock by Odin...
try this
Hi ! maybe USB port is damage ? Look on this video facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=552299751823760&id=552297098490692 and open the your phone, next look at on port. Look for a bruise, patina and crack of solder
Leave it in download mode for 20/30 minutes
For me,it happened when i used the phone til the battery hitted 0 and automatically turned off,i've tried many things....but i think that leaving phone to download mode(vol down+power button) charges a bit the phone:silly:

Bootloop

Hello,
Yesterday as all nights, before I went to sleep I put the phone charging, but It did not charger, thinking it was the charger, I tried another but did not charge the same. So I thought about rebooting it. After I restarted it, the phone goes continuously to Bootloop. By the way, it's very slow at power on, it does not get me into recovery mode and it's in download mode.
Thinking it was a battery problem, I wanted to try charging it off, but every time the attachment to the charger turns on automatically ... and if I hit the power off button, it does not turn off. Today I have tried a new battery and gives the same problem.
How i can put in download mode the phone?
Can anyone help me kindly?
Now the phone remain
