Phone dims during video playback (MX Player) - Huawei P10 Plus Questions & Answers

When playing back video on MX Player, the phone dims due to inactivity. Is there an MX Player setting or a Huawei setting that can fix this?

Video Player grinds to a halt

Is anyone experiencing any issues with the builtin video player? I am currently on cm4.2.7 and have experienced this on others too, I will be streaming a video from youtube or other media websites and to begin with the player will work ok but after a while (couple of minutes) the videos start to stutter and eventually it fails.
I had to go back to my old stock rom for a few hours today and found that when I used the video player on that I had no problem at all.
Any ideas?

HD Sound, e.g. 24 bit / 96 khz

Hi!
I had some problems with my Qualcomm-Device and HD-Sound, but I think I have a solution.
1) High-Definition flac-Files (24 bit / 96 khz etc.) tend to stutter even in built-in Music Player. If I turn the screen off, there are always very disturbing stutters about two minutes after every title started. Maybe this has something to do with regular power management, which slows the processor down even if you are not in power saving mode. The problem does not occur when I keep the screen on.
2) The built-in Music Player is not capable of playing DTS-WAV-Files. That's odd because much high quality music is encoded in this format. In another forum I read that only VLC, which is still in beta stadium, would handle these files. The Problems with stutter also occur with VLC.
After being angry I discovered that MX Player can be used as HD-Music Player for DTS-WAV-files, and there is no stutter. First you have to download the dts decoder (Decoder-->user defined codec). In Settings-->Audio you can check the first box to set MX Player to use this program as a music player. Then your music files can be found by MX Player. No stutter at all!
If you have ever heard HD-music with your Note 3 you dont' want to listen to MP3s any more.

Good video player suggestion?

Hey, peeps. I use my phone to follow some twitch streamers. Problem is that my battery won't last as long as the stream.
The solution is to just listen to the streamer instead of watching thr video (I watch it for the funny commentary).
I can do this with an app called Ace and any third party video player.
This is where my actual problem starts. I have audio lag when the screen is off. When it's turned on it is ok. When I turn it off the audio starts to stutter. I can't figure out why. I've tried different settings.
I'm running full performance settings on my phone.
I tried MX Player, BSPlayer and VLC Player. VLC doesn't seem to have the stuttering issue but it also doesn't allow me to fast forward or backward (on a past broadcast).

Did you try different kernel/roms? It sounds to me like your cpu/gpu scales to low when screen is off.

I am on Resurrection Remix with Alucard kernel running the extreme performance profile.
Videos stored on my device don't sutter (even with the screen off). It happens only when streaming. And it's not buffering lag, since it works well with the screen on.
I'll try turning cortexbrain off. Since it supposedly puts the phone into a battery friendly state when the screen is off.

screen rotation issue with videos

After this last security update when watching any video be it YouTube, mx player, etc, when I'm watching the screen will randomly rotate and then go back to the normal. This is causing YouTube to pause and then I gotta press play again. On mx player it just rotates then goes back to normal.
Anyone experiencing this issue?
