Can't install apps - LG V20 Questions & Answers

" " Can't be installed. Try again, and if the problem continues, get help troubleshooting.
(error code: -504) is all I see whenever I attempt to download a new app or (more recent) try to update apps (I was only able to update until last night).
Can't sideload any apks either. "app appears to be corrupt" is all I get.
TB is the only way I'm able to install apps after setting up from a fresh Rom flash.
I really need help with this and would be extremely grateful if someone could tell me what to do. I've been having this problem for about a week now and I can't seem to figure out how to solve it.
I have an lgV20 rooted running the latest WETA 5.0 Rom (I've just switched from the latest Megarom ) I don't have these issues among the first hours after flashing so I've been careful with my setup but it keeps happening.
I have an a 128gb sd card with 29+gb left and there's 27+gb of storage on the internal memory.
(I'm constantly deleting things in hopes that this is the issue.)
With either Rom I keep root and use various apps such as tb, lucky patcher, & various other root reliant apps.
I've been flashing and rooting android devices since 2010 and I've never had this problem until now. I also have an LG V10 rooted with xposed (no problems whatsoever).
I've done so much to try and fix it that I'm running out of ideas. The last I have is to rollback to a previous build (h91810i)and stay there. I really don't want to because everything's perfect aside from this issue.
I don't know if this is a nougat issue, or a V20 security issue, but I'm stuck.
Please, if someone knows of a solution share it with me.
Also, I've tried every fix I could find online with no luck but any ideas would be accepted at this point.

Its probably Lucky Patcher causing issues. Try to do it with Lucky patcher not installed.

Thanks I think that lucky patcher was the problem. Too bad though, it's a great app.

Aw wow... So I can still use lucky patcher as long as I don't use the modd3d play store and patch to Android?

Yeah you can but let's not talk about it anymore since LP can't be talked about on XDA.

[Q] Auto OTA Update: Acer_A500_4.101.11_COM_GEN2..WON'T ROOT

Strangest thing this morning... I'd been trying unsucessfully to root my device with a cooked rom to no avail... couldn't get it to boot into recovery after several tries of the "Acer" auto update a couple of weeks ago... tab worked fine and was rooted so Titanium Backup worked.... this morning, a 497meg update downloaded and updated my system to ACER_A500_4.010.11_COM_GEN2 and worked with no problems. Now, I am in no way able to re-root the system. Any suggestions?
Help please!

Thanks guys for the info, however,
message is:
"Iconia Root could not be installed. Free up some space and try again"
I am not new to this and have checked most all options I could think of.... even rooted, bricked and fixed a few devices. Been around on xda since '06 been cooking phones since the early Palm days...
This is a factory download.... literally automatic.....
Have got lots of irons in the fire and no time to decode software on this device.
While you guys are at it, there are some programs from the Market that reflect: "unsucessful install".
Thanks for the link that I've already tried prior to posting, and again this am..... with same results as above.
Any other suggestions?

sounds like you filled up your onboard memory 16GB?
32gb on board, no matter what or how much is stopped, will not root.

What LS997-compatible ROM contains *all* working LG Stock Apps?

So the whole reason I rooted this damn phone was to be able to install working stock apps. Not just the Music and Gallery apps either--ALL THE LG APPS. Which LS997-compatible 100%-working ROM can I flash and get them all, if any? I keep hearing one exists, but no one bothers sharing that info and when I search I find nothing.
Really? No one?

Look in the development section it's like the 5th one down has ls997 in the title
@bgibson72
Im the only person developing a STOCK LS997 rom currently.. It contains the LG base apps and all the removed ones that we didnt get shipped with out model . Includes a ton of extras as well, alternatively we have 3 or 4 aosp roms you can use, but make sure you use twrp and backup your efs before flashing as it tends to jumble your programming up and cause issues. Otherwise you can flash the stock rom the Dev who provided the dirty santa unlock method.
Theres a good bit of info here to locate everything you need to have a awesome experience with the LG V20!

Hey thanks--I was fairly sure this was the ROM in question. Thank you for providing this! I was hesitant to flash because I'm always a little skeptical about the amount of help I'll get should I get stuck. I'm not exactly a noob at this, but I have plenty to learn. It looks like you've done a lot of work to provide a positive experience, so I'll give it a shot and see how it goes. I promise to read and re-read the instructions on the first 3 posts, and to NOT bother you with questions that have already been addressed in the thread. . Thanks!!

if you made it through dirty santa the rest should be cake. 99% of the issues i covered for people were
after going to AOSP and not having a backup of their programing info in their efs and having to find a way to
manually go in and fix each fd up piece.
The other is being on older software and downloading a OTA and rebooting with it in your internal storage.
This one causes a endless boot loop into twrp, so be advised to delete the update if your on older software or be prepared to
hit my post # 3 for fixes and be near a pc as you need to fastboot erase the fota and misc directories to resolve the boot loop. A twrp wipe will not fix it and restores etc wont either lol.
Otherwise theres now a lil over 100 pages of chatting and troubleshooting, fixes and things that have gone on, and mostly its all outdated as ive provided the fixes for 99% of everything in the latest version 7.5
Just be prepared to take 15-20 minutes for the phone to boot up the 1st time. My rom is deodexed, and the 1st boot is doing 298 things before you get to the optimization part. There is not boot animations as the phone will always have the static screen issue on reboots so i went ahead a placed a disabled command there to just save time/batt life. The setup wizard is stripped and only there to give you the notice its done booting and time to get to playing around.
Magisk is kinda finicy being its systemless design. It takes some time to get used to it, and be aware that some older apps that dont support exotic root or systemless root may not request root and not fully work. Titanium backup is one i know is getting attacked by googles app scanning and needs to have that turned off before it will work, most of my apps have a option to set "force root" so it asks for a root request regardless if it understands MagiskSu's root methods.
just some food for thought. Hope everything goes well, and there is a ton of people on the forum here that have great knowlege and can help with troubleshooting issues you may have

Lg k20 plus cant install any apps!

Hey im new to xda ive searched everywhere and could not find an answer. So i have an lg k20 plus from metro. I had rooted it successfully. I downloaded lucky patcher and patched to android so i could install a modded apk but i was unable to install any applications at all including from the play store. I got a -504 error code due to the lucky patcher patch.
So like an idiot i factory reset the phone without removing the patch and now even when using recovery to reroot the phone and install super su i am una le to install any apks at all. I cant install lucky patcher to remove the patch to android i did so now i can not install anything. Does anyone know how to fix this please i just got this phone.
Do you have a TWRP backup from BEFORE you messed with Lucky Patcher? If so, clear your data and cache in TWRP and then restore your backup.
Edit: just realized you posted this weeks ago ? I hope you've gotten it straightened out since then.

LGUP seems to be the main option here. Start fresh and become more familiar via the headache and read method. (you'll memorize much more that way)
I am resurrecting a dead post here but, when I am privileged enough to do so, I plan to make a detailed topic upon basic warnings and preventative measures to take for Root fun (Uncommon common sense type of things that many people may oversee).
I suggest keeping a spare SD card with a backup from a comfortable place. (all your apps / preferences saved how you like them)
Update it every friday night.
DO NOT delete old backups to save headaches in case a backup is poop.
if the backup happens to be a poop.exe backup now you can try and figure out which one is working and establish where your problem originated from within a 7 day period.
Save ALL APKs of files you wish to use JUST IN CASE ALL ELSE FAILS.
ADDITIONALLY:
-Cloud your backups from SD
-Flash drive them
-Etc...
--Lucky patcher is something that would label you REALLY lucky if its a first time using it and you don't break something lol
---- as are many various powerful apps
------ read read read and ask questions as well as keep up to date on XDA

Xposed in 8.1 Final Stock causes bootloop

First of all, excuse me if something is wrong or written. (Google translator)
I am one of those people who still use Xposed, the reason is that I use the variant of 2GB of ram and 16GB of internal memory and what helps me cope with it is Xposed and the module XinternalSD and ObbonSD.
The problem is that when installing Xposed both in its version flasheable and its version in magisk cause bootloop.
I read in the forums dedicated to the moto g5 that also happens to them this same thing they solved using a custom kernel.
What can be done?.

You're right, I can say it for I've tried it myself.
I wanted to install it so as to use "gravity box"
For the moment, since there's no final stable version of the 8.1 firmware, I think nothing can really be done ...
But I wonder what developers think about it ... It's a challenge that's worth it ?
It's work, but you need to do a simple trick, check my post.
brundark said:
I installed normally on magisk, the trick is on restart, the first restart to enable the xposed module should normally be done using "normal reboot", then open the xposed and you will get a yellow error, click the three dots to show the settings of the xposed, and go on 'fast reboot', it will work. And you will not be able to do a normal 'reboot', whenever you need to restart, use the option 'fast reboot'. NEVER restart the phone using normal mode, just using the "fast reboot"
it's important you always have the magisk uninstaller ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445/amp/)

I tried, it did not work.

Didn't realize I was upgrading to Android 11, magisk_patched.img bootloops, need help

When I downloaded the lasted OTA update for my OnePlus 8 Pro I thought it was just another hotfix and didn't realize it was a Big Deal Android 11 update. I tried using the normal OTA upgrade processed and kinda screwed myself.
After trying to install in the inactive slot the way I normally upgrade OTA, I ended up bootlooping. So I downloaded the recovery image and tried patching Magisk the long adb way. It wasn't until later that I realized I had to be on the beta channel. I didn't know you needed to disable modules when you upgrade to Android 11, so they might still be in play, but I don't know how to check. I've tried a bunch of stuff without much luck. Here's where I'm at now:
1) Bootloader is unlocked
2) I can get into Recovery Mode fine
3) I can flash the default/unpatched boot.img for my build and boot up fine, but there's no root, and wifi doesn't work and cellular data is really flakey (even though I normally have fine reception here).
4) From an unpatched boot.img I switched Magisk Manager to the beta channel and installed v21.1. Then I patched boot.img to make a new magisk_patched.img from the beta channel.
5) When I try to fastboot flash magisk_patched.img to slot A I bootloop.
6) When I try to fastboot boot magisk_patched.img I get stuck on the red dot with 2 white dots orbiting it for seemingly forever.
7) I think something is wrong in my slot B because I mostly just get stuck in fastboot. This might be an unrelated problem from a while back though.
8) When I try to run adb wait-for-device shell magisk --remove-modules, I just get an error message about magisk not being found.
What can I do to get back to a rooted working patched magisk without wiping all my data and starting from scratch?
I've honestly never seen anyone do this before so I'm curious as to how you'll recover from this
My thought are MSM but you may be able to boot. Problem is the magisk modules are still in play.
The adb command may not work for removal as you may not get that far.
Did the installation go through ok? It was just booting that failed?
Could maybe try to wipe system via recovery and go from there.
I'm not too sure buddy.
Keep us posted how u get on.
Edit: Try to boot the boot img.
What model are you on? BA ? I have the boot images in my guides in the guides section. Feel free to take what you need.

You mean the result of fastboot flash magisk_patched.img? Yeah, that has finished fine every time. I'm either stuck bootlooping or booting up never finishes.

I have the US hardware, so I extracted the boot.img from 11.IN21AA, which was the same number that showed up after the OTA was applied.
I dunno, I tried a bunch of different stuff, ended up bricking it. Restored it with MSM to Android 11, then unlocked the bootloader, and tried to flash a fresh magisk_patched.img and it refused to boot in the same way, even though everything was completely fresh.
Are we sure the Magisk beta channel is working right now?

I don't know what lucky patcher is, so I guess not?
Turns out the wifi problem was happening on stock anyway. And EdXposed doesn't support 11 yet either. So I flashed back to 10.5.13 before bothering to set up all my apps. I'm gonna wait a bit longer for until 11 is more ripe.

Hi dladz, can you please give me more info on lucky patcher and how it could affect things. I'm an avid lucky patcher user, and recently had issues with phone not booting, had to do a factory reset. (I wonder if lucky patcher was some how the culprit)

Don't know if you know this or not but you can't even discuss LP on XDA so I'm afraid I can't..
All I know is that it's dodgier than Donald trump's hair and should be avoided like an old woman's waffle.
If you've had problems and lucky patcher was installed that would be top of my list of culprits.
Bootloops, corruption, force closes to name but a few issues, it probably mines for coin using your phone's processor when it's not in use and god only knows what it does with your data, if that's the price of free apps? Id rather pay for them, my data is with more than any app.
Soz mate, that's all I can offer.
Just avoid it.. :good:
