Installed CM 14.1 but OS is still TouchWiz is there! HELP! - Galaxy Grand 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Guys!
I tried to upgrade my Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 using this thread, as I Wiped my device and installed the CM zip
This showed and the device restarted.....
As I have already factory reset the device, the device restarted as TouchWiz.
Help me! I can't install the CM 14.1.

Before doing this
There is some things u should do:
1- root your device (via odin)
2-install the latest custom recovery" TWRP "
It is a flashable zip you should flash it from here
3 - via this recovery you should flash that rom (CM14.1)
And u will be fine

1- my device is not recognized by windows.
2-it is not supported by TWRP.

Dear...i missed some thing . On your computer install Samsung usb drivers
It should make it work on odin?
....if you want to flash something via odin (you should enter download mode on your mobile by switching it off then pressing volume down+power button at the same time

Your device is grand 2 (sm-g7102) right?
---------- Post added at 05:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:49 PM ----------
The first thing..is to root your device via odin
Then flashing recovery (TWRP)
then flashing your preferred rom via TWRP
#Grand_2_is_supported by twrp search in this forum threads for the recovery

On odin on computer
For rooting Check ✔ for( auto rebbot and F.time rest)

okay sir!
i have download the driver but it is still not recognized
But the device is now in this condition

and TWRP does not support grand 2......

Not possible i had twrp on my g2 7102 and I've also installed cm14.1...bro u need to root on any conditions and thats stock recovery u can't install something with that..!!
Have root install recovery then flash...and as ur pc isn't recognizing get ur frnds pc or take someone do that its a simple 10min process to root and to install recovery!
Word of advice: AFTER ROOTING INSTALL RECOVERY WITH THE HELP OF RASHR (flashing tool)
You will get it on playstore and Google an IMG. file for flashing.

Its already rooted but I did it using Kingo root and if its not right then give another way.
And my device does not get recognized by any pc. I tried it on HP, Compaq, Dell, Lenovo, iMac but it didn't worked.
Please dont give a method with pc involved!

Try changing usb cable?
.
.
That situation of mobile is right
After u make ur device enter that download mode
Put the usb on it

If u installed the driver then
Check that odin in the latest version
And when you open odin app
And insert usb on ur mobile
You will get something on app interface

The thing is like
COM:9 and some thing like that....
.....man dont search for twrp on google
Open XDa forum and search in it
Or search on google" SM-g7012 TWRP XDa"

I installed the drivers but still it is not recognized and according to this thread I tried to install the TWPR recovery and guess what.....I cant do it coz my device is not recogzied by pc.
i tried changing wire, i tried changing pc but it does not work.
And the the TWRP recovery given in the link above is not right. It have a .dll file and .exe file which can not be used for a mobile phone.

Again i will say the instructions:
1-files should be downloaded are:
odin program for computer
Samsung usb drivers
TWRP for mobile
(You said you have rooted your mobile?? If correct then try installing TWRP from google play maybe it has the recovery) and i will search for the correct link if the twrp apk didn't work
2. Follow these carfully.........
after install odin and Samsung usb drivers on computer...#open odin app
Then put your mobile in download mode
Then connect it to usb
It should be recognised☺ if not (maybe there is a problem with your mobile)

Mmmm: maybe that because you root your device without odin..maybe
..i think the problem is with your usb (or your mobile usb ic)
Try installing another odin?

Link of odin

If odin works
Download this zip
https://download.chainfire.eu/400/CF-Root1/CF-Auto-Root-ms013g-ms013gxx-smg7102.zip?retrieve_file=1
Unzip (decompress) it and put the file from the zip
in PDA(AP) button on odin
connect your mobile on download mode
Then press start

Let me tell you that I have already downloaded and installed the Driver and Odin.
Probably the problem is with me device's USB IC as it does not connects with any any PC.
My PC still can't recognize it. Suggest a way without PC if possible.
Thanks for your help.

Ohh that's sad, should I go to any service center to get it checked?
Or just some cleaning would be okay?

Unable to flash custom ROM (error executing updater binary in zip)

I am trying to install this ROM: https://forum.xda-developers.com/zuk-z1/development/rom-resurrection-remix-n-5-8-3-t3592452
I tried installing it through TWRP 3.0.2 but that was showing an error saying
'updater process ended with error 255'
I then switched to an unofficial TWRP (2.8.7.0) and now it shows this error:
'error executing updater binary in zip'
Does anyone know a solution?
I was trying a clean install so I completely wiped the stock ROM without taking a back up so I am kinda stuck.

Try rebooting back to recovery and retry installation of rom.
Or Please flash twrp 3.0.2 or 3.1.0... Then retry...
Check if enough storage space is available for installation of rom.
See if you have any other rom file on phone.. Install that and then see..
Plus it will give you a working phone for a while.. Also, you would be able to check if rom file is fine or it is corrupted or not fully downloaded.
---------- Post added at 05:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:00 PM ----------

You will have to do this:
1. Open the rom file in your computer/laptop using winrar
2. go to META-INF > COM > GOOGLE > ANDROID > UPDATER-SCRIPT
3. Open this UPDATER-SCRIPT in notepad++ or any other text editor software
4. You will find a line starting with "assert", just remove this whole statement (starting from "assert" and ending with brackets & semi colon just like this => ");")
*. After removing above statement, Nuclea Rom's updater-script file looks like this:
ui_print("Target: ZUK/ham/Z1:7.1.2/N2G47O/3bee626032:userdebug/test-keys");
ifelse(is_mounted("/system"), unmount("/system"));
package_extract_dir("install", "/tmp/install");
..............................................(& so on)
You will be able to install this rom now

What do you need bro? I got G2 D802.
Have you try hardware factory reset press button: Power + Volume Up, when see LG logo release and press it again to get to reset screen.
What you can do with adb. may be you can flash recovery I think.

Sorry, did you download the backup and place under your phone internal storage path: TWRP/Backup/Yourdevicename/
You need to put my backup folder: 2017-02-24--09-54-10_Lp5.1-powerG2-Bra-4.2Gb, under it.

If you cannot use TWRP just flash it first use Adb, then you can enter TWRP maybe can copy file from pc to G2 in TWRP mode.
Adb commands just Google for it:
Try this (worked with subfolders): adb push mySourceFolder/. myDestAndroidFolder UPD: empty folders do not copy to android device.
or this: It requires a trailing slash for me: adb push mySourceFolder/. myDestAndroidFolder/
I am not sure if you need the TWRP path with device name for the backup: /TWRP/Backup/Devicename/
If you can enter TWRP you can back up boot image or something to have the path with device name. Then maybe you can also connect the G2 with USB cable to pc while you are in TWRP mode maybe you can copy the back up file directory I am not 100 percent sure.

i followed this guide for rooting
https://forum.xda-developers.com/phab-2/how-to/how-to-root-phab-2-pb2-650y-t3524305
The only trouble I had was unlocking the bootloader, and this step wasn't mentioned it the guide. Before flashing the code to unlock bootloader, in the developer options, (in the phone) I didn't checked the OEM unlocking. After I checked it, flashed the unlock bootloader code successfully, the phone restored to factory, then flashed the TWRP. Just as it's described in the guide. The only difference I noticed is that dlto enter recovery mode after twrp is install you have to push at the same time vol down button + power button.
if after you have root and install twrp you want to install xposed framework, just look for the xposed installer for android 6 arm64 devices.
i used this one here.

They're pretty much the same, the difference is on the LTE bands, the M has works with more I think. (besides the retail region).
I had a similiar problem, and the issue was that the bootloader wasn't being unlocked flashing the commands. It turns out that the thing keeping the bootloader from unlocking was that little OEM UNLOCK check in the DEVELOPER OPTIONS. After I checked that one, tried again, and this time it worked, I first noticed it because the phone started wiping to a factory reset automatically. After that I just put it into fastboot mode, flashed TWRP. And done.
I don't know if this is the same issue you're having. But for me it was a little frustrating trying and trying without success, until I noticed that little detail and that was it.
At the moment I have it rooted with xposed working just fine. The only issue (don't know if it's only me), is when recording a video using 3rd party apps like instagram or snapchat, the audio is garbage, like some noise cancellation going wrong.
im sure i had that ticked but i guess not. will retry once i fix my xiaomi redmi note 3 who has a memory failure (same on my mom's phone redmi note 3) both crashed 2weeks apart from each other. they boot but as soon as u download 5apps thr phone bootloops... and now im trying to get mi flash to work but its been a long time and i can't figure it out... so now using this massive phone fr 3months its a good phone but damn that quad core is slow... and apps close way to quick on back ground. anyway i will try and root again some dag and install linea os.

Problem with sound

after i rooted my samsung galaxy j5 2017 SM-530F there's no external sound, only working through earphones. I tried the app SoundAbout but it's not working. Any permanent fixes available? Thanks
Restore it to factory setting. If that does not work then do a full hard reset.Which method did you use?
I used twrp to root
I just did factory reset. It didn't work
Tried hard reset via buttons?recovery mode?
---------- Post added at 06:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:08 PM ----------
If that also doesn't work then you have to flah your phone!
---------- Post added at 06:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:08 PM ----------
For flashin go to firmware.mobi
And download the recover + boot image with tar.md5 extrnsion.Download odin and flash your phone after putting it in download mode. You may have to enable usb debugging and disable oem unlock.
If that does not work then download the whole firmware from sammobile or samsung firmware.org etc and flash it.
How do I do the Hard reset? If that doesn't work I'll flash it
I flashed stock rom. Could you help me root my phone now without any problems?
I've tried downloading root file from firmware.mobi and flashed it and there's no root
well i don't know.Root file over at firmware.mobi did not work for me either on my j500f.Except it turned it into J5 2016 and caused bootloop.
But try kingroot apk.
Then try Kingroot pc if above does not work.
If both do not work then go to cf auto root website and look for your model.
Anyways,Did you (flashing)solve the sound problem?Plus Hard rest is done by turning your phone off. Then presing
volume up + Home + Power Key.Then wiping data/factory reset. Then you have to reboot.

Link for Cf auto root.Flash via Odin.Use AP.Untick Auto Reboot.Hope this works.
First try the king root methods.

Man your going about this like a pure cowboy!
Download Odin to PC and flash twrp. Then download Magisk to your SD card and flash it through twrp. That's the method you should definitely use not kingroot
kingroot does not void warranty.
with kingroot you can unroot easily.
with kingroot you can do hard reset.
kingroot does not brick your device.
i have done thousands of software updates pro.Revived hundreds of dead phones.made thousands for the guy i did it for.Have many different software boxes and dongles.cm2,miracle,ufsx,infinity,octoplus,z3x,gsm aladin.
I was just trying to help the guy.And i mentioned try many times.I just hopes that his problem would be solved.
It is very easy for me to do thing with just some clicks using these boxes.Unfortunately not all guys have these boxes available. They cost millions overall.

Problems with LineageOS on Verizon, where do I go from here?

Hello, I have been trying to fix this oddly specific issue with my Moto G7 running LineageOS. I can make and receive calls fine, but I have issues receiving texts. I can send them, but replies are delayed from a few minutes to an hour or two. I am unsure of why this has happened, but I remember trying to install LineageOS for Micro G and noticing this after. However, I didn't happen to be texting much before this, so it may not be relevant.
Anyways, I went to Verizon twice and they confirmed there was no issue with the sim card. However, when they tried replacing it, the system didn't recognize it at all and it couldn't even make a phone call.
I am honestly stuck and I do not know where to go from here. I've tried finding stock firmware but the issue persists after flashing what I THINK is the correct firmware and reinstalling. I really don't want to have to pay for a new phone (one that would likely be way more expensive than this one), so please give me anything I could work with.
Go back to stock 10, make calls and texts (including MMS), and then twrp, los17.1, gapps, root and start over
What's your phone model?

May have to erase modem partitions and then reinstall stock 10 using "adb shell" command while in fastboot mode:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/modemst1
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/modemst2
I have the same model, I'll try your solution now.

After installing the firmware, my device does not boot and stays on the unlocked bootloader warning. I can easily reinstall LineageOS, but my issue still persists.

Do you mean that stock 10 won't boot? Any errors while installing stock 10? Which batch file did u use to automate all the fastboot commands?
Fastboot batch file
Unzip for bat file, put file in adb folder which should have all the files of stock ROM zip file that's been unzipped, and run it at dos prompt

Okay I went back to stock and found that the issue was not present. I shall report this to the LineageOS devs or something. Is there anything else this could possibly be?
Once VZW drops CDMA and adopts GSM, this prob will be gone (1/2021)
