Firmware install for Huawei Y560 - Huawei Y5 (2017) Questions & Answers

Hello,
So this is pretty straightforward, I need to install a stock (or any working) firmware into a bricked, Huawey Y600 phone, yes y600 the post title is wrong but I can't change it
So to speed things up.
Installing a ROM from the SD is out of the question,
Performing a hard reset is out of the question,
Performing ANY action that involves the screen is out of the question,
because the phone is bricked and only shows a white screen.
This would have been straightforward for a Samsung, or LG, or even a Microsoft phone by using each company's firmware PC program. Huawey phones on the other hand don't have one of those, or if they do it's a pretty well kept company secret, I couldn't find anything like that.
I did find this tool
http://www.androiddevs.net/guide-fl...ols-android-one-devices-micromaxspicekarbonn/
but it didn't work for me, I was getting a scatter file error. I probably did something wrong but the information on these guides was way too limited. At least the phone didn't go totally black or unresponsive.
I also don't know how to do the fastboot method so this could work if someone could help me.
So any help would be nice.
- John

Come on people.
I've tried adb devices, it's not recognized.
Downloaded the drivers from here : http://gsmusbdriver.com/huawei-ascend-y600
they show "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"
What else can I try?

For anyone interested I found this flash and it worked
http://uplod.ir/51e5afinjj00/Y600-U...wait_Iran__by_yahoo_id_:_linuxmobile_.rar.htm
I also used SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1352.01 and the driver I found here : https://androidmtk.com/download-huawei-usb-drivers
Case closed. Admin please mark as solved and correct title if possible.

Need help... cannot figure rooting out

Hi all,
Long story short, I accidentally bought a Kindle Fire HD 7. I was hoping to root it but I've had nothing but difficulty. Can anyone help me with the things below? ** Please don't reply if you can't - the disorder and unmoderation of this forum is part of the confusion problem **
- The apps that are given on this site mostly don't work for 7.2.3. Is this an issue with the version?
- I kept getting permission denied errors. Nothing that pushes over, pushes successfully - yet it says it does
- When I finally got something "rooted", my status bar and home bar (at the bottom) are all gone. I can pretty much do nothing with it
- I can't figure out how to restore. I can get into FastBoot mode fairly easily, but when I try to do anything I get "waiting on device" errors. Any ideas?
- I'm a Mac guy, but running Windows 7 to do this. I've tried various versions of drivers posted on the board, but W7 is just a PITA to work with. When it goes into Fastboot, it comes up as an "unrecognized device" in Device Manager. Would this be part of the problem? I've tried to associate drivers with the unknown device, but it keeps saying the driver it has is the best (even though I've removed it).
And while I admit, an emotional rant after spending way too long having to do the above..:
- This forum is a complete mess.. can people with KF HD 8.9's get out of the forum and quit replying or giving advice on the wrong device? Mods, please shut down or move KFHD 8.9 posts. For people trying to find out info, it's seriously a mess.

Ok what is the state of your KFHD? 7"? I would try to use this toolhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1951254 to restore your kindle and getting back to a working state. If you have any questions post them in here or that forum and I will try to guide you through anything. You should not try to use an automated root tool if it isn't for your specified version(7" 7.2.3) and using a automated tool, I think personally, is just not good in general. What does the device manager specifically say when you are in fastboot? It shoulde look like this:
Thanks for getting back to me. I have indeed also tried that, but I encounter the Fastboot problem mentioned above. I can get it into FB mode fine, but when I go to do anything, it gets stuck at "waiting for device". I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong?
I'm using Windows 7 (gah)... just for the purpose of this. Believe me, it reminds me why I've left Windows looonngg ago
PS All automated tools were specific to my model and version #.. i wouldn't do otherwise.
And I forgot to say, it shows the yellow triangle warning signs.
I have however installed all the right drivers that I got on various places on the forums. Any ideas why it's doing that? (USB debugging/ADB is enabled of course)

Try to reinstall the appropriate drivers.. first uninstall the ones you have now then reinstall.. if you have the yellow triangle in device manager the drivers are not installed correctly
I've tried that.. not sure what I need to do now. (I hate Windows)
The drivers appear fine when not in Fastboot (ie regular ADB) just not when in Fastboot

You do know that ADB and Fastboot are different.. Correct? They are two different cmd lines to execite comds to your kindle..does your kindle boot? What is its state? what are you seeing or does it even run at all>
I thought I made this clear in other posts, sorry
My Kindle boots fine normally, but in my attempts to root it, it's screwed something up (my menubar doesn't appear). I wished to restore it using the tool above.
I can get it into Fastboot, but I can't actually perform any actions due to it saying "waiting for device". Most ADB functionality works fine, i.e. to push apps. But I also can't get it rooted.
My issue is that when it is in Fastboot...not when it's not. That is what I'm trying to figure out.

Have you tried Kindle Fire First Aide tool and the restore option of you version?
Yes, I have.
And my issue remains - when in Fastboot mode, it also gets stuck on "waiting for device".
When normal boot, ADB functions are fine. It communicates.. things happen
When in fastboot (I have a WordArt looking 'fastboot' logo on the screen) then nothing appears to communicate, and my Device Manager claims it has an "Unknown Device" that it wont let me manually install drivers for.
Windows 7 is x64 if that makes a difference

Try a factory reset on the device and if that doesn't work go to Chris's thread, KFFirstAide and post your problems that you having with the software. He will help you figure out if something is wrong with your device or its the software. I would think its user related, in the nicest way possible. A lot of times we get are selves all worked up over this stuff and forget to specific steps, I am guilty as well. Maybe take a step back for a few hours and then give it another shot.. Sorry I couldnt help more but I currently don't have my KFHD bc I just got a new one shipped to me and still waiting for it to arrive.. If i had my device in front of me I would probably be able to find you a solution.. Its been three weeks since I have seen a Kindle and my memory is vanishing
How do you propose I do a factory reset?

right.. menubar is gone.. how the F did that happen.. I don't get all these people having so much problem with rooting their devices and $hit disappearing.. Can you download soft keys? I don't remember if you need to be rooted or not too..
If I knew the answer to that question, I wouldn't be here. I do not see how I can download soft keys.. unless they're in the Amazon store?

Hey man just trying to help you.. I'm not the one with the problem, although I am making my problem bc I am trying to help. Go over to either thread KFFirstAide or KFHD system.img resotre tool and post your problem.. good luck
So I got it restored; I had to execute the app open in adb to get into Settings. Still can't figure out how to get the Win 7 to recognize it in Fastboot mode.. I just get "waiting for device"

Do you mean you get that when you select the option to reboot into fastboot mode, or that you are already on the fastboot screen but nothing is happening?
I had the exact same issue with missing status bar and softkeys, cazy annoying. So hopefully I can remember exactly what I did, depending on your answer to my question though
In regular mode, I had missing status bar and softkeys. I restored factory settings (by using adb to get into the settings screen). They are now back.
Now, I have it rooted (well, I have Superuser loaded at least and it appears to be working)... but that is all. It still feels half-done to me.
With the FirstAide tool I'm getting into Fastboot and then I was going to use it to restore it using the Restore Tool here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1951254
But it doesn't work.. I can load into the Fastboot screen (wordart logo) but it doesn't connect to the device... I just get "waiting for device" and that's where it stops. The WIndows 7 PC I'm using just says that an unknown device has connected and leaves it there.
Ideally, I wish to load Google Play etc, but I can't do that using the First Aide tool. It throws a lot of permission denied errors at me.. reboots several times, says it has been successful but none of the apps are there.
Ideas? I feel like I'm getting closer... perhaps..!
Have you tried running a app that needs root and seeing if the "grant permission" window pops up when you run it. There is a root checker app that you could install from the Noobs Guide to rooting, which should do the trick. SUChecker.apk http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069117
If you have managed to get the UI bars back, how come you want to use the restore tool to reset the whole kindle?
If you root is working fine, and you want to install google play then follow the Alternative Manual Install from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069329 instead of using the first aide tool, which seems to be giving a few issues at the moment.
Another random solution is make sure you are using a usb2 port instead of a usb3 port(if you have one)

[help] My Chinese Nokia X6 either is or appears to be rooted out of the box.

I bought a Nokia X6 from China and the phone appears to be rooted. The play store app System info says that I have all the correct specs but also tells me the phone is rooted. Additionally, when booting my phone gives me a message that says: Your device has loaded a different operating system. I have pretty much no idea what to do and honestly just would want a normal stock phone so any help would be very much appreciated.
Same here, except I have no issues with it saying its rooted
just the boot message
If you want a normal stock phone then don't buy Chinese oem devices. They have to add tons of tracking and spying software that is required by the Chinese government. You can research it. Many are even banned in many countries due to their back ally tactics

I managed to solve the problem. If you don't have a lot of experience with Android, you'll have to do a bunch of research, but you should manage. Very roughly, I pretty much flashed a new operating system on the phone. I found the correct os rom from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-6/help/nokia-x6-nokia-6-1-plus-global-rom-t3822657. I'm definitely a novice in doing weird **** with androids so don't consider me an expert or anything, but I did get my phone to work.
If you don't know what to do here's a rough guide.
1. Get adb to work
Adb is basically a way for your computer to tell crude instructions to your phone and all kinds of random ****. The very very first thing you should do is unlock developer options and turn on developer options by going to settings->system->about phone and click on build number something like 7 times and then go back to system, where developer options have appeared and turn on OEM unlocking and usb debugging. You should be able to find some type of adb installer installer simply by googling how to install adb or something, I can't remember at all where i found mine from, but there are certainly a lot of guides online. It really doesn't matter that much if it's from a few years back, as long as adb works. Your phone should install all correct drivers from your phone simply by connecting it, but you may need to download qualcomm drivers online, I don't really know because I downloaded every random driver online until finally it worked. All I can say that to finally get it to work I connected my phone to my computer via cable with usb debugging enabled and clicked the windows message so that the phone agreed to the final necessary drivers and amazingly it worked. To make sure that everything you need is in working order type the following commands into adb:
First "adb devices" if it says something like device found, DRG...., everything's good so far
Then "adb reboot bootloader" and "fastboot devices", if it says the same thing again, adb is completely installed.
I found this to be by far the hardest part in the whole operation, because the Nokia X6 is such a new phone that there are no real guides or official drivers online. Don't be discouraged if it takes some time to get through this part!
2. Unlock your bootloader
Nokia is pretty cool and all, but that they are pretty restrictive with their phones so that you actually have to pay to a third party to be able to unlock your bootloader. You need to buy a bootloader unlock key from this place: https://www.techmesto.com/buy-nokia-bootloader-unlock-key/. I know it seems super shady, but it at least worked for me so there's that. I wouldn't really buy the unlock key before getting adb to work, though. After that, you'll probably be best off following this guide to unlock the bootloader: https://www.techmesto.com/guide-unlock-bootloader-nokia-android-phones/
3. Install the nokia online service tool and nb0 unpacker
The Nokia OST you can find here: https://www.theandroidsoul.com/download-nokia-online-service-tool-ost/, and I think the guide there is pretty self-explanatory, so just follow that. The nb0 unpacker you can find here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/nb0-unpacker-packer-tool-t3699464. This one should be very simple to install.
4. Download the Nokia X6 operating system and unpack it so you can flash it with the online service tool.
The nokia X6 operating system can be found from the google drive link in this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-6/help/nokia-x6-nokia-6-1-plus-global-rom-t3822657, and be sure to pick the on mentioned in the post, the one labeled "DRG-229E-0-00CN-B01". After downloading it, you should be able to find a .nb0 file in the zip. Extract it somewhere nice and then use the nb0 unpacker you installed to unpack it. After this, open the mlf-file in the unpacked nb0 folder and follow the following instruction found on the download post i linked before:
"Modify *.mlf file, line 7 ~ 9;
INITOPTION = 0x20000
INITDLTYPE = 0x60
SECURITY_VER = 0x0001" @Xkernels
5. Flash the os on your phone
Make sure to delete everything from your phone before doing this, because every guide I've seen instructs to do this. This may not even be necessary as the OST setting you'll check later indicate that everything will be erased anyways, but idk what could happen so better safe than sorry. You can do this probably in many ways but one way i found is to go to recovery (type "adb reboot recovery" on your pc and then press the power and vol up button at the same time), and factory reset. Then go to the bootloader from there and type "fastboot erase system". A bunch of text should appear and you should be set to flash. Now with your phone connected to your pc, open the Nokia OST and "Select *.mlf files and tick "Normal Download", "Erase user data", "Erase error data", begin to flash." @Xkernels.
6. Your phone should be ready to use, though it will probably need some configuring
The first things you'll probably want to do is use the browser to download a google play apk online after which you can use the play store and download all necessary apps from online. I couldn't find netflix from the appstore but I simply downloaded the apk online and it works too. I had problems with the stock keyboard so I installed Gboard, but all apps should be in working order and my phone works without a hitch now!
For the record if you manage to brick your phone during the process, don't hold me liable. If you followed this guide, you probably bought a chinese random phone and it didn't work like you wanted it to and wanted to fix the problems by installing an operating system from online, using a guide from a person you didn't know at all. All I can say is that what I did worked for me and I simply wanted to help strangers on the internet and this worked for me. So if, because of this guide, everything is ****ed with your phone and your computer is full of viruses, I will most likely be glad to help and you can blame me by yourself, but I definitely would appreciate if you would simply be civil and not tell me how I'm an awful person, because once again, I'm just a Finnish guy, who himself bought a Nokia for 200€ from eBay and had to spend hours upon hours of my own time trying various methods of getting my phone to work and learning how to use adb and how to flash roms on my phone. Honestly the experience was pretty fun for me, because I like to do random **** like this and learning new things, but I did have other things to do with my time like study physics and even now I wrote this, in my own biased opinion pretty good, guide using my own time, simply because knowing I did something good brings joy to my heart.

Same here, so anyone help us to solve this problem?

BootLooping

I have tried recovery mode and factory reset.
I'd like to refashioned the os and give that a try. But I don't want a custom Rom unless that Rom can be updated without flashing.
I really don't want to have to buy another phone right now.
I have googled the issue but the links are from 2017. I want some up to date links with current info.
Also a nice step by step tutorial would be nice. As I'm not experienced flashing and whatnot. Oh and no sarcastic comments like "step 1: find the stock Rom, step 2 plug into pc and flash" because that really doesn't help.

Only using attitude because people always send a bunch of useless inks from years ago with links to mega or google drive that no longer exists.
I just wasn't in the mood for the same crap I was told when I tried to flash stuff onto an LG G4. Stuff like being given instructions assuming I'm experienced and dead links. I'm tired of clicking on mega and drive links only to find what I'd been searching for has been deleted.
Even new phones have mega files people would remove.
I'm not blaming anyone. I was just sternly for the right stuff and no vague responses.
Yes I can use the search.
I should just garbage this phone. All I've read about it was issues and issues. Every SD810 and SD808 has been nothing but a mess.
I'll easily blame qualcomm for that one.
If you aren't experienced and not willing to take the time to learn...don't bother trying to flash. And regardless of the fact that all people don't provide "relevant" info/help, you should still be thankful. No one here has to do/help with all this stuff, it is a community and should be appreciated.

I can't install the android USB drivers because the PC doesn't connect to ANY port on my PC so I can't update the drivers (restarted, full shutdown, two different cords)
I can't get into the phone to access developer mode so I can unlock the bootloader
Let's start there. I found a video on youtube, but the link the guy provided was dead, it was a 3 year old link afterall.
I think, I am doing it right?
I am installing the Android Developer thing so I can get the drivers installed for the device.
then I can try and unlock the bootloader "somehow" I have yet to look into this.
I just HATE HATE HATE, when I am trying to do one thing and 6 other things get in my way and then things stem and branch off from those things that it results in me being so far from the original task that it's just aimless.
on BB10, to flash new OS, you downloaded a EXE file for windows, pressed it twice, said yes I am an admin and BAM, os was flashed.
Why can't android be that simple.
EDIT: if I let the phone sit, it goes to an "encryption unsuccessful" screen then hangs there for ages then just restarts. Sometimes I can get a factory reset option, but that doesn't do anything.
I went into recovery mode to wipe it, NOTHING
wiped the cache, nothing.
I am very very very frustrated. That's all. I just didn't want to be frusterted and then someone nicely comes along and says "watch this video, it has everything you need" then that video has dead links or something. I still am frusterated.
Why is the OS failing to encrypt, why is it corrupt?
Okay, new issue.
I can't get into the OS to bootloader unlock the phone. So I get an oem unlock error through adb. I guess this is the end of the road right?
Look for nexus 6p 4 core fix and you'll find the info you need.

Asus Zenphone 5Q (ZC600KL) Recovery (WT89199) - SOLVED

I made a huge mistake with my Asus Zenphone 5Q (ZC600KL) and I'm freaking out. I rooted my phone and I accidentally deleted - like actually deleted - some google apps that I shouldn't have. So I thought oh hey no big deal I'll just reset the phone in TWRP. I ended up completely wiping my OS. So I went to the Asus website and downloaded the stock firmware for my device just to find out when I try to install it in TWRP I get an error that prevents me from installing it. I double checked and it is the correct firmware that I downloaded but in TWRP installer it says "Updater process ended with Error 7" and it also says "E3004: This package is for "ASUS_X017D_2" devices; this is a "wt89199"". So I tried looking for the WT89199 stock firmware online and there is next to nothing other than literally ONE google drive link that isn't even working which doesn't even make sense. The asus website doesn't seem to have this stock firmware.
I feel really hopeless I've never messed up this bad before and I feel like I've looked everywhere and I just can't find any solutions this time. This is pretty much my last resort. If anyone knows how where I can get the right firmware or fix TWRP so I can install the firmware from the ASUS website, I would be so grateful. I'm completely out of options..
UPDATE: I think I may have found a solution with the right firmware but I still can't boot it up. Here is the link to the files ( https :// mshare.io /file/2fSAy4 - remove the spaces I'm new so I can't post links ) if someone more experienced could look at them and determine how I should go about getting it on my device. Right now I have no OS and can only access TWRP. Anyone know what to do with this?[/B]
UPDATE - SOLUTION: THANK GOD IN THE HEAVENS I'VE FIGURED IT OUT. MY PHONE IS FIXED. Someone please pin this or save it or something because I've seen a few other people with this issue and no resolved answers anywhere so if you are struggling with this issue, HERE IS THE SOLUTION for the ASUS Zenphone 5Q ZC600KL. If you're a dumbass like me and accidentally wiped your OS like I did and you were lucky enough to have TWRP and fastboot still available, you still have a fighting chance. Go to https :// mshare.io /file/2fSAy4 (remove the spaces) and download the file. I already scanned it and there are no viruses but feel free to also do so yourself. Next, you are going to want to extract the file into its own folder. Plug your device into your computer via USB cable and start your device up into fastboot mode. Now, inside the folder you just extracted is a file called "SOP_to_flash_Images_by_fastboot_v1.1-en". Open that and it has instructions for both Windows and Linux operating systems to flash these files onto your device.
Side note: if you get an error that says something like "target didn't report max-download-size sending 'modem' fastboot mode..." etc etc after executing "flashall_AFT.cmd 1", try plugging your usb cable into a different port. I had this issue and switched ports and everything worked smoothly after and all the files will automatically flash onto your device.
If there are any mods that can add the download file directly to this post in case it ends up getting taken down in the future, this would be so incredibly helpful because there are currently no solutions to this issue other than this post. There really isn't much recovery info out there at all about the Asus Zenphone 5Q so I hope this will be a first step!

I have the same phone Asus ZenFone ZC600KL X017DA
This phone is actually the wife's but she handed it over to me because it was stuck on the Asus Logo and there is no recovery options the only 2 modes it has is CSC fastboot mode and EDL mode .. fastboot commands detects the phone and will display a serial number that match what's on the phones box device information states false under bootloader unlocked same with unlock critical
Trying to flashall will just throw up an error write protected
Issue is I cannot unlock the bootloader with the given tool from Asus as it's an apk file and phone doesn't boot and for the same reason I cannot enable OEM unlock and debugging
So kinda screwed and based on all the firmwares that Asus has for this phone I'm guessing around 15 maybe more from early 2018 until now so I cannot be sure I even got the right version
I have to make clear this phone has NEVER been rooted or modded in anyway not unless you count cracked screen glass as a mod haha
I should note the ball n chain did say for a while the phone was getting a bit hot I put that down to the fact she has mobile data active always and making videos and charging at same time

Restore BNTV460 Stock Firmware help

I flashed the extracted aiomobilestuff.com BNTV460-v1.0.0_20180724.zip using spflash tool. However, the tablet now barely runs. The barnes and noble settings and apps crash if I try log in. The startup wizard crashes the first time, and I sometimes get a red border around every time I tap something.
Is there a way to fix this tablet or is it a dud now?
Ive tried factory reset, clear cache, nothing works. Interestingly, if I go to the normal settings app, nothing appears under serial number, etc. So it's no longer being able to read some of the hardware I'm guessing.

Hey, if you still have this device laying around somewhere, could you try updating from that firmware to see what happens?

I can't update, every time I try to access the barnes and noble settings app it crashes, every time I try to open the B&N app to log in, once I enter my username and password it crashes also.

I've been experimenting with my own since I bricked mine as well, and I was able to bring mine to full functionality. Here are a few things I learned. The scatter file in the firmware on the internet is messed up. They made the scatter file incorrectly, so as a result, whenever you flash the device with it you have to completely flash it. Their firmware has also been tampered with and probably doesn't have a serial number in it. So, I bet you wiped all of your partitions, including ones that potentially had the serial number. I dunno how to fix it, maybe see if you can get a new one from B&N for no extra cost. Unless you have a full sp flash tool backup of the device before you bricked it, I'm unsure of what to do for you. I was able to help myself because I only messed up system.img, which I took a backup of before modifying it, and I used the wwr_mtk + sp flash tool guide to make a proper scatter file so I could flash my system.img using download in sp flash tool. (Also sorry that it's been a few months since I've responded, I just thought up how I could fix my own device last night and successfully did it). Also, here is my scatter file.

So here is the only solution I can think of (if you still have this device).
Download the latest boot.img and system.img (available here https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=4349826312261752630 ) and use the scatter file to flash them to the device (download mode and check system and boot and select both of the files). Let me know if you encounter any errors if you try this. NOTE: This rom is only for the Oreo version of this device, BNTV460, so for anybody with the BNTV450/Marshmallow device, your device likely will get messed up by this.

I'm getting an error, "S_DL_GET_DRAM_SETTING_FAIL - Obtain DRAM Failed" when trying to flash any firmware files. I've tried a few different versions of SP Flasher and drivers... any input on that? How did you power on your device for flashing? My battery is completely dead and I'm plugging it in after hitting Download of SP Flasher... it recognizes the device and begins flashing, but fails.

Questions I have for you that may influence how you should handle this:
- Is the tablet you are on the Marshmallow Nook Tablet 7 (BNTV450) or the Oreo Nook Tablet 7" (BNTV460)? Ignore the rest of my questions and my advice if it is the Marshmallow BNTV450 one.
- Did you flash the stock rom that the original author of this thread flashed (the shady one that messed his device up) before trying this?
- Are you able to boot into any kind of OS? If so, let it charge and then go into that OS and finish charging before doing anything
That error sounds like a result of the shady stock firmware, since it has a different scatter file. Flashing that rom makes people lose some specific device identifiers that make it so the original firmware from B&N won't work anymore as I have seen so far.
Here is my advice if you have the Oreo Nook Tablet 7": Charge the BNTV460 as much as you can, and follow this guide to make a backup of the exact firmware on that Nook Tablet 7" https://forum.hovatek.com/thread-21970.html If the readback step gives you that same dram setting error, your device is likely a brick if it cannot boot into any OS, and you should try to exhaust any type of warranty or replacement plan with B&N that you have to get a replacement, otherwise you can continue with the rest of the guide to make a proper scatter file and rom backup for your device. I will try to guide you to my best of my ability, but this is a really confusing area due to all of the things that can go wrong and all of the risks of bricking the device permanently.

Thanks for the quick response. It is the BNTV450/Marshmallow, which may be part of the problem. I do get the same error on the readback. It may be time to just retire the thing and grab a new ereader, I got a few years out of it and it was cheap.
EDIT: To respond to your question, I did use the shady ROM above. So note to others: don't do that...

Yeah, your device may be completely bricked. The Nook Tablet 7's are confusing due to the two of them being only slightly different, but different enough for disaster to happen.
