Improve Audio? - Sprint LG G6 Questions & Answers

The one thing that I really dislike on the LG G6 (LG-LS993) is the audio. It has a "tinny" sound. Is anyone aware of any way to improve that? I'm thinking of software solutions. I know I can use my ear buds or my Blue-Tooth speaker system but there are times when that isn't practical; such as showing a video to someone else. Thanks.

Have you tried : jetAudio HD Music Player or VLC Player???

If all of your music is downloaded into your phone into the file system there is an app called Poweramp in the Play Store..... It is amazing it's three bucks but you can have a three-week trial I have found it has Soothed me from not being able to have viper audio being that we are stuck without root. The only downfall is this EQ and music player system is for everything in your library or file system but the tweaks are great and it's full of features..... I just returned my G6 for a v30 plus it works on both.
We may be in the same boat I want something that works with YouTube and Google play music

I lied I just got it working with Google Play Music there's a ton of settings in it and it's sounding amazing you should try it out it's a free trial I attached a picture of what it looks like that way you don't have to pay if you don't like it but my car has garbage speakers and it really helps my Bluetooth Loud areas
There are game settings in the menu you can hike up and then the 7-band EQ the first bar all the way to the left is actually pre app control not EQ lol!
If you try it out and have any questions hit me up but I think this app works great I'm going to try and get it going with you tube. And if you like Last FM there is special settings for that app by itself

If you're a fan of Google Play music only I found this version of Dolby Digital just download and install it but do not open the app reboot your phone and install Google Play Music if Google play music is already installed then after you go through the reboot open Google Play Music go to the menu settings hit refresh then scroll down for equalizer and the Dolby app will open right up.....quite a few settings in it

Thank you for your suggestions. I tried VLC Player and it sounded pretty good but it kept losing my music. The music was still there but I had to keep pointing to the location. Anyway, I'm trying out Rocket Player right now.

Touchwiz music player

ok just switched from a international galaxy s here, enjoying the amazing speed of the Epic, it's crazy fast but I miss many of the touchwiz features, like the music player, I loved the Equalizer and the UI of the touchwiz music player, but the biggest feature I miss is the music controls in the notification bar and lock screen, it made multitasking a joy !
any idea if we can install the touchwiz music player in our phones ? is there a APK or something ? will the status pull down controls and Lockscreen controls work ?
You could try searching the system dump of the i9000 t see if you can find the apks, but even then it might not work...

I sold my phone, I have only the Epic 4g now. I'll try over at the galaxy s forum.
i switch from the vibrant and thats the only thing i miss please if u find the way let us know
does the EQ work over other apps too? like Pandora?
I, too, would like to have that music player. I would also greatly enjoy having the video player so I can adjust brightness and have it save where I left off on the movie.
The stupid stock one we have restarts the movie every time I navigate away.

If we could get a system dump of the I9000, we could try to port it to the The Boss ROM.
for video I'm using rock player, it's not as smooth in playing back certain filetypes as the stock player{only a few 720P MKVs everything else works perfectly}, but it has all those features like remembering where you left, adjusting brightness etc.
BTW I'm thinking the Froyo update should bring the music player, cause every other galaxy s has it ,there's no reason why the Epic shouldn't get it.
it the mean time I'm using MiXing along with quickdesk to control music playback in the background, which is nowhere near as not as good ,but it works.
also does anyone know a music player app that can play flac files ,thats another thing I miss ?
I'm going to try and port this over if I get the chance tonight. Ill report back my progress.

Guys, for video just get mvideoplayer from the market. Puts rokplayer to shame, handles everything including mkv with subs and resumes where you left off.
As for the music player, having never used or seen the music player on the other galaxy phones, i really don't know what i am missing as i am fine with the stock Android music player.
Is it possible to pull those features off the Fascinate because I think mine has them but he maybe talking about something else.

One that works even better is Wuzhenhua Player...I've yet to find a video that won't play using it. I tried the MPlayer that you suggested, but it wouldn't play videos that Wuz still does, so I'm sticking w/ Wuz.
It's not available on the market, but I found it using Google. The latest version, as far as I know, is 4.1 which has been converted to English...worked great on my Moment, and even better on my Epic.
I've tried attaching the .apk, but I keep getting errors...I'll try again later. EDIT: Got it attached.

[Q] What is the best music player for android HD2?

Hi everyone, I would like to know what is the best music player for ANDROID HD2?
The one it comes with is garbage....Any links would be helpful!!! TY ALL
I would recommend Mixzing Media Player. I currently use it on my X10 and feel its the best for music. Lots of options and has a good eq. And I know you didn't ask but Rockplayer for video. Plays it all.
ty i will check it out
I love the default player that comes with all sense builds.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
I have tried almost every good music player there is (Mixzing, bTunes, Player Pro, TuneWiki, and some others I don't remember), yet I've come back to using the stock player. Graphically it's not the most appealing there is, but heck, it does what it has to do without all the unneccessary hassle the others have.

I absolutely hated this whole suggestions thing. It worked so unintuitively yet took a prominent role, and the suggestions weren't very relevant either.
Mspot is great. i like the way you can also play your music from the cloud.
mini player is my fav based on the fact that it looks at a directory that you point it to, rather than seeking for all media on your sd card like the android player does. also has playlist now.
3 or sometimes called cube by phillip abrantes is a cool player it's in the market
i like tunewiki
Music PlayerPro is my pick. Closest to the stock app. Shows album art. Has 4 decent looking skins. Has its own lockscreen with a widget. And best of all you can select the music folder to play from.
Mixzing was ok. Just did a little more than I needed. I just want to listen to my music and not my ringtones if you know what I mean. Keep it simple.
Try Audio Player with EQ Platinum. It has a very good equalizer.

Just wondering if you're talking about the stock sense music player or Mixzing? I've hunted high and low in the stock player and can't find anywhere to tell it where to look.
Horrible yes,ok it is good, but it does not support rewind and forward on my jabra bt 3030....only back skip, and forward skip.....the sense player supports all my jabra functions....

My conclusion on the music quality and volume on the Desire HD

I've had real problems with the volume of music on my HD. Max volume when playing music is fairly low/average. Max should be loud, it should make me want to turn it down.
I've also been very unsure on the quality of the music and what will give the best quality when playing music. Stock player? Stock player with EQ? Stock player with SRS? Stock player with Dolby? PowerAmp? PowerAmp with EQ?
__
I did about an hour of testing using old ipod headphones and my Sennheiser CX870s.
I put the stock music player widget on the same screen as the PowerAmp widget so I could play one song on them both and pause the player on one and start the other to compare music quality and volume between both players with both headphones. I did this over and over with classical, techno and rock music. that
I don't feel like typing an essay but I can confidently conclude that no combination of EQ in either player or SRS etc gives the music on my HD enough volume.
I can also confidently conclude that music does sound better on the stock Desire HD music player with SRS than PowerAmp. No combination of EQ or preamp settings in PowerAmp sounded better than the stock player with SRS. At the same time though, the difference is not that great.
This is of course all my opinion with my ears and my cx870's.
One problem I've had with the cx870's is that they sound way to bassy with stock player SRS and PowerAmp with the EQ, but that is probably headphone related so not relevant to this.
I found that while jacking up the preamp in PowerAmp did help the volume, it also distorted it and somewhat ruined the clarity of the music. Plus the volume output was still not much better than the stock player with SRS.
^^ Interesting thanks very much for that... much appreciated... I still have to work out much needed replacement the the stock player. I was thinking of trying PowerAmp next.
By the way I have seen some volume raise apps or Android volume unlock that are supposed to help maybe a bit on other phone models have you tired or had any luck with any of them on the Desire HD? Definitely something I'm keen to find a fix to as well as it's not really acceptable IME to play a youtube video and have it too quiet for friends to hear ect.
Take care n good luck. Will post back it I find any good news before you do.
I was using Poweramp first but arrived to the same conclusion than Rogueblade. Stock player has a better sound definition than third party players : less distortion etc...
Do you really find it too quiet? I find mine on the brink of too loud when its on max - I generally have it a click or 2 under, and its loud enough to drown out the sound of anyone around me and the sound of the train.
using headphones i find SRS amazing, im using it even in my car even using the headphones jack
just tried an HD2 and desire next to the DHD, seriously people i don't get what the problem is, the DHD has a much clearer sound
i'm on OTA 1.72 by the way
Am I missing something not?!? I cannot see how it's possible to use the stock player as lets say I copy 2 CDs on to the SD card. When I go to access it though the stock player there is not 1 folder with CD1 and another folder with another CD2 there is just a mess of MP3 tracks and folders. Now that is just one double CD from one artist. I would not like to see what happens when I go and transfer a resonable size collection of my MP3s containing mutliple folders of CD's and live sets, each foldered under artist names and music styles.
Someone please explain it to me if I am wrong. Would I be right to say I need to use another player that specifically has a feature of search/display music by folders?
I find the volume on DHD good enough. I use the device for music in the car and always leave it around half way and fully cracked up on the stereo and it's loud enough.
While listening with headphones I find max too loud but the volume preference would differ from person to person. Also I find SRS gives a nice bass boost which is great.

Yes, the stock htc music application sorts music by artist, album, music and then you can also create custom playlists.
Have you tried winamp for android? If it's anything like the pc version it will perfect for what you need.

I switch between Neutron and Poweramp. Neutron has arguably the best audio quality of all the players on the market, but the UI leaves a lot to be desired. Poweramp, while not as good as Neutron in terms of audio quality, provides probably the best balance in terms of sound and UI.
I use PowerAmp, as it has a great interface, lots of features, and varied widget options. Haven't felt a need to switch from it yet.
I using MyPlayer because ir have a different but useful way forma making playlists.

Are you referring to Google Play Music? If so, it is my go to when I want to play one of the 11K songs on my desktop, especially since Audiogalaxy abandoned me again.
As far as an offline player, Nexmusic is my current favorite and believe me, I tried just about them all. It has most or more of the great features that the big boys (e.g., PlayerPro, Poweramp) have and it's free. Although PlayerPro is pretty nice if you don't mind the price.
I've been enjoying the N7player on an S4 Active very much.
Coming from Neutron player on a galaxy S2 and wanted to try something different.
The equalizer isn't the best (Neutron's was very detailed, so I got spoiled), but there are better exclusive apps just for that and the built in has many presets and effects.
Easy to use and browse music
playlist creation comes quicker than most with lots of longpress options
album art is presented well
lock screen interface is a nice treat
simple, minimalistic and dark
So for the people who use poweramp and neutron, how different is the sound quality on both players? I currently use poweramp. Also most of my music is in FLAC. Would I benefit more from neutron?
Nexmusic, it does what i need it to do and it does it very well :good:
Anybody tried Rocket Music Player before? It's awesome, you can attach special presets to each and every song and can also upgrade to a 10-band equalizer from 5 bands. It's UI is also beautiful and customizable thanks to themes. I personally use the Light Blue theme thanks to my exposure from using Apollo

Ive always used Poweramp. Why? It was one of only a couple of players with a built in equalizer when it came out. I paid for it so I just kept using it
Lately though Ive been all about the Google Play Music app. Cant beat having my entire music library there without using up all my phones storage. The interface is actually really really nice and easy to navigate. Built in equalizer is nice too. Its definitely my go to player since they updated the interface. Not to mention the All Access feature now. A little pricet at $8/mo but I'm enjoying the trial I finally activated.
I use Apollo built into CM10.1. Basic, works for me. I absolutely hate Google Music. Even with music on my SD card, and not allowing it to sign in to my account somehow it managed to show up in Data Usage as using 500mb+ of my data plan. Never again. It's disabled now.

I had the same issue with Google music a while back... that is one of the first apps I kill now on my phone. Fool me once and all that...
for local music I actually prefer the stock Samsung player. for streaming its slacker.
I'm just amazed that play STILL can't transition from shuffle to "in order" without having to clear the que. that is the single thing preventing me from using that for everything.
Come on....... Power amp

JetAudio Music Player Plus
JetAudio Music Player Plus (paid version) - 20-band EQ (10-band in Free Version, I think), 32 presets, 4 Customizable presets, Stereo Widening, Reverb, Bass, AGC, Crossfading, Gapless, Balance control, Sleep timer, etc...
I use it along with ViPER4AndroidFX and ViPER4AndroidXHiFi MOD, if you have not tried this, you are missing out. Blows out everything of the water. I've never heard earphones sound so good. Even if you prefer another player, use this FX Mod, you will be amazed at the difference this makes.
EDIT: Just to clarify a bit more. ViPER4AndroidFX/XHiFi is an Audio FX app a bit like Equalizer, Music FX, Beats Audio?, etc... they improve audio effects coming out of the phone - globally, across all apps. It is not a music player.

BEST audio player for ANDROID head units

Greets all!
I've just joined the Android Head Unit community with the installation of the ATOTO A6 (A6Y2721PB).
So far I love it with the exception of a few minor gripes.
The audio player that comes with it has terrible sort functions. OR basically non-existent sort functions. It categorizes (very badly) the music library into a few categories (Singers, Songs, albums, folders) and all poorly and inaccurately. If there was some useful sort functions under FOLDERS; this wouldn't be so bad, but there is not. It will not even sort alphabetically. It will sort by the number of tracks that is in each folder. That is worthless!
So I'm looking for a better player. I really don't care about STREAMING services support. It comes with Spotify and Pandora already and I don't use them. I'm interested in playing my 1000+ track music archive in the FLAC format. BUT I have to have adequate sort functions. Most all of my archive was not CD rips that does the CDDB encoding. I backed up all my original collection into WAV files a decade ago and that is the source. The only think I miss is the album art. The easy way is to have the album art store in each folder entitled folder.jpg. Many players will display that many don't recognize it. Also I need the player to support widgets so I can integrate the player into the home screen.
I've tried Foobar2000 and like the functionality but it is UGLY with only B&W menus and it does not support widgets. I'm going to try VLC but not sure it will handle music files as well as it does video.
Any suggestions out there?

There are many, many Android music players out there.... While opinions may differ based on users' experience, there's really only one that stands out for the use in a HU: PowerAMP . For me it's the player that has everything and is fully integrated in the Android system:
Great Audio ducking
Configurable widgets
Support for folders (and folder.jpg)
If not present, album art download
Has its own audio engine
Support for almost every car launcher
Beautiful album art support
and many more...
It takes some time to configure it the way you want to (don't need the visualizer for instance), but (almost) everything can be adjusted.
But to get the most out of if (that goes for every player), be sure to have your music properly tagged

Well it all depends on your speakers off course and I don't have a DSP. But I can tell you that on the Head Unit I have, the original sound was ok. After using and enabling PowerAmp's own engine and equalizer, sound was far, far better.
However, using Viper4Android (if you're HU is rooted) takes the sound to another level. I didn't even know my stock car speakers could produce such rich basses... I guess having a DSP would give you similar results.
Well gentleman,
I installed PowerAmp and paid the 4 bux for the full version.
Overall I really like it's feature and silky smooth operation. The issue I have is that the sound output level is about HALF of the other audio apps. This is a big problem since I have to turn the volume up much more to hear it's playback. I went under the audio tab and made different changes to the setting trying to get more output from it but no dice.
I'm going to email the developer on the issue. But otherwise this one is a keeper, I really like it's functionality.
BTW, The Atoto A6 does have it's own DSP chip for audio processing.

Yeah, I got on the PowerAmp site and looked through their FAQ page. It recommended turning DVC off if you have volume problems.
I'll try that after work today.
ive been using Power Amp for a while on my android head unit. It is the best of the bunch. The latest update has created issues playing music so until a new stable release was offered, I tried a few others and the rest are just okay. VLC was actually pretty good but I found that most of the players won't pass audio file text to the home screen widget and won't display my album art. So I am back to power amp. the dev has sent me a link to an alpha build that should fix my issue. I have just been too lazy to install it.
I got the widget working and was able to turn off the DVC function. The volume level is back to normal now so I'm really loving PowerAmp. It has features I really don't need or want but at least I can turn them off so they won't cause havoc unlike the other players I tried.
As far as the DVC function it seemed like a good thing but it just cut the sound output way too low. Reading on the PowerAmp site it stated that incompatibility with DVC will cause this. I'm wondering that this means. This unit (Atoto A6) has it's own DSP for audio affects like EQ etc. I'm wondering if that is the issue.
I also have a forward facing camera for the DVR and a backup camera. Plus various part to make all the USB connections accessible to the passenger compartment. I planned to install all that this weekend. Well didn't happen. The washing machine blew up and we ended up in town all day shopping for a replacement. Will get to it soon.
Hi. My problem with poweramp is that when someone calls me my headunit stops playing music and i am answering the call. But 1 second later music starts plwying again and i can not hear the caller and he cant hear me cause of the music...

GMMP is the best pick if you have a large music collection. I have 40k+ tracks on a mechanical HD on my head unit. GMMP will play through them no problem with an initial delay of about 30 seconds for the scan to get going. Poweramp craps itself and hangs for long periods of time (up to 60 minutes) while it scans/updates it's library. And then takes about 20-30 seconds to skip a track.
So my votes:
Small music collection, go for Poweramp.
Large music collection, go for GMMP.
I probably tried more than 20 apps, in the end it was Neutron that gave me the best results, I play only flac and have like 240 GB of them in my car, it works really flawless but you need to take the time to adapt it to your likes since really everything can be configured

I've been using this for about 5 months, it's nice.. only thing bad is, it doesn't like to start in the SD card folder after starting up after being shutoff, so I have to manually browse to the SD card fold every time I start my truck..
It seems as all the dsp features do work.. there's a million things and settings in this paid app, seems to get updated regularly.. I wish it would leave the track list on screen all the time if wanted

Wow;
Not had that issue. What ever is playing it all mutes until the phone call is done on my ATOTO.
There are a ton of setting for everything in Power amp. Look through the settings and see if you can find a mute on call feature.
Have anyone been able to get an ipod to play through any app?

just tried this app, having similar issue. I think for me at least it gets totally confused when I plug in or disconnect another UDB drive. It seems as tho my HU(IDoing) shifts the USB volumes and neutron loses it's library. Otherwise the app seems near perfect.
