Fed up with lack of updates - Huawei Mate 9 Guides, News, & Discussion

I have had a Mate 9 since early January and had about 2 updates. It's on MHA-l29c636b158 with February security updates.
I have an Aussie Telstra SIM and a Singapore SIM in it.
Why are updates (especially security updates) so slow with Huawei? Does anyone know?
Thanks in advance,

MHA-l29C636B172 is official updates.

Just update man there are plenty of guides here on how to manually flash. The software is there. Just gotta flash it.

I tried the firmware finder trick using proxy and pushing update to phone then removing proxy and downloading but getting authentication issues, tried again but this time just before authentication, I changed to data and out off WiFi still authentication problems.
Same for B180 and B181.
I'm on C636B172 BTW

I think C636 is the worst to get updates

Maybe this is the battery update that the Note 4 received right after release?

I just turned on my phone a few minutes ago and saw the update.
Honestly, I wanted to check here on the XDA forum first to see who installed the UPDATE for the phone, because frankly, after the recent Lollipop UPDATE that Google sent out to their Nexus line of devices, and the HUGE DRAMA with system BUGS, I'm leaning toward conservative -- even though I know this isn't a Lollipop O/S update.
UPDATE: I found the link on T-Mobile's website, and they say, "This update provides Chinese language support"
https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-18152
Went ahead and allowed the update to be applied but because I have already rooted it the update wouldn't take.

That's it? Language support? I installed it hoping it was a battery improvement like the note 4 got straight out the box. This sucks if true.

Just a few more days and I will get home to my Edge that is sitting in its box. After setting it up I am going to use your root method.
Saw the update this morning when I got up and this popped up in the googletron. I know it's for the Note 4 but I'm wondering if any of this garbage will happen post update... Anyone have any issues like stated in the article?
http://www.tmonews.com/2014/12/t-mo...e-malware-installing-apps-without-permission/
Please note that I am not rooted yet, had an issue with my accelerometer with my first Edge and I'm giving this a few weeks to see if anything crops up first.
My girl got this is morning. Nothing on my phone but i havent check either. I always wait until i get the info on xda first.
But with it just being language support i doubt i will be looking for it.
But im also willing to bet its a patch for something and they just dont want to say so.

Thats standard update disclosure
It says it can't but is not limited to.
That doesn't mean it does all that.
I remember when phone would get rooted easily via in OS apps and they would patch them a with an update and just say it's for stability

Hi, feel like an idiot having to ask this but I'd rather be an idiot with a working phone than one without. Anyhow when you say update via ODIN, which slot am I putting it in to? Or maybe the better question is where in the CF Rooting process does the zip or rather md5 file get flashed?

That would be step -1 (step negative 1) right before step 0... You will start by flashing via Odin the newest NK3 firmware... Then continue the whole guide. Any questions, just ask.

Why did you wait if your phone is PLK-L01? I installed C432B330 when my phone build was C090B210 and nothings happened. Country is not so important I think. But I do not know if it's harmful or not. Not on me at least

A new official update b370 in same link

Hoory, just got OTA update for L29C636B172 :)

I was on MHA-L29C636B158, and I check for update everyday, but always get nothing. I have a disabled prepaid China Unicom SIM-card in 1 of the SIM slots, left there from my business trip to China last week. I just enabled it and went back to update, and there it is MHA-L29C636B172 update, 447MB size. The Change log is "This update optimizes system performance and stability". The list of Optimizations "Optimize system performance and stability for smoother operations. Optimizes power consumption for longer usage."
It's installed and came back up in a few minutes... didn't notice anything different... I guess I will see in a few days.

For me here in Greece there is no update.. I'm still to B158.. I check every day twice with no luck... I come from Chinese rom debrand to C636 and I don't want to force an update... I want to see it automatically come to my device in my country (Europe) with 2 Greek sim cards.... Let's see...

well, it has been more than a week since I got the 172, I can't really tell any noticeable difference from 158. Except the annoying "audio recording" warning problem with Skype/WhatsApp came back and this time I somehow can't fix it by disabling a whole bunch of Google voice search settings... sad
same to me, in usa, no luck so far...

Got the OTA on C636.

L29C185B172 is rolling out by ota.

Seems they start to roll out 172 update, think other regions will get it too.

Cause i got it through ota that's mean huawei has approved the update,so it should pass through firmware finder.
And someone confirm above if you have noticed
Well, no. One of the 4pda ppl got this OTA (185/172) week ago, while FF was still throwing auth error.

Now it's going thru for all the ppl with c185 yes. But still relation between ota-rollout and ff-signing is not proven.

They roll out a batch first for few handset like a test,if everything ok they roll it for everyone.
My phone is not included in the first batch so when i receive an ota means it's for everyone, that's what usually happen.
That sounds plausible! But still - why i did not get 172 (and any other before that) via ota? Only via ff? Wrong sim? Wrong ip? What?

Imported phone?
Most the problem is the sim card.
Yes, imported. Yes, 'wrong' sim for the region. But one guy still got OTA regardless of the sim he had in ('wrong' one too).

some guy called hw support and received a chilling answer. if you requested your bootloader unlock code - your imei is out of ota base (but not out of warranty until you actually root). that's what he said.

Upgrading from 11.0.4.4.IN11AA to OnePlus8ProOxygen_15.O.13_GLO_013_2004111441 Safe???

Is it safe to upgrade directly from 11.0.4.4.IN11AA to OnePlus8ProOxygen_15.O.13_GLO_013_2004111441 ?
OTA didn't work. I didn't have time to keep up with this crap. I'm about ready to change brands again because one plus just failed and moved on the the nine. So, I'm stuck with a phone that cannot download updates and now I have to sit around and figure out how to make my phone work. Can I just update this or do I need to follow some crazy method? I can't find any clear answers. Thank you
