I wont agree. If you see AOSPA are the first custom rom which adds not only new features but improves core stuff as well. The camera and new post processing algorithm for example is better than OOS which is a huge step also the color engine though in its infancy is very good and is building on top of OOS theme engine. They have also fixed the voice call drain using custom firmware. So there are things they have done right and improved stuff. So I guess AOSPA has started right. If they can just continue making solid improvements its would be a fantastic idea.

OOS color theme is just enough for me,
Voice call is fixed in today's beta 8,
Dunno about camera we need more proof and test...
Anyway,i was a big fun of AOSPA in the past so let's wait and see, maybe i'll give it a try when OnePlus drop support for the 3T(if they don't drop the support and die again)

Improved camera quality is a big boast. I don't think they'd do it if they couldn't back it up. It's been sitting on my internal storage waiting to be flashed. I think I'm going to back up tonight and flash my first custom rom tomorrow. That's really and truly a testament to OxygenOS as well as Paranoid Android.

Is it true that Android O would have native substratum theme enabled, thereby negating the need for rooting the phone? Can someone confirm?

Yes let's hope so. My intentions was to know whether this would be available on stock rom's or just custom rom's. I think Oxygen OS is above par as compared to the best smartphones out there when it comes to stock rom so this would be a stellar addition as and when it happens, or lets say if it happens.

Yeah exactly. OOS is near stock. Moto g3 is running MM but we're still waiting :/ and should probably wait till the last day of the Q1. Or probably they'll miss even that date and come up with an apology letter like they always do :/

I am pretty sure drivers are written usually by the hardware makers, so that'd be Qualcomm for the SoC or whoever made the fingerprint sensor, camera, other sensors etc. Skins - I ain't seen much skinning by OPO except for changing the dark mode and colour of stuff when in dark mode. Security - this is why they need to release latest android, because google is fixing 100's of issues.
Anyway I am shocked that even the slow manufacturers like LG have upped their game and have 6.0 and Samsung has leaked theirs too. I usually wouldn't care but custom ROMs not that attractive without Fingerprint sensor and Laser AF.

Paranoid Android for Pixel C

EDIT: Looks like the official builds are on their server now, and can be found here http://get.aospa.co/official/dragon.
Just wanted to give anyone who's interested a heads up. Looks like the pixel c will be officially supported by PA, they currently have a test build out.
https://plus.google.com/+YamilGhazi/posts/J96qSfq3RBB
After being unable to get GMD gesture control working on the N preview, I decided to give it a try. So far working great, no issues that i've come across so far. I used OpenGapps nano and supersu 2.7.4. If you do give it a try, you should probably post some feedback in that linked post for the dev.
Great !
Thanks for the info !

No, it comes unrooted. Also, as a precaution to make sure it doesn't accidently try to force encrypt the tablet, as I think a lot of their builds do.

My biggest reason for not using N right now is GMD gesture controls doesn't work for it, and not sure I want a tablet without gesture control.
Well PA for our Pixel C is very close to stock now... I prefer DU since day 1 - ok, I wish I had some transparency settings like on Temasek but maybe my dreams get real For me not a big deal to switch from DU

Oreo 8.0 Custom ROM's popping up everywhere

As I scroll through everyday threads here on XDA I keep getting amazed how fast the developers are building Shamu ROM's with Google's latest and greatest Oreo 8.0.
So far I have used only SiXROM, versions 1.1 and 1.2 and it has been very good, especially the 1.2 version, which now looks more polished. Force closes are almost entirely gone now (it random rebooted just once, don't know why), and to my knowledge with only the NFC not working at all.
I've seen also (and getting very good reviews by users) that there are a couple of more Oreo ROM's like crDroid (version Beta 2 - 18-Sep-17) and Republic of Madness ROM Oreo (21-Sep-17) with a lot more coming, like PureNexus (I guess), LOS and Dirty Unicorns. And although we are still at early stages, these builds are almost ready to be used day-to-day.
Anyway, just wanted to know from you if you had a chance to use any of these Oreo ROM's for the N6 and what you think of them thus far.
Cheers and keep on flashing.

I don’t like these kind of polls because then we’re trying to favor one rom over another. We shouldn’t judge a rom based on feedback, because every rom is different. It’s like everyone will have a different opinion.
But anyways, I’m waiting for a stable build, I know these devs are doing good work but patience is a virtue.

Using Nexus 5x since my Nexue 6 is cracked. I can say that although Nexus 5x is officially supported and "more stable" Shamu runs Oreo like a champ and is actually faster. My Nexue 5x is constantly freezing up. Can't wait until my girlfriend's iPhone gets returned so I can enjoy Pixel XL.

What About GApps?
So far I've only tried S.i.X's first Oreo build, it was looking pretty good then and it's likely gotten jmuch better. Not only waiting for more stable build, but I want GApps, I use OpenGApps. My shamu is my daily driver, I travel a lot, and I use it a lot so it's gotta be stable. Though I usually keep a copy of a good stable release build at all times in case I run into trouble and need to get things working fast. Most of my favorite devs are building Oreo for shamu so I'm sure there'll be some cool stuff happening in the next month or two. I can wait. I think Carbon ROM is building Oreo too and I'm also curious to see what OctOS might do.

ParanoidAndroid vs PureFusion for OnePlus 3T???

PureFusion by @INT3NSE07 and team
Please discuss and help users to understand the better ROM for their devices and I think it will be more beneficial to understand how these roms are better than stock OOS too.

Nope, and actually none yet...
but you can share your views as said in the OP like
-camera quality(low light)
-network stability
-CAF based or ...? whats the advantages etc.. whatever you know and feel like sharing it here...
-RAMconsumption
-Charging stability
-System fluidity/stability "after long time"...
-substratum support
-call/music quality
-idle battery drain

Ok, so Dirty Unicorns is a AOSP/CAF based rom has all the features that you would expect from a custom rom. Every thing works solid.
But the most distinguishing thing for me is this rom supports fully working OOS camera. Yes, fully working which i have never come across in any other roms so far.
You can download the final nougat build from here as the developer has already started work on Oreo. I'm sure you wont be disappointed. Many people dont know about the rom because they dont have a xda thread.
You already have it narrowed down to 2 ROMs. Just flash them both, try them for yourself, and see which you like better. In the hours you waited for responses to this thread, you could have already done this, and made the decision on your own.
It's pointless asking strangers (who have different preferences and usage patterns) which is better. In the end, what you think is "best" probably has little orno bearing on what others think/prefer.

Yea, I have already joined that group and even enjoying it
but I think I opened this thread with other intention and "I think" people are not getting my point
my point here is this
say when you compare stock android(AOSP) vs say MIUI (heavily modified AOSP with bloatwares)
so most of people know this and will choose AOSP for good performance
NOW, PF vs PA both are AOSP/CAF based roms, so what "you guys" think(or have experienced or I missed) what are the main points which anyone of these ROMs have over each other?
As a long standing paranoid user I can just recommend this ROM again and again. Everything works, you basically never encounter a bug and you are not swamped with useless features. The battery life hasn't let me down so far and paielred with the modded gcam you can get photos comparable to stock oxygenOS (maybe even better)
#StayParanoid
I would suggest AOSPA Extended over PA
If you want that everything(i mean everything) is working and no fc:s, go Paranoid. I get almost stocklike feeling using it. Customisations are minimal. My stream provider app is not working on custom roms and that is deal breaker for me most of the times.
OT. OOS is light and good stock. You almost dont want to flash custom roms. Novadays i prefere stable beyond customisations. (too old?)
PS. I dont have any experience of AOSPA Extended

I'd disagree as AOSPA Extended isn't what PA is all about. PA is all about refinement to the last little detail. If you have PA and tell someone that this is the stock system, nobody would think otherwise (except us people who know XDA)
That's the beauty of it. You don't have many features, but the ones you have make perfect sense and are implemented so seamlessly, that you could miss it for a stock Android feature.

You can download the final nougat build from here as the developer has already started work on Oreo. I'm sure you wont be disappointed. Many people dont know about the rom because they dont have a xda thread.

DT2W can be enabled using kernel adiutor. And for gcam, flash hal3 enabler from vertex os thread
Sent from my OnePlus 3T using XDA Labs

Only AOSP/PIXEL Pie ROM development?

I really prefer having less customization because the result in bad translation and bugs, is there any rom coming soon that will be completely stock android?
use GZOSP it's pure AOSP

I tried previous build of this and haven't found any rom downloading this now.
I've actually found the last Arrow Oreo rom to be surprisingly stable and stock-like. It's what I imagine the device COULD have been like stock. I also dont like roms that veer too far from stock and this is what I've settled on.
Still can't beat stock battery life though. None of the customs can. Now that Oreo is out and the kernel has been made open source, I was really hoping we'd see something come out that was closer to the performance of stock, but it last I checked most efforts were on experimental Pie development rather than perfecting what we have.

Yeah, i like that one but i found some bugs and it has quite a lot of features that i don't really need
I would like a completely AOSP ROM with the sqiared QS/dialogs but guess we won't see one since there is no AOSP maintainrr for our device
Curious, what bugs did you find?
Mine has been been Rock solid, only issue I've had is the nav buttons don't rotate with the screen when in landscape. But I can live with that. Other features are that I didn't want (like tap to wake) you can disable. It feels stock to me, I can't imagine anything more basic than this that wouldn't be leaving something out.
