P10 Plus battery life concern - Huawei P10 Plus Questions & Answers

Hi everyone.
I'm interested in buying the p10 plus. The only problem is that i am worried about the battery life. I have heard negative things about the battery life. Currently i am using s7 edge which gets good battery life. I average about 6 hours screen on time with my s7 edge. What i have read online mostly states the p10 plus averaging around 4 hours screen on time. If anyone is coming from the s7 edge please compare the battery life and for those who aren't can you tell me what you average on screen on time.
Thank you from now

Dunno I used a Z3C and a Note 4. The P10 Plus performs really well, and you should never forget the ultra-super-fast charging which trumps Samsung in every way. tl;dr: I would not be worried. It also uses no PWM (no flicker like Samsung), and it's an LCD, so no burn-in like AMOLED. Best of all worlds.

It's too early to say something as I have it for few days yet, but battery seems good so far. During one heavy usage day I got 4h15min screen on time, but used navigation quite a lot. At least it compares to my Nexus 6p back in the good days. Hope to get it back from RMA soon But overall P10 Plus made an impression to me.

If you guys post screen on times it would be highly appreciated

5-6 hours DOT are very well possible.

Yes 5-6 hours sot, with 1 hour gaming and 1 hour browsing, some YouTube, Facebook, WhatsApp.

Almost 5 hours DOT and still 37% battery left, after mostly browsing, watching YouTube and some TV shows

I don't think it will be a great deal. Maybe hardware faulty

Been waiting 6 weeks already for these promised updates. Being on b110 is probably why my battery just drains away during standby.

Battery drains very quickly

Hi all
I noticed that the battery runs out quickly.
It holds only 12 hours in normal use.
While I was at 48 hours with my Huawei mate 8
Is there a solution to this problem?
I have attached the phone version if it can help.
Wait bro, your firmware version is outdated, latest Lollipop firmware is 2.20.40.184, but yours is still running 2.20.40.90, update your firmware first then compare your battery stats from your previous firmware version.
How long is your SoT(Screen on Time)? Well, on a daily usage my Zenfone 2 lasts for up to 6hrs SoT(with wifi browsing, some gaming, 2g/3g texting including standby for almost 12hrs as well) so i think your experiencing average for this kind of handset.
Also note that you've posted on a wrong section, this thread should be posted on the "Q&A, Help, Troubleshooting section".
This phone generally has **** battery life for majority of people, there are every few people who see any decent battery life (like above). There are no solutions for good battery life for this phone.

I wouldn't recommend somebody (even less a new XDA user) to flash a beta firmware. Only the user itself should decide if he /she really wants to try beta software.

Comparing this phone's battery to a Huawei battery is like comparing a Prius to a Tesla. I can go 3 days on my Huawei Ascend Mate 2 but it's a 4000mAh battery and a Snapdragon chip compared to a 3000mAh battery and an Intel chip. The ZF2 battery will never get better unfortunately
I was getting some serious battery drainage on stock rom - I upgraded to the CM13 ROM with Android 6.0.1 - Set it on Root and installed Greenify + Xposed Framework - Smart Booster - Battery Doctor - Configured them all and keep my brightness on low when in doors and automatic when outside. My battery seems to be holding much better now. I haven't used that Stock rom Beta release of 6.0.1 yet so I'm not sure if that'll help. Good luck!
P.S - I only installed the mini version of GApps.

Check for the running apps and disable those that are not of use to you.. There are apps that run in the background, just run those that you think you will be using always.

Disable touch gestures, the ones that let's you double tap to wake it up, I disabled mine and during the night, with wifi on, it only used 1% battery.
Also, disabling LED notifications would help.
To replace the double tap to lock screen I use Greenify's widget, need to find a way to let me wake it up by volume buttons too.
Any other battery saving tips would be great.

But still, that's very good. I probably won't get this low because I have crappy reception at home, but I'll check it anyway.
zenfone 2 is best for performance lag free most of the time .....but battery life sucks.... and about that ferrari and prius thing... my friends sony xperia z series especialy z ultra has awesome battery life it is also quad core processor phone ...it is also a beast phone ...but there stamina mode saves a lot of battery ... 8 to 10 hr SOT is normal for z ultra..... so clearly power managment is very poor for zenfone 2. i am using marshmellow cm 13 .. greenify... .. overnight drop is 3 to 4 %... but as soon as i start using it battery starts to drain quickly..... i have searched whole xda forum.. but everybody is talking about wakelocks, thats fine but during actual use also it is consuming a lot of battery....i am tired of searching

Stable Firmware with less battery drain

Hello,
Please help , I 'm new in this forum .
My English is not good and therefore it is for me very laboriously to search the points all the posts .
I bought a new Yotaphone . 2
It is installed following firmware: the build number is : KTU84L.4.4.3 - S01-003 - VIT.0.3.50a
There is no automatic firmware update .
Yotaphone informed me that this is a Vodafone firmware and therefore there is no update .
I want to use the Yotaphone to 90 % of GPS navigation with the E - Ink display on my mountain bike .
Therefore is important for me, that is the ROM stable and has little battery drain .
What Firmware version can you recommend me .
I live in Germany and the menu language should be in German .
I have read that is to be flashing with the tool YotaPhoneFlasher .
Where there is a detailed guide , so that nothing 's wrong when flashing and the unit is then scrap .
(wrote with Google Translate)
Thanks
Dieter
There is no one to help me?
Can you go into settings then tap about phone and tell me what android version you are running? Are you running android 4.4.3?
A lot of people have said that KitKat (android version 4.4.3) is better then other firmwares for battery life. So if your running 4.4.3 then stay there for now.
I haven't used KitKat on yotaphone (android version 4.4.3) but I can tell you don't update to lollipop (android version 5.0) if you need good battery life.
Use RU ROM they are updating very frequently.
Battery life on Marshmallow Beta seems quite good to me, so that's something to try

I just upgraded to RU 1.31. How much SOT do you get? And, whats the idle drain per hour I can expect?
Is it better or worser than 4.4.3?

2.5 hours with 60% Battery Left - That is very good.
I upgraded only today early morning with literally no extra applications installed except WhatsApp. In fact, with Titanium Backup, I uninstalled few Google and Yota Apps which I never use. Waiting to evaluate the battery life in few days.
Hi there,
EPD + GPS for sunlight-navigation sounds like a good idea with the yotaphone 2. Especially in direct sunlight.
I had great experiences with that phone regarding battery life using EPD only.
BUT you should keep in mind that yotaphone has a rather small battery (2500mAh) compared to similar phones on the market at the moment.
GPS navigation uses alot of power for GPS itself and CPU power for navigation. So a normal screen would only cause 30-40% on normal displays with full brightness in summary.
If you compare pure battery power with other cheap phones like xiaomi redmi 4 pro/prime (4200mAh) and a decent LCD IPS this could also work out for you + better bad light/night time usability.
€dit: would still go with the yotaphone since it has a galaxy S5 grade AMOLED display

Finally google assistant arrived with stock official firmware N910TUVS2EQB1.

I just noticed that with the new update N910TUVS2EQB1 Google assistant came by default .
My device is not rooted i just updated google app from playstore and it worked.
So happy to see our note 4 still getting new stuff.

More AI features are built in EMUI 5.0 and 5.1 than I thought

From the official Chinese forum, I found this announcement and this one. More features have been built-in the OS with the AI capability. They are good for phone signal enhancement, momery optimization, performance and such. You can transfer to your language to read them...

LOL! I have been using 5.0 since more than a month now and no "optimisation" has made the battery last as long as on 4.0. Tried controlling wakelocks, alarms etc but all the same.

Sorry, I was not intentional to say that but hoping you got the EMUI 5 sooner than later in the old days. Then when you got it, I saw you switched back to EMUI 4.1 the same day you got EMUI 5. In my case, it took about a week for the phone to learn my use pattern and reduce the battery drain to almost 0% during afternoons and nights when I was not using it intensively. Yeah, keep an eye on the other aspects of features you want from the EMUI system. Have a good day!

A couple of things you may be able to try is to turn off the body sensor permission to Google and to use cellphone network and wifi network to locate your position instead of using GPS signal. The optimization by EMUI really depends on your use pattern in my opinion. If you will need to use the phone a lot, it won't optimize your battery performance noticeably. If you read more on other brand forums where pure Android 7 has been used, you may find people complain about the battery life a lot compared to the Android 6 version. This is just how Android 7 costs.
First of all i never went back to emui 4.1 the same day i got update. Secondly, i never got the emui 5 sooner that everyone else. I just used firmware finder to get my emui 5 update. Thirdly, there was something wrong with the battery so i got a replacement of that phone. Here in emui 5 apps don't go to sleep at screen off they keep waking up. I was talking about battery management to manage some apps aggressively which wake up too much background tasks even when not in use.
So that's the battery management i was talking about Hope you get it.

Have you tried to check the setting options for turning apps off while in sleep mode? I am not sure what the problem is in your case. I don't have many apps waking my phone up on EMUI 5 after some tedious re-enforced training with the phone on what to do using the phone manager app. Maybe you have to turn them off manually if you don't need them initially; otherwise, the phone would think you are ok to let them on. This approach should work for general machine learning algorithms if I am correct. Good luck on that anyways. I am looking forward to seeing more AI features to come as demonstrated in the Magic UI.

Battery life seems better after I flashed Nathan's 3.0 kernel!
My battery life is quite a bit worse. Nothing has changed in my use of apps. On 8.1 July I would have just under 50% battery remaining. I use a slow charge dock at night next to my bed with Sleep as Android running, and back to 100% in the morning.
Now on 9.0 I am at less that 30% end of day, with the slow charge dock sometimes it just maintains charge, but often it decreases. This morning I was at 12% with 24% showing last night at bedtime.
When I plug into the dock, I check that charging shows on the lock screen and led light. I manually turn of always on display and enable immersive display with tiles in the pull down menu to insure the screen being blacked out at night, even though Sleep as Android runs.

My Battery life has gone for worse after installing P all fresh.. Battery life was good when i was on beta, once i moved to Final release of P and wiped everything for fresh start.. battery life been worse.. need to charge battery every 8-9 hours.. usage is same as i had earlier . I have even uninstalled many apps which were present on 8.1 and P beta...
Pretty disappointing.. Not sure if its only mine Pixel 2 XL.

Battery is def worse for me. I did OTA at first and then clean install. Same result. My battery life is better in 8.1 with always in display vs 9.0 WITHOUT always in display. Idle drain is worse also on 9.0 for me. I downgraded back to 8.1
Battery life for me has been better overall as well. Not a dramatic increase, as it was already pretty good on O, but it is noticeable.
Battery is not good for me on 9.0 why are some getting good and others not? Same hardware and software?

Hardware yes, software no, we all use different apps.
I'm trying to track it down, but the Battery section is showing nothing. I just installed BBS and granted the adb permissions hoping that will show me something.
And even if two people have the exact same apps installed, everybody has different usage of each app.

How are you getting this kind of battery. I used to get that on my galaxy S8+ but can't get 8 hrs sot on my pixel 2xl. I usually get maybe 7 max. Any tips?
Im not seeing any difference with the new feature adaptive battery, its neither worse or better
So in other words... Some ppl the worse than before, some better than, and others are getting about the same, all to varying degrees... That's nuts for real...
