[Discussion] Favorite feature about the U11? - HTC U11 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello all
This is a discussion about your favorite feature on the U11?
Is it the waterproofing? New Camera? 64 gig Internal Memory?
Let's discuss about it!

My favorite feature about the phone has to be the new camera, it looks like HTC finally got it together in that department. Hands down a great camera.

Edge Sense for me...so many ways for it to be handy & the potential it has...
camera a close 2nd, followed by waterproofing

1. Edge sense possibilities - to speed up camera access
2. Ip6 rating
3. Camera
4. MicroSD

1. Killer built-in speakers
2. Camera
3. Edge Sense

Camera, audio, ip67, in that order I think... overall quite excited for this handset to be delivered. Quite possible edge sense could totally impress me as well.
It appears they are bringing all the things I have enjoyed from so many phones lately into one package with the brand I prefer.

1. Edge Sense
2. IP67
3. Camera
4. USonic Active Noise Cancellation

If I can get edge sense to play music, that'll be great

Speed and display.

1. audio
2.camera
3.edge sense

Software optimization. While not a real "feature," it is certainly is valued after using other phones that aren't properly optimized, and pdnt compare in real-life fluidity of usage.

Love it..
1. Screen & Performance
2. Camera
3. It's an HTC!

So far I'd say the audio quality .

For me it's audio and battery life so far.

1.Camera
2.Edge Sense
3.Audio

I think edge sense has real potential at one handed photo taking after playing with it a bit.
Then again I'm not sure if it's any better than using the volume button for the same thing. I guess right handed users would prefer edge sense

just arrived ...
LCD5 is incredible amazing, snapdragon 835 rulez!
I squeeze the HTC U11 as much as I can :laugh::laugh: soo cool!
I've always wanted.
My favorite features:
1. Audio
2. Camera
3. Edge Sense
4. Speed of 835

seeing that you rate capturing photos 5 stars... my n3 camera sucks big time. i'm comparing my experience with iphone 4s which i used for 2years, can't speak for xperia. n3 camera is worse in terms of speed and capturing clear and sharp photos in most situations. that's very disappointing considering 4s was 2 years old. sure n3 has impressive specs (4k video no less) but all the specs are useless if it cannot take beautiful photos in most "normal" situations. normal as in day to day casual photos where you don't have to freeze in order to take decent photos.
Well here's my experience with the note 3 and the reason it is the better choice:
1. I think both are equal in the social side cause I don't think anything would change, well maybe that doing Snapchats with the s pen is a lot better hahaha.
2. I don't know about the user above but the quality of my photos is quite superior to everything I've seen our there by FAR, crisp, clear and perfect for me (my previous phones have been the GSIII, GSII, iPhone 4, and other older android phones and this camera is the best). The comparison in GSMArena proves that the Note 3 is better than the Z1 even with the Z1 being 20.1MP.
3. Galaxy note has almost perfect audio output through the jack but I have to admit the speaker sounds loud but kinda weak.
4. More screen real state makes it more suitable for gaming and but have the same processor so the advantage goes to the Note's screen.
5. Same as before, more real state equals better browsing the web.
And we'll the size at starts feels huge, HUGE but after a week my perception sees it as the perfect size as it fits in all my jeans and bags and the screen is marvelous, crisp and bright. Also I've heard that the Z1 although feels more premium it is harder to hold even if it is smaller

2. Sony a has a dedicated camera button, water proof up to 5 feet of water, better sensor, It takes better than the note 3 and will get better with firmware update. You should check out phone arena camera phone shootout. The z1 is second to the Nokia 1020.

I believe more in GSMArena as it has proven to not be so biased as PhoneArena and the note 3 got in second place and you can see all the picture comparisons to see it's truly better

The much better viewing angles/sunlight visibility deterred me from the Sony. That's one thing Samsung does well.

Gsm arena indeed rate the z1 behind the note 3 initially, but the recent z1 update has shown the potent z1 hardware capabilities starting to shine.

i agree with you in browsing gaming cause note 3 got bigger screen size , but in Music i think Xperia Z1 is better you can check the music player of sony it's so cool and the speakers are so clear , in Camera they aren't same check this website (dxomark) sorry can't post a link cause i'm new here , also you can take the best night shots by Xperia Z1 Camera
I don't believe in any of these websites GSMArena , Cnet , etc.... , cause they don't give the Sony devices what they are really worth i think Samsung giving some money to these websites lol
i think i'm going for Xperia Z1 and i wish Sony UI gets update to new Android KitKat SOON !
thank you for replaying
if you view the ph in outdoors often...nothing comes close to note3...the screen is just unbelievable..

Hi
TBH, The Camera on the Note 3 is not the Best. It is OK. It does it's job. But compare it to the iPhone or the Sony Xperia, there is a difference. I did hear a lot of the time that there is a preference difference. (Some likes the N3, Others the Sony/iPhones).
Personally, I use my DSLR for some memorable shots and other artsy shots, but in those moments or other situations where it is awkward to bring out my large DSLR camera I would use my Phone camera.
Everywhere else, N3 excels.
In a real time user experience I can tell you that the battery life will not disappoint you. (2 days of batt life with little effort, but a whole day of usage is the norm)
The phone (Personally) does not heat up unless I game in 3D
Gaming is certainly a blast
The screen is very crisp and clear / colorful
USB 3.0 does show improvement under normal 3.0 operations
The specs live up to its name in real time usage.
But if Photo is a highly regarded feature, I would look at the LG G2 or the Sony Xperia or the Nokia 1020
All phones have their ups and downs :victory:
I find my Note 3 very confortable for any use

let me tell you something i live in Turkey and there's alot of beautiful views here so i'm gonna use camera all time i know it's a phone not a camera but Xperia Z1 Cam takes a beautiful shoots especially in night that's a point
if you gonna tell me about the battery well Xperia Z1 battery is better i know it's less than Note 3 battery but if u have alook in the display ( bigger screen , Super AM-OLED ) that's all take alot from the Battery even if it's 3200 , also Xperia Z1 have a mode which apply you to use the phone for more than 7 days so i guess Xperia Z1 wins
both screens are great also i don't use USB 3.0 i Prefer WiFi Connections so it won't be useful for me but it's a Great improvement
at the end both devices have a great performance and great touches so i guess it's going to the buyer opinion
Thank you for this beautiful replaying

Keep my htc m8 or buy Note 4?

hi guys, i am a happy owner of a htc one m8, the device is the fastest i've used and UI is a lot smooth. i also loved note 4 when i played with it in a samsung store. But i have some concerns about this device.
1-how is the UI performance in day to day use? in my m8 the UI is fast, no lag at all, but i know TW is heavy and i am a bit worried. mainly because i saw this video from flossy carter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdYuj2NSZZ0#t=851 . in 14:11 the device completely crash.
2-here in Brazil i just have the option to buy exynos version SM-N910C. is not clear anywhere what is dac it is using and if camera sensor is sony or samsung isocell, and which one is better.
3-how loud do you guys can record video without distortion? my other previous devices everytime i am with a place with high volume sound the audio distorts with bass, but with my m8 is clear, also iphones and some lumias don't have this problem. does note 4 have this problem?
4-how speaker audio compares to htc m8?
5- how is the battery life? it can reach 8 hours of screen on time with continuous usage?
6-how is the outdoor visibility?
is a lot of questions because i like my m8, and don't want to regret if i buy note 4. thanks.

I was an M8 user for quite some time before getting Note 4 and I'm pretty sure I can answer all of your questions:
1. M8's peformance is definitely smoother than N4's. Not that you'll notice daily lag or something, but TouchWiz is just so much heavier than Sense that the hiccups always come out in different parts of the UI.
2. I own an N910C as well and I am pretty sure it use Samsung's ISOCELL camera. Is it better than the Sony one found in Exynos? No idea. As far as the camera quality goes compared to M8, it's pretty much the same: selfies and normals are amazing and they look even better on the amazing QHD display, but M8's HDR and low light performance beats N4.
3. Never really had any problems with audio distortion on videos but I'm pretty sure with the additional microphones Samsung has put in, it should be a pleasant experience.
4. Nobody can beat M8's boom speakers at the moment in the market. N4's speaker is obviously nowhere better than stereo speakers of M8, but it's not too bad either.
5. 8 hours of screen on ? Whoaaa, dream on! Every N4 user has difference battery performance from what I saw on the forums, but I can assure you around 3-4 hrs of SoT. Fast Charging kinda makes up for that.
6. Since N4 has an AMOLED display, it always struggles in daylight visibility. However it is better than any other AMOLED display before and while it might not be better than M8's, it's still not gonna cause you a lot of problems in direct sunlight.

Hello
I went from the M8 to the Note 4, and while I don't regret my decision, the M8 in its own right is an amazing device and does trump the Note 4 in a few areas. My advice to you is stick with what you have, it's already a great device and you could swap it with an S6 or M9 down the line.
M8 would be smoother with the UI. I have a note 4, it's brilliant. It's really just an all-rounder. But ultimately what made me choose it over getting an M8 was my need for the s-pen. I'm a digital artist, and I use sketchbook pro on my note 10.1, and using dropsync I can now sync my projects between both devices... I'm super happy with this. Again, I would have probably bought the M8, or Z3 cause of the smoother UI if I didn't need the stylus. Enjoy your phone sir, it's one of the best out there

Moving from M8 to Note 4, good idea?

Hello!
As I am deeply deceived by the M9 (reviews) and I want a crisp and bright screen as well as the best camera, I think of taking a Note 4 or Edge.
Though I still need some clarifications:
-The reviews are saying the Note 4 can reach about 750nits with automatic mode, so is it better than M8 under direct sunlight?
-There a total confusion about the Exynos version, does it have a Sony or Isocell camera?
-How good is the audio quality over wired and BT earphones?
-Anyone tried to use S6 theme installer on Note 4?

1) Yes, you will be able to see your Note 4's screen under direct sunlight clearly. It's way better than the M8's screen
2) Exynos version comes with Samsung's own ISOCELL camera.
3) From my experience, there were absolutely no delays using BT earphones. I personally didn't use wired earphones during calls because it will blow your ears up. It's sooo loud and it is a pain to adjust it to the right volume. Overall, fantastic and crystal clear. It's so clear that my friend was able to hear my footsteps.
4) I did not try this.

I couldn't find a review of Exynos Isocell camera Note 4, ae you sure it's not Sony?
I understood the mention of Isocell was a bug in previous software on Note 4, after a certain update the Note 4 Exynos was giving Sony name
no i dont think so
audio quality is far best in m8
i hate the note 4 in earphone audio quality with my solo hd beats it was fantastic with one max
and the m8 boom speaker is fantastic i hope you talk m9

1. Note 4 screen is not as bright or as readable as the M8 and I have both. In direct sunlight note 4 is hard to read auto or not.
2. Mine is Sony. Pictures come out great good or low light.
3. Audio quality and volume is average over wired and BT. Well below that of M8.
4. No sorry.

Not a direct comparison with M8 but this video shows how bright the screen in under sunlight compared to iphone 6

Need some advice ASAP. S7 or Axon 7

I'm looking at both these phones right now...but the store I'm looking at only has 2 S7s left in stock
There's a $40 cad difference in cost between the two
My #1 priority on a phone is headphone audio quality. #2 is camera quality
This is why I'm struggling so much between the two phones.
The Axon 7 does come with a case/screen protector and pair of Monster npulse headphones as well, which is a nice bonus over the s7 which is just the phone
Which would you get?
Also, I've been reading alot of negativity towards the Axon 7's low light performance. Has anyone tried using manual mode in low light to see if this is still an issue? Based on the images I've seen, it appears to be software using too high of an ISO setting causing much of the problems.
I just got my axon yesterday and camera is average to disappointing. Software is kinda glitchy at times but lighter than TouchWiz though TW has improved. The 640 DPI on axon is maddening and can't really be changed without affecting some apps if that is a concern but move Nova launcher does help to some extent. Battery is average though not stellar. . You can unlock bootloader on axon but it voids warranty if you care about that.
Speakers and screen are very very good.
If you are looking to save money the axon may suffice

How would you say the audio quality through headphones compares to the S7/Note 7?
I know the speakers on the device are vastly superior...but what about headphones?
May be slightly better but I am not one for these processed artificial dolby layers. I found the edge to be quite decent as well as Note 7 if you fiddle with equalizer and it depends on quality of headphones or earbuds. That is more subjective.

I am selling my Axon for an S7 Edge. I will miss the awesome speakers but feel pretty much everything else is better on the Edge. Camera, screen, battery life, polished UI, etc. But man will i miss the speakers, the little speaker on the edge sounds horrible.
I hear you, no pun intended but any serious listening I use headphones or earbuds. The Edge and Note speaker is good enough for me for phone calls, etc. Would have been nice if they had stereo but everything else is improved over the axon but heck, can't beat that price for what the axon does.

1.- Speakers the Axon 7 is a beast and with headphones is 2xbeast :silly:, really love the sound from this device.
2.- Camera fails in Low Light ,not like is terrible to no good, but is the only downside I see so far compare to others. But is mostly software and as far as I know ZTE is working for fix, other than that takes good picture
Note : using Manual mode can make things a lot better, most of the reviews uses Auto Mode so FYI.
3.- the skin in the Axon 7 is close to stock + some OEM tweaks here and there, I use Nova prime for my needs and I really have no complains.
4.- having captive nag. Buttons is a big plus,
5.- The design and feels is super b, like it better than G5 or S7 Edge.
---------
The only area s7 family wins is in waterproof other than that Axon 7 is a pretty nice device , but is just my opinion.

Good question haven't actually compare my G4 to my A7...but what I can tell you using Auto-Mode in both devices, the A7 is better with good lighting conditions (AutoMode) and the G4 is slightly better in Low Light LG have betterxmore polish camera software (AutoMode) , things change a bit more when use Manual more.
Just considering lg is a actual Camera manufacture and have way more experience with camera software.
A lot A7 issues are software related and theoretical could be fixed by software patch. That being said ...if you don't care about rooting I would go with galaxy. Touchwiz has gotten a lot better. Only sacrifice is speakers are better on A7 if you care about that. GS7 has terrible speaker.
Either one is a good choice but headphones will sound close same (very margin better on A7) and camera Iis way better on gs7. Battery life maybe better on g7 till custom ROMs are built for a7.
G7 is better for what you want IMO
And if you are a VZW subscriber, I really doubt the axon will get whitelisted for it to work correctly and fully.

I'm with Rogers in Canada.
Here's a total breakdown of what I'm looking at
Open Box Sprint S7s are going for $621.49 after tax. Adding in $30 for a case and screen protector I'd be looking $650 all in
The Axon 7 comes to a total of $598.97 all in and includes a pair of Monster NPulse headphones with the order.(don't care about the headphones...but I could sell them for ~$100 or just gift them)

At those price points, S7 (edge???) is really a much better option. Sound can be EQd and Camera runs laps around this one, i am not as optimistic in ZTE getting it much more better. Manual mode is nice but it takes dialing in. If we ever get full API2 then a proper camera app maybe can do better. The waterproofing is also nice thing to have, it expands usage of the phone. For $50 diff it's a no brainier and it even has root-ability for now i think, so you can run customize it to extent with xposed. The only drawback would be if you are not into all that glass.
if they dont fix this camera im out. better take best camera from market than stereo speakers.
Had s7e exynos and hated it. Couldn't stand glass body soap shape, easily dirty, full of fingerprints (i do like metal unibody phones). Also TW is nasty, audio thru headphones really dissapointing (there is also a thread in s7e section). Only camera was impressive, i mean incredible fast auto focus. Besides photos look amazing at phone, but when i watched them on tv or PC they were over sharpened, too agressive post produced. I felt relief selling this overpriced shiny piece of crap.
Don't forget screen gonna piss you off cause of accidental touches of this nonsense edges.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I found someone selling an S7 locally today for too good of a deal to pass up, so it made my decision easy
S7 is a better phone, no question about it. I have s7 active for work.

Thinking about buying

My v10 is almost dead and thinking about buying this on the cheap. Couple of questions for current owners:
1. Is the camera really that terrible?
2. How is the dev support for this phone? Dev section looks 100x better than V10's lol
3. Another choice is Axon 7. Anyone that had that phone before and how it compares?
Any other comments.feedback? Thanks, everyone.
Camera is on par with the likes of Nexus 5X, S6 or iPhone 7 if you use Google Camera App.
Dev support is excellent and progressing.
If you care about built-in audio, 3.5mm port and screen resolution, Axon 7 is better otherwise Le Pro 3 is better in any department.
I think I saw somewhere Le Pro 3 goes down to $250 again so grab it while you can!

Thanks! I really don't care for the headphone jack. Never listen to music on my phone. Not sure how I feel about the resolution, since V10 has the same res as A7. Haven't had a HD screen phone in a minute.
How are the speakers on this phone, btw?

The CDLA earphone of Le Pro 3 is excellent, sound is as good as expensive audio system. =D
As for the built-in speakers, check this out

If you can get it for under 300 dlls go for it. Stock rom has amazing battery life, but there are also good stock based roms and nougat with great support and development
It's on sale now for$250. I saw on eBay

Picked one up off swappa for 180. We'll see how it is Thanks, everyone.
I believe you'll be satisfied. Speakers are great, dev support even better, its easily unlockable, easy to avoid bricking if youre just a lil careful. I've been using mine since december, bought it from aliex right when it came out (6/64gb version), and couldnt be more happy with my choice, I came from a nexus 5, am addicted to tinkering and modding the sw, and its great!
