The closest you'll get with Phoenix is getting the ISO which can be found in the first post the above link sends you to. They don't have a github afaik.
If you want to build your own Android x86, try here -- http://www.android-x86.org/getsourcecode

how to root 2.03 and install google apps:
-assuming you did a normal install first
-install RMXtools 1.6 + 1.8 fix on windows...
-run RMXtools and extract system.img, root64, rebuild system image same size, now you have a new system rooted then you just need to replace your original system image with this one.
-boot phoenix, supersu should be visible now but you need to update it first with latest beta from xda, then you can update the binary file.
-go to apkmirror and download Google playstore, latest playservices 10.5.55-480, service framework 7.1, Account Manager, One Time Init, Partner Setup.
-install lucky patcher, grant root access, click on rebuild&install, sdcard/download, click on playstore.apk, install as System app, don't reboot yet, do the same for service framework, account manager,OTI, Partner setup, then install play services as a normal app, now you can reboot.
-go to settings / apps, check the permissions for all the apps you just installed (show system)
-go to settings / autorun check to enable play services if it shows
-reboot again and log in, enjoy!!!

Android 4.1.1 HU side-load issues

Hello everyone! I have a Blaupunkt Cape Town 940 US android head unit. So far I love it! But...
I am having issues adding/flashing Google Apps to it. It is rooted, and like the title says it is 4.1.1. I can't seem to get the unit to go into recovery, if there is one built into it. I can flash a map update to it from the right side micro SD slot by hitting 'power' and 'home' at the same time from the off position. When I try to flash the 'gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip' to it by the same method, it just errors out and never gives me the option to flash a zip, reboot or anything you would normally see from a flash recovery.
Some of the .apk's in the above zip can be installed and other cannot. I can get the play store to install, but not the services or framework, or anything else from the zip for that matter - I get a parse error. The play store just says it can't connect to the server and has a retry button. It does have a connection to the internet. I can install other 3rd party apps by navigating to the apk from the stock file manager.
Can anyone elaborate on how to flash GApps to this unit, or how to side-load them with the apk's? There is not much info on the net for this unit. I am close but can't figure it out.
Thanks everyone!

I ran to the same problems couple of days ago of trying to install Gapps into my unbranded chinese headunit and figured it out last night how to get Gapps installed. My recommendation for you is as following (Require root access)
1. Go online and search for google installer.apk and system app mover.apk and install both into your headunit
2. Run google installer and look for google play (it's in chinese but you should be able to figure it out by the icon)
3. Click on google play and it should prompts you to install other 4 related google app as well ie. Google framework etc.
4. Once you have all those installed, run system app mover. (This is where you require root access)
5. Search for those 4 related google app that you just installed and move them to system (You have to be clicking on the app and move them one by one)
6. Reboot and you should have google app installed. (The version is quite old but it'll update by itself with the newest version)
Cheers

Hmm, this seems a little risky. Is there an English version of this process? Any other ideas? Thanks boyito!!
easiest way to install google services to the 940 is to send email to Blaupunkt support. They can send you a apk that will install the services. It is not supported but will load without any other things to do. I used it and have had all google's services including email, maps, store and more with no problem.

Hey guys... I downloaded this apk as well but cannot get it to work. The ReadMe!! says to root the device but when following the instructions I cannot find where it is saying to click "touch 6x OS Version". When installing the apk it installs fine but when I open it, it just says reboot when finished but then goes away and never actually installs anything.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Have you seen thre "read me" text?

Excuse me for my bad english but i've got the same problem. In fact, when i unzipped the file, i did not see the file text which was joined:
Please note that you install and apply root on your own risk.
Please copy GSINSTALLER.APK to an USB kay and follow this steps:
1: ROOT device: SYSTEM SETTINNGS -> SOFTWARE VERSION -> touch 6x OS VERSION -> new point DEVELOPER OPTIONS will appear -> select ROOT and confirm it.
2: Install PLAYSTORE: Open APPS -> open FILE EXPLORER -> select EXTERNAL USB -> look for GSINSTALLER.APK and install it -> ACCEPT SUPER USER request -> ACCEPT the UNINSTALL request.
I don't realy understand the final step (accept the uninstall request?) but, after a final shut-off, i've got Google Play on my Cape Town 945
It Worked!

Thanks for the reply. I did see the readme but didn't realize that "touch 6x OS VERSION" meant to actually press OS VERSION 6 times. I'm a little slow sometimes. Anyway I just tried it again and it worked perfectly. Works great!

Anyone using other Bluetooth devices rather than phones? I tried to connect OBDII scanner to my unit but it failed to pair, just like that = "Pairing Failed" message. Have a theory that the unit may have a limitation - to connect only the BT devices with phone/sound services. I was going to use lots of other yummies - BT tyre pressure app, BT front camera, but now I'm not sure...
Hi... This unit does not have the Bluetooth SPP (Serial Port Protocol) so it cannot be used with an OBD2 interface to display OBD apps on-screen (Torque, Dashcommand, etc).

Your apk download and instructions worked for me as well. I just put google maps on the unit with almost no trouble.

How to fix crashing Google Play services

A recent update to the Google Play services makes it crash, regardless of Android version. This is how i fixed it:
Requirements:
Root
A root file explorer
Google Play services APK (make sure to select right Android version and use arm + nodpi): http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-services/google-play-services-10-0-84-release/
System app remover: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jumobile.manager.systemapp
Instructions:
Disable WiFi.
Use System app remover to uninstall Google Play services, this will make it revert to the factory supplied version.
Install the Google Play services apk. The 10.0.84 is the latest working version accordning to my tests.
Create two folders in \data\app and name them com.google.android.gms-1.apk and com.google.android.gms-2.apk. This will stop Google Play services from auto updating. You should be able to create at least one. Do not overwrite any existing file.
Restart and enable WiFi.

Some additional steps to the above.
If Google Play is broken, like it was on mine, you can't download the System app remover. I got it from http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/jumobi...-root-3-6-2019-android-apk-download/download/
(I do not know if that site is safe.)
Download APK to PC, transfer it over USB, and install it with Terminal Emulator.
Also, if you cannot download a File Explorer since Google Play is broken, try some APK like http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/es-glo...-manager-4-1-6-android-apk-download/download/
(again, no idea if that site is safe.)
and install it via Terminal...
Then finally you can click the Google Play services APK. (Or just install it via terminal since by now you know how to...)
NOTE: if you have TF101 with KatKiss 4.4.4 you can't use the one marked Android 4.4W+, it fails and you will wasting hours of your time like I did - use the Android 2.3 version.
---------- Post added at 02:53 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:53 AM ----------
After spending 3 hours of figuring out all the above details, I still got the "has stopped" popups, because I had created the file names in terminal as gsm instead of gms. Details are important...
I should add that I did get it working, with my manual installations etc. Thanks!
Works for hours, then PlayServices autoupdate... try 2 times.
Im using katkiss 6.0
My problem is that while trying to flash KK6.0 again it gets stuck on the "Checking connection" step and it continuously prompts the famous "Unfortunately, Google Play services has stopped". I have flashed old gapps (1st Feb) but problem persists.
I know there is a general issue about a gplay/gservices version but I am not sure how to proceed now....
This is my solution for Transformer TF101 on firmware KatKiss 4.4.4:
Install Lucky Patcher from here: dl1.revdownload.com/dl1/1701/Lucky_Patcher_v6.4.5__5557_Revdl.com.apk
Open Lucky Patcher, select "Search", type "Google"
Uninstall "Google Play", "Google Play Services" (I also uninstalled "Google App" forever cause I needn't it)
Download open gapps on 2017-07-31 from here: github.com/opengapps/arm/releases/download/20160731/open_gapps-arm-4.4-pico-20160731.zip
Disable Wi-fi
Reboot to TWRP recovery
Flash gapps, wipe cache/dalvik.
Now boot and create 2 folders in /data/app - com.google.android.gms-1.apk and com.google.android.gms-2.apk
Now you can turn on your Wi-fi
Here's my solution about installing right version of Youtube for this gapps and prevent Youtube app from updating. There's ZipSigner app which changes a certificate and "detaches" the app from Google Play. For Youtube app this method causes failure on startup with a security exception. Luckily, I've found another solution:
The latest working version is 11.41.56 on October 28, 2016. Download Youtube app from here: apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/youtube/youtube-11-41-56-release/youtube-11-41-56-21-android-apk-download/download
Disable Wi-fi
Uninstall current Youtube using Lucky Patcher
Now install downloaded version of Youtube
Create a folder com.google.android.youtube-2.apk in /data/app. There should be 1 file com.google.android.youtube-1.apk and 1 folder com.google.android.youtube-2.apk.
This solution should prevent a Youtube app from being updated by Google Play: it begins to update but at the end dialog shown which says there's insufficient storage space.
By the way, you can prevent auto-update for another Google app like Google Drive. Open Lucky Patcher, click on the app and select "App Info" and you'll see a detailed info. All you need to do is to create a folder with name like apk but "-1.apk" has to be replaced with "-2.apk"
Turn on Wi-fi
Phew, good to know it wasn't only me. I've been having this Services issue for some time now on the old 4.4.4 KatKiss, googling for it, updated to 6.0.1 but the problem starts as soon as I even try to install Google Play Services in any way (either flashing GAPPS or installing afterwards with an apk). The device works fine without the Services, but then I can't use Google Play...
So is it yet known who are affected? Is this only a TF101 problem, or are other devices (also non-ASUS ones) also affected? Or is this a KatKiss issue? Or what?
I don't feel like blocking Google from updating the services, that sounds like a stopgap solution that probably makes Services unusable in the long run. Hoping that e.g. Google fixes this problem with a new update...

Yes, there are a lot of devices which faced with this issue. The reason why Google Services stopped working is so-called NEON instruction set for ARM chips. Our tablet has Nvidia Tegra 2 chip which does not support such command set! And no, that will not be fixed!
Here's a quote from the forum (bit.ly/2luHVwu):
If this started on or about the 9th it is due to Google putting ARM neon code into the last update. Older ARM chips do not have neon code functionality and are therefore screwed.
My 6 year old Asus TF101 with a Tegra 2 processor was still running like a champ with android 6.0.1 until last week.

I was having it stop at the "Checking Connection" step too, realized I was using the 2017 gapps package instead of the 2016 one. Check to see if you're using the correct one. However, I'm still having the "Google Services" issue.

I was finally able to get it to work but had to omit the .apk part of the two folder names. UPDATE: sorry, that actually didn't work, in fact, at the moment, no matter what I try, I cannot stop it from updating at some point and having to start all over again...
I rolled back to ASUS 4.0.3 original firmware.
It is working fine for the last 5 days, as long you do not update any of Google apps. The original firmware still has Google Talk pre-installed.
The original firmware is so so slow, when compared with KatKiss 6.0.1 or KatKiss 4.4.4, but at least it is working fine. No FCs at all.
Please note that there are some recent apps that do not work with Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0.3).

Kenpoh, what version of KatKiss?
I found the format of the info in the /data/apps folder different from 4.4.4 to 5.1 to 6.0. I was unable to get things to work with fresh 5.1 ROM flashes so went to 4.4.4 and creating the folder with the "-2.apk" worked in 4.4.4. I think the bottom line is you have to create a folder name that is the same name as the .apk file (with a -2) to "confuse" the auto-update.
Now that I know I can get 4.4.4 to work, I'll see if I can get 5.1 and/or 6.0 to work and share my findings.
UPDATE
OK - I gave up 6.0 required setup a WiFi connection before fully booting. 5.1 wouldn't let me load ES File Explorer from the terminal (failure uri something or other).
For 4.4.4, I:
- Downloaded ROM, SU, GAPPS, Google Play Services 10.0.84 from apkmirror.com
- Did a clean flash
- booted up installed ES File Explorer from terminal
- installed GPS 10.0.84
- reboot
- create folder using the "-2"
- reboot
All is well. I let everything update (including Google Play Games) and everything is running just fine.

Thank you very much for your post. It worked flawlessly!!!
I have a Moto Xoom which is also a Tegra 2 Non-Neon device that is experiencing this Google Play Services issue -
I just had a one-on-one chat with Google support. Since I am running a rooted Moto Xoom (Omni 4.4.4), the only advice Google one-on-one support could provide was to unroot and revert back to Stock (which is 4.1.2. on the Xoom) and/or contact Motorola for support. Google seems to be unwilling to investigate fixes unless folks that are running UNROOTED Tegra2 Non-Neon devices are also experiencing the same issue.
So, if you are running a non-rooted Tegra2 device (like your ASUS TF101's) and are having this issue, please contact Google one-on-one support and let them know via https://support.google.com/googlepla...l=en#contact=1

Phoenix OS x86 v2.0.3

Where to find 32bit version ?
Would it be possible to repackage the installer? Version 1.2.3 runs perfectly but will stop booting at random and beta version 2.0.3 boots every time but crashes within 20 minutes. Would it be possible for someone to combine the boot loader from the beta and the system os from 1.2.3? I don't know if its even possible or if that will even solve the problem but those of us with a Cube Mix Plus, an i7 or i9 would greatly appreciate such a fix
In my 64 bit CPU all android x86 32 bit versions run fine but 64 bit says opcode error. I made a screenshot Form CPU info and boot error. System will loop before bootlogo.
But Win 7 64 and win 10 64 run fine. So it is a real 64 bit CPU.
I have read a while and found out that it seems to be a Compiler Problem when it uses sse4 or sse5, is it possible to say the Compiler to dont use these.
Found this: it Seen to be possible to emulate sse4 on Intel

how to root 2.03 and install google apps:
Is anything known about whether in the end there will be a 32 bit version and whether Gapps and Root will be added again in the same they were in v1.2? Even though the beta moniker seems to be gone I get the feeling v2.0.3 is still a beta and not really ready for the everyday user.

Please define "normal" install? - I'd prefer to eventually do a dual-boot setup that uses Windows Boot Manager instead of GRUB (for touchscreen/tablet device support...and it's cleaner IMHO)
Does this work with 64-bit?
Any way to get this to work with live/bootable USB? Right now I've used the .ISO and Rufus to create a USB Stick.
Found this: http://bbs.phoenixstudio.org/en/showthread.php?tid=5732 -- Contains Rooted/Playstore ISOs
Outside of this...how trustworthy is this OS? There's a LOT of Chinese junk on here even after selecting English. Anyone try to see how much this is tracking and sending back to China?
Hi, "normal install" means installing with Phoenix installer or iso...32b or 64b, you choose on rmxtools, I did the root64...and installing to USB is possible of course, I use unetbootin usually but Rufus is okay too.
I removed all Chinese apps and i can check which one is running in background so for me it looks safe. Anyway it's always possible to remove or freeze some system apps you don't trust with lucky patcher

Did you check permissions and autorun after installing and reboot before login
Thanks for the reply, than i have installed phoenix os 2.0.3 32 bit with the normal exe installer, than i have rooted via remix tools the system img, using the explained procedure, with only changing the root64 option with the root32 option because is a 32bit OS , after that i boot up on phoenix os and updated supersu via web i was not able to find a xda version to update it :/, and after installing the newest up finded i upgraded it, to latest with success, than, i have downloaded and installed with luckypatcher the various app listed on the procedure (Google Service Framework 7.1 , one time Init 7.1 , google account manager 7.1 , partner setup 7.1, play store 7.8.15-p), i was not able to find on the site posted the play services 10.5.55-480 maybe is this the problem, i downloaded the 11.0.38-470 for x86 instead, but the only result was that when i try to open play store o create account on settings, nothing happen , i have cheked pemission and autorun and given all app permission, and play service autorun was already enabled.
After that i tryed another way, i have downloaded again the system app but with 7.1.1 version instead of 7.1, with this version i can see that play store is trying to load, but after a second play service crash and nothing happen again . ,maybe is play service that create problem don't know.
I will wait for options or a system file already done for 32bit phoenix os
I just checked my playservices and I have been updated to 11.0.38 (480-155006848) not available in apkmirror...but 470 should work for you. You can try clear data from store and services then reboot again and login. Remember system apps should all be 7.1.1

Androx, I noticed my playstore show up as internal now not as system in lucky. Try install playstore again as user app..
thanks tried to install play store and play services has internal app but nothing changed the play services crash anyway , any one had success on installing gapps on 32bit phoenix os 2.0.3 ? maybe if you had success can you share your system.img ?
Ok some good news , now i have a working play store the up specified procedure worked after some modification just use the procedure with the specified file down
1) youn need to use root32 options on rmxtools for 32bit edition of the os
2) you need oti 7.1.1, partner setup 7.1.1, service framework 7.1.1 and account manager 7.1.1, play services 11.0.47-280 version for x86-x86/64, play store 7.8.36-all and lucky patcher
3) all the app must be installed has system app via lucky patcher, if something get wrong during initialization of the store after completing the procedure, try to clear all data from the app and restart and try again.
If anyone get success on duing this procedural let we know . good bye
P.S. it seems that this procedure was working too for 2.0.5 build 32 bit
Yes man, happy to see it worked for you, indeed having system apps on 7.1.1 makes the difference. I had problems too before cause some of my sys apps were 7.1.2. Notice that once Google update playstore or services, they will show as internal and not sys but that's ok. BTW, This way of rooting and googling should work for any x86 roms...

I couldn't find the 7.8.36 version of Play Store on ApkMirror, so I went with 7.8.32. I will post my results shortly
Results:
The closest I got to getting Play Store to work is when it was asking me for login, password, and then 2-step verification. After that, it just said that it was unable to contact Google servers or something. My setup was like this:
Google Play Store installed as user app
Everything else installed as system app
Google Play Services keeps crashing when installed as user app. And the google play store just keeps loading without any progress. I had best results just having Google Play Services installed as a system app. That's the furthest I got. Let me know if you guys find a way to get the Gapps working.

[Root] Phoenix OS x86/x64 v2.2.0 (21 August) Rooted Images

Hi guys, the v2.2.0 release broke the ability to root without side effects on the Google Play Store, but a workaround is provided in the post. In this version, VPN works.
Notes:
A fresh install is highly recommended.
In this version, rooting breaks something with Gmail and Calendar causing them to not be able to sync. If you really need those apps, I recommend not rooting POS.
Instructions:
Download the correct correct system.img.7z file provided in the Download section and extract it
Install Phoenix OS.
Go to C:\Phoenix OS (or wherever your Phoenix OS installation is) and replace the system.img file with the one you just downloaded and extracted
Boot into Phoenix OS and finish the system initialization wizard.
Install Google Play Services v11.0.56: (x86 | x64)
Open Play Store, sign in with your Google Account, install the latest version of SuperSU by clicking the Update button.
-(Optional) If you for some reason cannot use the Play Store, you can find SuperSU on the official thread. Download the flashable zip, extract Superuser.apk from the common folder, and install it in Phoenix OS by opening the .apk file with the default file manager that comes with the OS. You don't have to do this step if SuperSU updated successfully in the Play Store.
Open SuperSU, click Normal to update the binary, and your Phoenix OS should now be fully rooted.

x86: Google Drive
x64: Google Drive | MEGA

If you do a fresh install, then yes. You could try just replacing the system.img and see if it still works fine. Might want to backup the folder first before doing that though. Let me know if it works for you.

Highly unlikely. I recommend joining the Phoenix OS discord server
I have just installed Phoenix OS on my laptop (dual boot - .exe) and installed many apps too (like ig, fb, chrome, games, etc.)
If I root with this method (replace original system image with the rooted image), what will affects?
My installed apps will gone or not?
Thank you.

According to what users reported, your installed apps will not be affected I do prefer to replace it right after a clean install, but if that's the situation you're in, you could just replace the system.img without it affecting your data.img. If you're unsure, just do a backup/copy of the whole Phoenix OS folder if things go wrong

You can use RMXtools v1.8. It will involve extracting your system.img, injecting rooted files, and rebilding the system.img.

Installing games with OnePlus 8 Pro

Hi XDA,
Phone: OnePlus One Pro 8
Model: IN2025
OS: Oxygen OS 11.IN11AA
Magisk:1469b82a (21101)
I recently rooted my phone and it works quite well, I have used Magisk Hide to 'hide root from my banking apps', it works so does NFC and google pay.
I hide the following service through magisk hide: (Banks, Google Play Game, Google Play Services, an authenticator (Duo Mobile))
1) However, I don't seem to be able to install some games from google playstore, namely : Eve Echoes, World of Warships, Warpath ..all of them download but give the error "Can't install, try again"
Is there a work around?
2) On a side note: is apkpure a trusted website (they seem to have APKs for everything)?
Thank you!
Cheers,
DV

I'm not sure about why google play won't work, probably you can try to wipe data and cache of the Google Play services and google play store and maybe that would work?
I have the apkpure app and it works beautifully, it updates my apps and games faster than the app store and even beta version you can find there. I mainly use apkpure so I can download games and apps that are "not available in my region"

@dvartak May sound stupid, but does the Play Store app has storage access ? I had the same message when using microg and the Play Store, I wasn't able to install any "big" app until I gave the storage permission.

That's bizarre never heard of it
Can I ask, have you got the dreaded lucky patcher installed?
If not then might be time to clear down play services, play store, play games etc, sign out - sign in
Try pushing the game by saying you want to install it via the web.
Go here and sign in, then find the game, choose your phone and itll push to your device, don't let the play store open the link
https://play.google.com/store
What modules do you have installed??

No lucky patcher
The only thing I have installed is systemless. I tried installing magiskhide props config to see if it helped; it did not, so I uninstalled it.
On the web, it says 'installed', but it isn't.
EDIT: I tried with another gmail account, reinstalling google play games.
Other online games such as Clash of Clans seem to work, so does Among Us and Genshin Impact.
The ones that don't work that I have tried: Eve Echoes, WarPath and World of Warships < All of these show up as installed on the web (but aren't installed on any android device that I own).
Eve Echoes downloads starts installing and gives the error unable to install.
Can some one who is rooted try if these games will work.
ok, one more interesting update: Netflix app seems to work, I thought it shouldn't work on rooted phones.

Must have detected root.
I think it's the game detecting it, not your system. Or Google play won't allow the installation if you're rooted on those games.
I'll try them now.
Seems to be working for me..that's warpath.. Installed then verified in game. I have play protect off

Ok so change to canary.
Head back to the normal magisk screen.
You'll see two install/update buttons
Top is magisk
Bottom is magisk manager
Update the manager, it'll download,, then click install.
Next click magisk then install directly
Reboot and you're done .
PS: have your original magisk patched img ready just in case but I've done this a LOT and have never had an issue, so you'll be fine.

One quick question, should I disable magisk hide (settings) and systemlesshosts before doing this ?
EDIT:
a) ok so I tried this, I disabled the magisk hide before attempting this, it detected my magiskpatch during direct install. When the phone rebooted things were a bit slow and my internet was not working. Another reboot and everything was fast again, but no luck with Warpath.
b) Tried to clear cache and storage for playstore and google play games. Shutdown the phone, started it again.
No luck.
c) I downloaded APKPure to try and download 'Warpath', it downloaded but would not proceed with installation., I had to manually click install APK.>The game starts and asks to download additional files..., files are downloaded and it fails to install.
In the grand scheme of things it would be great if I could install everything, I can get by with not installing these games. I fear that this might an issue with others apps as well although so far I have not encountered any problems.
Any other things I could try ?
2) On another note, I wanted to know how I could backup my active partition (just incase I want to try things and something breaks).
3) This might not be related at all, I noticed that my root folder (using solid explorer) shows 0B free of 1.42 GB. Is this normal that the root folder is completely full ?
Thanks!

Yes it's tthat's similar to mine. It's possible that that's the problem but I've not witnessed that before, maybe it is the problem.
Ok so it seems were running low on fixes here..it's almost certainly a permissions issue, maybe the system space? I'm guessing!
Have you tried to mount namespace??
Did you hide magisk manager? Unhide it. Btw I don't mean magisk hide I mean the manager, then reboot.
I'm not sure if there is a way to reset all permissions to apps including Android system apps but that would be my next step.
Beyond that, remove modules and wipe system in recovery, it'll be you're system, apps, settings, but storage will remain, it's what I do if I need to start over as system is where 90% of issues reside.. You will need to fastboot boot the magisk patched img then directly install after.
If it's not that then it's a deeper problem and even though it's just a few games at the moment it won't fix itself, so without a tonne of troubleshooting then it'll be MSM or full zip restoring. Probably MSM though as you'll get fresh everything.
Hang on your internet didn't work??
That's a sign that you're using a boot.img from the previous firmware??
That could be the problem. Re download you're firmware using oxygen updater mate.
