I just bought the galaxy s8. Should I get a case or a skin? - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

I would normally buy a case because it is safer and this phone is so damn expensive (it had been a long time since I had purchased a phone and I did not know prices were that high)... But the device is so mind-blowingly gorgeous that I'm considering a skin. I rarely drop my phone but, in the eventuality (it will happen) that I drop it, will a skin protect it? From what kind of falls? And if I end up buying one, which company should I turn to (obviously I heard of dbrand but I don't know about the alternatives)? Also if you think I should get a case, which one would you recommend that still lets me appreciate the aesthetics of the phone?
Thank your for your time.

A skin will protect it against scratches but that's about it, there's plenty of thin clear cases on ebay that will give you some protection.

I'm also wondering if I should buy a case or not.
Didn't Samsung advertise that the front screen and back screen are Gorilla Glass 5? This means they are scratch-proof yes?
The phone is absolutely gorgeous and using a case / cover makes the look a bit dull. I have been using the phone without cover for a few weeks now and thankfully, no scratches so far. I hope I can keep it the same way.
What is your idea guys?

definitely a case, im getting the tough armor myself . I already shattered the back panel :silly:

Yes Gorilla glass 5. Scratch proof? NO!!!
I like to think I was babying my phone. I had it in my pocket tried to avoid having keys in with pocket ect while I figure out case/skin situation. I am already noticing very fine scratches on the front and back. Not too bad at all, but if you look you can see them, and I do know they are there.
I am contemplating insurance for the phone because if the glass cracks that would totally blow. But I don't want a fat case because the phone is pushing the size limit for me. I will most likely go with ultra slim case and Whitestone glass protector.
Bottom line, get SOMETHING for it asap. You would think it would be tougher when it comes to simple scratches, but not so much. I've had mine since launch.

I will recommend you the case I have got. It's clear slim case from aicek https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0...=DMN9FAPAZX942JJGC4VS&dpPl=1&dpID=61itnhJDTBL
Like it a lot. Gives proper protection to the screen and edges but it's slim and s8 looks great in it.

I bought a Spigen Case Thin Fit for a S7 Edge that I had for a day. When I bought the S8 I went looking for the same case and I totally love it!

Just get the Elago Origin Case for Galaxy S8 in amazon. It's as thin as paper or phone skins (0.35mm) and you can easily remove / put it back whenever you want. It's having the protection you need but not sacrificing the design and feel of the phone which is why you've bought it in the first place.

I got a slight scratch within two days of owning it. I never put it with my keys and always in my pocket. I know many others are saying they've already received scratches so no, the screen is far from scratch resistant.

It doesn't make sense to not use a case. Glass front and back, one drop could be all it takes. In fact, one drop on concrete or a hard surface will leave damage. With a slim TPU case 99% of the time there won't be any damage in the same instance.
As far as the display, I normally use tempered screen protectors, but those don't really work with the curved edges. Better off to get some kind of wrap-around wet application protector for the display. One can use an S8 tablet wet-fit protector and cut it to fit the length of the phone wrapping it around the back on both sides, or there is one being made that actually wraps over the curved edges adhering to the back of the phone that looks good too. Going naked on the display WILL end up with scratches of some kind at some point. Really depends on how you are using your phone. But even the most careful will still accumulate some damage, that's just how it works in the real world. These devices were not built to last decades.

Both ha I got a dbrands skin which i love purely because its pretty much the equivalent of goin naked but it doesnt attract finger prints etc! I did buy a case too but i lasted a week with it lol Iam forever buying cases and after a few days i take them off! It just ruins how the phone feels in hand and for me it almost makes using it less enjoyable! Currently using just a skin which i probably isnt recommended but personally iam pretty careful with my phones and have yet to ever break a screen (touch wood)

I got a case and a screen protector yesterday. I grabbed a cheap case by Lohasic while waiting on the Samsung promotion with the free case, sd card, and netflix subscription. Unfortunately the case does push the screen protector off the sides even though the screen protector was apparently"case friendly." It is hard to decide to put a case on it because it looks so good. No case I know of doesn't ruin the look of the phone.

I too put the phone in a case now. A very very thin case so that it won't be noticeable and still displays the best looks of the phone. Phew. Thanks guys.

I had a skin and a glass protector on my first S8+ and the front glass shattered under the protector on a 2 foot drop onto tile floor.
My second S8+ had a Spigen Neo Hybrid, and dropped on 1 drop onto gravel.
Baby those phones people.

xoskins and xtreme guard screen protectors

Hiya guys,
I was just wondering if anyone else has either used xoskins or xtreme guard protectors and been left feeling disappointed? I originally had an SGP ultra on my nexus 4 but I was feeling a little annoyed that it didn't cover the full screen. Other than that they're perfect, nice screen hardness difficult to scratch and leave the screen looking amazing. I really thought the xoskins one would be perfect so I paid the price and ordered (shipped from US to UK).
Finally arrived, installed straight away. Let me just say I've fitted lots of screen protectors before to various phones and I'm pretty good at it. So much so friends and family ask me to do theirs for them. Still, the xoskins one felt a little fiddly. The solution they provide makes it very slippy, so using the squigy afterwards made it squirm around which was annoying. Also, even though both sides were wet the squigy still left slight burns after only 3-4 swipes. It took a full 48 hours for it to dry.
The cut on the protector was good, and it was nice and clear. It seemed to leave a slight orange peel effect across the screen though, and I had 4-5 thin rainbow type lines/scratches about 1cm long on the one side which were clearly on the underside of the protector (all perfectly straight and all facing down perfectly so I'm thinking manufacturing fault?). The feel of the protector was frankly awful. It flexes under finger and restricted swiping somewhat. Worst of all, any slight knock leaves imprints. I tested it by lightly rubbing my nail across it, it left a clear mark that was there for 2-3 days! It flexes way more than I'd like, I can't see it providing much protection from knocks tbh. Granted I wouldn't do this in normal usage but any other knocks left imprints too.
So I removed it, and thought I'd try the xtreme guard. My god, I've never used such a rubbish protector. The cut is dubious at best, the screen clearly looks worse when its on and it suffers from the same indentations and flexing as the xoskins ones.
Maybe I've been spoilt by the SGP ones (I still have the back protector SGP skin on there as its a perfect fit as its flat) or maybe all wet application protectors are like this to be more flexible for the curved glass?
Either way I've ordered another set of SGP protectors and I'll put up with the exposed edges. I'm sure there's people out there that are happy with their protectors, but I just wanted to share my experiences.
Wet applied screen protector can never compete with the dry one..even the $1 junk one.
I took off my Xtremeguard and using the junk that came with my nillkin case..which is still much clearer than the xtremeguard.
But I keep the back of xtreme since it make it less slippery.
Glad its not just me who found this then I can see how having a *stickier* back protector could be beneficial. The SGP one I have is still rather slippy. Hoping it will help strengthen the back though in case it has any accidents The SGP ones saved my iPhone 4 before. One was a drop from my ear onto a wooden floor!
It's nice to read that I am not the only one who dislike the Xtreme guard screen protectors.
I just cant believe how sticky it feels and how much it gets scratches and dents.
I've got a fillkin flip case comming my way as well so I think I'm also going to replace the front xtreme guard screen protecotr with the nillkin one.
One thing to keep in mind for all wet protectors is that when you need to push out the bubbles, never used a squeegee. It is very difficult to avoid burns on the surface with a squeegee. Instead wet your finger tips and push the bubbles out with your finger. Much easier and doesn't leave burn marks.
If you absolutely need to use a squeegee, the paper one provided by SGP (ironically) is pretty good for wet protectors. Use the corner as much as possible and don't push too hard.
I myself prefer dry protectors as well but there are indeed some good things about wet ones. They are very scratch resistant, provide more grip, and doesn't show finger prints as much.
The xo skin i have is trash the front has so many random Knicks and bubbles and stuff the back does too but I'm going to leave that on and just use these 3 for $5 screen protectors from amazon until the glass protector comes out with reviews

I am using the XG and granted it has it's orange peel look to it, but I don't mind it. The look reminds me that I have a sp on and I can safely put the phone in my Seidio holster without looking. LOL.
Yes, the screen looks way better with a dry sp on, but I am happy with the cutouts and fitment. And plus doesn't affect the Diztronic Ultra hard case at all when taking off or putting on. Which is good IMO.
Am I 100% happy? No, I say maybe 96%. But for the price of 3 front and backs for 6 bux. I can't really complain too much.
Xtreme Guard are excellent. You just need to take your time applying it and pushing out the bubbles. Minimal orange peel and the protection is perfect around the curved edges.
After having mine on for nearly a week i'd still disagree. I have no bubbles or marks on the xg but it does have the black spots issue I've read about which suck! The cuts off on mine everything is aligned perfectly with screen edges but 1/4 of the camera lens is covered. Honestly its not how I fitted it. The feel is also pretty bad. I genuinely cannot wait until I get my new SGP ones.
Xoskins replied to my email about 4-5 days after I showed photos of the defects. They are sending me out a new protector at least. Will probably sell it on eBay to claw back some cash.
I'm not going to bother emailing xg as they're cheap and tbh I won't be going near their protectors again!

The problem I had with XO Skins was that the protector for the back of my n4 had a little pin hole in it! Luckily they are replacing it free of charge, including shipping! Which is good cause I'm in the UK and did not want to pay to send it back to the US.
The protector for the screen however has been brilliant, I've had it for about two weeks on there and the sort of rubbery feeling goes away and it feels very similar to the glass on touch. If a little more squishy. It does not drag against my finger anymore.
As for bumps leaving marks, I've noticed that, but they always go away within about thirty seconds.
All the bubbles have disappeared on my screen and its very clear.
I definitely agree with the OP about the application process though, the solution makes it very slippery, which is good when trying to position the skin. But when using the squeegee to push out the air bubbles and liquid the skin moved everywhere. After that though, it dried family quickly, did leave it overnight anyway.
I'd say I'm pretty pleased with my XO Skins purchase.

Why not? I'm talking about the front facing camera not on the rear. My SGP ones arrived this morning so the xg one was ripped off almost straight away so unfortunately I can't take you a photo to show you.
The cut was definitely off, there was some extra material right in the dip of the cut out that goes around the lens as if it hadn't been cut cleanly. The dip wasn't rounded like it should of been. Maybe I just got a bad one in this respect, but it shows there is very little quality control. Especially as mine also suffered from the same black spots I've seen elsewhere.
The bottom of the protector was literally up against the chrome rim, I couldn't of positioned it any lower so it wasn't due to bad positioning. It was just poorly made.
I've just ordered a Nillkin case which will hopefully help protect the bits of glass the SGP ones miss. The feel and screen clarity is so much nicer!
Well, xoskins replacement arrived today. It had been put into an envelope that has a bright blue lining and the edges of the protector now have a lovely blue haze. Great! It didn't even have a piece of card in to stop bending etc. so lucky it survived at all.
Not even worth trying to sell it, If I purchased one off ebay myself and it had this haze I'd be gutted. Really disappointed with them.
I did notice they seem to of changed the design too. My previous xoskins one had a U shaped cut out for both the front camera and the proximity sensor. This new replacement has O shaped holes for both so that there is something actually protecting the top edge all the way along.
That sounds like your first one was a case fit and your new one is a full skin. When I got a replacement it came sealed in a baggy, crazy. I would hit them up again.

The first one I had definitely went right up to the chrome edges on every part other than the top by the proximity sensor and camera where there was a U shape.
I'll drop them another email and see what happens. They can only say no.
Well, what can I say? I'm using the xg for the front and for the back of my nexus 4 and I'm very pleased with it. I have them on for about 2 weeks now and everything is well..
The cut of the xg protector is one of the best out there. In my past galaxy nexus I used a clear screen protector and every 2 months I had to change it with a new one because of the dust that got under it... Causing to many bubbles.
That's not the case with the xg protector. This thing is not going anywhere.. And I also use it with the official LG bumper case with no problems..
I'll try to upload some pictures for you to see.. The only disadvantage is that the feel of the xg protector is worst from other clear screen protectors, using the dry install method.

Completely Naked?

Is anyone using this phone completely naked? No case, no screen protector, no back protection? I asked this another way a little earlier; only one response. Very curious. I'm looking at the Z5 Compact and the Samsung S6 Edge. I prefer the specs and size of the Z5, but I know 2 people who use their Edge without any protection. After several months, they still look good.
All opinions appreciated.
Thanks.
Not very old but I use mine with a tempered glass screen protector that you'd never know was there anyhow... Phone doesn't have a mark or look worn
Any protection on the back?
Nothing on the back, it's not glass like the Z3 Compact...

Well, it is glass at the back, it's just frosted.
I have screen protectors both sides. Usually backside gets more hits
I just put a tempered glass screen protector on mine and am debating getting a $3 aluminum bumper from eBay until the Devilcase is released. I like the look of the phone naked and have had it that way for a few weeks, but I already have a few tiny nicks on the poly carbonate ridge along the backside. They're hardly noticeable, but the phone hasn't taken any hard drops. I'm thinking the PC won't hold up long term without getting damaged.
I've been using the phone without case since one day.
I'm just worried about the camera glass. I'd put a ring a bumpon or something to lift up that area a bit.

It's kind of matt glass. Very good for me, no visible finger prints

I've only owned two smart phones in my life. The very first one, I got a silicone case and a SGP (plastic) screen protector. I've scratched the screen protector maybe twice, not sure if it would have scratched glass. I owned it for 2 years
For my second phone, I saw some videos about how silicon cases and bumpers don't really protect against drops because of how thin they are. I decided I didn't need the case but still got the protector since it has no affect on clarity, feel, thickness. I've had it for three years. Scratched the screen protector three times. I don't know how it happened but I did get a tiny crack in the bezel. Since it's black its barely noticeable.
I've dropped my phone plenty of times. Usually not from far, like 2-3ft onto carpet.
I just ordered the Z5 Compact. I decided to try the tempered glass protector. And I also ordered the Orzly Fusion bumper case. I figure the hard back might actually protect something. I figure the slippery body and sharp corners make it more susceptible to damage. Also, I'm paying full price for this phone so I'm more inclined to protect it.
I read about people that use their phones naked all the time. Maybe it really isn't needed but I don't want to take the chance with my own phone.
One other alternative I can think of is to buy insurance for your phone. Something with a low deductible.

Ordered the S7 Edge, I'm scared I'll drop it and break it....

Currently I'm using an S5 without any cases or covers, and it's still drop-proof, dropped it multiple times on hard floor/concrete and there is no damage on the screen what so ever. And before that I had an HTC One X, which is probably more similar to the Edge in that the screen isn't protected if it drops face down, I did eventually crack it with that kind of a drop. However the edge is gonna be even more problematic because even the back is glass, and no plastic protruding edge to protect it.
Sure I could put it in a bulky case but then it kind of defeats the purpose of having one of the most premium feeling phones ever doesn't it? It'll also negate any ergonomic benefits of the curved back edge as well as the ease of edge swipe on the front edge. Might as well just get something like a.... I don't know, nobody makes high end plastic phones anymore now days, even cheap phones like One Plus is front+back curved glass. Also this thing is already a bigger phone than what I'm used to, adding a beefy case is just gonna make it that much bigger, which I do not like.
Well I guess plenty of people did survive the iPhone 4 glass sandwich era just fine, I'll just have to wish myself luck. I wonder how much would one of those adhesive skins help in a drop situation. Sure they are very thin but if think about the physics of it, gorilla glass is actually quite flexible so it doesn't break from the acceleration of the impact itself, so thinness doesn't really matter. What actually breaks these surface hardens glass is usually a microscopic failure on the surface developing into a big crack. And those microscopic failures can happen when they make contact with sharp hard stuff like individual sand particles, they effectively puncture the surface and develop a weakness. So if you have a skin on the glass, what'll hopefully happen instead is that the skin will be thick enough for the particle to not make direct contact with the glass, and prevent breaking. Even though such thin skins cannot significantly reduce the impact acceleration.
I understand your points, but please, don't ever try to use this phone naked. You NEED a case, the grip is so bad that dropping it is almost a guarantee and the back glass seems to be much more fragile than the front glass from what I have seen in videos. About the cases, you may want to look into the Samsung official plastic backs or (when available) the leather backs. The official plastic back cases from Samsung are the only ones (in my opinion) that really do not ruin the phone's design, the design remains almost intact. However, while the grip is much improved over the naked phone, it is nowhere near other bulky and rubberized cases. A rubberized plastic wrap would be a solution, but the big problem still remains - the metal sides of the phone which are very narrow.
PS: As I understand from the latest spy pics, the iPhone 7 will have a glass back again...probably needed for radio/charging/payment/other secret developments.
There are plenty of case available that won't make the phone look s**t. I'm using a Spigen Crystal Clear, a very good combination of protection and looks. It's impossible to completely keep the phone's look and feel, but it's probably as close as possible whilst being confident of being able to accidentally drop it from pocket height without damage.
Glass protectors on these curved screens are to be avoided, that's my personal opinion anyway. My brother bought numerous types of these for his S6 Edge (expensive and cheap) and not one went on properly without raising on the curves within twenty minutes, causing touch problems on the edges. Go for a good quality film type like a Zagg HD Dry.
I copied you entirely mate I'm not ashamed to say. Got my Spigen Crystal Clear yesterday and, your right, it does look good, but not as good as the nekkid phone itself. But I guess that's the price of good protection.
Just waiting for my Zagg HD Dry front and back covers to arrive today.
I'm personally using Otter Box Commuter for me and my wife's phone. I was able to try it on in store before purchasing. I was sort of desperate for a case on delivery day and it was the most protective case I found. I'm happy with it overall. It's sleep and slim and although the whole front in uncovered it does have raised top and bottom edges so if the phone falls flat the screen doesn't actually touch the floor.

I would love to use the phone naked as it just looks so good, but I am scared to risk it. I have never dropped and cracked a phone, and I had an Iphone 4S without a case for 2 years which were well known for getting smashed, I have a clear case on the edge at the moment to offer it some protection.
Carrying and using smart phones without any case is just asking for trouble. I have the S7 Edge and when it arrived on March 2nd it stayed at home in the box until my Spigen Ultra Hybrid case arrived (which was a few days later). I was still using my S5 because I didn't want to take any chances.
After my case arrived I put it on but I still keep the original plastic film on the screen because I was waiting for my Skinomi screen protector to arrive. My Skinomi arrived yesterday and I installed it last night.
So if you don't want a bulky case get the Spigen Ultra Hybrid (I went with the crystal clear color). I ordered my case and screen protector from Amazon. The case is very nice looking and doesn't add any bulk to the phone.

Q.E.D.

Case or no case

Poll... Will you put a case on this awesome looking/feeling phone?
Yes, without one I'll lose resale value. I only keep my phones for 8-12 months and then sell them on to get something else. I want it in perfect condition. I'll probably sell next year and get the 2018 Oneplus device.
I do care about look and feel though, only got a thin Spigen case. I'll use it without sometimes, when at home.
I'm just using a skin and maybe a screen protector.
Most likely make.... Maybe a skin and only occasionally in a case.

Case. The phone is strong front and back and does not bend easily- however the corners are vunerable to breakage- spreading to other parts of the phone. Luckily, good cases can easily protect against this vulnerability.

Haven't decided between naked, a skin or ultra thin case. I have a Caudabe slim on my iPhone 7+ (https://www.caudabe.com/products/the-veil-xt-iphone-7-plus?variant=29855290116) and would love that on this. My LG G6 goes naked.
Like buying a 800$ phone and NOT protecting it? I know too many people who damaged their high end phone because of saving on the case...
I will more than likely have a dbrand skin on the back and screen protector on the front, or, no screen protector and a pocket sleeve. The slim cases are such a joke to me, more for grip than anything.. most phones that fall on the corner onto a hard surface is still going to end up with a blemish/dent , probably enough to annoy you and call insurance and request a replacement anyways.. No slim/air case protects the glass, at that point you would need a screen protector and the only way to really protect that is with a glass one, and we all know how that fiasco worked with the s7 edge and note 7...
I ordered the clear spigen ultra hybrid and plan on using it with nothing else as of yet. I'll wait until I can find a screen protector that doesn't change the feeling of the screen.
Not going with a skin right away because the color (Orchid Gray) was really the reason why I fell in love with the S8, and a skin on the back kind of ruins that for me.
Comparing the ultra hybrid to my old S6, it is literally 1mm wider than a case-less S6.
I never had a case on any of my phones and none suffered any type of physical damage. I guess it depends on the person and in general how you handle your belongings

I bought the same case, but the Black bumper version (since I got the black S8) instead of the all clear version. Got it in the mail a few days ago, and its perfect. Not thick, and feels great. I won't get a screen protector since I like my screens naked
Definitely a case. I usually have 3 or 4 different ones. One hard plastic, very thin case. These are super slim but offer the least protection. One or two different TPU cases. Again, I will go slimmer, but these will be my daily drivers so I want some corner protection. I look for TPU cases that come up a bit higher on the curved edges - the curved edges are the most vulnerable part of these edge phones plus it helps lessen accidental edge touches (although I turn off all edge features anyway). Lastly I will look for a sturdier otterbox type case. One of my businesses I am a contractor/builder and having a real sturdy (yes bulkier) case is needed in this setting. I only use a case like this while on the job site though.
I have yet to see a decent tempered screen protector for edge screens. Couldn't find one for my note 7 or S7E. I will be using a full body wrap that is actually meant for the Samsung Note 8 tablet. It is a softer, clear screen protector but since it is bigger it will wrap around the whole phone. I cut it down to length of course to fit. But since it wrap around the whole phone it stays on with any case. The ones that are made to cover the entire display right to the bottom of the curved edge alway peel. So having a full body wrap screen protector is the best option IMO.
Will protect this beauty with a few different cases...
Yep, with my clumsy-ass self, I need one or else my phone will end up in crappy condition. And if I have a good case, I can retain its resale value as well. If my mom wasn't taking my S6, I'd sell it. Gonna get a few cases, depending on where I'm gonna be going. A thinner one for daily use and a thicker one if I'm doing things where I'd need more protection, like if I go hiking, or if I wanna carry as little as possible.
I hate cases, especially on such a pretty color like the orchid grey, but I already have my spigen air hybrid on hand because my S6 too often has liked to literally jump out of my hand.

Like buying a 800$ phone and NOT protecting it? I know too many people who damaged their high end phone because of saving on the case...

no doubt. i guess a lot of people have expendable income.
I already got my Spigen Neo Hybrid. I'll buy a Spigen slimarmor case and a clear case after I get my S8+. I will probably buy more but not right away. Envoy caseology case. And I will get a screen protector, when I find a good one or if I find a good one.

Anybody using the phone without a case ?

Hello Everybody
I have installed a transparent but not so slim case to my LG G6.
I wanted to know whether this phone be maintained in mint condition without case easily ?
Please let me know your thoughts.
Hi, I Didn't thought about not using a case, currently using voia slim case that came with the unit free that i bought with some local store here in the Philippines. I am not sure if i would use it without a case, it seems fragile to me
The class back necessitates done protection, using Spigen ultra hybrid slim case.

Using Spigen Thin fit case with SF matt finish.

I use it without any protection ... The problem is the rear glass camera .. it's very very very easy to scratch poor quality
I don't use cases, I hate them. I frankly hate that today phones are presented without cases, companies present how they look nice without case etc. But they are made in a way that you have to use some ugly case anyway (camera bump, slippery back etc.) .
So I am using G6 without case (one of the few phones without camera bump and it is easy to hold) and so far it is ok, but I am afraid about the rear camera glasses of course...
I wasn't using a case, then as I took the phone out of my pocket it slipped and smashed on the floor. Got it repaired and now using a Spigen Thin Fit case on it (this one in fact https://www.amazon.co.uk/Spigen-Coated-Surface-Excellent-Compatible/dp/B01N6T3N9T )
I don't find it gets in the way at all, or adds too much weight to the phone, but as long as manufacturers keep insisting that "premium build" equals "making it out of fragile materials like glass" I'll will be using a case on all phones from now on.
Previously had a G4 and loved that the back was just a removable piece of plastic that would stand up to pretty much everything. I don't understand why phones have moved away from this kind of build over the last few years, and gone to slippy, delicate glass!
i hate cases .. they kill the design
i prefer Skins from Dbrand
I am using the UAG Ash case, still case see the case and gives it protection.

Oooh, some of those are very nice!
I do love the design of the phone, but it's way too slippery for me not to use a case. I went for a Snakehive leather flip case and tempered glass on the screen.
Dbrand skin on the back, and insurance I love the feel of the naked phone.
Thanks to everyone for your participation and thoughts.
I am also considering skins instead of cases, but the problem with the skin is it is getting dirt especially in the edges after some time and they are turning yellowish as well.
The cases are cheap at least what I am using, but skins neither cheap not easy to apply again and again.
The skin I tried previously was Invisible Shield.
My phone colour is blue, so. the case/skin options are again getting limited, only transparent cases/skins are looking good.
Let me know your thoughts.
I use it without a case and got a skin for the back and camera lens. Keeps it from getting scratched to hell. I have dinged up against something while it was in my pocket and chipped the top but other than that nothing major at all. It was my fault those pesky basketball shorts let the pockets swing to much
I don't use case and i can tell lens protection is really really bad.
Ringke air crystal view ! (Y)
I am currently caseless. Sometimes I put a case on my phone but after a while, when I take it out to clean out the dust, I remember how nice it was with no case and leave it out for a few months. I have a thin TPU one which is nice, and a real wood one which looks amazingly good even though it is kind of a brick.
I am not a big fan of skins (had a clear one on an old phone and after a while it yellowed and peeled), but I do like the idea of the real wood ones (not the dbrand ones which are vinyl even if they look like wood). Might try one of those when my wood case breaks (which I'm sure it will).
As for the camera glass scratches - look through the forums here; consensus is that the glass is not scratching but it has a soft coating that scratches. This coating can be polished off and then no more scratches. And it doesn't seem that a case is any protection from whatever (temperature? air pressure?) is causing a few mysterious camera glass shatterings.

i don't use a case on this phone yet. going for a skin whenever i get around to it with my list of things to buy. first time i went longer then a few days without a case. i went without a case since march. I use a holster on my pants or shorts. I am so careful with my phone so it doesn't get scratched or dinged up.
I was gonna go with a skin like Dbrand but I got this really thin case instead. Been extremely happy with it
