V20 in the UK - What SW Version are You On? - LG V20 Questions & Answers

I have just bought a V20 from an Ebay seller.
It comes with Android 7.0 and it says that there are no newer versions to download.
However, my security patch level seems quite old being December last year.
The SW version details are as follows:
Android Version - 7.0
Android Security Patch Level - 1 December 2016
Kernel Version - 3.18.31
Build Number - NRD90M
Software Version - V10c-TWN-XX
Does anyone else in the UK with a V20 have more up to date software and if so how did you get it?

So do all TWN phones have a security patch from December 2016?
Do other variants of the phone have later patches?

Go here -
https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/restore-v20-to-100-stock-bricked-devices-t3524903
Download the following firmware -
H990ds10e_OPEN_SG_DS_OP_0314.kdz
Follow instructions in OP and when in LGUP select Update.
You'll have newer firmware with security patch at 1 March 2017.
And use search function, this has been answered already.

Thanks for that.
I had seen that link but I had no idea if that would install a later version of software than I already have.
Just so I understand - why does my phone say that it is up-to-date if there is a later version of the firmware on LGs web site? (Where does the V20 check for firmware revisions?)

You're welcome. I was also supplied the link by another user, that's one of the great things about XDA and the members here.
Because a lot of us TWN variant owners don't live in the region the phone was released in we won't get OTA updates.
That's just how LG operates. I find it ridiculous that they release variants for different regions with different specs, hardware etc..
How do they come to the conclusion that the V20 will not be released in the UK and Europe?
People of some countries prefer 64GB but others will be happy with 32GB????
Wireless charging only for some?
Then there's the bootloader unlock farce........
This phone is really awesome and root would make it even more the perfect phone for me. But I knew what the situation was before I got it, and I'm still happy I own it.

Because the updated firmware is NOT meant for your branded TWN V20. It will work but you will not get any upcoming updates anymore. You will have to that maually.

Hi Pierre.
You're absolutely correct, but updating to where we are now is better than no update at all don't ya think?
And it's easy now to check for and install future updates :good:

Hi, you are absolutely right about that. And I think it's pretty safe to switch firmware. it's quite easy with LGUP. But maybe LG will surprise us the coming weeks with a fresh new TWN update

And a bootloader unlock too?
That would be awesome, I'm already missing all the stuff I was able to accomplish on my Z2.

H990DS can be flashed to same model firmware of other regions. My TWN H990ds had flashed to Philippines V10g and working without any problem , only two pop-up message after every system restart , but it didn't affect to any function..
Base on the hardware of H990ds is similar to H990n (HongKong) , I tried to flash to V10h(H990n) and it is working as well.
Both version's performance are better than TWN-V10c , i think it's worth to upgrade.

The International model has been stuck on V20D for quite some time now. Seeing that new firmware is released for a lot of countries with updated security and stuff makes me think we'll get an update soon (crossed fingers!).
I'm getting tired of waiting. When I bought LG G4, I was hoping for regular updates for flagship phone. I have updated my phone on 3.3.2016 and there were no updates since then. It is still on v20d! Terrible support! Half of a year with 01-01 security update! Really safe and funny. These regionals updates are not smart and are not good. They should have push now firmware for everyone, not just for selected countries! I'm angry!
Why exactly we still didn't get 6.0.1? Are they planning to skip it and go straight to N?

Someone said we're on 6.0.1 but it's displaying as 6.0 "just like 5.1 was 5.1.1". But I can't confirm on that

Well considering how they ignored M they must release N even thought official support ends in August.
If they don't release N they must release latest available M 6.0.1 revision...
They are doing something but this is like one time a year and not a major updates, for flagship I think this is a joke if you compare it to how iPhones get updates...
P.S. I just checked that iPhone 5s which is even older than G4 have received latest iOS update long time ago really makes me wonder what is happening with android and OEMs...

You can't compare LG with Apple. You can compare Nexus phones with iPhones though. And you can see older phones getting new updates as well.
As for Android N, it'll be released officially this Fall, so OEMs have a lot of time to prepare for it. But LG has really had bad support all over the place.
Do you think there would be a problem if I updated my international device with this kdz?

OK, I'm going to download LGUp from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/lgup-install-kdz-mm-lp-t3249803
In my understanding this is just like ODIN for Samsung and will not void warranty as long as it is an official kdz, right?

My device also has version CUSTC100D002. Like I posted above, got it OTA.
I'm in germany and have no OTA Update until now.
Hello to everybody. I bought my M3 with LTE a month or two ago from Amazon DE however I live in Bulgaria(I use UK local settings for the tablet). I'm still at BTV-DL09C100B009 with which it came and I'm not getting any OTA updates. I keep it without SIM because my two cards are in my mobile phone and I don't need one for the tablet in everyday usage. I only use data-only SIM with it when I travel.
Anyway I moved one of my SIM's from my phone to the tablet in the hopes I would get the update and then return it back but still nothing. I even installed the latest HiSuite but even there it says I'm on the latest official build. Am I missing something? Why am I not getting the official update and is there a way to install it manually(FirmwareFinder perhaps? and how to differentiate it from the previous file with the same version)? Also from what version did you receive your updates when they came?
I would appreciate any help.
Best regards,

What is the latest version of ZTE B2017G in europe ?

Hey, I had this phone for a while and I wasn't getting any updates so I downloaded nougat update from some russian site few months ago. It is working so-so and I am wondering if there is better and newer version of it ? Please link me to it if there is . There are so many versions on the internet so I am really unsure which one to get.

Thank you so much for the link! At first i waited months for Nougat OTA update in Finland but it was nowhere to be seen. Then i tried some SD card update methods but all my previous attempts failed for some reason but now using that update package behind your link, i finally have frikkin' Nougat So i updated straight from v1.0.0B12 to v1.2.0B12. Nougat also brought Hi-Fi audio option for ZTE music player, nice! I don't know about you but when i was on 6.0.1 MM, that startup melody was WAY TOO LOUD but now it's much more quiet so that's a nice little thing. Again, many thanks to you for providing that link that worked for me too

Hi, how is battery life after nougat update?
Thanks
I haven't noticed much difference but it seems little better now. On MM, it was draining so fast! Still not very good to be perfectly honest.
There's a new firmware B13, in the german zte support site:
https://www.ztemobile.de/support/downloads/?product_id=2344
I found out that since few days ago on the global site (.com) there are three updates for this phone: B12, B13 and something I can't really tell what is: "(A11B23_update_si) N rollback M Version". Which one is the best and newest - B13? Is this the same as german B13 version? I use my device in Poland and the 1 june 2017 B09 update didn't have good translation. I'll maybe try this B13 version.
I have my phone from Gearbest.
Well I did update to B2017GV1.2.0B13 from that site. Build from 1 September 2017. It works. Translation to polish is much better, but not perfect. I really don't see any more changes.

isnt weird, different carriers have different letters in the firmware, like vodafone could do a v20d with december security patch, and orange could do a v20a with the same security patch, it depends from the carrier.
but is better to flash the OPEN_EU everytime cause the more advanced the letter is, the latest security patch is built in. Carrier wise isnt the same way...

Been trying to find this firmware number (g950usqu5drl7) but none of the websites had this exact one listed. If someone knows somewhere I can find it or can link it below that will help so much pls and thank you.

From >this post of 2019-02-13<, it seems that you are looking for unofficial firmware. It's hard to expect someone to maintain firmware that is long out of date.

It may have been a version that only AT&T and Cricket got. AT&T doesn't allow their firmware files to be posted publicly, so those can't be pulled from Samsung servers the way that other carriers' firmware can

I just realized why he can't find it, and it's because 5DRL7 wouldn't have been a valid release. In bootloader revision 5, D signifies Android 9, but that didn't come around until the build ending in SC1.
So RL7 would have still been Android 8, and, if it did ever exist as a valid release, would have been 5CRL7

Ok after searching my thread it was indeed ATT release pulled from there update server in Dec 2018 when that was possible a long time ago. It actually was never released officially because rollout was halted for almost 3 months back in the day but it was the first actual official build of pie but technically it was a leaked version I guess you could say but we all ran it until actual odin files came out and they were DSC something and were not released until march of 2019.
This is website it was obtained from
Download the latest Samsung software updates

Ahh, makes sense. Because it looks like every single carrier got a 5CSAx and/or 5CSBx release, before finally getting Pie as 5DSC1. But if they pulled it because it was unstable or whatever, that would explain it
