Yeah, I tried it too, deactivate the Google app makes the buttons go away and it stops functioning but it will still be visible.
Alternatively you can install another launcher, that certainly does the job.
I did put a new launcher
Nova launcher pro
But lost my previous launcher backup and now it just too much headache

Nova launcher allow U to import setting and shortcuts from another launcher on 1st setup.

How to disable the google search on the Nexus 4 screen.. I dont generally use that for any search and want to disable it..

Exactly.
I enjoyed using Nova to change icon size and enlarge the grid to fit more icons in the row. Even if you don't make any changes other than getting rid of the Google search widget, I'd recommend giving Nova a try.

So I decided to upgrade to Soundhound plus, in large part because of the 1x1 ID Now widget. I can deploy this without issue when using the stock Touchwiz Launcher. For some strange reason, I cannot use it with other launchers, so far having tried Go Launcher and Nova Launcher. In each case, the widget list only shows the other (4x1, non-auto-start) Soundhound widget, not the ID Now one I want. This, of course, is an issue, because I want to make use of ID now, but I also really want to switch to a better launcher, one that will allow me to put more content on each homescreen.
Thoughts?
EDIT: A related problem: Pandora widget works in stock launcher but not Nova launcher.
Some widgets are only built for selected launchers. For example the AccuWeather widget only works on touchwiz launcher. And won't work if you use a third party launcher.

Try Apex Launcher it works perfectly for me. Never had one single problem with widgets on Apex Launcher yet.

You can't find it in Go Launcher (and possibly others) because it's a "Shortcut" and not a widget. I have Go Launcher and ID Now is under Shortcuts .
I have my phone rooted, but I don't want to change to another launcher.
Is there a way i can remove it ?.
i really like the touchwiz launcher, the only thing bothers me is the apps Icon.
I asked if it could be moved and didn't get a response so I doubt it!

I was on the same boat but I don't think u can so I installed the Nova Launcher and IMO the smaller icons are nicer and you can remove it
Moved? No. Removed? Yes. You can enable the Samsung Labs option in the settings (I don't remember where it is, but google it), and then you'll get the option to disable the app drawer.
If you don't want to remove it, then your only option it to change launcher. I personally recommend either Nova Launcher (Prime) or Action Launcher (Pro)

I'd like also and don't want to root. I used Novalaucher to remove google search, but there were problems. Many things had disappeared! So, I came back to Google launcher
I'd also like to know if this is possible. I'd rather not have it on my home screen.
I also hate it. Maybe installing some other different launcher?
There's an option in nova launcher for this but I haven't tried it on the yota. It works on every other device I've tried though.

I've installed Nova launcher, removed the google bar and changed the menu color to AMOLED-friendly black. No issues by now

Things did not disappeared, when you change launcher, and Nova Launcher is a Launcher, all the widgets and so on are removed from the screens, you have to activate your widgets on the new launcher, you apps and widgets are still there, you just have to configure them on the new Launcher.
Nova Launcher is actually one of the best launchers, you can actually make a backup of your widgets and icons arrangements with it, Arrow launcher is also very interesting.
Keep in mind, when you change launcher you widgets locations icons, etc are reseted, so if you want to try a new launcher, you have to backup the launcher settings, Nova Launcher and Arrow Launcher has a backup function built in, Google Now launcher does not, you can use Titanium BackUp Manager to make a backup of any app and it's settings, including Google Now Launcher, but for that you would need Root.

Thank you. I'm using Nova launcher from years on different phomes. I don't remember what happened with Yotaphone.
I ordered a new one and make trial again.
How can I configure the settings for the moto launcher? I want to add more apps to the dock. The limit right now is 5. I want to add a 6th or 7th to the dock. When I drag and drop it says "no more room in favorites tray"
I want these on my dock:
1. Phone
2. Txt
3. Chrome
4. Photos
5. Camera
6. Bluemail
I briefly tried Microsoft and Nova launcher and didn't like them.

I tried some other launchers. i didn't really like them, but i didn't play with them enough. Evie launcher and liked that besides not being able to remove their search bar.

Lawnchair, Hyperion Launcher, CPL, there's a bunch of them. And what part did you not like about Nova? Most likely you just didn't want to take your time and configure it to your liking, that's all.

I only tried it for a few minutes. Im happy with the basic launcher besides for its lack of adding more than 4X5 and 5X5 grid.
