So, no idea when there will be official release, but it seems stable. It is very similar to the P10's firmware at this point.
Update: The chinese version includes Google Play Services out of the box. Interesting.

Then Huawei's statement about "Phones on EMUI 5.0 won't be getting 5.1" is utter bull****? Nice going there Huawei! >< Are there any changes in the Camera App, enabling the Pro Video mode? Would you mind seeing how it does the GPS, with Galileo as well? Does it see more, then 1 EU satellite?

Yes, it's utter bs. EMUI 5.1 is definitely coming. Any build above 300 will be labelled as EMUI 5.1.
Regarding your other questions, if I have time to try I will.

Thanks, work with that German fella from the GPS thread to log the output and see if it's changed. To test the camera, well try zooming 1.1x and see if the quality and sharpness improves. Was a 'bug' on some firmwares.

any idea when is going to be available for the chinese version non rooted?

Do you know if it will include Android 7.1.2 for final release??

i was comparing emui 5.1 to my mate 9 pro emui 5.0 and i don't really see any visual differences. even the new gestures on one hand ui is already in emui 5.0.

Still on December security update here lol

A beta is currently available, for non-rooted Chinese.
Final release, who knows?

Mid June is a spoken timeframe to start with that update.
But still don't know, if P9 gets it too or only Hisi 960 and Hisi 95x getting that smaller patch.

Hope they release it soon

What does this update offer? Sometimes it is only worse! Plus this is a photo of the Chinese version.

Does the version matter? You can have a Chinese version too, if you want! I'm sure Emui 5.1 is much better , then 5.0. That ought to be enough arguments in favor of the new version for now

Yes, I am specifically looking to have the ability of
Hiding apps,
Removing the navigation bar when using the navigation circle,
Double tap when driving,
Customisation,
Better Dock and home screen,
and Softtouch
as this gem is capable of all of them. Otherwise for a few "Bugs fixed" and "Security patches" wouldn't wanna see another 1GB of storage and memory wasted.
Plus the Chinese version has a different story and nothing to do with the international version. That is why it matters.

I'm a bit confused. Does anyone know if we get an OTA 5.0 rom provided by OnePlus or a CM12(s) rom? Or does that info come on 12 februari?

We should get a CM 12S ROM via OTA. The newly announced ROM is for places like India where cyanogen and oneplus have have been having issues with agreements. It will most likely be available for all for download though.
Good cause a big reason I bought this phone was to have cyanogen as stock ROM.
We can probably stick with whatever ROM you're using and you'll get OTA for it. But if you're already on CM and want to switch, I assume you'll need to flash OP's ROM before you can get OTA from them. I don't think there will be a CM -> OP ROM migration path.

Let's see if they do what they say.
They've leaked some screenshots of OxygenOS, nothing too exciting--just the app drawer and weather app.

If that screenshots are real and that will be the official OxygenOS appearence, i will bet all in CM12s. At first looks, it's ugly IMO.

Can't really tell that much from the pics to be honest. Im guessing you could probably use nova and an icon pack if things dont look that nice. Plus in the pics it looks like the hardware buttons are being used, would like to see the dock and nav buttons. Will probably being going with the one in the video below anyway this, guessing that this is CM12S as it looks a lot more like stock 5.0.

Google picking up a feature from EMUI in upcoming Nougat 7.1 release

Google plans to introduce a new gesture to open the notification shade using the fingerprint in Android 7.1 release
You’ll be able to swipe down your finger on the fingerprint sensor to pull down the notification shade, and swipe up to close it.
Devices like those made by Huawei or its brand Honor has this feature implemented already. But it's interesting that Google will be picking it up as a Nougat feature.
In the animation, we can see that it works. Just swipe down on the scanner, and your notification tray will descend.

I dont have Honor 8. I use it in my 5X.
I dont see any setting to enable that in my 5X.
Swiping up, down, left and right works well with any fingerprint and is not restricted to the registered fingerprint.
Annoying feature which makes me swipe it down by mistake when touching the sensor. Feature off at all times.
Wow. I hope to see this in AOSP based ROMs soon.

According to someone in the Sprint thread its for Google Maps/Navigation stability and fixes.
That it does. It has to do with navigation and swipe. Nothing big.

It's a really big security patch for one of the largest Android vulnerabilities too. I'm glad it enhances swipe, the samsung keyboard is particularly inaccurate on this phone.
Does NOT patch BlueBorne Vulnerability!!!!
Installed the update this morning. It does NOT eliminate the BlueBorne vulnerability, unless Armis' scanner is broken ...
EDIT: Contacted Armis and received the following in response:
Armis Security said:
We have reviewed this. It appears that Verizon pushed a critical update that addresses BlueBorne. However, in our review they did not change the security patch level of this build to September 1, 2017. The Security Patch Level (SPL) in build NMF26X.N950USQU1AQI5 shows a date of August 1, 2017.
We have updated our device scan and review to account for this, and it will be available on the Google Play store shortly.
Thank you for reaching out us on this issue.

EDIT #2: An updated version of the BlueBorne Scanner from Armis is available on Google Play. I've installed it, but unfortunately it still indicates that VZW devices are vulnerable.
UPDATE: Armis' app has been updated to version 1.04, which correctly identifies VZW Note 8s as having been patched to eliminate the vulnerability.
It changed my 4GLTE icon so that it is constantly highlighted even on Wi-Fi. I don't think that was present before unless I'm mistaken
Just got it yesterday and also turned it onto this this morning. The OTA's on my S7 Active over on AT&T completely and eventually thrashed my phone and was eventually unusable. So I'm waiting.

Honor beta testers recruitment for Nougat and Above- official form India only

Hi Folks,
Sharing the good news about the honor beta testers recruitment. Got this Google form for the same through trusted channels and is prepared by our fellow member Abhishek @amulbaby on XDA. A big thanks to him in putting his efforts in preparing this form.
Did someone just say EMUI 6.0 :fingers-crossed:

Form includes below devices so wish we get for all of them, at least future Nougat bug fix updates and security updates if not Oreo.
Honor 5C
Honor 6X
Honor 8
Honor 8 Lite
Honor 8 Smart
Honor 8 Pro

Even though limited to India but as India variant may get the update, we can wish others will get as well.
So others can fill as well, it wont harm anything
rip india only.... but atleast they will port it then to other variants also 5c is in list so it will most likely get it right? also lastest 5c update kinda make apps unstable, randomly just shuts down like once in a week.... not big issue but if you do banking and stuff its kinda annoying....

Now that Samsung has officially announced the release of the 3.1 update for the Note 20 series (Sammobile), let's have a competition for who can guess most accurately when the first region of our N9860s will get it.

If only gestures worked perfectly, right now it's a quick flashing every time you swipe to go home when using Google gestures.
You don't get the flashing if you wait around 1-2 second before touching the screen after swiping home.
I don't know, I don't use gestures.

Yep, stuck at verifying phone number but I remember I had the same problem on 3.0 and then it fixed by itself later..
Let's see if same thing will happen. I got snapdragon.
Gotta say the phone feels much smoother again. There were always some hick ups with 3.0 for me even after factory reset.
Now it feels just like 2.5 where everything is smooth and this is without factory reset. I would recommend everyone to update.

After many days trying to verify the number, rcs works for me now.
It's the same when I updated to 3.0, took few weeks or something and then it just magically activated and works.
