S7390L slowly corrupted itself to death, need to recover files inside internal memory - Samsung Galaxy Fresh/Trend Questions & Answers

My phone was slowly corrupting some files inside the external sd card, but I thought it might have been because I had named a file with a $ sign and it had some problems when I plugged the usb.
After I had taken the file out and deleted the corrupted files (Some of my game saves died too :crying, I thought it was going to be okay, but the corruption did go on after some time.
One day, when I was using the phone, suddenly, I got a white line accross the screen and the phone rebooted, then every time it turned on, it worked for 1~3 seconds then, again, white line and reboot.
Tried to fix it in various ways, turning off wi-fi, changing the brightness and things like that in the moment before it rebooted, but I couldn't make it work.
After some tries/time, it gave me an error saying it needed to be wiped and reseted, but I really need some files inside of it, so I didn't wipe it, and now it just stops at the samsung logo.
I can get it into recovery mode or that "custom rom" screen, by using the volume buttons when booting up, and I could even get it to show in adb when in recovery mode, but I can't mount the sd card with it (It always tells me I can't do it, something about privileges, I think).
I just wanted to get some files from the internal memory, after that, I think I'll be flashing it with CyanogenMod so it'll be a Android 4.4
But, for now, what can I do to recover those files?
Thanks in advance
Edit: Recovery menu says:
--init-recovery...
E: failed to mount /data (invalid argument)
can't mount /data (invalid argument)
Then it tries to apply "multi-csc" and after it "successfully applies" it, then it shows the "failed to moun /data" error again

Well the easiest way would be to flash TWRP recovery and use the file manager to copy the files that you need to your mem card... if u couldn't access the internal memory just mount it manually either from the option "mount sdcard" or use the a shell command.. I believe there is a terminal emulator there

Cannot Get Phone To Start Anymore

So today i rooted my phone installed JF1.41, i partitioned my sd card IN MY G1, since i have a mac and for some reason it wont partition the card right. Then i did the apps2sd deal... Then i wanted to use a theme, well that screwed everything, and it wouldnt get back to normal or even start again. So completely formatted my card, which now has NO PARTITIONS(i guess just 1), and i think the phone is trying to read files on a partition that dont exist now, and NOTHING is working. Anyone on here that can help? I am rather smart with this stuff, but really am going to need someone to help me. I need my phone tomorrow.
Thanks.
How did you reformat your sdcard? Did you check in parted to see that you in fact only had 1 partition again? I suggest you flash a new updated ROM like Cyanogen 4.2.5. That has apps2sd script built into the rom. It will do it automatically so you don't have to mess with all that.
ok ill try it right now and see
I know FOR SURE i dont have a 2nd partition cuz i formatted it with only 1

you're going to need a second partition for apps2sd to work. I suggest you do that first before you flash a rom, or else you will just have to end up reflashing.
Ok Downloaded Cyanogen4.2.5
This is the problem i keep having when i try to apply the update it say
Installing from sdcard...
Finding update package...
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)
(Invalid argument)
E:Can't mount SDCARD:update.zip
Installation aborted.
So i think it has to do with the fact it wants to read /dev/block...etc from the partition of the sdcard that is now non existent
problem is i have a mac and cant properly fromat the 2nd partition (ext2)
unless you know of a way
the way i first did it was using some code i got off of here to have the phone do it itself... now that i cant start the phone i cant do the partition
what recovery do you have? I suggest you put this one on your phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=566669
It partitions your sd card for you.
Also for Cyanogen, you need to flash the htc OTA update one, then flash his update for those to work.
ok...
so i found some plugins for the new Snow Leopard OS for mac called MacFuse 2.0 along with its counterpart fuse-ext2 and i partitioned my card
you might want to upgrade to ext3. it's faster than ext2 and runs smoother
just tried to flash the recovery found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=566669
with no avail and tried to start the phone(power+camera) and said no image
heres what it said for the recovery
/ # mount -a
mount: mounting /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 on /sdcard failed: Invalid argument
mount: mounting /system/modules/modules.cramfs on / system/modules failed: No such file or directory
mount: mounting /system/xbin.cramfs on /system/xbin failed: No such file or directory
I mean, what i want to know is how to build the file format back on my sd card so itll work, or build it so it will look on my actual phone... People put up the code to have it switch where it reads things from, there MUST be a way to switch it back manually as well
Use fastboot and write the recovery image
here's a link to fastboot
http://developer.htc.com/adp.html
then when thats running plug in your G1 and turn on holding Power and camera when the screen turns on you might have to press back to enable FB but once its enabled type in terminal
Code:
cd *where ever your recovery image is*
fastboot flash recovery *recoveryname*.img
reboot
can someone hook up a quick step by step on how to hook my phone up fastbooted? I have a mac and i can get the phone to say fastboot, but im lost after that... If you want to reroute me to a different thread, please verify that it REALLY has the info before posting it.
i have been trying to find the name of the device and im getting
/dev/tty.Bluetooth-Modem as the device name, but a Permission Denied thing... now i cant just go click something in the phone menus, since i cant get the phone to start, so is there a way to get permissions through the Terminal application?
that error you get when you type mount -a is normal continue as instructed:
flash_image recovery /(whatever your recovery image is called)
if you have adb you could try parted /dev/block/mmcblk0 and type print to see your parttitions.
so i can get it to say it flashes the recovery, but still not starting
so when i try to do any updates it says SDCARD wont mount
any input?
Looks like im going to go for a broken record, until SOMEONE can help me figure my phone out... I need to get it running, and i know someone can figure it out

Cant mount internal/external sd vibrant

I cant mount the internal or external sd card on my samsung vibrant
Earlier i transfered music to my phone and it was working
Im running Axura 2.0.6 with the JK6 modem.
I cant ODIN since my computer wont recognize it.
When plugging in USB it simply makes a sound but has no notification.
Tried to do a system wipe on the phone and when rebooting it says denied.
Under phone storage it states Format SD CARD for internal but nothing else.
It does not say i can unmount it.
Ive tried the sdcard fix applicable via CMW but it fails to reboot into recovery mode
and when it does it says installation aborted.
I have renamed the sd fix to update.zip
attempted to flash other roms via cwm but im just stuck.
and still unable to mount.
any help?
EDIT: Cant open /cache/update.zip (bad)
then i try again and it says
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)
Device or Resource Busy

Sounds like you had a lagfix that wasn't disabled before you tried flashing. I would ODIN back to stock. ODIN doesnt recognize your phone in download mode? If not, then you re most likely SOL or need a JIG to get it working. BTW, this def didnt need its own post, it could have EASILY been added to the other "cant mount" posts
If its the normal 2.2 mounting issue. Take a gander at this.

ZTE blade in bootloop and clockworkmod seems broken

I recently flashed my device with a CM7.2 rom which seem to have gone wrong, as it is stuck in a bootloop. I can get into clockwork recovery with volume down, but it can't access the sdcard, it gives me "Error mounting /sdcard!".
I tried partitioning the sdcard which seems to work fine (ends with Done!), but formatting gives "Error mounting sdcard", "skipping format".
Trying to use mount USB storage gives the error "E:Unable to write to ums linfile (No such file or directory).
I'm having a hard time figuring out how to recover from this mess, as the device dosen't show in adb devices when I boot it with volume up and the sdcard dosent seem to be mountable.
Any suggestions?
In cwm, go to advanced : mounts and storage : mount /sdcard

Can't access anything in my N7

Hi all, I tried searching through the forums and I wasn't able to find a solution and was hoping you could help me out.
I recently tried flashing a custom rom and because it was giving me problems, I decided to go back and recover from my back up.
But everytime I tried, it tells me that "Couldn't open directory. No files found."
I found this to be odd, so I rebooted back in the rom and tried to see if I could go through the N7 to put a new .zip file to flash.
When I go into Nexus 7 in My Computer, it just shows up blank.
I'm guessing there is something going on that messed up my ability to access the device storage.
If I go into mounts and storage in CWM, my /sdcard and /system are not mounted.
So I tried mounting both. /system mounts up just find, but /sdcard doesn't.
I'm not sure if this is significant, but in CWM, if I go to "install zip from sd card" -> "choose zip from sdcard" it doesn't show up what it used to which was just all the folders and such in my N7.
It now shows, 0 /, clockworkmod/, legacy/ and obb/...
I also tried to reinstall all drivers on my computer in case that was what was causing an issue. But it didn't fix the problem.
Does anyone have a solution?
The device itself seems to be recognized by my computer..
Would I be able to use the Nexus 7 tool kit to flash back to stock to unroot again?
Thank you in advance!
I had a similar problem, but it was a while ago. Can't quite remember but I think uninstalling the drivers, unplugging the device, turning off usb-debugging and then plugging it back in fixed it. YMMV.
Hope it helps.

I believe that is significant. With 4.2.x, the "SD card" mount is now supposed to happen at
/data/media/0
instead of
/data/media
I use TWRP (not CWM) but I too experienced a "missing backup" issue, and then later found it at
/data/media/TWRP
rather than
/data/media/0/TWRP
If I were you I would poke around using a root file explorer and see if you have backup data in either
/data/media/clockworkmod or
/data/media/0/clockworkmod (or even)
/data/media/0/0/.../0/clockworkmod
then (a) use a recovery which can succeed at "mount /sdcard", and (b) move the clockworkmod folder using your (root-aware) file manager so it is within the /sdcard mount point of the recovery.
There has been some recent flux in the past few months with buggy behaviors in custom recoveries, including that 0/0/0.../0 phenomenon; it might be time for you to upgrade your current recovery to a newer version.
usually a mount failure happens for only one of two reasons:
- the mount point doesn't exist, or
- the file sysem is corrupted.
Seems improbable that it could be the 2nd of those issues - the "/sdcard" mount point is a little bit odd - it is sort of like a "hard link" or loopback mount with some behaviors that mask the underlying (true) file ownership information. If the underlying /data (ext4) filesystem was corrupted, then /data itself would also not be mounting. That would certainly wedg your ROM boot though, and it sounds as if your ROM is operating adequately.
Note that the possibility does exist that you simply erased or formatted your entire /data partition at one point or another and those backups actually got erased.
good luck

Can't flash custom rom

So, my mom's P8 lite was running low so i offered to "make it faster" I succeeded in unlocking the bootloader and flashing SuperSU at first. Now the next issue at hand was thus a custom rom. I've settled on https://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/development/rom-t3649258
In accordance with instructions i flashed the b895. Everything went fine until the last possible second
twrp "errored" with something like error [] errno. That's it. I rebooted and everything seemed fine. However in about the phone is now listed as hi6210sft and initially did at first too in windows explorer. I enabled developer options and usb debugging and suddenly windows was seeing it as an ALE-L21 again about phone still lists ALE-B895.
I can copy files over to internal storage "fine" but that's where everything stops. When i reboot to twrp the rom recommended one https://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/orig-development/twrp-t3583180 it fails to mount /data
When i try the twrp sideload way i get this (Red: red line of text, wht: white line of text)
Red: Failed to mount '/data' (invalid argument)
Red: Unable to recreate /data/media folder
Wht: ..Done
Red: Unable to mount /storage
Red: Failed to mount '/data' (invalid argument)
Wht: Full SELinux support is present.
Red: Unable to mount /data/media/TWRP/.twrps
When i go to mount i cant mount data, when i go to wipe > advanded internal storage is shown as 0 size. When i go to Wipe > advanced > Change file system to FAT that works and storage sizes are now reported (in MB), but i still can't see anything on the internal storage. Can't install anything as that damn basic EMUI doesn't even have a file manager.
Right now i'm at a catch 22 as with Huawei removing all downloads, i can't even download the stock firmware
This phone is an "old" P8 Lite, ALE-L21 european (belgian) model.
Right now the status is as follows
* fastboot & adb work
* phone boots
* twrp installed but can't mount any storage, thus can't do a damn thing
Any assistance is welcome.
I'm used to working with Nexus devices so i'm unused to all these problems

Format data in twrp
Ah that seems to have worked. Apparantly wipe data is different from format. Learned something new. after formatting i was able to adb push the custom rom and install via twrp. Files place on internal storage are now properly seen by TWRP. Device is up and running. Many thanks
Never too old to learn something new
Oh anyone know where i can grab the latest stock firmware for the ALE-L21 Eu model "just in case"?
