redmi 2 fast charging, is it safe? - Xiaomi Redmi 2 Questions & Answers

i have this feature on my phone's kernel atm, is it actually safe? because Redmi 2 itself doesn't support fast charging by default will it cause our battery to overheat? or even explode (lol)

Redmi 2 supports quick charge 2.0, however the charger sent by xiaomi does not have this technology. And yes, that support in the kernel is secure.

The Redmi 2 battery only accepts 5V/1.0A, so QC 2.0 isn't supported by hardware, altought the SD410 supports it.

Yes, but using a quick charge charger makes the battery charge 1A / h constant, which makes the charging much faster than using the charger sent by xiaomi

Do any Redmi 3S versions support quick charge 3.0 ?

Unlike redmi 3 , 3S models are powered by a SOC that supports quick charge 3.0 but there is no mention of it in the phone specs
Yes, it unofficially supports QC 3.0
unofficially? It seems strange that they wouldn't advertise it but in any case ... are you saying that with the appropriate charger this device will charge fully within the hour? Have you tried it yourself?
I dont think it supports qc 3.0 cause if it had supported it xiaomi would have said that and its price would have been higher as hugo stated in redmi note 3 launch event that they have to pay some extra money to qualcomm to activate qc 3.0 and that they did not put qc 3.0 to keep the device cost low so in my opinion they did the same with redmi 3s to keep its price low they did not put qc 3.0. Instead there maybe qc 1.0 or 2.0
If the SoC supports QC 3.0, it doesn't directly mean the device will support it. It's like saying, SoC supports 21MP camera, so device must have it. lol.
BTW, if 3s had supported QC 3.0, then Xiaomi would have marketed it nicely. You know, how good they're at marketing.
Really missing QC3. It would have made charging time much lesser.
I understood that it would have it and ordered power bank and charger that supports QC3. They charge it approx. 40%/hour, and Ampere shows it taking 2A/5V. Does this mean it supports it? I don't know
One thing also is that my charging cables aren't high quality so they might be restricting it.

Thats not Qc 3.0 its Qc 1.0 which is basically very slow.so dont get your hopes up.redmi 3s and redmi 3 and redmi note 3 all supports Qc 1.0 only

I don't know if I would call that very slow but yeah I'm a bit disappointed. Maybe in the future with custom kernels or something.

Yes with custom kernel we can achieve charging speed as fast as that of Qc 2.0 but not 3.0 . But still we need a good developer for that.hope we get one.
No.. Doesn't support quick charge officially
According to this video it charges in ~2 hours 30 minutes with a quick charge 3.0 enabled charger vs ~3 hours with the included 5V 2A charger.
https://youtu.be/5eASPZ70Sws
Looks like it already support at 6least QC2 standard as volatge upto 9v are achiEved by qc 3 charger .
Though soc support qc3 but I think we need a custom keral to support qc3
With qc 2 or 3 charger a depreciation of half hour charging time is achieved already as shown in video link above. With custom kernal another half hour with qc3 charger will not be difficult
I think this device has great future as developer favorite device
Let XiAomi release it's sources and unlocked for boot loader

Xiaomi does not want anyone to unlock its bootloader. They made it over complicated.I don't think they will release unlocked bootloader ROM even though device specs are good.

?? How complicate it is ? And why everyone (who I know including me) has it? ) how difficult is to fill a form and wait 3 4 days for the approval?

The phone just release maybe someone in XDA will make a good kernel in the near future.

so you have filled the form and you got the sms with the "ok" for unlock ?
which rom do you have ?
you have official rom or unofficial ? (if you have unofficial just don't ask , of course you can't unlock with this rom)
if you have official , i think (well i don't remember exactly) is that you must (or is just better) switch to dev rom for the unlock , not stable
No. Xiaomi maybe cost down something.
The reason they're not advertising QC3.0 support is they'd have to buy the license to do so. And since this is a budget series of phones, they have to cut the expenses as much as they can. I tested it with a QC2.0 charger, and the phone charged at 9V, don't remember the amperage, though. So it supports at least QC2.0.

Quick Charge 2.0 by Qualccom

Our snapdragon 410 supports quick charge 2.0, is some hardware limitation in our device that dosn't allow to charge at a higher speed? the battery needs to be compatible? etc

Our battery only receives 5V/1A.
You need a 1.5 Ampere Quick Charge enabled charger to use that feature.
Xiaomi ships two kinds of chargers with the Redmi 2 ( based on region) : one is a 1.5A QC2. 0 charger and one is a 1.0A QC charger.
If you're looking to buy one, I'd recommend Microsoft Fast Charger
It can be enabled through kernel modifications.
As Redmi Note 3 has got the feature through Franco kernel.

Fast charging on custom ROM?

Fast charging has been most controversial topic for our Mi A1 device.
Is it possible to enable fast charging on custom ROM.?
I have read somewhere that our SoC supports Fast charging

It was a bug, MiA1 do not supports Quick Charge.
Yes I should think fast charging would be available on custom ROMs. We saw on phones like Redmi note 3 it was also enabled. Basically Xiaomi phones have all capabilities to fast charge, however the speculation is Xiaomi does not pay Qualcomm the license fees so they can't officially support it.

Quick Charge Oreo Update

Hello, i have an aukey usb quick charge 3 charger and now that i have a new xiaomi mi a1 i bought a nillkin usb type c 3.0 quick charge cable.
Even tho i have a charger and a data cable compatible with quick charge, when i charge it says "charging", not fast charging, i don't even sense a notisable decrease of charging time.
So i am doing somethong wrong? It is suppose that with oreo update quick charge is aviable on the mi a1.
tired reply , please search.
The 'fast charging' message was a bug. Congrats. U just waste money
Sad to break it to you, but the phone doesn't support Quick Charge 3.0
Who except pajeet analphabete on Indian blog said it was supposed to get QC?
I've read that one of the Oreo beta builds had quick charging enabled by mistake and Xiaomi removed it later, this is when/where rumors started. No idea if that's true though..
There is a quite big difference between "fast charge" and "quick charge" (by qualcomm). Quick Charge will not be enabled on those phones as qualcomm wants money for each device that uses it. However in oreo we have "fast charge" enabled.... also to have quick charge you'll need charger that has the qualcomm chip in it... and for the fast charge again you'll need charger that supports fast charge(basically that it is more powerful - 34W and up).
And remember it is android one device so it is as close to the aosp as possible and many of the settings are up to google to change (like the cam api 2)
I don't get the fuss around this "fast" charge "enabled" thingy. I'm using a nexus 5x charger since day 0 (back when only displayed "charging") because i've bought it as a replacement for my nexus 5x.
So, the output of the 5x charger has 3A . Now pay attention, the A1 (at least mine and i don't think i got a special edition) was charging with 2A out of the box (nougat) and also after oreo update, period.
Mi a1 does have sd625 which supports fast charging but xiaomi hasnt enabled it cause enabling that will make xiaomi pay some loyalty to snapdragon. So they didn't enable it. NO FAST CHARGING ON MI A1
This thread reminds me of countles indian videos trying to prove redmi phones support fast charging by comparing charging speeds between stock 1A chargers an qc2/3 ones. Good stuff
With custom roms and root, could you re-enable it? Yes.

Redmi note 5 has the icon of fast charging with micro usb, but Mi A1 with usb C does not, lol. My phone Mi A1 charges fully within 1 hour from 1%(would say... 40min) with an aukey QC 3.0 and a blitzwolf amp usb cable.

Don't worry about people bragging ie lying about how their phones charge up faster with quick charge. Or some sort of forced charging is going on which isn't good for the lifespan of the battery. Samsung allows users to turn off fast charging in the settings to reduce excessive heat which says something about fast charging.
So you guys are saying it doesn't support Quick Charge™. But I just downloaded CPU-Z for fun and it read the fact that the MI A1 - My unit at least runs Snapdragon 626 as opposed to what GSMArena says (625) and according to this article it is supposed to support it. I don't have a fast enough charger - Never thought I'd need one since the phone supposedly doesn't support fast charging, but if it runs 626 it might. If I can edit this post I'll add a screenshot from the phone in a moment.
Can't seem to add the screen shot, so here's the link to it:

yes. I'm using a motorola turbo power charger and a magisk module 'force fast charge'. getting ~2000mA.
The phone has the available hardware for fast charging but xiaomi disabled it, it should be coming soon in oreo or pie

I tried that module, but don't see any difference. Plus, I don't see the force fast charge folder in solid explorer anywhere!

I just read on some other forms that the mean one supports fast charging qc3 charger I bought a bunch of chargers. does anyone know will queue c3 chargers work on all types of phones and devices even if they don't have any Qualcomm chip in them will they still charge at your 1 amp or 2 amp speed?? and that's question does anybody know what happened to the license agreement between called come and show me about working out the deal to get the Alt-X low-latency and the Ap-X codec license agreement???

Quick charger 3.0

Hello,
Anyone know if Redmi 4 Pro have quick charge? I buy a quick charger 3.0
Thanks
My moms Redmi 4 Prime does benefit from using a quickcharger compared to the one in the box. Don't know if it is full QC 2.0 (because that's the most the SD625 supports) speed though. It's btw one from the brand Blitzwolf that she has, so officially licensed by Qualcomm.
I dont know abt QC2.0 but w/ std 2.0A charger mine can charge 15-95% in 2hrs. I don't recommend QC because they heat up yr batteries, heat is no 1 enemy of any battery.
