Hey everyone,
I am currently using Dirty Unicorns ROM on my Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 WiFi (SM-T530) which comes with a modded version of Nova Launcher ...
I would like to update/replace it with up-to-date official Version ... since it's a built-in system-app I can't just use Nova's in-app update feature, nor can I just install the Play Store version on top ...
Maybe someone can point me to a flashable zip-file, which should solve my problems updating or - if someone knows a definite solution - fill me in with details on how to proceed.

I managed to get my hands on those flashable NovaUninstall.zip & NovaUpdate.zip files which did actually uninstall the pre-installed modded Nova Launcher and installed an official version using CWRP. The installed version was totally out-dated but I could easily use it's in-app update feature.
Unfortunately the now installed latest version is refusing to work ... killed immediately upon being started ... so what now? The out-dated version contained in NovaUpdate.zip at least worked - so I guess I'm gonna backtrack older versions until one - hopefully not too old one - will work. We'll see ...
Just in case someone is experiencing similar problems I'll update this thread once I found out something new - plus: I'll attach both flashable zip-files to this post.

So ... here we go:
Tesla offers Nova Launcher Classic (v3.3) for downloading which seems to be working fine.
Quick Guide for updating Dirty Unicorns integrated Nova Launcher (to at least v3.3):
1. Download attached DU_NovaClassic-Update.zip
2. a) Boot to Recovery Mode (tested with CWRP)
b) flash DU_NovaClassic-Update.zip (automatically removes existing versions)
c) Clear Cache & Dalvik
3. Reboot the system
That's it … everything should be fine now and your DU running Nova Launcher Classic v3.3.
If you're happening to experience any problems message me and I'll try to figure out a solution.

PS/Update: I just noticed that Nova Launcher updated itself to the latest version and is running smooth and flawless ... nice!
An update to the H2OS out after a long time. The alternative ROM for the OnePlus devices is now updated to the version 3.0. The Hydrogen OS is mostly designed for the Chinese variants of the Oneplus devices. However, the H2OS 3.0 can also be installed on a regular or international variant of the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T. The ROM brings many new features.
As the Hydrogen OS is a firmware for the Chinese variant, it doesn’t come with the Google Apps pre-installed. You will need to install it separately. Fortunately, we already have a Google play store installed APK which can easily install the Google Play Services onto your Android device.

Will all the US bands be enabled with Hydrogen OS?
Hi, can anyone using a US OnePlus 3T confirm whether the US version of OnePlus 3T with Hydrogen OS will have the exact same bands enabled as the US version using Oxygen OS? I want to be as Google-free as possible and starting with a manufacturer-supported Google-free ROM like H2OS sounds like a good way to go.
I'm open to other ways to accomplish this but simpler is better for me. Finally moving away from Windows Phone, and yes I know, why would you want Android if you don't want Google? Answer, pathetically trying to cling to ownership of my personal data and can't afford the next best OEM privacy option, the iPhone (which isn't a great privacy option either). Thx!

I've been down this path too many times. It's doable but not easy. First, scrap H2OS since Playstore is preinstalled. I'd go with either a lineage based Rom or Freedom OS (OOS with the option to leave all google and OP Apps out on Installation). Just don't flash Gapps after the Rom.
But thats really the easy part. The hard part is the setup. First, you'd need to sideload at least a browser. Get the browser apk of your choice from a reputable source (xda labs is great. It even manages Updates for you). Depending on the apps you need, you'll need some playstore alternative. Some things can be had through xda-labs. If Open Source is your thing, f-droid is great too. Just don't download apk's from somewhere on the web. Your privacy might be more at risk than with google on it.
Also, get a vcard backup of your contacts (or run your own carddav server). Finally, some apps simply won't run without google framework (that's why it's back on my phone). For example "Bring", a shopping list, won't run without google framework. Don't ask me why. But i need that app. Just be prepared for some major inconveniences, and having to find workarounds... :good:

I was under the impression the main difference between H2OS and OOS was H2OS's removal of all Google specific stuff to meet China's Google restrictions. I assumed that included Playstore. Are you sure it's in there? I only ask because I'd rather start with a OnePlus supported ROM if I can but if that's not the case I'll take the leap and go with one of the ROMs you suggest. Can you recommend a lineage-based ROM I can start with? And, do you have an opinion on microG as a Play framework replacement? It seems like a good idea in theory but the way it's implemented gives me some security concerns.

OP stated that PlayStore APK is preinstalled. I have not tried h2os, so can't say for sure. You could give it a try. And with root you can always uninstall system apps.
I never tried microg myself. For me it was always no g at all or the pico Gapps package.
As a lineage based ROM, on my note 4 resurrection remix was great. On the 3t I'm on stock oos, so not sure.
Play store or anything Google is not installed on H2OS
i am using it currently tried to go without play store and other apps for one day but couldn't deal with all the Chinese apps so, installed OOS although everything could have been installed on H2OS also.

Hello, I had a Samsung A5 (SM-A5108) with network problem so I flashed it with a Chinese file and now I have many apps in Chinese and no playstore and android 6.0, can anyone help me out? I can't find file in other language

I suspect you don't have Gapps at all and have chinese version of play store and so on...
The only one solution is to find on chinese forums a ROM version for your model containing GApps and all 'occidental' stuff.
Isn't A5108 the China version of A5 2016?
Try searching for GApps 一键安装 which will install GApps on most ROMs. IIRC it requires root tho. You can also try searching for solutions at GalaxyclubCN
Edit : just saw your other post. Google Play cannot be installed using apk on file explorer. It will not open. You will need to flash the gaaps package via custom recovery like twrp. The 一键安装 basically does the same thing. It's just an app
Some days ago the meizu m2 of my brother started having problems with the google apps not working any more (completely white screen in Play store and nothing working well). For this reason I decided to unlock its bootloader and install Lineage OS but after flashing Open Gapps I noticed that the google apps keep crashing all the time.
Looking around these forums I noticed that there are a lot of people with the same problem and for this reason I wanted to open this thread to collect all the discussions on the problem and to track any possible news about the problem itself and possible solutions if found.
I think that the cause of the problem may be Google discontinuing support to Gapps on phones not certified (I read some news on this topic some months ago).
I would like to know if someone has already found a solution for the problem to make the Phone usable again with the original Flyme OS or also a custom rom.

[UPDATE] As a first solution for now I installed an old version of the gapps (You can find all the open gapps by date on the tags of the open gapps repository on github i.e: https://github.com/opengapps/arm64/tags?after=20180622) like suggested by someone on other threads. It seems to work for now because just after installation I deactivated the play store from the system settings so that google play services cannot be updated. I use yalp store (available on f-droid) to install apps from the play store
hello , i have a same problem,
this problem is with OpenGAPPS and MindTheGapps with 4 testing roms (Lineage, Viper, CrDroidAndroid, Resurrection_Remix),
in original Flyme OS is same problem.
I've tried Lineage 14, Resurrection Remix, Viper OS, Lineage 12, MIUI and everywhere Google Play Services crashes. As "whole m2 development is dead now" there is no hope that this will be solved.
At the end I installed AOSP 8.1 and it all working fine.:fingers-crossed:
Let me check it and find a solution for this. I will remind you guys what we can do to use it without issues if i found some. M2 is a secondary phone for me now. So let me try.

Uninstall the update (google & google play services), and turn off "auto update" on play store. Hopefully it can help.

Could you specify exactly which open gapps version you used (5.0-9.0?, nano/pico?)
And did you install open gapps on the Lineage OS you already had flashed on or onto stock ROM?

I installed OpenGapps Micro (of the 1st of August 2018) on Lineage OS
Solution:
1. Install 4.5.4I firmware
2. Root your device
3. Unlock bootloader
4. Install twrp 3.2.1
5. Flash AOSP 8.1 Rom
6. Flash arm64 8.1 micro gapps

Hey, I have a few questions regarding this.
Does FlymeOS 6.2.0.0G (or 6.3.0.0A for that matter) not work at all with open gapps?
Is there a point to install that instead of AOSP 8.1?
I still use FlymeOS stock 4.5.4l and I don't know why it would be more beneficial to use AOSP instead of a recent version of stock FlymeOS.
Does AOSP 8.1 have a lot of bugs?
I checked its forum page, it seems quite a lot of things are broken.
The ones that mostly concern me are the battery problems (though I have battery issues with the stock 4.5.4l FW currently as well), bad headphone sound quality, no navbar and sensor issues. Can you confirm that those are still present or has been fixed since?

Ok here is the only solution for google play services in flyme.
from security app go to data then network management and uncheck play service from wlan and cellular.....play service cant update now.....to run play store and play games and other google apps, follow the same process and check it.....then open your desired app very quickly and uncheck the play service again through recent screen.....dont leave it checked more than a minute or it will update automatically.....

Black Magic 5g has been reduced to a package that only contains 1.9GB. Video recording works now, you'll notice it's designed a bit different - some good stuff in the Tools folder hiding away that devs will use. Some factory Nubia apps that do a great job managing memory are present as well, find duplicate files, scan for viruses, etc. Accelerate is one of them, it will clear the memory. Everything else is WIPED, completely debloated and uninstalled, and replaced with a Google app. Even the Clock is from Google. If it could not be deinstalled, Package Disabler blocks the app. No Nubia bloat.remains. I only left nubia.bbs as it carries the latest releases in Chinese first - Google Translate is installed, you will be able to read it, no matter the language. If an app does not let you Translate directly, you have Google Lens which can be accessed in Google Photos. A square icon will highlight text, then you can select More or .. and choose Translate. It will generate a translated message for you from the screen shot. Lens also has this feature just pointing at text with the camera. Lit Photo picture compressor is included so you can trim down pictures you take small enough for emails; a casting app Web Video Cast works outside of China has been added to stream any video from your phone over WiFi to a TV or monitor. Tested it out on my Samsung Smart TV, and it worked great. You just select the connected device on your Wifi, download an app to that device you want to stream to, and type a website URL to stream from to your TV or PC in Web Video Cast. YouTube Vanced is also installed with MicroG so you can use your Google account and not have any ads at all, still watching your favorite items or subjects from earlier. VLC video player is included which can handle many video formats. 1Weather is a favorite app of mine and it shows live weather forecasts for the week through a widget on the home page. Also, there is a Chrome search bar with a Google Assistant icon on the right, Google Feed icon left side. Google Maps. APK Mirror is installed and the SAI Split Archive Installer app. ZipArchiver. Magisk Manager is installed with several Magisk modules, one for Migrate Backup. Swift Backup app also. Root browser. TurboEdit can edit root files. SmartPack Kernel Manager includes a flasher (TWRP flash inside OS). Device Info app is included which gives all specs. An HD screen recorder and mic recorder are included. Wait until tomorrow and it will be fine(I am doing the same) (or at least give the name of the one you want to download, but I don't have the fiber so I can't uppload anything)

Black Magic 5g has been reduced to a package that only contains 1.9GB. Video recording works now, you'll notice it's designed a bit different - some good stuff in the Tools folder hiding away that devs will use. Some factory Nubia apps that do a great job managing memory are present as well, find duplicate files, scan for viruses, etc. Accelerate is one of them, it will clear the memory. Everything else is WIPED, completely debloated and uninstalled, and replaced with a Google app. Even the Clock is from Google. If it could not be deinstalled, Package Disabler blocks the app. No Nubia bloat.remains. I only left nubia.bbs as it carries the latest releases in Chinese first - Google Translate is installed, you will be able to read it, no matter the language. If an app does not let you Translate directly, you have Google Lens which can be accessed in Google Photos. A square icon will highlight text, then you can select More or .. and choose Translate. It will generate a translated message for you from the screen shot. Lens also has this feature just pointing at text with the camera. Lit Photo picture compressor is included so you can trim down pictures you take small enough for emails; a casting app Web Video Cast works outside of China has been added to stream any video from your phone over WiFi to a TV or monitor. Tested it out on my Samsung Smart TV, and it worked great. You just select the connected device on your Wifi, download an app to that device you want to stream to, and type a website URL to stream from to your TV or PC in Web Video Cast.
