Screen glass pushed out of body - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As the title say. The glue on my LG G2 screen has peeled of the body. Any way to glue it back or fix it any other way?

A quick google search shows the best option. https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View...dhesive+or+glue+can+I+use+for+the+lcd+&+glass

Actually it is battery with back cover pushing the screen out. Probably too thick new battery inside that phone. Is there any point gluying it back then?

I really don't know. Go to iFixit and look how they dissasemble the G2. Maybe there's a trick. Also they have a repair-forum.

that happend to my device too . it was my new battery . It was a third party battery

Nope, after i tested something i saw that it dont made a difference if i take original or third party . On both batterys the diplay getting pressed out. I tryed glue stripes for phones bjt dont work . So i have my phone without back cover into a secure case

Did you disassemble the glass of digitizer to use these stripes? I ordered a kit on eBay; an UV lamp, LOCA glue and some hypodermic syringe to try put a little bit of glue under the glass. Maybe it gonna work that way. Which battery you talking about?

jep, i heated the digitizer and with a little line i cutted it off . After that i layed the glue stripes on the screen end sites and put it back into frame .
thats the battery :

Dude, this is the same battery...

Hi again! Thank you for helping so far.
I'd like to disassemble original glass with a heater and put some new LOCA glue. Do I need to clean glass/lcd after disassembling it? I mean old glue must be completely off, huh?
I bought LOCA glue and a UV lamp from eBay. Is that lamp any good ? I just got it but seen some movie about applying LOCA glue and they got much bigger and probably much better UV lamp than mine and wondering if mine will be fine though?

Tried to do it yesterday but failed. I think the glass was still attached to the LCD and it was some glue holding it to the frame. Anyway, screen is partially broken now and I'm wondering if I should just buy a new one and replace it or just go for OnePlus 3T or 5.

What's the GAP problem?
How does it explain the gap problem?
Not for me, for people that don't get it, I know, obviously...
Fantastic mate, was just about to do this myself. Could you post a brief guide? How easy is it to get to the screen?

Or a Torx driver to just put it back together.
so if i'm interpreting the picture right, the gap which quite alot of us are seeing, is irrelevant really as any dust ingress can't actually get onto the screen due to the seal which the foam forms on the outer case...?
I guess that the screen gap is almost inevitable due to the cut in the seal

no mate the gap in the screen is further down between the actual touch screen and the outer casing not where you have circled. The gap is to the left where the rubber seal bit is and the part of the ribbon cable you can see is where it actually connects to the touch screen.
Madness but crazy-awsome!
Hi, just got mine today Had a brief luck n there seems to be security stickers n the like all over this guy!
Normally I'd join straight in but gona give this one a miss for a while I think

I'm pretty sure that IS what he circled. If you look at the screen itself, you can see the padding that would be at the top, just below the rubber seal area.

No its around the edge of the touch screen so its where the touch screen sits in the frame you can't even see any of that foam when the phone is assembled. You can see the rubber seal on the outer casing on that 3rd picture just compare it to what you can see on your phone.

If that were the case, and the area circled was not the part where the rubber seal was, then the rubber seal would be approximately 3/4" below the top of the phone, rather than 3/8" of an inch (approximation). You can see where the speaker is on the white plastic case, and by looking at the outside of the phone, the rubber seal is literally JUST below that. For the rubber seal to be where the clear screen is wouldn't work proportionately.
Similarities to Blackstone like cam etc.
But disassembling seems to be much easier than Blackstone.
Hope we'll get much more spare parts compared to Blackstone.

It has only recently started peeling but have had it since November.
The cover can be replaced but it is not that cheap from what I can find.

No peeling on my 6mo old T9193. No pouch or any cover, either.
No problems with my battery cover. I did order a new one though, because I want to try to drill a small hole and slot in it to be able to soft reset my HD2 when necessary and take out the SD card without having to remove the battery cover

holy crap! that is hideous! good thing is that after it all wears down, you still have a brushed metal surface underneath.... now unless that begins to shed after the next few months....
here's mine. pictured with phone itself under terrible light.. but you can see..
damn how can i get one of these in Slovenia we don't have our ebay and shipment from US or UK costs more than actual price of cover :S
i'm even thinking of doing the chrome look on it but with real chrome, i know some people who can do that. But i'm not shure about aluminium..
any suggestions?
Christ!!!!
That's looks like someone rubbed their behind with it, then rubbed it in sand, dropped it in acid and is now well on it's way to be driven over by a truck!
Damn Son... that is bad. You really shoud give HTC a piece of your mind. That obviously looks like it might have been defective, unless you really took it to town.

These are quite expensive. I'm sure you can find much cheaper alternatives on eBay. Better yet, take it down to a car garage that does repainting. I'm sure they'll be willing to give you a show quality finish.
While I am installing IPG to my phone, side of my battery is peeling off Because I think the guard did not stick very well and I tear wear too many times.
You could always try and have a silver finish to your cover like ive done

after that, i cant get the screen out ot the front housing. is there something im missing? when i use a pry tool to try to remove it like the rest of the parts, it creaks like its going to break. ive broken it down to study it before the lights get here just to have a grasp on what im doing. any one have any pointers? some one told me it may be glued in and i would need a hair dryer or something similar to remove it. any help you guys could share would be greazt! thanks!

Ballsy man, a lot of phones have the screens glued. It's a stronger construction method and allows for the phone to be thinner.

That's the EXACT same video posted above. It does not however deal with the question at hand. The OP already has the phone to that point.

My apologies. I don't generally follow every link in threads I read, unless I have some reason to. You will understand that the link as posted gave no hint as to what it was.
sorry, i was cooking pork chops. that video posted stops right before where im at...(i know because that is the video i used for reference to get as far as i did.)
they dont remove the screen or where the buttons are at.
its not that ballsy really. this phone only has about 12 screws and 3 cables. there arent even any security stickers or water indicators.

i never got any farther. ive got a box of surface mount leds in 10 colors and nothing to do with them...
Its a double sided sticker holding the lcd to the front housing. I've replaced mine and had to reuse it. It went ok but I stretched it and the glue weakened.
Also the soft keys are glued to the lcd so remember to unplug that ribbon.

Warranty will cover this for sure, don't yell a word about screen protector to them.
You can also try dryer.

So maybe a gentle back and forth with a hair dryer and the steam could escape through the grill?
Just put the phone in rice for a couple hours, and you'll be good.
Thanks guys, I will try the rice tonight.
And definitely do warranty if that doesn't work, because that will be covered, don't mention screen protector (TAKE IT OFF BEFORE YOU GO IN) and be careful of hair dryer so you don't accidentally overheat or cause some other damage to speaker or sensors that would be troublesome to you or warranty down the line. I work for a mobile carrier, trust me, this should be an easy replacement as long as the water indicator sticker isn't red or pink.

Ah, thank you! I'm assuming you used one of those screen protectors that you get wet before applying? Side question: How difficult was it to apply on the screen? I'm horrible with screen protectors that aren't tempered glass and I think I'll have problems with this phone.

Let me know how it goes! I've got the same thing, and I'm afraid to do a wet screen protector install. I usually have Best Buy do it for me, but they don't have any products for sale and they won't do it with the screen protector I bring them.
Glad the rice worked out for you..

I'm in the same boat as you. Although they're getting Edge screen protectors on 4/3 so that might be an option. I don't think I feel comfortable doing it myself after this.

all you need is 2 mist squirts of water, it takes very little water to get the film to stick. in any case, no need to panic, i wouldn't worry it will evaporate in a few hours.
I have the same problem what way did you leave the phone facing in the rice and for how long?
That's an easy fix. Just use a hair dryer and blow into the top little vent and you'll be able to watch it disappear

Holo Effect on Supershieldz tempered glass

I suggest the latter option but just keep in mind that sometimes it wont work as it depends on the quality of your tempered glass. Some bad ones leave those forever.
Get replacement. There's no way to seal by itself.

Those are the same protectors I got and I only had some very mild amounts of this around the edges, most of which I was able to smooth out. There's just a tiny (1mm) spot that remained and it doesn't bother me. I followed the video instructions they reference rather than their printed ones and I think it made the difference.

I post this problem on reddit.
A guy from there told me there was a dust in that area.So he suggest me to lift that part and clean it with dust sticker.
But only lift+clean that area causes more dust+sticker glue on there.
So i open it up fully & reinstall the glass.
But those holo effect is there.
Did you reinstall the old one, or put on a new one? If you reinstalled the old one, the dust is going to stick to it and there's no way to really get it off. You need a brand new one.
If you installed a new one, one of two things is going on. Either you are not cleaning the screen as well as you think (maybe you have some really stuck small particle there), or you are getting something under the edges when you install it.
To help with the first, you might want to use a magnifier with a light to check. Make sure to use the dust remover stickers. It may help to apply in a humid bathroom (run the shower for a while if needed) to keep the floating dust down.
To help with the second, make sure you are not holding the protector with your fingers AT ALL after removing the plastic from the adhesive side. You should have guide stickers attached to the top side (the surface you will be touching once it's applied), sticking out over the edges, which you hold on to. Don't try to hold the protector by the edges with your fingers. If you make a hinge with the stickers like they show you in the video, it's pretty easy to line it up and you don't have to touch it at all.
