Changing CSC on S8 - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Hi,
Tried to flash firmware to get rid of vodafone csc from my new s8 but csc keep staying VOD i want it BTU ideally.
Has anyone tried it yet and done it?
Need some advice

Need to flash then wipe for it to take.

Thanks for advice can you specify do you mean flash and then in recovery wipe cache and wipe data?

Anyone can help please?

Ok what he means is once flashed btu go into recovery not sure what 3 buttons to press but Google it.
Once in there wipe cache and reformat phone once more then it should change VOD to BTU that's what I did when I had my vodafone s7 and changed it to btu

It doesn't work stays VOD no matter what i do

Ok so you flashed BTU what files did you use?

This shouldn't be a problem so let me help. First some questions...
1. From which carrier/country is your phone?
2. Does it have a network lock?
3. Is it the Model number SM-G950F?
4. Which files did you flash via Odin (please type the actual filenames) and with which settings in Odin?
5. If you go into Settings - About phone - Software information - Service provider software. Please tell me the first and third line there under this point.

Hi,
1. Bought from Vodafone UK
2. Removed lock by code
3 G950F
4 Sorry don't have access to my laptop now but I've
Downloaded latest btu software from sammobile
unpacked it and used as per instructions. Tried using either home_csc or the other one but no luck either
Settings tried just standard and tried pit and reformat didn't work either
5. SAOMC_SM-G950F-OXM_XEU_077
XEU/XEU/VOD
when go into recovery it's still VOD tho

You have done all you could do.
You needed to flash with normal CSC NOT with HOME_CSC to change the CSC.
Your new CSC is XEU!
It still shows XEU/XEU/VOD because VOD is the original CSC of your phone. This is new for the S8 and could not be changed! But normally you will get OTA updates for your new XEU CSC just fine! And any Vodafone-Apps should also be removed.
So everything is like on Samsung devices debranded bevore - beside that the factory CSC is hard branded inside the phone. But thats just optical. Everything else works like it is an XEU CSC.

Are you sure about that? In the past if you didnt change properly the CSC after unbranding your phone you werent getting OTA updates anymore, i've read on SamMobile you gotta use Smart Switch using the serial number of a phone you know has that CSC, but i dont know how to find one, no one answered me on here. I'm thinking of going into a store and look at the exhibition one, but im afraid it's not legal to do that.

I9505 ota update help

I had my i9505 rooted via cf autoroot and instaled omega rom. After that I have unrooted and instaled stock rom from sammobile, the same one that i had when I bought my phone with the whole procedure - reset counter, changed csc, reset the phone and installed the stock rom (samsung status is official now). Now new ota rom has arrived as for september,I saw it on sammobile but when I check via phone for software update it always says that I have latest updates installed, how is that possible?? It wont let me update the phone to newer rom,why and what should I do? Thanks for help in advance.
Also when I connect my phone to kies on laptop it can recognise the phone for sync but when I want to check for software update it cannot see the software version of the phone??!!

what is your product code (csc)?
*#1234# what it says?
do you have latest version of kies?
Csc: I9505OXXBMF3,and I have the newest version of kies
Csc is telekom (TSR)

i meant by product code the region code, DBT, BTU, XEO.......
you can know it when connecting to kies, the last 3 letters XXXXX(???)
EDIT: OK
---------- Post added at 10:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:54 PM ----------
does the pda is MF8? and are you sure you are now on TSR
because pda and csc and product code must match
AP and CP last three letters are MF8 and csc is MF3 when I type *#1234#. Also baseband or pda is MF8
I have booted into stock recovery now and somehow it says that csc is set to btu,I dont know how that happend because I am sure that I changed it to tsr. Is it even possible to change csc when I am not rooted??

very good, you have also to verify that you are on TSR product code
if you can not check it with kies try this code *2767*4387264636# if no,
boot into recovery and see it under the command line (in yellow)
EDIT: that is the reason....
no you must be rooted to change product code with app.
and sometimes wiping data and cache after flashing the stock firmware will do the trick
Booted to stock recovery and it says its btu,I dont know how I am 100% sure that I changed it to tsr. Is it possible now to change csc when I am not rooted or...?
There was a code something like #*272#imei or something like that or there is another way because I am not sure tjat from market samsung csc changer will work. Sorry my bad,I should double check the csc...
Ok,thanks for help, will try first to wipe data and cache. Should I wipe dalvik cache also or its not needed to?

*272*..... method does not work on Jellybean.
yes try the wipe options. (i guess there is no option for dalvik in stock recovery)

Can't revert to original CSC (BTU)

Hi i hope someone can help me ive been searching for a day now and no solution was working. I flashed my s5 with CSC BTU to firmware from Poland XEO. I was trying to flash back firmware for UK as it was original and it did but CSC is still XEO i was trying flashing again using different tutorials and using root and app it reverts back to XEO as soon as i reboot device. Tried restore in KIES too and same story. I get message in Recovery mode like Manual mode apllying multi csc apllied the csc code XEO successfuly applied multi csc. And that happens all the time. Any solutions to that please?
Easy to sort flash the latest BTU then keep wiping cache partition then reset keep doing this until it changes to BTU it may take a few goes before it does change.
Done it like 15 times already and no change? Maybe im doing something wrong? still getting that manual mode setting csc to xeo. why the hell this is happening?!

How did you check for the CSC?
Can you use Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app and show all info in the CSC INFO section?
(original CSC, firmware's CSC and active CSC...)
I had this problem too. Heres how i solved it.
Flash the 4.4.2 firmware you are reverting back to and factory reset. Once your phone is set up download and install towelroot supersu and csc changer. Follow the rooting process to root your phone as shown in other guides here. Once rooted use the app to change csc to BTU. your phone will then factory reset. Once booted again flash the firmware again and once again factory reset. You should now have back BTU CSC like i did last night. Hope this helps.

[Q] SM-N910H CSC Change without Root

Hi, I have SM-910H with ACR CSC. I have tried flashing multiple Stock Roms but CSC does not changes. I have factory reset multiple times. Also I have tried below mentioned method multiple times but no avail. If anyone has been successfully change CSC on 910H without root, kindly help me out.
1. Run and configure Odin. Do NOT check “Re-Partition” and “Auto Reboot” check boxes.
2. Load the stock firmware in the PDA button.
3. Set the phone in download mode (Volume Down+Home+Power button). Then connect the phone in your computer.
4. Hit the “Start” button and then wait.
5. Once the flashing successfully completed. Do NOT let it reboot into the normal mode.
6. Reboot into recovery mode (Volume Up+Home+Power button).
7. See if it’s applying the CSC file then wait until it finishes and reboot.
8. If you do not see the CSC installation, instead choose the “Wipe data/Factory reset”. Then repeat flashing the stock firmware. You may then achieved the CSC code flashing the stock firmware on the second attempt.
10. Confirm the CSC code by using Kies 3 or by downloading Phone INFO ★Samsung★ and see if the CSC code has changed.

Find & flash single country csc instead of multi csc, once it's changed to single country csc, flash again as per your requirements.

Thanks for the advice. I can try that. Can you point out any 910H firmware that is single CSC. Also can you tell how to check from downloaded firmware that it is whether single CSC or multi CSC.
I used to flash Singapore rom when I was facing problem like u r facing but i don't know about your model, there was a thread in note 3 forum mentioning this.
Note 3 thread for csc
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2666907
i don't mean to hijack the thread but i am on the same boat with n910f (not rooted).
I have a warranty appointment (battery drain) and wish to flash back to stock. I purchased my phone sim free from Switzerland and i am in the UK. however i tried lollipop German rom (and sadly did not record my csc, i am a noob) and have now downgraded to UK rom to test battery drain issue for a day or two. I now wish to revert back to stock. my phone id csc related fields are as below.
original csc code: BTU
firmware csc: AUT
active csc code: BTU / AUT
csc country iso: CH
which rom should i flash to and back. Also considering the german lollipop rom data has completely gone from the csc which i flashed to the UK rom afterwards will it be safe to flash to it without auto reboot and then flash back to AUT swiss rom. i'd rather not have to set up my device again . and any comments on Warranty things / recommendations i need to take care of before my appointment
thnx
*********my solution ---------
I reset to factory default , installed lollipop rom, reset to factory default, booted lollipop, reset to factory default again, flashed swiss image , reset to factory default and everything was back to stock

How to change Region to get update first?

I have a an italian no brand s8 ITV, i want to change in XEU ( uk and ireland) to get update fast more than my country
I flashed all 4 files in odin and then hard reset but nothing changed.. from AQF7 ITV to AQF7 XEU ( try with this to see if i get new update come out in this days) but nothing remain in Phone info and in setting ITV/ITV/ITV nothing change
Is possible without root make this or i wrong something? Thank guys
Did you wipe data / cache after flashing the firmware? I'm assuming that you may have done as you mention a hard reset.

yes i do a factory reset wipe cache in recovery.. but nothing to do nothing change
Flash self with odin you first guy
Ok ITV is part of the same csc as XEU so all you need to do is flash the 4 files but when flashing use the home csc file not the other one and then see what happens.
i try see what happens, i remove sim card too

Nothing with home csc nothing change.. always ITV ITV ITV
Flash, boot set wifi ecc then reboot in recovery ( first say no command all time i tried but 3sec appear recovery) wipe everything, but nothing change
Strange one that. But just thinking because ITV and XEU are part of the csc family you should get OTA pretty much the same time. I just recently updated mine to latest update by connecting my phone to my laptop and then smart switch.
You have to use a UK Sim card and make a reset with it

remove carrier branding(UK variant)?

been looking for a few days now how to remove the 3(three) banding from my s10+ it just annoys me everytime i see it when it restarts, so far ive flashed a UK BTU from samflash but that didnt do anything other than make some things french, i then reflashed the 3(three) H3G rom and it appeared to work, until i relocked the bootloader. anyone have any idea how to get rid of the three branding? the phones unlocked but i just hate seeing it. preferably id like to not root this phone as i want to keep my banking apps and what not working.

Hi mate
Seems like something was not done properly during flashing , BTU is an unbranded firmware , it should had worked ,by default the CSC is XEF (France) but if you have your (UK) sim in during flashing it should had recognize it.
No need to root , just flash it again , use CSC file not home_csc , it will wipe everything ( back up before doing any thing)
Check here

The problem is this multi csc rom , they carry many different ones , if is not defined by the sim there is a default csc that is used (XEF) , you can still change languages and so on but if your UK sim is in is a little easier...

Hi
Kind of lost Q6?
Latest BTU firmware:
Model SM-G975F
Model name Galaxy S10+
Version Android 10
Changelist 17369399
Build date Fri, 13 Dec 2019 08:37:42 +0000
Security Patch Level 2020-01-01
Product code BTU
PDA G975FXXS3BSL4
CSC G975FOXM3BSKO
What i usually do when a fresh install:
Back up (never forget)
Then:
1. Extract (un-rar) the firmware file (i.e. to folder c:\Odin) ***
2. Download Odin v3.14.1
3. Extract Odin ZIP file (i.e. to folder c:\Odin)
4. Open Odin v3.14.1
5. Power OFF your S10+
6. Reboot Phone in Download Mode (1st plug-in USB-cable to your S10+!!!), push Bixby + Volume Down buttons, while pushing them plug-in USB-cable to PC
7. Wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
8. Add the firmware files to their designated slots
In Odin
load BL / AP / CP and CSC
9. Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
10. Click the start button, sit back and wait few minutes
When you do a fresh install you use CSC file , this will full wipe the phone , will leave the phone as new, after that fresh install if you wish to flash again ( for any reason) but do not want to lose your settings then use home_csc
CSC file will do a full wipe , in your case I would use CSC , no need to wipe before or after
