Custom rom doesn't boot - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys
I have my Galaxy S5 now +- 3 years, and use a custom rom about 2 years now...
Until now, I'm unable to boot any custom rom, everything freezes at the boot screen...
I was using Resurrection Remix Nougat, but can't update it, not dirty and not clean.
Today I flashed a stock rom with Odin, and I can't boot any custom rom except the stock rom...
Can someone help me please?
thanks in advance!

Check the bootloader and modem, if it's the correct version. Otherwise, recovery might be the culprit. Nougat ROMs are kind of sensitive to older basebands, though results might actually vary.

Flashing Rom Problems

I am trying to change my rom on my Galaxy J5 2015. I have installed TWRP using odin and when I tried flashing Resurrection Remix and Slim 6 I am having the same problems. When I flash the Roms an reboot I get 2 green lines across the display an then it would fade out green and do nthing. Has anyone else have this problem or is it just my phone?
This problem comes when you try install roms like rr6 and slim6 to mm bootloader. They need you to be on ll bootloader. So you would need first to downgrade your phone to stock 5.1.1 and then flash twrp and then flash roms you tried to flash before.
Please read the forum for the rom before flashing.
Almost all the time they say which bootloader you need.
To flash RR and slim 6 you need lollipop bootloaders

You need to downgrade to 5.1.1 through Odin before you can use those roms

not able to flash twrp

Hi guys I have rooted my YU yureka cm 11. Its been 2 days I am trying to flash twrp on my device using both twrp official app and twrp manager. I have tried 3.1,3.0,3.02 versions while flashing. After flashing it says successfull but when I tried to reboot into recovery the mobile stucks on YU logo I think gets bricked this is what happening every time
CM11?
Any reason to sticking with CM11?
It is a 32 bit ROM and TWRP you're trying to flash is 64 bit. It won't get flashed ever.
Better install COS12.1 or any other custom ROMs.
There is no any specific reason for sticking with cm11 I thought it is most stable.
So is there any way I can flash twrp?
Or do I have to upgrade to cm 12.1 and then try to flash?
Can you recommend me any rom with better stability for yureka?
First try to upgrade to COS12.1 and than flash TWRP.
There are lots of N custom ROMs available and is stable. You can find more about them here or at YU Forum.

Flash Cos12.1 via fastboot, as it will change ur architecture from 32bit to 64bit...
Then check bootloader status, and if locked, unlock it as well, flash TWRP and enjoy custom ROMs,
Nougat ROMs are much stable now
For any problem, feel free to ask,
Thank YOU
thanks
Thank you very much guys , your help is very very appreciated.

galaxy note 4 with twrp 3.0.2-0, how to go to latest stock rooted?

i have a verizon galaxy note 4 i haven't used in ages that i need to start using again and i wanted to go to stock rooted and clean up some bloat. what is a good way to do this?
thanks!
some more details
The phone is currently running EmotionOS 7.1.1 and 2CPL1
i decided to stay with custom roms:
upped to twrp 3.2.1, wiped memory, odin to CQL1, twrp installed RR and open gapps.
anyone know a rom that has working miracast to windows 10 or any OS?
I have been test LOS 14.1 and it works okay but a little unstable. Seems like the best I can get on this phone will be as close to stock as possible. I had it working well enough but I wanted to root the device.
So I would like to know what combination of bootloader and firmware/Rom will give me
unlocked bootloader
Twrp
Stock MM
Root
Best cell performance
Thanks in advance

need help

Hello friends,
I hope you can help me understand if it is already explained in any thread of this forum, I had the rom stock 8 with turbo game installed, it gave failures and I decided to try another rom install twrp 3.2.3.0-hi6259-askuccio-v1, clean and install the rom lineage 15.1 the most recent but I no longer load the start logo when in the previous version if I loaded it now I do not load anything from used erecovery to restore a rom stock b366 my doubt is if there is any way to return to Try a custom rom and I did everything again from the bootloader to install in this official rom stock, if it will not be a nuisance to be stuck in roms stock when I have worried other beautiful roms.
by the way my device is WAS-LX3 AT&T Mexico, I am currently stuck in the rom stock WAS-LX3 8.0.0.366 (C212CUSTC212D001)
first of all, Thanks.

Has anyone managed to get any custom ROM to work on a SM-A405FN/DS ?

Hello !
Has anyone actually managed to get any custom ROM to work on a Samsung Galaxy A40 SM-A405FN/DS ?
Mine is currently running the current latest stock ROM (SM-A405FN_2_20211030045838_jg43vcqbiw_fac) downloaded with Frija and I managed to install TWRP from here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/recovery-a40-teamwinrecoveryproject-3-6-x-unofficial.4364575/
However, ANY custom ROM that I try to install :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/a11-r-arm64-a40-lineageos-18-1-unofficial-by-kevios12.4335409/
https://sourceforge.net/projects/eurekaroms/files/Samsung/A40/R/lineage/
GSI
maybe others that I forgot
will either bootloop or end up with a black screen.
Looking at the following threads, I'm starting to wonder if the SM-A405FN/DS is custom-ROM-compatible at all ?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/help-my-a405fn-wont-boot-any-custom-rom.4337041/
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/samsung-a40-black-screen.4354421/
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/galaxy-a40-infinite-loop-impossible-to-turn-on.4337343/
Im running CrDroid 7.13 without any issues with root and gapps. Many custom roms bootloop because of your newer firmware with Bit/SW REV.
Security Patch Lvl. being 4 and those custom rom were built on the older firmware with probably patch level 3. I had installed DotOS fan edition fully working like a year ago, then I tried some new custom roms, which somehow broke my system so the system couldnt start up even after reflashing original boot image, so I reflashed to the newest firmware which was working, then I tried flashing older one and it wouldnt boot, it just shows black screen with error bit/sw 3 boot 4. So you have to flah roms, whose are built on the newer bit level to boot up, the best is CrDroid and now the newest ALT-F4 version 0.0.3 from this forum: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-oneui-3-1-a40-alt-f4-v0-0-1-updated-2021-12-18.4373813/
I tried it myself and it is the best for this phone, it is fully debloated and pre-rooted stock rom. I also tried CrDroid 8x, everything works for me, but it fells slow and the ram is almost maxed out. I also recommend upgrading to this TWRP: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/recovery-official-twrp-for-galaxy-a40-a405fn.4025587/
The unofficial twrps had some bugs for me. I hope this helps and happy flashing!
THANK YOU for your comprehensive reply !! I'll give ALT-F4 a try as soon as I can !

Good luck!
Well, luck has not been enough: after updating TWRP to the official version, I tried yesterday to install ALT-F4 0.0.3 but got the exact same result: black screen, need to reflash the stock ROM to make it boot (even to recovery !!) again.
Would you have any other idea ?
EDIT:
I actually tried crDroid in the past, to no avail either.
