Keep app alive (in background) - Mate 8 General

Hi guys,
I have a Mate 8 NXT-L29 with Android 7. Recently I bought a fitness smart bracelet who use an app: "Smart Wrist Band". I downloaded it from Google Play.
The problem is that the app is running well for an hour (more or less) and then the it close by itself.
I tried to add in Settings>Apps>Settings>Special access>Ignore Battery optimization but nothing is changed.
I also have a MI fitness bracelet and everything is working well (even without adding the app in battery optimization option).
Before this I had another band with Day Day app. This was working well.
What do you think? Is it a problem with the app? I saw in the comments section that I'm not the only one with lack of the connection problem.
Thank you!

Tap that square navigator button, select the app, and then tap the Lock icon on its upper-right corner.

James, thank you for your reply. I tried to use tasker (to open the app when it is closed but...without success).
I tried your solution. Until now, the app is on. I'll wait until tomorrow.
I will come back with the results. Thank you!

GPS notification icon in taskbar

Hi,
After searching for days i'm giving up. Please help ?
What i want:
I wanna have a notification icon in the taskbar, just like the BT-icon:
"if GPS is active then show GPS-icon".
I understand that the trick is to monitor the use of the GPS Intermediate Driver. Who can and will help?
Thnx!
I hate to kick this, but please, can anyone of the developers enlighten me?
I'm gonna join the bandwagon for this, I would also like this feature.

Thnx! I hope more will join us, and more will dive in to this to actually get a solution
That's one of the things I'm missing!
Or maybe flash the notification light swiftly 3 times every 10 seconds to symbolize GPS activity.. My previous phone had such led and it was great to actually be able to see what's happening, or that what should happen actually does happen.
I still want this! Is there any developer....?
I want it to
I found it here. It worked on my Topaz but it would be nice if the icon is a satelite instead of just a red/yellow/green dots
I have contacted the author and hope he responds
Hello everyone.
I too needed an application like this and since I had no luck finding one on the market, I decided to write the app myself. You can find on the market by the name GPS Monitor Free by Illyrium. What the app does - it activates itself as soon as GPS is in use and deactivates when GPS is no longer in use. While GPS is in use, the app shows a notification icon with the satellites in view. For the moment this is all that the app does, but I am working to add some other features to it.
The app is free for the moment - and will be free (even the pro version) for everyone that helps me by sending me bugs/features.
If you have any ideas, you are more than welcome to pass them to me an I will try to implement them as soon as possible.
Cheers,
Adrian

Any watch face that shows seconds when screen is dimmed?

I'm a nurse and need seconds displayed on my watch for when I perform vitals. I know there are watch faces that display seconds, but they go away once the screen dims. Any third party watch faces that would fit the bill?
BTW loving my gear live! Picked it up this morning.

I haven't seen any. That'd be a massive drain on the battery; the watch would be constantly redrawing the display instead of sitting idle and updating only once a minute. I'm not sure you'd even get through a shift before it were to die...

Yeah true good point. Well maybe there's an app I can load that just gives me seconds for when I go into a patients room. I guess I could load like a timer or something too. Or maybe I'll just have to use a regular watch during my shifts. Thanks for the input.

I'm sure someone could whip up an accurate watchface app that stays alive while open. Not sure if one exists already. But it shouldn't be hard to do at all.

Yeah I would only need it active for the 5-10 min I'm in the room than switch back to a normal clock face. I would gladly donate for this too. Hopefully some Dev see's this.

Also any thing using configurable app like "wear picture watch" since you actually can just configure it to show seconds even while dimmed. There are a few nice wear picture skins out there, this guy has a whole bunch

Hey that url is no good...Also I went to that guys page but its just zip files, not actual apks. He has some amazing designs. Wish I could actually download them. thanks for the info.
I'm learning that app but can't figure out the seconds part. Under clock draw interval, I figure that's where I need to be. I've tried sec always but seconds still don't pop up. Any ideas?

It's amazing how little people read.
i linked you to an app called "wear picture watch". Download and install that. Open it, it's a watch designer. Download the zip file from that guys page now open "wear picture watch" app. Goto the side menu scroll down you'll see "import/export" click on it. Now select the zip file and click "refresh" on top. There are other settings here on this app where you can adjust what shows up and what doesn't. One of those options can be tuned to have the seconds hand show up even when dimmed. Furthermore there is "update interval" which can be changed do the second hand moves even when dimmed.

Actually you originally linked me to a play google link first. Which did NOT work. Which is why I said url did not work. Than I did go to that G+ link. I originally didn't see the instructions within the posts on G+, so my bad. Maybe I was distracted by the nice designs. As for the "update interval" section, there is none. There is a "clock draw interval" but not a update interval. I only saw that under weather settings.
I got it working. It is in fact the "clock draw interval", not "update interval". Just had to change that to sec. always(wake lock). Now just need to figure out how to get some numbers in there displayed around the clock.

No worries, got it working exactly how I want it! So glad you pointed this out. So now I can just switch to this clock temporarily when I go in to see patients. I will post the file(assuming I can, and of course giving credit to where its due) that I used with the adjustments I made to allow seconds be displayed even while dim. So if future medical personal come along, they have a way to use their smart watch at work. thanks again.
Help getting a face
Hi
As an EMT this is exactly what I'm looking for! Downloaded wear picture watch app, but am having a hard time getting faces imported. Went to the G+ page and got the box link to download a face. It downloads a .face file. Question is where do I go from there. I do not see an import/export option in the app.
Thanks a lot

Keeping screen on or app open

I've had a look around for answers for this and have found a few people asking about it on different sites but not on xda and no answers anywhere.
I've a moto 360, and want to know if there's a way to either keep the screen on indefinitely and/or stay within an application when the screen goes to sleep.
The best way to describe this is to use an example; when I go grocery shopping I like to use google keep on my watch to tick off items on my shopping list, the problem is every 10 seconds or so I find myself having to wake the watch, navigate to the keep app and open it. I appreciate this doesn't take long, but its a pain in the backside when you have to do it every 5 minutes (with my awful memory!)
Does anyone know a way to make this happen?
Thanks in advance.

Wear mini launcher now has an option to force the app to stay open (and the watch stays lit) until you manually close it.
Bubble launcher has a "lock app" option. The the watch will go to sleep as normal, but that app will immediately reload when you wake the watch. (Keep goes right back to same place you were.)
"Pin An App for Android Wear" does the same as bubble launcher, without the launcher function.
Great stuff, thank you!
I couldn't get mini launcher to work, but pin an app works like a dream! thank you!

I realized later that the stay-on ability is only in the beta release for now. If you go to the "wear mini launcher" community on google+, you can join the beta program. Or just wait, I guess.

Floatify doesn't work?

Hey guys,
So I have this app called Floatify and I love the app, I've used it for a very long time but suddenly I noticed it didn't work anymore, I've installed the app again and again but it just works for 5 minutes and then it stops working.
I've enabled developer options and I've rooted the device, after those actions it didn't work anymore...
Does anyone know how I can make it work again?
Thanks in advance

X5 Plus first week and some issues

Hi all,
I finally decided to go for the Finow X5 plus after reading you a lot, I thought AMOLED display was worthy, and it is.
I've spend 1 week with it and I have some "difficulties" , most on software part.
-I cannot pair the watch with my S7 Edge via bluetooth, I just can only tethering internet connection, but not pairing in order to get notifications.
I've tried every single app you recomend in other threads but the thing is devices can't be paired if is not for tethering, in connection"/Bluetooth I see my phone, I click on it but it does nothing,I need to click on the right side nut to set the tethering to connect...has anyone faced this issue before?
-Menu distribution is such a pain, to get the apps icon you need to scroll 5 times, not handy at all. I decided to install Nova Launcher, it works great, also de gestures are very usefull, but when using it ".vxp" watchface cannot be displayed and a clockwidget needs to be used as watchface. Is there any way to have Nova Launcher working in background so gestures still work while displaying ".vxp" watchface? that would solve a lot of daily use issues this firmware has.
Thanks for your replies

I haven't tried it yet, I'll reply to you when I do, hopefuly tomorrow
EDIT: I've used it today in the country side and GPS worked well, good signal all day waearing it on my wrist.
I have one question regarding FINOW X5 Plus.
Is it waterproof? Or just IP55/54?
I can`t find this info...
To connect to your smartphone you need to download app. You may easily find link to this application by selecting "Watch helper" app on your smartwatch and on the bottom is QR code with this link (tip: click it to enlarge).
Next, you need to enable Bluetooth both on your smartwatch and phone. Next, try to pair both devices. You'll propably see verification code, select "Pair" option.
You cannot pair your watch from bluetooth menu, so please open Watch Helper app, click "Select device" and click your watch on the list (propably mentioned as "X5 Plus"). Now youre connected to your smartwatch

Hello Friend, how are you ?
I have an X5 plus that came with GPS problem (which finds satellites but does not set). It is probably the NVRAM.bin file that has a problem.. Can you send me a copy?
I already asked the file for Finow, but unfortunately there is no support, no one answers.
If you can help me, I'll explain how to copy the file.
can you help me ? Thank you

Have you tried a factory reset by recovery? With the clock off, hold down the power button + down button, when the finow logo appears, release the power button and continue holding the down button. You will enter the recovery screen. Using the physical buttons, go to clear emmc and confirm with the power button. This will erase all data from your smartwatch.

I use M2D bluetooth manager, M2D sender (on phone) and M2D receiver (on watch). It works great.

Dear sirs,
1. Is it normal that battery last only about 8-9 hours although I have put on flight mode and only enabled Bluetooth for notifications from my phone.
2. On X5 plus, how can I check what applications are draining the battery life? It shows the battery percentage only. (X5 can see but not in X5 plus)
3. How can I find more of the different watch styles and download to use?
4. Its a pain in the butt to scroll to the Apps or Settings page each time. I have tried using the floating accessibility ball or such but significantly drained the battery. Are there any other shortcuts button/launcher for round watch available?
5. Google map, how can I zoom out after zooming in?
Thanks a lot.
Finow x5 plus Smart watch suddenly stopped and will not turn on. Please help
The wacht suddenly stopped and the screen is Black. No image when starting the watch. Even connection on pc with USB will not response. Pushing buttons gives no action. Does someone has an idea how to restart the watch
