Horrendous battery life - Can someone help? (15% in 10 hours, 30 MINUTES SoT) - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Can someone please help me with my battery life? My phone drained 15% in 10 hours with barely 30 minutes of actual use.
TMobile Galaxy S8
Nothing disabled except Lookout.
Screen resolution on highest
Auto brightness
Accounts: 2 GMails, 1 Yahoo, 1 IMAP, 1 Samsung
NFC/Bluetooth off (for these 10 hours)
WiFi/data on
Scanning for nearby devices off
WiFi on sleep off (similar results with it on)
Here is my battery info, from settings and GSAM:
imgur.com/a/apn1f/layout/grid

Drained 15% In 10hrs so you have 85% left and you think it's bad???how much do you think it's a normal drain for say an hour idle?because in your case it drained 1.5% with 30mn sot. I think you can tweak to drain something like 0.5% per hour

Umm this is really good.

Is this your first phone ever? Lol. This is great

not sure if trolling :/

Maybe he means the battery went at 15 % and lost 85%

Turn Auto Brightness off. I've found that to help. With the phone brightness set to 50%, I've found it to be brighter @ that same setting than my old Note 4. At least it seems that way, and it's plenty bright. Love this screen!.

Here's my battery life and usage for 2 days.
It's great.

I'm guessing he meant 15% left in 10 hours. With only 30 minutes of use which would be terrible. My advice would do a factory reset and try again.

Here is my sister's phone, she has Lookout enabled, AoD on, NFC on, and two email accounts syncing. She charges overnight and starts the day with 100%:

If you can't/dont want to see the picture, she used 57% in 11hr30m. 43% left and 3hr49m SoT.
My phone right now (haven't charged since picture in the original post)
46% remaining (used 54% in 21hr57m)
21hr57m on battery
2hr19m SoT
I believe I was on mobile data longer (she was mainly using WiFi today), but I feel like these are two completely different phones in terms of battery life. Is there seriously nothing wrong with my battery life?

Didn't you post this on Reddit and get the same responses?

[Q] Best way to train a brand new battery

there are alot of mixed opinions on how to properly train a brand new battery, I'm talking right out the box 5 mins ago. Some are saying let the new battery drain and then start the charging/discharging and some are saying charge it right out of the box.
Anybody have a definite answer that has worked for them? Battery life has been an issue for me in the past and i wanna get this one right. thanks guys!
I charge it right out the box then do a full discharge and charge it back up again.
I think I'm a moderate / heavy user and I still get quite good battery life. Averaging around 20 hours before I need to charge.

It's Lithium Ion. You don't need to train it.
Android however needs to figure out how long it can run before the battery is dead. Charge it til it's full and run it down. Do that a few times and the OS should get a pretty good idea on where the battery is sitting.

yeah sorry for not being more clear, this is what I meant. not training the battery itself but the system so the battery stats are more precise
Wasn't there a special HTC-approved charging strategy that supposedly improves battery life dramatically? Was that ever debunked as BS?

you are not a heavy user then. I got about 12 hours with 2G only selected for most of the day. switched to HSPA. hspa+ 8megs killlllz my battery. I went from 70% to about 30 within a few hours just sitting in HSPA+ area and browsing and checking emails and facebooking. at about 12:30 that night i was at about 15%

You need to delete batterystats.bin from system if you get inaccurate readings. And yes, lithium ion batteries need no training. That was the older type nickel-whatever...

So, you're basically saying we need to train the OS, not the battery, am I right?
I always gave the battery a full charge and then let it go down to 0 and finally power down before re-charging. After doing that a few times I just did whatever as far as charging goes.
I also used to charge a lot here and there through out the day. I know only charge when it's low and I know I am doing a full charge. Not sure if it makes a difference with battery health, but I feel like I notice a difference.

Lithium Ion batteries should not have complete discharge cycles. Keep it above 40% when you can. Charge it regularly.

well I did the Evo trick and... i'm at 12 hours off the charge and 34%... that's with web browsing, texting, gtalk, phone calls, etc.
I think the GSM Auto (PRL) has helped a bit as my "time without a signal" went from 44% to 0%.
There are too many different answers from discharge at half, charge to full then discharge, and not let it discharge below 40%.
I think we should all test and log the different techniques.
So far
44 hours with light use
21 hours with normal use
15 hours with heavy use
and what I did was discharge at half and fully charge, also I dont let it shut down by itself and turn it off at 1 %.

Okay, I read the post and did the evo trick, from my understand it stops your phone from constantly looking for a network.
while I made the changes, am I suppose to have "use only 2G network" check or unchecked? Also my connection changes from E to H all the time with this trick, is that suppose to happen because from my understanding it should stop it from switching networks?
I just tried the GSM Auto (PRL) evo trick.. now to wait and see if this helps at all..
Whoops, I didn't mean to imply that the evo trick was the GSM Auto (PRL) setting... I was talking about this:
To also help with Battery Life you can do these steps exactly: 1) Turn your device ON and Charge the device for 8 hours or more 2) Unplug the device and Turn the phone OFF and charge for 1 hour 3) Unplug the device Turn ON wait 2 minutes and Turn OFF and charge for another hour Your battery life should almost double, we have tested this on our devices and other agents have seen a major difference as well.

I'm amazed at how much people use their phones sometimes... over 400 texts in a day? At that rate, you'd use more texts in a few days than I do in a month lol.
Impressive battery life, especially considering the amount of usage. When I've had relatively heavy use, I've managed to get the phone below 10% with ~19 hours since last charge. Pretty sure I didn't have that much actual usage though.
I miss the chance i get no update although i was registered. The update sounds good. How about wifi reception?
EDIT: I got update without signing up.
I'm on a bell atrix and I'm experiencing the same results from freezing and de bluring. I previously had about 12 hours of usage. Now I'm around 17 hours and that still was at 20%. That means when the update eventually rolls out it'll be even better. Now thats what I'm talking about

I'm having the reverse problem. I probably get about 10 hours of use before my phone dies. I lose about 10% per hour with just playing music. Maybe my battery is screwed up.
I wish I could get the great battery life some of you report. I switched to battery saver and found the app "out of milk" was using between 56-71% cpu when completely off. Added that app to the auto end list in the factory task manager. Not sure what else I can do to improve battery life. Never gotten over 2 hours of display time and usually can't get that much.

Battery at 94 percent and says estimated life 5 hrs???

Was just wondering if anybody else had run into this. It says I'm at 94% and its showing I only have 5 hours of battery life estimated left. Can this be right? My Samsung S7 Edge has 87% and it's showing it's going to last 10 hours. I'm running 7.0 nougat also.
Uh, that statistic doesn't mean jack ****.
If I've hardly touched my phone for a few hours, it's going to say 20+ hours remaining (with the current usage), so that is completely irrelevant for almost any case.
it's the estimate based on the current use, so if you unplug the phone from the charger (100%) and use your phone for 20min and the battery go down to 94%, then the estimate will be based on that and will show ~5hour left.
so basicaly , what adsubzero said : "that statistic doesn't mean jack ****."

It's not that it isn't 100% accurate, it shouldn't ever be even considered.
It basically takes into account what have you been doing since the last full charge and tries to project the remaining battery life.
That would only be accurate if you were using the phone in the same linear behavior from 100% to 0%.
The conclusion: don't worry about that.
That's would be 5h SOT if you using it constantly until the battery drain out completely

Check the screenshot.
So this would mean I have 13h SOT left?
Nope, over the 9h I've used 40% of the battery, so it estimated that it would take 13h for the remaining 60%.
See how it draws a straight line to 0 from 100, which means it's a simple linear calculation.
If I went beast mode and started gaming it would be at 0% in 2h or less, and that is a big miscalculation which is why it shouldn't be taken seriously.

Naw, normal day, mix (wifi and 4g).
It's about the same like 3T but I will sell it.
Very impressed with battery backup.
First charge (full) since I received the device, everything stock.
Medium to high usage over 36-38 hours, setting up, installing apps, gaming a little, videos, browsing. Mostly on WiFi, maybe a couple of hours on 4G:
15% battery remaining
After today's oxygen update my battery has gotten significantly better. It may also be a case of the battery settling in after a few days. I went from losing 30% in 2 hours idle in my pocket yesterday to losing 30% in 9 hours using it throughout work today. Color me impressed. And this is coming from the Moto Z play. A battery beast!!!

Got about 7 + hours of SOT ..
What is approximately the SOT when using i) mobile data and ii) two SIM cards?
Sent from my Huawei Mate S using Tapatalk
I'm getting a bit more, but mostly over WiFi, ralely on data (4G), sometimes I charge the phone at night before going to sleep (10:30pm), go to sleep with my phone near to me and check it several times during the night, and it reaches 4pm with 30% of battery, so I feel like in normal situation more than 14 hours of charge and around 8 hours of use.
installed a new app for battery measurement called 3c battery widget.
according to this thing i probably get around 8 hours of sot as well. (wifi browsing brightness set not too high)
I can get max 3-4 hours SOT. 4G active all the time except when I sleep ~8 hours. GPS allowed. No wifi, not playing games at all. Using Facebook, messenger, 9gag and sometimes navigation.
Record is 2.3 hours SOT at 54% battery so with same usage I could get about 5 hours. Usually 1 SOT hour = 25% battery for me.
