weather widget uses weather channel info - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S8+ Guides, News, & Discus

So I've used the s1 to the s7 and the built in weather widget got it's info from AccuWeather and generally the data was spot on. After i got my s8 i noticed that it have wrong data every other day only to realize that it's no longer AccuWeather but now using the data from the weather channel. I guess this is more of a psa than anything else

Weather forecast updates with no data connection ?

Hello all,
I'm the happy owner of an Hero since one week but I have an "issue" with the Weather widget, the widget itself and the info under the clock in the home page.
I live in France but I work in another country, I've not enabled auto data roaming as it costs a lot ... Problem is that at 6:30am for instance the forecasts are updated, then I cross the border, data mode becomes disable and then 6h after, the logo still shows a moon and the 7°C based on 6:30 update. And it stays in this useless state until 6pm when I leave the roaming mode returning to France.
How can I make the 2 widgets showing estimated forecast (looks like 3 days are available) even if no update is possible ? Before the Hero I was using a Winphone with SPB Mobile Shell and the weather widget was taking care of the time of the day to change the logo/forecast even not connected ...
If not possible with the HTC, could you point me to a weather widget more "clever" than this one (beautiful widget maybe) ?
Thanks in advance.
PS: Title should be "display updates" ... sorry.

How to force local weather location

I have noted that lately my local weather (based on GPS-location) is on the other side of the world from where I am. Is there some way to force this or reset it so it uses my GPS location?
I had a similar problem.
My location was stuck at erronously showing Bucharest, Romania.
Later I saw that Bucharest was listed in the World Clock page.
When I deleted it from the World Clock list, Bucharest dissappeared from the weather list as well.
Weather page correctly shows my hometown weather info.
Weather page shows weather at your current location and also in every location you have in World Clock locations. You can scroll through them with up and down gesture. Problem is it remembers the last page, so if you scroll to whatever non-current location, it will be displayed next time too.
Thanks -- since it changes locations between my home and my office, going home it did correctly change to that location. Now, this morning, I note that it is correctly showing my office location again. I appreciate your feedback and will remember to check the world clocks if it happens again.
location sevice isn't based on gps data because then it would be accurate. I don't use it because it is off by about 20km from where I live. I added my city manually and that works for me.
i had to manually set it as it kept on thinking i was in lima (peru?) rather than glasgow.
now its got me as glasgow most of the time but it is a little strange in that the fixed weather for glasgow is always a little different from "my location" glasgow...
(edited to include screengrabs to prove i'm not crazy...)
accuweather seems to be quite wrong when it comes to european weather. i tried germany and switzerland and accuweather was hardly right wih its forecast.
atm it wont even let me update, giveme a connection errorbsite.
I just have the same problem the first time yesterday. Is it global? My location became an unknown city in a far away time zone. Weather and clock (home page big clock and task bar hh:mm) all switched to the new location and new time. Very confusing.
my location is about 10 miles away but when i go elsewhere (uni, gf's) it updates it correctly. soooo strange any ideas how to solve it
Yep, I experienced the same problem this morning with the latest 1.66 ROM. Was showing Zagreb as my location, removed the battery for a couple of minutes and problem solved.

Weather Widget bug? or change fr. 1.5

The weather on the home page with v1.5 you could add locations with a map search. I noticed that with v2.1 the map point location 'tool' is not there. I am trying to load certain locations to my weather and 2.1 version doesn't list any cities like version 1.5 did.
Is this a bug or a change? or am I missing something?
They expect you to know where you want to know the weather or else why would you want to know the weather? Confusing
Confusing, yes
Whether or not I know the weather is neither their business nor mine? I'd rather know whether the weather is more pleasant rather than not, in places i'd rather be....whether here or there.
author unknown. It's better that way.
sorry if I'm wasting time. Thanks to all of you who helped all of us who need "Eris and Android 2.1 for Dummies"!
All punning aside, I love the animations on screen. The rain drops had me nervous the first time they came up. The clouds passing by was neat. I think my favorite is the sunshine's aura.
There are TONS of complaints about the Eris weather widget. It's a flaky one for sure. We have three Eris's in my house and have yet to get all of them to work correctly, in spite of me spending lots of time on the phone with HTC. Mine actually works pretty well right now. My wife's would never display the correct city, but we could get close. After upgrading hers, it showed the correct city for the first time EVER...for a little while. The next day, it would only say "current location".
Sometimes your computer monitor makes a fantastic sounding board. As I sat here typing this, a thought popped into my head on the subject. Just grabbed the wife's phone (and some boob on the way by ) and went into settings>location and found that GPS was enabled, but network location was not. Turned on both and voila`...the correct city name popped up. Check your location settings. That's all I got for ya...I hope it works.

I have another issue with the HTC weather/clock widget. I've reloaded this new ROM 3 times already to see if there was an issue with installing other clock/weather programs but I have not been able to fix it.
On my home screen, the weather shows correctly (current location) and updates much quicker than the 1.5 ROM did.
When I tap the clock, by default it goes to "Desk Clock" Where it shows the time, weather and across the bottom you can choose between the world clock, alarm, stopwatch and timer.
The problem I am having is that the weather in this screen is stuck on Akron, OH. While I don't have anything against Akron, I don't particularly care about the weather there (its 640 miles away). I've deleted the location in the weather widget settings but every time the "Desk Clock" loads, sure enough, Akron, OH weather is displayed.
Anyone else with this problem?

Have you tried deleting the stock widget and then adding the htc weather widget and setting a certain location where you live or current location? When you add the new widget it asks what city or current location you want it to default to. I got tired of seeing it set for 14 or current location instead of the city so I just set it to Baltimore as its the closest major city.
hope this helps

I'm not having any problems with the stock time/weather widget on the home screen. It's the desk clock app that also shows the time. If you tap the clock on the home screen it takes you to the different clock, alarm, stopwatch, timer apps and the desk clock app shows the time, date, and weather. It is here that the weather only displays Akron, OH. My home screen updates as expected and about 5x faster than the 1.5 ROM.

S8 weather widget in the lock screen

Good day.
I have seen some pics of galaxy S8 with an weather widget in the lock screen, but i can't seem to find that in my settings.
Anyone has a clue where can i find that?
Thank you.

Does your weather app update regularly?

Mine doesn't. I have to manually update it even though I have the weather in home screen. This is stupid. It's there a way to update like hourly?

Yep
How?
How?
Think mine does as well.
There are times I'm not paying attention to the weather and the temperature # will change on the widget without me opening the app and manually refreshing.
Have seen it happen on at least 2 occasions that I can recall. Don't really use the weather app that much in the first place
My weather widget doesn't update. I've heard it might be a bizarre issue where it doesn't update in the EU region. Possibly a GDPR confirmation missed at one point. I didn't want to try this method for my reasons, but you could try setting your phone region to India, for instance, creating the widget and letting it detect your location. If that succeeds, you can revert to your region and the thing should then work, in theory. Let me know if you succeed.
I not working ,you can set up automatic update at night. Between 23 and 7!! Who need update when sleep.
I use Google widget At a glance and its working without any problem. Everyone have it in widget - Google
Only option I have is overnight crap. The weather is so unstable in this part of the world. I need to be able to update at least hourly, automatically of course.
Even if it does update during the night, at 6pm your widget will still be showing weather from 7am
I tried "simple weather & clock" by difer, which almost made it. I realized if you use 3rd party weather app, the time on notification bar stays on, in home screen. Which is annoying because I only want 1 big time shown on weather app that also allow me to access timer and alarm. Who needs 2 of same time shown on home screen? I rather have defect stock weather app, looks neater at least..
I also have the clock always in the status bar. Except for when a notification arrives, or right after unlocking it. It's connected to the default launcher and I'm using the Poco Launcher. I need my app drawer
If you don't want the clock in the status bar, you could use the MIUI clock only widget, and then just a separate widget for the forecast.
