Is this phone's hardware quite close to Redmi Note4 (Snapdragon) - Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime Questions & Answers

I noticed that both of them are using snapdragon 625. besides the different screen sizes, they are really look like the same, isn't it?

Well, yeah they really look the same in terms of Design, Hardware & Screen Resolution.
Their differences are as of the following:
- Phone's Dimensions
- Weight(9 grams heavier on Redmi Note 4)
- Speaker(Redmi Note 4 has 24-bit/192kHz audio speaker)
- It has 4GB/64GB variant if you prefer more RAM and Storage.
So if you like smaller/compact phone like me, go for Redmi 4 Prime.

note 4gb/64 has faster storage and fewer lte bands. other than that maybe a slightly better camera.

But there's not info about 'markw'.

If so, will there be a lineage official/unofficial ROM for it? I really wanna know.

Note 4 is MIDO codename. Not direct port.

i wonder if we can cross flash miui 9 for note 4 to 4 prime? although we may have a few differences in front camera also a few sensors, but it would still work right? or it will halt from the start because of not a MIDO device?

R4p/markw already has unofficial Los by two developers, and they are pretty stable.

Two completely different phones, screen size, screen resolution and chipset are the main differences!
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=6033&idPhone2=6573
În my opinion it is not a better phone than s5 ....If u take care of your phone you will use an optional case anyway ...so the metal case of alpha is just an discutabile advantage over S5
On alpha u have smaller screen and also smaller resolution which is a huge disadvantage
Also u have no watter rezistant on alpha and no print scanner
And all these for a fu^^ing aluminium bezel ? That's upgrade ? Srsly ?
I know not all (test was not yet)
pros
Much better display calibration (color reproduction)
Better camera (color reproduction)
Perhaps ois
Better SoC
Perhaps better sound
Metall
cons
Worse battery
Smaller dispay
No waterproof

You've posted the wrong link, dude. This is the right one. And I wouldn't go as far as calling them "completely" different.

It does have a fingerprint scanner. And the screen size is a matter of personal preference.

Well display calibration can always be recalibrated through software, same goes for camera.
Metal is also a matter of taste and doesn't automatically make it better. There are situations when metal can cause more damage than protection.
Alpha is pretty much a light version of the S5 sold in a "new & improved" wrapper for people who like iPhones because of the "social status" idea.
It's designed to compete more directly with Apple, I mean it looks more like an iPhone than any other current flagship (except for HTC One ofc).
Ironically, according to studies, most people who buy iPhones are usually below average middleclass (ie poor).

It's completly differenty, the Alpha looks more like a s3 (i9300) the a s5 (g900f/h/s/..) if you're comparing specs by the numbers, ..
It's an other class/segment Samsung placed this phone, by form and specs.

It doesn't look more like an S3 are you kidding me? Segment shmegment it's a light version of the exynos S5 with a newer SoC.
What's the point ? The only part of the phone which u actually can see and feel (alloy ) is bezel only ...The back plate is plastic (as I know ) ...
S5 pros : battery 1800 vs 2800
Display resolution , size and dpi better than alpha
+watter resistant
+posibility of adding an Sd card
Better camera 16mpx ( large 1/2.5-inch sensor) vs 12 mpx
+USB 3.0 vs USB 2.0 on alpha
- android version 4.4.2 vs 4.4.4 ( for now ) we all wait for s5 update ) to 4.4.4
+ ir led ( alpha doesn't have remote tv control )
About procesor I don't know my opinion is that a single quad core with higher freq is better than octa with smaller freq . On the other hand the new alpha processor is 20nm and should not use so much power
The best advantage alpha have is that looks really nice , lighter , smaller + alloy bezels ) I don't know if these really worth
The only thing I hate on my s5 is CHROME BEZELS (that man who had this bad ideea should not work for Samsung anymore ) ) these bezels are ultra sensitive in my opinion ...and because of that I have a protection case ...but if u're gonna use samsung alpha phone with a a protection case is the worst ideea ever )) what's the point then ? Have a really nice looking phone and u re using case
And by the way ...i think alpha looks like an s2

The S5 for me is the better phone, the Alpha is there to fill a piece of the market that Samsung hasn't tapped into, lets say you're on an iphone 5 / 5S and you want something else, a change, but all the main powerhouses are far too big for what you think a phone should be, you want to retain size but yet have the performance that some android handsets can offer, you are left with limited options, the Sony Z1 Compact, the HTC M8 Mini, the Galaxy S5 mini, none of which offer the latest processors or the large amounts of RAM you get from any of the flagships, getting the Alpha will ensure a premium build, fast internal memory and a relative size compared to an iphone, this is Samsung's attempt to steal IOS customers, and in all fairness it'll work, this phone will sell to the people who want the fastest of processors, even though the Exynos is a b*tch to work with in terms of development, people will still buy it as it is quicker than the 801, plus the people who want something more from IOS, not to mention that it's exactly the same screen size as the new Iphone 6, I think it's a smart move.
Alpha and the S5 are pretty much identical.
Exynos Alpha vs. Exynos S5
Snapdragon Alpha vs. Snapdragon S5
:good:
Alpha is more of a low end alternative to the S5. Alpha has low screen resolution and smaller in size with Exynos chipset and Mali GPU as compared to Qualcomm 801 and Andreno 330. All in all S5 is a winner...

[Q] Should I buy the Exynos variant today?

Hello everyone
Long story short, I decided to upgrade and went with an M9 (or three), and each one had a different problem. All of them suffered from light leaks, the last one stuck pixel too. The camera is poor, so I am weighing my options. Coming from a G3, my obvious choice would be a G4 but...BUT !
I have managed to find the Exynos variant of the Note 4 for about 378 pounds, brand new and sealed. My question is (for current users) - would you consider it future proof? Is it still snappy, good, and a good investement for another year or so? Would you recommend it over the G4?
Many thanks
Well, I was in the same boat as you: Wanted to upgrade from my G3 because I had the 2GB variant, it was a lagfest with launcher redraws and apps closing all the time. AOSP had good performance but also had bugs and the camera sucked.
So I found the Exynos Note 4 for a good prince in my area and decided to take the plunge even though I never owned a samsung phone before, and bought it based on the interest I had on the Note II back then and some superficial reviews I've had read about it.
I have absolutely no regrets whatsoever, the Note 4 definitely feels like an upgrade from the G3. It's faster, the screen has better colors and contrast, better visibility in the sun, and touchwiz came a long way from the old days where it was regarded as one of the worst manufacturer skins to android. The note 4 has many features that amazed me, including the best one-hand mode implementation so far.
I say go with it, you won't be disappointed.

If you have a choice NEVER go for exynos ESPECIALLY if you want to root/flash roms later on. If you are fine with stock rom then it doesn't matter which you go for. Just know that stock is a little laggy no matter which variant you go for.
I hated the lag and finally installed CM and am not looking back, you can get SPEN functionality on AOSP roms now too so not really an issue. CM FLIES on note 4, so fast!!!!

Maybe I should've worded my post differently. The snapdragon isn't available in my area, so there was no option of choosing variants. Exynos has no aosp, but SimplRom is pretty fast and yet has all the built in spen functionality.

Welcome to the family my brothers
I have the Exynos version & it's great
I recently got a Note 4 N910C, which is the Exynos model for the EU and I can honestly say that I love it.
I seek a kind advice, I currently have a 2GB G3 and i am looking to upgrade (as i wont have an opportunity to do that in future) Been deciding between an iphone 6plus and note 4, or basically any other big phone. So should i go for a note 4 or a different device? My main concern is if the note will be a solid choise for about 2 years or so.

Get the exynos, the CPU will be cooler therefore you will have no underclock due to high temps like 4 core snapdragon. Also a dev here (sorry i dont remember his name) is working on CM for our phone with exynos chip. But i really don't feel like i need to change the stock samsung rom so bad, some guys here are drowning on a teaspoon of water. Note 4 is one of the best phones atm, go for it.

Jumping from the S5 over to the Note 4 worth it ?

like the title says, i am currently owning the Galaxy S5 , my question is ,
is the Note 4 worth getting when i have a s5 ? i would like to experience the Note phone as i never had one before and i like the spen thingie looks cool.
did anyone here had a s5 and jumped to the Note 4 ?
i dont really want to get the S6 nor the Note 5 mainly due to no Removable back for battery swapping and the use of msd.
yesterday i had sell my s5 for a note 4! it is really better for performance battery camera everything! for me is it a good option!!!

awesome thanks, but how much extra did you pay on top of it ? i think if i sell my s5 in the city here i would barely get 200$ for trade in and would need to pay about 250$ for getting the note 4.
my biggest question is the screen bro,
how is the screen in your eyes??? i saw the note 4 screen from a friend and i didnt like it like MY eyes hurt from looking at it , as it is a QHD display will you get used to it ?? its sooo sharp ,
thanks for the feedback
I sold together with the gear neo 2 so I did not pay anything. an affair!
the screen is much larger of s5, MUCH! and everything is very clear ..sharp! the best display for me. the brightness is very high, to not have problems I keep it to less than half !! if you can buy it!
the memory is 32 gb ..i have 32 micro sd therefore at the top with removably battery!

nice , i am thinking of getting the 910F variant so i can have CM installed on it
thanks for the feedback, so in your opinion it is defintely worth it and it is much better than the s5 in everything ?:fingers-crossed:
I've had s5 for a year and I think it is much better. pictures at night for example are really the best.It is reactive with the TouchWiz !!! good buy!
ps i have 910F european version!
I didn't have an S5 but I did upgrade from a Note 3 to the Note 4.
In my opinion the Note 4 is a fantastic phone- the camera is superb and the screen is face-meltingly awesome.
However, just it can be laggy at times- I'm pretty sure it's a common issue amongst Note 4 users (I have lag and I'm running SimplRom- which in my experience gives the smallest amount of lag in comparison to other custom ROMs I've tried).
The battery life is pretty good too.
Personally I'd make the upgrade but just be warned- there is a fair amount of lag.
Perhaps have a look at review videos etc on YouTube? There's bound to be a comparison video somewhere.
Good luck!

Hmm, difference in performance from your S5 to a SD Note 4 will be very minor. Specially because the display has a higher resolution.
Quite frankly, official 5.1.1 by Sammy is looking glorious. Phone is so ridiculously fast that I find myself playing of opening and closing apps.
I used CM variants at my S3 for 2~3 years straight, but apart from the cleaner look I honestly don't miss anything about it.
If you're dead set on using CM then the 910F is going to achieve daily driver level much sooner, but the 910C is a better device.

i see.. well i like CM alot, i had the Exynos S5 900h and i swapped it with a QualComm 900f, i really dont want to do that again, since the 910c is a Exynos based model, i think there isnt much of a difference personally.. cause i know this from owning the exynos/qualcomm based s5's.
how much do you like the Note 4 ? is it a very fun phone , like more fun than the smaller displays e.g s3/s4/s5 etc. the ones ranging from 4.7'' - 5'' etc. ?
oh and one more thing, how long will it take me to get used to the sharpness of the n4 screen ? the qhd is the thing that hurts my eyes, when i looked at the one from my relative his n4 hurt my eyes, it is non fake , he has the 910h < exynos one.
will my eyes adapt to the huge sharp screen in a matter of days ?

If the redmi really has a 5.5'' display, than you can't compare it in any way to the 1+x. It's just a different segment.
I don't know if it will be way cheaper...
You will have to get the 3GB / 32 GB version to have something good.
The 4000 mah battery is attractive if you use a lot your screen.
I don't know anything about the MediaTek's MT6795 (Helio X10) chipset.
For me, the OPX opponent is clearly the Mi4c.
No stock android or likelihood of stock android due to the MediaTek SoC, also will not support all EU 4G bands so I'm not interested. As already mentioned, it's also too large and it's not confirmed that it will have expandable storage at this time.
I am looking forward xiaomi redmi note 3.

My Device is Samsung Galaxy Note 4 N910C
I will go for Note 4. Is there a big difference between quad core and octa core in note 4 ?
Heres the thing with tbe note 4 vs s6
Note 4 is a much better phone in my opinion. Its a phkne fkr the android enthusiasts who want to really get the most out of their phone hence the big screen and overhauled processer. The octacore has more cores and can run multiple strings but does eat some battery. The big disadvantage if the octacore is that it's only available in the international version.
The problem is that if your phone cracks, lcd goes bad, etc and you wan to replace the digitizer, board etc you have to buy an jnternational version or else it will not work meaning that they are more rare and a bit more pricey
Against the s6, the note 4 has similar specs but youre not really enjoying it on that small screen. And even if youre not a fam of big phones, at least stay away from the horrible seald glass back. Iphone learned from that mistake on their iphone 4 and those things were ugly once cracked. If you want that size of a phone get an lg g4 or an s5.
Back to the note 4. It is an overall well built phone and a beautiful one as well. The so called "phablet" size is something you get used to and it grabs alot of attention to woth the exclusive s pen as well (which is always cool)
Ask more note 4 users though and get their opinions too! ☺☺

Note4 experiance sum and verdict
Became a sucker the other day and bought a Note4 910F to replace my Note3.
Big misstake, why?
Too sum up my experience which includes 48hr of intense working around the phablet, I'm gonna simplify it as best as I can. So this is my verdict.
Cons:
- Battery drainage is a fact.
- All games, even "wheaphones" lag like a *****. The screen is simply too powerful for the chipset which makes all "heavy" games unplayable after 30 min or so. Also 1080p movies begins to freak out after some time because of heat and throttling.
- Bloatware. Hours you have to spend on removing and disabling them.
- No tempered glass covers actually look good, it bubbles up around all the edges because of the beveled screen.
- S Pen apps LAG. Autodesk SketchBook is a nightmare when using some brushes.
- You'll have too tweak in DEV's mode to hospitalize all functions and graphic Sam****s have put years on developing because it don't work fluently.
Pros:
- Beautiful screen resolution and pretty to look at.
- Good camera
- Nice feel too it
- Fingerprint (even though some have reported it too be some cause of the lag)
- Scores VERY VERY well on my tests.
3Dmark score was 1227, and AnTuTu score was 66 822.
- Fluent menus after removing all work sam****s have put in.
It's basically a phone without value from it's maker.
I've gone from first Note to 4. And note 3 is probably the best of them, every model with a different purpose. Note 4 was supposed to be a flagship but if you ask me it's a epic fail as they "DESIGNED" it for Gear VR and gaming! Say what now? They meant the 15-20 minutes you actually can play the game before the phone heats up, drains the battery and throttles in utter dissapointment. Thank you SAM****S, you've become as cheap as Apple's iphone.
Theres alot more I can say, but those points are sure a buzz kill.
Take my advice. Wait for Huawei Mate 8.
My Note4 is no longer with me lmfao. It felt sorry for itself and comitted suicide.
Good luck.

Not sure but check out the review on gsmarena where they review the sound quality. The sound quality was good (compare to my nexus 4) but I bought a usb otg cable anyways so I can use it with my usb dac.
The only con I would say about the note 4 really is the the shiny metal sides can be scratched easily. As other have said, between this phone vs. The LG G4, it really depends on what's more important to you. And the compare would be note 4 snap vs. LG G4 vs. Note 4 exnoys. I would of gotten the G4 if it looked better/more premium , had better battery life, and something that stands out like the spen.
@imeem true that. I mean I have both the G4 and the Note 4 and they are extreemly close in specs and ease of use. If there is no need for the spen though, I would say to get the G4. However the few times you need to write a note down, Samsung outdid themselves on that. Otherwise, take the s pen out of the equation and you have a slightly larger G4 with a physical home buttom
