How to force an APP not updating? - Sprint HTC 10 Questions & Answers

I have a particular APP (Sprint Zone) that I don't want the System or Google Play to auto update for me. However, I still want other APPs to get auto-updated. So I cannot simply turn-off Google Play auto-update.
Is there a method or tool that I can define a list of APPs that won't get updated in any case.
I am rooted.
Thanks.

Sprint Zone (which is now called MySprint) doesn't update through Google Play. It has its own update mechanism.

[Q] Google Play Remote install problems

Since I have updated to 4.2.2 OTA (all Stock) installing Apps using the Google Play website does not seem to really work.
When I click install on play.google.com nothing happens on the phone until I open the Google Play App. Seems like that the service that used to connect to google play regulary does no longer run?
Anyone else seen this?
Related note ... I did the google framework service thing to get it to show the OTA after installing the update my phone did not show up in play.google.com at all until I have installed a random app using the google play app.
Open Play Store and check your auto update settings. Probably you need to enable it.
The autoupdate setting has nothing to do with it; I'm experiensing the same issue, the download starts, but it takes 1 minutes before it starts, even if I have Google Play opened on my phone

It is enabled but not sure how this is related ... I am talking about install / remove didn't test update yet.
OK I have fixed it.
Did Settings -> Apps -> All and Cleared the Data for Google Play and Google Play Services.
Rebooted the phone. Opened Play Store once and now thinks work like as expected.

This is what worked for me:
Go into your device's app manager. Select Google Play app. Click on uninstall updates. This will take it back to the factory setup state. I then had to reboot the device as I initially got a message that Google Play has stopped working when I tried to open the app. After reboot, open Google Play and accept the terms and conditions. This got the install from website issue fixed.

[Q] How to disable play store automatic update?

Is there a way to disable play store from automatically updating? I've already disable auto update in settings, but play store stills updates itself.
I really hate the single panel view of the newest version and want to keep it at its current version without having to uninstall the update everday
Thought I had the solution but doesn't work.

How I got "OK Google Everywhere" back on Kitkat

What I did was download a rooted stock ROM that I was already running (cnk2). I dirty flashed it onto my tmobile s5. Surprise! OK Google Everywhere! This confirms for me that Google has deliberately killed this function on their updates, I don't know of course which updates, but I would guess very possibly the search and Google App itself.
At this point I will continue to use the un-updated Google Apps, and report back on whether this adversely affects my use of the Play Store and so on.
Anyone not using Kitkat may be able to locate a ROM that contains Google Apps old enough not to have been damaged by Google. You of course flash that at your own risk. I was already using a stock ROM and flashed the same exact ROM, original version, over my running system.
If anyone would like, I can list whatever version of system app I am using that you think might be of interest in this situation.
Update
Yesterday my phone was getting really hot and the battery use showed that Google Apps was accounting for 16% of battery usage. I did some googling and found others were having this problem. I decided to see if updating Google play services would make a change. I updated:
Google app
Google play services
Google play store
Google text to speech
Google+
Afterward with testing, I still had Google Now Everywhere. My theory now is that an update of some kind that I have "leapfrogged" in this manner may have caused the loss of Google Now Everywhere. I can go into the Google app, select settings, and under voice/"ok google" detection/ I can still retrain the voice model and select "from any screen".

Apps won't appear in the updates tab of the Play Store

Hi guys.
I thought it was strange not having updates for a while on the Store, so today I checked with a friend of mine and I saw that he had a lot of updates this morning, same apps that I use on my phone.
So I checked manually if there was any updates, but I had no items in the list:
As you can see, my list is completely empty (it says "No update avaible" or whatever... in italian), so I manually searched for an updated app. I tried Instagram and:
The app can be updated... how odd ("Aggiorna" is the italian for "Update"). So I've updated it and it appeared in the list of the up-to-date apps right after.
I erased the data of every single Google app, Google Play Services too, but I had no results.
How can I fix this? It's a pretty annoying thing.
Hi,
Did you use microG?
I have the same behavior with microG.
Or maybe you've restored apps with something like Titanium?
Once you updated the app on play store, future updates for this particular app will be shown on the update tab.
You made all the proper actions to try solving it, I guess.
In Titanium Backup, there's an option for linking apps to the Play Store. Maybe it can help.

notification-google play service wont run until its updated-help?

soo..I just got an unusual notification on my 2019 fire hd10...that the play services wont run until updated? I didn't catch the entire message.
I went into the play store and the notification disappeared.
help?
I had the same thing. I cleared the notification and so far it hasn't appeared again. Everything still works.
Others have reported it, and the popular theory is that it's a harmless bug in the latest version of Google Play Services.

Playstore is not a trusted app
Always make installable copies of all your apps and current updates. The less Playstore the better... it never runs on my 10+ unless I need it.
I trust no one...but my cat. with my cat? I know EXACTLY where I stand at all times with her.

word.
....currently getting groomed by my cat, apparently I need it?
anywho..got the notification AGAIN today, and this time I was actually able to initiate an update.
fortuitous given my tablet just updated the OS today.
I'm seeing this as well on my Fire HD 8 (2020), and it's very concerning.
I've also uninstalled Google Play Services and reinstalled the latest version of Google Play Services from APKStore (you cannot do an in-place upgrade, there's only a "deactivate" button which doesn't work).
The error goes away temporarily, but eventually returns a week or so later.
And we're not alone -- hundreds of complaints on this issue in the Reviews section of Google Play Services on the Google Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.gms&hl=en_US&gl=US
Is this just a temporary bug? Or is it an indication that the little "secret" of sideloading Google Play Store is over, at least if you want to use your Fire to play games requiring Google Play? Wonder if Google and Amazon are finally saying "no more?" I hope not.
...I think the fact most of us are running the play store in manual update only mode is the problem. it cant auto update the play services, and thus coughs up this error?

Playstore will let you know when you go to Playstore if it needs updating. I've package block and run Playwhore on manual update only for over 1.5 years with no problem.
All it's parent apps need to be running at boot up ie Google play Services. You may need to delete and recreate your Google account if it really goes off the rails. Reboot, reboot, reboot...

Thank you. I thought the same thing, so I reset Fire and set Store to auto update everything (except Kindle and Alexa).
Still getting error.
My App Details for Google Play Services shows:
App installed from Google Play Store
version 21.33.13 (100300-393339024)

it was a thought, that said after I was FINALLY presented the option to update the service its not done it again.
also..I've owned FOUR samsung tablets over the years and every single last one of them, without fail, whenever playstore has had an update, I've had to manually initiate the update, it patently REFUSES to do so on its own, and thats AFTER running every troubleshooting known to man AND consulting samsung support.
its an android thing apparently ^^;

did you manually install everything? or use the fire toolbox thingy app?
I ran this guide for my tablet. https://www.androidpolice.com/2021/06/21/install-play-store-amazon-fire-tablet/
I have Google Play Services 21.30.16, so it seems mine hasn't updated since I installed it a few months ago.
How are you getting it to update?

I rarely use Playstore. Updates there are set to wifi only, and wifi is always disabled.
Samsung tech support is useless.
Try googling the error codes.
I use ApkExport to make installable copies of my apps so on a reload no Playstore needed.
You can also use those copies to load other devices... if you want.
I was able to go into the play store and tap on 'update' on the play services.
-shrugs- it worked, thats all I cared about.
Play Store is telling me 21.30.16 is the latest version of Google Play Services and I'm up to date. APK Mirror is showing newer versions, though. Weird.

Thank you! It's Google Play Services, not Google Play Store, that needs updating, right?
I manually installed all four APKs - using the Android Police instructions, too.

Maybe but I'm still using the factory load version of Google play Services on my 10+, no issues.
