Replacement Back? - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey so my 6P has a little damage along the Volume rocker and I was wondering about getting it fixed. Obliviously I would need to get a new back panel and most Im seeing are from China for about $20-$30.... Im a little skeptical on this and have a few concerns... Im also seeing this as a way to change from silver to black sooo.... What ones have people on here used before???
Are these parts generally legit and will fit no problem? What about adhesive to attach it back to the phone??

Hello,
Try this site:
https://www.parts4repair.com/
Should fit without issues. Otherwise try eBay. Search for someone who sold a lot of them and check his rep...
I don't know for the N6P, i never opened mine. But on my N6, the replacement back cover already had a new adhesive inside. Wait for confirmation on the N6P or ask the shop/seller...
Good luck...

Hey I found a thread on here where most of the people were saying to avoid it. What other sites sell cellphone parts??

Parts4repair or eBay?
Why not just Google "Nexus 6p back cover replacement" ?
Cheers...

Where can i get a replacement XDA2 fascia?

Had my XDA 2 (hima) for a few years now and it's starting to look a little worn out.
Anyone know where i can pick up a replacement fascia (casing) for it?
I'm looking for authentic ones if possible but would settle for a really good 3rd party one as well. Tried ebay but so far no joy.
Also, if anyone happens to know where i can find a black version of the fascia, please post up. TBH I'm a little sick of the silver version (and black would go really well with the slidelock app)

This is what you are looking for on eBay:
Item N0: 220128539576
Hi,
i bought at ebay xda 2(i) dummys, cause the case is the same. It's the second time i do it and it works very well.
The dummy case is 100% the same like the original xda.
A dummy is a xda without electronic inside for showing it in the o2 shops.
The last dummy I have bought for only 1,- Euro at ebay germany.

Wizard parts, where to buy

im looking for someone to direct me to a place where i can get parts for my Wizard..
I dropped my phone the other day, and the power button seems to have broken off the circuit board, this has happened before as well i just resoldered itmyself, but it has come to the point where the leads are about to fall off the switch..
And recently i also ended up breaking the rocker switch thats required to adjust volume on the phone and the speaker.
I need a place to get those 2 switches.. anyone have any idea where to look!!
thought about a new phone, but i just cant live without a touch screen and keyboard now i want my wizard back up and working
Thanks
First...help save my phone is the LAST thing you want to type if you want help. We will post simply to tell you to read the damned stickies. I am assuming then, that your phone was not insured. If it was in fact insured, it probably can be replaced using insurance, or I'd suggest ebay or craig's list. Good luck finding parts.
whoa sorry man.. i was just having a little fun.. didn't mean to be demanding there or anything..
I did have a look in some of the stickies, and faqs infact i posted in the buy sell trade broken thread too.. i thought id just ask again if anyone has had any luck buying parts from other sources..
Yes it is not insured..
and HTC america doesnt seem to have the parts.
that's all no need to get angry.. i apologize for my topic
I apologize...I was not angry, I simply was trying to say that we get so many "help..." threads, that often they get passed over, or looked at simply for us to say RTF stickies. I think you will get a better chance of help for parts if you topic'd it as such.
I still think that barring the busted wiz thread, ebay or craig's list would be your best bet. Also, you may check HoFo...they used to have a thread for folks selling busted devices.
oh ok... sorry about that then
yeah ive ben making the nightly rounds on hofo, craigs rfd, ebay not much luck the ones people are selling are working condition lol and a good chunk of change. I guess ill keep scouring.. if i find nothing i might just head over to a few small electronic shops and se if i can find a different switch to replace it with..
honeslty i was checking out a few other phones, and for those on a budget, feature wise you just cant beat the wizard. i dont think i could ever go back to a non touch screen phone.

Spares for the Athena, anywhere?

Can anyone lead me to where to find a spare enclosure (not an external case).
The one that holds the whole thing together. Ok I need some help here to find the right term
My Athena fallen and I now got a bent Athena. An art piece I'm sure, but rather have it back to its shape, you know?!
So does anyone know where to find spares?
why dont you take a picture so we could see what exactly you need
Will need to find a mirror as it is the only camera I have
Anyhow I just find what it is. Is the SHELL. The black aluminum shell.
Is anywhere to be found it as a spare?
Thank you

Thank you.
I ordered the spare casing. Will post how it goes....
Sorted!!
I have received the casing, followed instructions and I now have a bright new Athena
The only bad thing is that the camera button and the volume sliders are missing from the replacing casing. and the camera button is a nightmare to take it over from the old one.
If anyone needs assistance with replacing the casing, just PM and I'll do my best to help.
So which did you get in the end, the brando one?
I'm contemplating doing mine at some point, it's pretty scarred.
I did go for the brando and it took about a week to receive it in Scotland.
The instructions are quite easy to follow, but the tools are a must, specially the flat tool to push the parts open. I got mine here when I repaired my powerMAC a few weeks ago.
does someone know where to get a new digitizer? my one is broken (the LCD itself is still fine) and I ordered this one. But they refunded me my money and said they are out of stock
Any suggestions?
Try the brando website.
It looks like they have a lot of spare parts...
If you can't find it, try to contact them, I got a few parts not listed this way.
Good luck

You can try here
http://www.gpsmidlands.co.uk/index.php?category=Pda Digitisers
but this is £90 of her majesty money
the one in your ebay link for £19 is unbelievable, are they for real?
Regards
they said they are out of stock but they promised to contact me if they get some "digitizer-only"
currently they only have full LCD screens for £150
as far as I can see the dealer seems to be realiable...

BATTERY COVER CRACK! Have you got one Too???

Hi everybody ,
I haven't been around in a while. I just wanted to point out that some people have noticed a small crack on the back case of the sapphire , HTC magic etc. where the mesh is up the top......
I noticed it and others have on another forum , so i thought it might be a good idea to see if you have it too???
Just wondering if anyone on here had the same problem??
So no one else has this problem?
Nope mines fine, treat it better

LOL , I treat mine like royalty
I thought i would bring it up as users of the vodafone UK Forum board have raised this issue that a number of people have this problem. It seems Like a design fault
Have a read through hear
http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=26511
Good to hear you have not got it though , The HTC MAGIC is a BEAUTIFUL piece of kit
I have exactly the same crack on the back case of my Vodafon DE
Strange isn't it , Definetly a manufacturers fault
Be warned , it could get larger! As seen in the forum link posted above there is a picture.
According to vodafone , to get it repaired you have to send it off using the repair process which takes about 5 days !!
All to get the case replaced

That's still probably acceptable for many. The people in the link said that it keeps getting bigger and bigger. You're better off looking for a point in time where it would optimal for you to send it off. Then you can give yourself some leeway instead of having to do it as the massive crack in the back of the case demands.
Wow, I just checked mine and I have one too! Never noticed that before! I've had mine a couple of weeks and have looked after it like a baby. Maybe it was there from the start but it's so tiny I didn't notice.
mine got no crack
Mine has the tiniest of cracks but I'm not going to send it off to Vodafone to get fixed. As soon as it launches as the myTouch 3g in the USA aren't they going to be selling new back fascias anyway with designs etc? I think I'll just pick one up on the cheap on ebay when it comes to it getting horribly bad
wowo~~~~mine is ok, and I had used for around two monthes already.

This makes the most sense. Hell, even just buy an OEM cover...I don't see what the big deal is!

[Q] Just looking for some advice on a cracked screen...

So, my 32GB 2012 Nexus 7 fell from my desk today. About a 3 foot fall and now has a small set of cracks in the bottom right corner of the screen. I actually thought the digitizer was dead as well because it would not respond, but I rebooted the device and it still responds. I guess I "lucked out" with the position of the crack as well since it is on the bezel and does not interfere with anything on the screen besides the recents button on the nav bar.
Still, I am kind of meticulous when it comes to keeping my devices in tip top shape. Seeing that crack, even though it doesn't interfere with anything I view, kind of makes me either want to fix the device or get a new one. At the same time, I am thinking the former may not even be worth it. On eBay and Amazon, the cheapest I've seen a Digitizer/LCD combo was $99.99 + shipping.
The point of this post is just to gain some others opinions if they were in my situation. Would you buy a LCD/Digitizer to fix the device? Would you just use the device as is, ignoring the small crack in the bottom right corner? Would you say screw it and use it an excuse to get the 2013 Nexus 7? Or is there some other option that I'm not thinking of?
Also, I figured I'd ask here to see if anyone either has a broken Nexus with a good LCD/Digitizer that they'd like to sell or know where to get one cheaper than $100.

We aren't you and everybody is different. Why ask us what we'd do? You're gonna do what you want to do in the end anyway.
This is no different than all the should I buy ______ threads.
Sorry, but its a silly thread. so I was being silly.

I'm asking for an opinion...I'm just curious to see what others would do in this situation.
And I also thought this might be a good place to find if anyone knows of cheaper alternatives to finding replacement lcd+digitizers. Who knows, someone could have a bricked 2012 N7 that could sell me the device for the digitizer+lcd.
