is it worth it to get AKG headphone and 256gb card for $100 more? - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

is it worth it to get AKG headphone and 256gb sd card for $99?

Well the street price of the 256GB EVO+ microSD is $200 and the headphones is $150 so if you actually want either of those it's good value. If you want both it's great value.

Got mine ordered, said would ship after the 20th - thought it was a good deal.

If I HAD 100$ I mightve... but I dont. So went for the free option. Didnt want to take the risk of waiting even a day to submit this and they run out or have a larger delay due to 1st submitted, 1st approved.
Now I may try to call them after the start of the month if I could upgrade. However for me. This is NOT a major thing. Imagine you losing a 256GB card.... thats quite a bit of loss. I have a 64GB now, which isnt full at all. Add that to internal memory and I would be fine. Even with my emulators.

i think its a awesome deal..the card and headphones alone

depend if you need it. the phone already have 64gb build-in, plus i already have 64gb microSD. that' enough for me. plus i also already have wired headset. that' why i didnt get the 99$ offer.

Yes, at $99, they are amazing value. Go for the deal.

IMO, definitely worth it if you have the spare change.

Like everyone else said it's a great deal if can spare the money. I was looking at 128GB cards which were coming to around $60-70 anyways. So I figured what the hell I can spare $30~ more and double the capacity and get the headphones too.
Put in another way, the cheapest brand new microSD card on Amazon right now is selling for $160, so if you don't really need it, you might as well get it any re-sell both the items.

As long as you have the money, definitely. For what you're paying for, each item ALONE is worth over $100 a piece. You can always sell the part you don't want, to make back the money... and then some. I've been considering it for the microSD card alone, as I've honestly never been a huge fan of over-the-ear headphones.
That, and I don't currently have an microSD card since my S6 doesn't have a microSD slot. Got the 64GB version and I'm almost out of space, big part because of the amount of pics/vids I take, so a huge SD card would be nice.

Yes

the memory card itself cost more than 200 so get it as soon as you can. You may regret if you don't, trust me.

You're way too late. The bundle sold out yesterday if you weren't one who preordered on samsung.com.

It is fair to the individuals that took a risk and ordered the device before any real reviews were released.

I did pre order it. But Best Buy released today

If you need that much space and need an ok pair of cans - id say yes but please keep in mind you can find the card for 30 to 40 bucks cheaper elsewhere and equivalent cans for less.
The resale for both will also be closer to 200 as no one is buying those cans for 150.

16GB MicroSD - Start of October

Just pre-ordered one. Finally!

Unbelievable!!
Where is the end?
Started with Apple ][ some 30 years ago and bought an extra 16KByte(!) memory for 500 euro.
So, in those days 16 GB would have cost me 500 million euro?
Huib
32GB is supported by the protocol. I expect the first 32GB somewhere near or after Xmas.
I bought a 8 gb sdhc....it's enough...
at least.... 4 now! ghehe
Since I want to eliminate my iPod nano which in turn eliminated my last USB stick (yes I use iPod nano ALSO as a USB stick), 16GB would be welcome.
I think 8GB is enough for most of us...
Or 4GB, if we trust HTC (and the Diamond).
Or 640KB according to a young Bill Gates.
Been waiting for these for ages, look forward to their release soon-ish. Will need two, once for my Touch Pro and one for my N82. Hope the price isn't too heinous initially, but I suppose that doesn't matter since I'll buy them ASAP in any case...

Not too bad really, just over double an 8GB so I guess the price will fall yet.
Wow, thats good as a first release price if it holds. Usually the cost of a doubling in storage is quite disproportionate.

well if the rumors of a 32 gb by christmas are true this will really drop in price soon. I kinda wish technology would stall for a little bit so I could actually buy something without deciding to wait on the next one with twice as much memory hahaha

[UPDATE]my best buy said the 32gb Galaxy note 10.1 was deleted from system. no 32gb

So I've debating switching up to the 32gb version. When I got my note, they only had 16gb in stock. They said to check on Tues. And Thurs as that's when they get in new shipments. So I called today to see if 32gb came in yet. The girl checks her computer and she tells me the 32gb version has actually been deleted from their system. Meaning they will not carry it. I guess they will only carry 16gb version.
Has anyone actually purchased a 32gb from Bestbuy? Or has anyone heard anything like I described? Strange that it would be deleted since its so new. I'm skeptical that she is correct. If she is right, I now have to decide whether I keep the 16gb version or go get my money back. Then find another brick & mortar store that sells the 32gb. I like BB return policy though. Which states I have 30 days to exchange or get a refund if I wish. I paid in cash so I'd want a cash refund. Store credit wouldn't be any good if they never plan to carry 32gb.
What other B&M stores are carrying the 32gb note 10.1?
8/24 UPDATE:
Well I came to the conclusion that 16gb wasn't enough. So I just returned my 16gb to best buy and had them order me the 32gb version. Its deep gray. I really wish they had the white one in that size. They only had gray. The difference I had to pay for uprade in storage space was $52. It will arrive by 8/30 to that best buy location. Didn't want to take any chances having it delivered to my residence and the delivery people leave it sitting outside my door..lol
I got tired of seeing my storage space decrease fast and I haven't even really begun to install everything I want. Games take up the most room. Nova3 alone is almost 2gb. I have alot of great games THST I paid for already that I want to install. Like Broken Sword for example. So me getting 32gb will give me more than enough room to store my games and movies I download. I can easily fill up the 32gb also but at least I have more to work with initially. 16gb out the box equates to only 11gb storage left to use. Didn't want to have to resort to deleting stuff constantly to make room. Then I eventually want to root and flash device. So the backup will take some space also. I'm managing my 16gb Nexus 7 well but I don't need so much installed on it. As its my more portable device and only needs the best and essential apps.
Well my wait begins. I'm posting this from my Nexus 7. I miss the Note 10.1 already lol. I'm ready for 8/30 to hurry up and get here. It'll be here either next wed. Or before. Plenty of time to keep reading up on things and to find a good case.

So does this mean you are giving up on the infinity? Not trying to be a ball buster, actually value your opinion. You have been ASUS biggest supporter when they needed one and now it looks like you are going to the dark side ( or the bright side depending on how you look at it). I trully cannot decide if I should keep my infinity or not. I have definitively said I was keeping the infinity twice and everyday I wonder if I am doing the right thing, especially as I hear how JB is just a big a mess on the 300t as all the prime issues.
So, what is your call? Is the Note the way to go and does the screen resolution really make a difference?
Why pay 50 bucks more for a 32 when you can buy a 32 GB sdcard for under 50 bucks and have 48?

Because you can't store installed app data on sdcard anymore. On older android versions you could but no longer. So it's not like if I have 0 internal memory left and 32gb SD card, I'd be able to install a 1gb+ game. It won't let you install it into microsd card. So once you run out of internal memory on tablet, you can no longer install apps and games unless you delete other stuff you have on internal memory.
I know I can store my movies and such on memory card, but I cant install new apps and games on tablet once internal memory is used. It won't matter if i have 32gb sdcaRd :
They won't sell the 32GB instores for some reason, only the 16GB. You can purchase it from their website. Yeah I know, its not the same, and not ideal.

Fry's Electronic

.I'M in the testing phase of this tablet ATM. I was impressed by the pen feature plus wanted to see exynos 4 quad core performs. As it's CPU and gpu is more powerful than tegra3. Tegra3 still a great Social btw so I already know how the infinity would be. Basically a more powerful prime with 1080P screen. So I said why not test out the note first. Since I bought it from BB, I have 30 days to try it out. If I DONT like it I can always get a refund or exchange for infinity pad.
As for which I would recommend, that's depends on what matters most to you. If you bought your infinity from BB, try out the Note 10.1. If you don't like it, take it back and get another infinity. I do know jb is coming for infinity. I would pay those threads much mind on how its performing on the 300. I'm sure jb is performing much better than previous ICS version. As jb on my nexus 7 is flawless. Which also is a tegra3 tablet. I have seen the threads on different issues with infinity like the I/o. Although update improved it.it didn't completely solve it. I can only go off what I read on their forums since I don't own an infinity. Or at least, possibly, not yet
How is your device performing? If it performs fine, you just may be suffering from wanting the newest latest tech..lol. if you having issues, give the Note 10.1 a try. IVE been very impressed with its build, performance, and display. No complaints and not a single ANR since I had it. This processor is very fast and battery life is great on this. This device will get better battery life than infinity pad. Based on what I read people reporting on infinity battery life. As for will the display resolution difference be a factor, I doubt it. Although this has the same resolution as prime, this tablet display looks slot better. The color reproduction and other stuff looks so much better. So for me, it looks good enough. It's a great display and makes the games look better. I noticed the difference playing nova3. The images and everything pop out more. It is a 720P display. Which is HD. Just not full HD(1080P). I've seen alot of people here saying they exchanged their infinity pad and ipad3 for this device and hardly notice difference in resolution. They were impressed with display.
I still support Asus as my experience with them was good. Which is why I bought a Google/Asus Nexus 7. Very impressive device also. So just because I have a note 10.1, doesn't mean I switched sides. Just testing the waters. Plus I always heard Samsung being thrown around as good quality. So I wanted to see for myself how it performs. Which admittedly, performs very well. Exceeds my expectations on it so far. I forgot to add, this tablet has the best stereo speakers on any tablet. Sound is amazing on this. True stereo separation, bigger speakers, and Wolfson audio equate to very rich, loud, and impressive sound coming from this tablet.
Final verdict: try it out. If you don't like it or not impressed, just return it and get another infinity pad. Nothing wrong with testing out other devices.

Thanks.very strange why they won't sell those in stores. Ill see how my memory goes during this 30 day refund period. I have alot of games previously purchased THST I'd love to install and try out on this display with stereo speakers. These more intense games now take up to 1-2gb of storage space. So it'll take no time to Max out 16gb. I remwber I was running low on space with my 32gb prime..lol. some games I can't install on this because they are tegra3 games.
Out of the box, a 16gb note 10.1 only has 11gb of free storage left. Even now I only have 7-8gb free storage left. I haven't even scratched the surface of all the apps n games I want to install on here...lmao.
Thanks again for the list.

Edit: they still sold out online and shows not available for store pickup. Well I have 20 something days to decide if ill need more internal space(for games & apps) or not.

How much would you pay for developer edition

Verizon 64gb with two batteries. New screen and fresh developers flash, new speaker. Basically new phone tempered glass installed with extra glass. Spiegen hybird case blue as well as 64gb SD card. Oh and see view folding cover.
Just trying to get an idea if I decide to sell.
Oops typo it's got 32gb internal 64 gb external. Oh and please let's not turn this into what phone ate you getting note 5 bashing thread.
I don't think a case or a screen protector really adds any value to a sale unless they are new in box. You're really only selling the phone and the extra memory is a little bonus. Who wants to use a used case or a used screen protector that has somebody else's greasy fingerprints embedded in it? Let's be honest, memory cards are cheap anyhow. That being said, it's a rarer phone that is hard to come by and you are including two batteries. If anybody is paying more than 700, They are getting ripped off. I wouldn't pay more than 600 if I were in the market for it.
Of course, if you're listing on Swappa, you have to up the price to cover the buyers fee, the shipping and the 2.9% Paypal fee. So add that to the dollar amount too. (For examples, my regular Note 4 is listed on CL for 55 bucks cheaper than it is on Swappa.)
Ok $600 for just the phone and batteries. I do have to disagree with no value for memory card. If the person doesn't have one they CERTAINLY would need to buy one. Just my thought.

True, but it's not like they are that expensive. I paid ten bucks for a 32GB Sony Class 10 Micro SDHC. I added mine in and did word it like it's a great bonus hoping that whomever buys it will agree and not just look up the price on Amazon. LOL
I wouldn't give more than 450 for a DE. I pick up perfect condition note 4's the last 2 month's for 300 and 325. As weak as verizon development is I couldn't picture 6 and 700 for a used, abused and repaired Note 4 DE... just saying even if it looks new, but have replaced speaker, and being a De, it's been worked and not been babied And I agree with the other guy, cases, screen protectors don't mean much to most. Also if you research you can pick up class 10 64gb cards for 30 to 35 bucks. Hell, I picked up a SanDisk 128gb for 80.00 a month ago.
Just my 2 cents!
Ok we got $600 or $450 without the goodies. Average $525 so far.
I'd do 450 because I'd rather have the note 4 than anything else new or old today. But it depends on the buyer, and how much they're willing to spend on a year old phone with no official support from Samsung or indie devs
I have a DE, but if mine broke, I'd honestly pay up to $800 for another one mint

If I was in the market for DE I would go as far as $600 for a mint one. Even that is a bit of a stretch for a year old phone with little support. I'm happy with the phone I currently have and have no desire to downgrade but I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in.
Unless the retail gets root the VZW will not see much dev support. The dev edition would lose it's value if the retail got root. I say it's time to sell your dev edition while it's inflated value survives. With the Nexus and LG phablets coming soon the N4 will soon be a outdated and forgotten phablet. Timing is everything.

Interesting perspective, but the value is there because it's a supported device for android 6.0 with everything you could possibly love in a phone. As long as the resale value will be above $400 for at least another year, a DE holder should still ultimately profit or at least break even by not purchasing a $600+ phone this year and seeing what the next wave brings.
You need to check out the last page of this thread.
Look at all these people trying to lowball a guy offering to sell a Note 4 DE.
Meawhile this guy threw his up on Swappa for $1100.

Black Friday Deals or Amazon Ad-supported Variants?

i would like to get g4 plus for wife, what's the chapest way to do that? do you think they'll have black friday deal? can amazon ad supported version rooted unlocked and flash with custom rom?

There is no amazon-sponsored Plus.
There is an Amazon "exclusive" one. As you can see here, at least in uk: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Motorola-Moto-Plus-SIM-Free-Smartphone/dp/B01GZZKDHI
Not sure if it will go any cheap. I am about to pull the plug on that deal. Just not sure if worth it. It has less ram and less storage (storage not a big issue as it can be upgraded) but Ram kinda has me concerned? Ayone care to chime in
If you're in the US, BestBuy has refurbished Moto G4 Plus for $200 (16GB memory, 2GB RAM) or $240 (64GB, 4GB RAM). The 64/4GB model dropped to $190 twice in the recent months, so maybe it'll drop again. Keep checking the site. That's how I got mine. BestBuy's refurbished phones don't include the original box, manual, USB cord, and turbocharger. Instead you get a generic box, cord, and charger.
Awesome, maybe I will get another Plus from BestBuy, even refurbished...
Let's see what's up on Black Friday
No?

It's probably too late now but on the storage, it can and can't be upgraded. Even using an SD card for storage you will still see a lot going to internal. Using the SD as internal is sort of like smoke and mirrors, you have that storage but you really don't. You really can't beat more internal if you can afford it.
AAHHHHHHHHH too late to grab the G4 Plus at motomaker, do you think they'll have another sale on Monday? Want custom back and engraving......
Turns out you must have US address + US credit card to order from Motomaker

2GB RAM vs 4GB RAM? (US Model)

I realize this question has been asked before, but since the phone has been out for a while since the last thread I found I figured people who've been using it for a long time might have some more insight.
Do you think 2gb is worth it compared to 4gb? I don't game on my phone, but I do multitasking rather heavily (social media, a couple chrome tabs, sms, music, etc. Open at a time).
To complicate it a little further, I had the 4GB variant of this phone before, but broke it :'( and I am looking for a replacement. Typical price for 2GB/4GB is still $229/$300 respectively, but lately some great deals have popped up for the 2GB version. A local store by my is selling 2GB version for $190 right now. I haven't found any decent deals on the 4GB version, but I figure with deals this month there will be some at lower price.
Tl;Dr: should I buy the 2GB version for $190, spend the $300 for 4GB, or wait for better deal on 4GB version?
Appreciate any opinions or insight, especially from people who have been using the 2GB Moto G5+
Just get the 4GB... Better resale value if anything, if you're going to keep it for years, then even more of a reason to not be cheap about it. Besides, I've been seeing it for $250 recently. I bought mine at BB 6 months ago for $240ish.

Hmm, alright I'll probably just keep an eye out for sales. I haven't seen any like that tho, everywhere right now seems to have 2gb cheap but 4gb still at 300. Thanks for the input.

I would agree with previous response, 4GB or skip it for someone other than the casual user, which you don't seem to be... You will get lots of app closures/re-opening while task swapping with 2GB ram, next to none with 4GB.
The 4GB version goes on sale from time to time at around $250, although at full retail I might look at something else.
Honestly, if price is such a factor... Look at the E4 Plus which regularly sells about $170, 5.5" screen, 2gb ram, 32gb storage, 5000mAh battery.
Don't know if this is legit or not, but...

I have the 2gb version. I love it. No issues with ram and such. I had the s7edge before this and it is almost the same if not better switching between apps/ battery life than that phone. Maybe just my rom/kernel. I would just get the cheaper one. Save your money, I'm done spending way too much on phones. I was looking at that E4 tho.....I want a 5000mah battery....

G5s is out and aside from camera it's basically identical, so $219 sounds very realistic. Unfortunately, it's why I'm probably switching to another brand. Motorola (lenovo) hasn't been good with real updates, and they keep saturating their own product lines every 6 months, which means it can only get worse...
The U11 can be bought for $400, as well as, Essential (although essential is iffy brand right now).
Thanks for all the replies guys. I ended up going with the 4GB version after finding it for $225 US. I had looked at the E4+, and would definitely have considered it if it came with a little more powerful processor option.
For anyone looking for a good deal on the 4GB model, Newegg is selling it for $225US and that comes with a free Bluetooth speaker and free shipping option! Speaker is probably not great, but I thought that was a great deal after not finding a much of anything under $300 for the past couple weeks.
