I have been in touch with many moto g users and software development team behind moto g who did a tremendous job making the very awesome aosp android pure look stock rom with maximum optimization with respect to performance and battery life.
It is the only stock rom ever made in history with maximum optimizations and tweaks to perform the best and better battery backup optimization.
I hope if we could port this pretty neat and awesome ROM to our beloved Nexus4 coz nexus deserves better.
I request all developers to take a look into it and discuss the possibilities and complications if any for this great innovative step in Nexus development.
I hope majority of nexus users support this initiative.

I have also used a Moto G and I can't really say the stock ROM on a Moto G is any better than a stock ROM on the Nexus 4. Then again, I just use my phone for browsing the web, email, text, and phone calls. No games, video, or audio playback.

I hope you didnt compare the performance on one on one basis. The exact milliseconds to make a call from the moto g vs Nexus4 has a difference. The exact milliseconds to power on, and power off a moto g vs Nexus4 has a difference. The moto g has a lot optimized stock rom compared to ours. The moto g battery backup is also very efficient due to the highly optimized stock rom apart from their energy efficient soc they have.
If anyone could compare each and every aspect of the moto g stock rom vs Nexus4 stock, it is a highly visible change over performance and battery.

So...after 4 months with the Verizon version, I'm making what I call a "lateral"transfer to the LG G2. Specs are becoming moot. The G2 offers a lot, the battery being a big factor.
Did anyone else let go of there Moto X 2014?

I'll never let go of the Moto X, best phone ever made. I always sell my old devices to pay for my new ones, but that's not gonna happen this time around. This bad boy is going in the museum when I upgrade.
A friend just got the G3 as there was some issue getting the Moto X (corporate account). It's a great phone, but I wasn't a big fan of their software overlays. Plus cell radio quality is a big factor for me and the Moto X has better radio/antenna system. Camera on LG is noticeably better, but still not good enough if it is low light and something I really care about. Nice that it has removable battery and SD card, but have really never needed either.
And I do like the Moto X add ons... if they'd only get 'Attentive Display' working on Lollipop!
I'm finding that the battery isn't holding up long term.I need more. It's great for what it does, but it's a legitimate step back. It's rather disappointing.

Attentive display seems to be working quite well in the newest lollipop build (5.0.1) that was just released for Telus in Canada.

Its the best phone for who dont have an att branded device. I cant unlock it and dont have lollipop.. Next time i will pay more for a pure.
The moto x series is really a breakthrough, this phone is (the) smartphone, I spent an hour or two receiving and responding to messages and calls without touching it not to mention other genius features which are hardware dependent.
Cons: no sd card and no easily removable battery
Pro: everything else

The battery life is really bad, and has gotten worst. Even with Lollipop, which made it better, I'm not happy. As much as I love the speed of the phone, the battery is killing me hard! The G2 will give me near similar speed with much better battery, not to mention greater storage. This may be on Swappa soon...
I went from a nexus 5 to a G3 to now the moto X² PE and won't give this up unless something crazy comes out or the X³ arrives.
I have not had any battery issues with this phone as I consistently get 4.5 hrs SOT with 12+ hours total. I will say that the camera on the G3 was much better, but the moto X isn't horrible. And the hands free/voice actions with this phone are second to none.
That's just my humble opinion though.
As someone on Verizon, this phone is BY FAR the best available. No bloatware other than AcDisplay and some nice Moto things that make the phone better. Coming from a GS3 and a Galaxy Nexus (switched after my GS3 cracked), this phone is a god when it comes to battery life. I consistently get three, if not four hours of SoT per day. This phone already has lollipop and had it before some Nexus devices got it, and some flagships still don't have it, let alone on Verizon. The only thing not so good is the camera, but it gets the job done fine as long as there's good lighting. If I had the choice (unlocked cell service), I would still choose the OnePlus One, but I didn't have a choice.

I'm on Verizon, and you must not have used a G3 or the Turbo at all. The LG skin is light (I come from Samsung) and the Turbo is the X beefed up.

The Turbo looks great on paper, but the actual device is only so-so. I spent a good deal of time with one and walked away unimpressed. The X has FAR better build quality, is as fast if not faster (no QHD screen to waste resources on) and was generally smoother. Sure the turbo has better battery life, but my X easily lasts through the day and then some so it's a non-issue. The G3 is ugly, the skin is still pretty bad, and it is underpowered for the screen it has. Aside from the N5, everything LG puts out is just meh. People need to stop looking at only specs, they don't matter nearly as much as they used to. That said, the X still provides the best user experience out of any phone on the market, and that is what's important.

My feelings exactly. I really, really didn't like how the Turbo was built and even though the G3 build in my opinion is sleek, it's nothing special compared to the X. I've never used either phone as a daily driver, so I may not be the best one to judge it, but the Moto X is blazing fast with "good enough" features that work for me as a user who just wants to get through the day being able to use features like Google Now, something I was never able to keep on with my previous phones. The experience of the X is perfect for an everyday user, like most people are, and in my opinion that's what matters most in a phone. Again, I may have bias as this is my only phone I have been using.

Well, from the beginning of time until now, numbers haven't lied. That's not up for debate. But with user experience..I have to install nova launcher on the X because stock is lacking. The G2 (which I'm going to) offers equal speed. A smaller os, better battery and excellent build all while being a year older. The X while being customizable is just not enough for a power user.

I never said numbers lie, but they aren't always representative of the actual experience that the phone provides. If numbers meant everything, than the iPhone would have the worst battery life and performance of any smartphone out there, but that couldn't be farther from the truth. The same applies to the X. While the Turbo has better numbers, the X has the better UX. I don't see how the X isn't enough for a power user, I'm the very definition of a power user and it is pretty much everything I can ask for in a smartphone, with storage being the sole exception. Who cares if you have to put Nova launcher on it? That has no bearing on the quality of the phone itself. At least it doesn't have a nasty UI like the G2 does, even Nova cant save it from LG's hideous software, not to mention the plastic fantastic build. But everybody is entitled to their own opinion. If you think the G2 will serve your needs better, than that's wonderful. For me, the X is where its at.

and i'm confused between nexus 5 and moto x(2014) ?
i personally like pure vanilla aosp and this both have almost same though moto has some modification i don't think it will impact badly on performance ( does it? )
i love N5's fast update smooth performance even with some hardware compromises
but on other has moto x have better SD801 , and GUP freq 578 (vs 450 on N5) { will gaming performance be better ? } which in theory make it batter performance so if any anyone here can tell it's really an upgrade or i won't feel anything better
finally i like amoled but read somewhere that amoled pannel on moto x is worst qauily that samsung can make (really ?!!) , othere thing about camera ppl says it's 13MP is not as good as 8MP of N5 !! ( is it right ? ) and moto don't have notification led & OIS ( while taking pictures only does it matter ? )
so need your view should i go for moto X of stick again with relibale N5 ? will moto x be really upgrade ?
and how's lollipop on moto X ? ( i really like lollipop so hoping bugfree )

old generation phone vs new one. I really have no doubt which one to buy between 2 candidates.
maybe take a look to lg products or htc but don't make a step into the past.

I have and use both of those phones regularly and while the N5 is still a beast of a phone, the Moto X is easily the better of the two. The software mods that Motorola has done don't affect performance at all, and actually go a long way to making the Moto X what it is. Moto Display and Moto Voice are game changers. Gaming performance is great on both devices but slightly better on the Moto X. I can't say anything about lollipop because I don't like it at all and am keeping all my devices on KitKat indefinitely. If you get the X, which you should, make sure you buy the Pure Edition or at least one that's not branded by a carrier who doesn't allow bootloader unlocking. You need that unlockable bootloader in order to be able to root the phone.
As mentioned, I'm a Nexus 4 owner. My phone has developed hardware problems though, and I'm looking at replacing it -- mainly focusing on the Moto G and E.
I'm not a hardcore phone user; other than communications mostly use it for music (Google, Pandora, Youtube), light reading, occasional surfing in line, and a single non-graphics intensive game. I also use my phone to double as a camera when I'm out walking and something cool comes up though, which is the main reason I'm considering the G over E. Price isn't a huge issue, but I don't see the need to buy some fancy $600 phone for my light use.
All that said, I'm not on a contract, and was wondering about the OS/experience/apps on the G/E. I've only ever been a Nexus owner, because I wanted to avoid carrier/manufacturer stuff. How easy/feasible is it to get to a version of the latest stock Android OS without any Motorola/etc. stuff on the phone -- essentially, to replicate my basic 4 interface/experience? How far behind are G OS updates behind stock Android updates? Is there any general timeline for how much longer it will continue to be updated?

I Guess "The G" Will do Good for you....Provided you don't multi-task a lot.
There are also some Proper Exposure problems in Camera.But surely Its the Best out there in this Price range ( Except for some Phones like OnePlus One etc. but they too have their own Cons)
Regarding Updates to Android I Guess CyanogenMod 12.1 Is Good(If you want Pure Nexus Experience without Moto Stuff) but also If you prefer I guess even Stock might be Good and Stable.The CM ppl are doing a Good job in delivering Speedy Updates .The Moto G got updated to 5.1.1 really soon after the Source got released. Overall a really Good phone to Own.I think as per the Developer activity on the Phone the Moto Will receive Android M upgrade too .... Would Definitely recommend this Phone....
I also came from a nexus 4, which developed a dead touchscreen area...
The only thing I hate on this phone is the 1 gb of ram
I don't know about stock, because I always install cyanogen on the first day

I had a N4 back to 2014.
Comparing to Moto G2, I dont notice much diference based on my light usage.
Cameras, display, battery life, speakers are better on G.
Performance, 2GB of RAM and design ( omg Nexus 4 is the sexiest phone ever) are pros for N4.

I also came from N4. The only disadvantage is the RAM. All the rest is better on G.
I'm also eyeing on Moto G over Nexus 4 specially the dual sim version, i will use it only as back up phone, i already sold my Redmi 1s, i prefer stock android with fast OS updates.

LG G3 - A yesteryear "FLAGSHIP"
MOTO X PLAY - A newer "MIDRANGER"
Hope you know what to expect from these respective devices.
Hi had 2 g3 superb phone specially the 4k screen but battery poor
Moto x play superb battery and performance
However the G3 let's you choose which apps go full screen no soft keys at the bottom without the needs of root or apps
Something I really miss going to x play
Plus the firmware upgrade are pants still waiting for marshmallow to come out officially here

My mistake pressed wrong key lol
After using a Nexus 5 for a couple years I was ready to move on to something with a larger screen. I initially went with the LG G3 and I liked the experience. The phone was snappy and did better than the Nexus 5 in benchmarks. However, I had what seemed to be a not so rare yet not so common issue. The phone would randomly shut off by itself and require a battery pull and reseat before it would turn back on. I had to pull the battery, hold the power button for 15 seconds and then reseat the battery. Happened every day, some days twice. Now I may have just gotten unlucky but I've read reports on various forums about this issue. Turns out on some of the G3s the molding of the battery compartment isn't fitted to the size of the battery properly, so the battery can shift to the side losing contact with the phone.
I took it back to the store and they didn't have any more G3s in stock to swap it out for so I opted for the Moto X Play. Under Lollipop the X Play has some performance issues, specifically when it comes to scrollable apps like Chrome. They tend to micro stutter and freeze while scrolling. Under Marshmallow the issue is largely resolved. It still happens but not nearly as often. There also seems to be an issue with performance drop over time. I have to factory reset every few weeks otherwise the phone slows right down to a crawl. The X Play is a mid range device with a SoC that is known to be lackluster (SnapDragon 615). It's priced accordingly. Theoretically it should be better than the G3 by a little bit since that SoC is technically a 64bit chip, however Motorola has stuck to only releasing 32bit builds for it so that theoretical performance advantage is not there. The G3 performs better in benchmarks.
It comes down to a simple choice.
LG G3 - Better performance with worse battery life.
Moto X Play - Much better battery life with worse performance.
Both devices should cost about the same.

I love the battery life in the X Play however having to factory reset every few weeks is a pain and Motorola just isn't as fast with updates anymore. They used to be, but with this phone there is no official communication so there is no telling when updates are being released, its hard to find fastboot flashable factory images (Only in a thread here on XDA and its filefactory so downloads are really slow) and updates are only marginally faster than other manufacturers.

Okey, clear! Thanks for this information! Greatly aprreciated! I think I'll go with the Moto. You said you reset the phone regularly, because if you don't it will eventually become very slow. Do you have any knowledge whether this is a common problem?

Nothing concrete. Just a couple of others on these forums reporting the same, but a couple people doesn't mean it's an across the board issue. It's probably just an issue with a small fraction of the X plays produced. All I know is it was a hard decision going from a Nexus to a non Nexus device and my experience made it easy to decide to go back. You may not have any of these issues with either the g3 or the X Play.
Motorola build quality is better than LG's, and the X Play is a nicer object to hold, look at, and use than the G3.
I have both phones right in front of me right now..... and I prefer the LG G3.
Out of the box... the G3 has a nicer firmware with a LOT more options.
On the other hand, Motorolla has Marshmallow updates.
Pros LG G3
- much better camera, even if less pixels, the image quality is a lot clearer and less grainy. The laser focus helps a lot.
-better screen resolution (quad HD)
- more RAM (3Gb)
- removable battery
- 32gb of space
- to me, i feel the LG g3 feels less cheap than the motorolla, specially the buttons on the side of the motorolla feels cheap. Also dont like the fake leather back cover.
- phone speaker is louder. (not the loudspeaker)
-more cases and accessories atm. Lots of custom roms, easy to root and stuff.
Pros Moto X play
- brighter screen, more vibrant colors
- better battery life, but its also a bigger battery (but its non removable)
- 21mp camera in 4:3 mode..... but its very grainy. It has better low light performances than the G3 a little... but again... the result is VERY grainy.
- loudspeaker is louder than G3 but not as nice sounding
- good front camera
- bigger 8 core CPU
- faster in some apps, but not in everything.
So yeah.... I made my choice on the LG for the more customizable interface out of the box and the much better camera.
Other than that..... really similar phone. Performance are both nice and fast. they both have some apps they perform better than the other but cant really give a winner there.

I had to reset only once after updating to 6.0. Since then it's working fine. The lags are no more in 6.0.
Also sd615 has newer architecture so doesnt mean, it's better. It's still a mid range chip (615) and Motorola did the right thing by not providing the 64 but software. G3's maybe an old chip but that was a flagship chip and still is which has better performance than this newer chip.

It's probably just an issue with a small fraction of the X plays produced. All I know is it was a hard decision going from a Nexus to a non Nexus device and my experience made it easy to decide to go back. You may not have any of these issues with either the g3 or the X Play.

I also had the same dilema. Went with the Moto X Play and a month later I know I made the right choice. Amazing design, great screen, amazing battery life and stock android is WAY WAY WAY better then LG`s nasty UI. Oh am I am getting updates haha.
obviously MXP , how many phones out there give 10hours of SOT and that's with dual sim ??
I will gladly trade a few cores for extra SOT.

Hey I thought I'd give my thoughts. I've owned both and I gotta say although I loved the G3, after having the battery life of the x play I could not go back. As far as the slowing down if you are in XDA and flashing roms then that's not something I would be too concerned with in the near future (say 2 years). I also found no matter which rom I used on the G3 it seemed to want to overheat a lot. Just my thoughts, hope it helps.

Could you tell me something about what roms exactly are?
I see them as operating systems for the phone, think of the equivalent of different versions of Windows for your phone (XP, Windows 7, or 10) they key here is that they are somewhat personalized and give you different looks and functions that perhaps your stock experience wouldn't. An example of this is better battery life, or options such as changing the look of the whole user experience. They also, and for the most part, enhance your phones capabilities(responsiveness and security) and give you quicker updates than lg or Motorola would. Hope this helps.

You're absolutely right. I've made up my mind and decided to go with the Moto. All I have to do now is find a carrier that meets my needs, order the phone and enjoy it;s great features, one of which is the great SOT!
Moto E³ Power was launched last week in India and the phone have already been sold over a 100,000 units. I am sure there are many XDA users who have bought it because of love with Moto and Stock Android experience with other benefits (simply read VoLTE support).
Can you post your experience with the device so far?
I have bought 2 (for my dad and wife) and below have been my experience so far:
Performance - Right after initial setup, I have notice some lag despite the phone having decent processor and 2GB RAM (noticed it maybe because I am an OnePlus 3 owner). Have not tried games as I am not much into gaming.
Battery - Battery Life is decent and can easily last approx 2 days with minimal usages. Moderate usage will still take you home with at least 20~25% battery.
Network - I have noticed significant delay in network connection on a VoLTE where, I had to wait for 4~5 min before device registered itself on the network. 2G/3G connected quickly after boot.
Camera - UI is no longer of what was there in previous iteration of Moto 3 or G. Camera interface has been completely ramped down to the one of Lenovo Phones (I know moto is a Lenovo company). Also, camera speed is slow this resulting in blurry images for fast moving target. Broad daylight photos are above average however dont torture yourself with a low-light photograph.
Storage - 16GB of onboard storage is just fine for a budget phone like this one. I was lucky that I got both the phone with free 32GB UHS I card.
Build - Sadly, build is still cheap plastic. Removing back panel is scary as there is huge chance of chipping the panel with little extra pressure. Xiaomi Redmi 3s is INR6999 however, is still a metal body phone.
My experience might be completely biased towards this phone considering the fact that I am an OnePlus 3 user. What about you all?
What about GPS performance? How's the accuracy and signal strenght? Which GPS networks are supported?
3G/LTE reception/signal strenght?
Also how's the sound quality and volume through the 3.5mm jack?
Couldn't find any reviews mentioning these aspects.
Also read some contradictory claims about call volume and quality; heating and also display brightness. What's your experience? Anything to worry about? Thanks!
Im thinking about getting it, but after this review.. not so sure. I'm thinking of passing the xiaomi phones as I read in reviews that even though the engineers and marketeers are truly hard workers, their support branch is a total garbage. I haven't spotted a single service outlet here in Kolkata. Nobody wants to cry being doomed to stay with a malfunctioning phone and no way out.

Gps works average
Network reception is excellent... Have been using reliance jio (VOLTE, LTE) works totally fine, vodafone 3g is also best.. So far no network drop..
I used soundmagic es18s., sound output is great.. Volume is not too high. Phone speakers have loud and decent volume... Games like dead trigger 2, real racing 3, overkill 3, need for speed- no limits work totally fine. Asphalt 8 hangs in high graphics but works fine in medium and low graphics.. Overall it can handle games in low to medium graphics pretty well. Heats up little while charging that is perfectly normal. Charging time - around 2hrs.
No bugs or hanging problem.. Screen quality is great.. Scratch and dust resistant. No complaints about display. I did notice little heating up while on call even after just normal usage

usually display not responsive to touch because phone lag. even my moto g xt1033 even faster than this moto e3 power
5. MTKLogger running at boot. even after format and erase phone. do your phone got this function running.

Im about to upgrade my Moto G XT1033 to This One
I have just got a Moto E³ power
I m satisfied with its performance, battery life, storage and many more
But it has a problem with camera, it didn't have a camera as we have experienced in Xiaomi Redmi 1 s
But overall its a good mob ????????????????
Stay on 23.0.XT1706_S131_160905_ROW (STOCK ONE) THIS VER IS THE BEST ONE.
New updates have some issues so stay on stock version.
Can any one post a India stock rom for xt1706 please..
