Redmi Note 4 matte black MTK version - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Guides, News, & Discussion

Did you guys know that there is now also a matte black RN4 mtk version? I thought only the SD version had matte black.
I bought one yesterday, very happy so far. Great build quality with the all-metal back. Better than my Redmi 3s in every aspect.

What phone did you have before?

One question I've got for you S8+ owners, what phone did you guys switch from and a brief explanation as to why?
I switched from an S7 edge, because I've been a Samsung fanboy since the GS2 and I've owned every single Samsung flagship since that time, so I didn't want to end the streak. I also picked one up because the midnight black one is probably the best looking phone I've ever seen and because the phone is still rare where I live, it 'stands' out a lot.
I came from a Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ 64 GB model. It is still a great phone today and it's also fast and nice. But the things that made me to go for the Galaxy S8+ is.....
1. Bigger screen. 6.2 inch vs 5.7 inch.
2. Better camera in low light environments and in focusing on objects.
3. Better stabilization under video recording. Now you can use both OIS and EIS at the same time on all resolutions. I could only use OIS and EIS at the same time with [email protected] fps on the Galaxy S6 edge+.
4. MicroSD card support. Yes, my Galaxy S6 edge+ was missing that.
5. Better sound quality via the 3.5mm headphone jack. Yes, i do love to listen to musics.
6. Snappier / faster phone in general use.
7. IP68 water and dust resistant.
8. A design that looks futuristic. Yes i kinda needed something that had a new and fresh look.
So there you have my reasons on why i changed from the Galaxy S6 edge+ that i had for one and a half year .
EDIT: I just sold my Galaxy S6 edge+ phone today. Good night sweet prince, you served me well those one and a half year.

Screen marked too easily on the Porsche Design so needed Gorilla Glass 5 which is much more resistant to scratches - I know this as I didn't put a screen protector on the Note 7 and really didn't look after it (knowing it was being returned).
OnePlus3 for me, and quite frankly the S8 makes it feel like a cheap toy
Nexus 6. Had my fill of keeping up with rooting and ROMs.

Galaxy S4. Got it when it came out and it was a beast, thanks to XDA and all the wonderful people here it has been going strong since then but it's been showing it's age for the past year or so.
My requirements were simple. Good support from the manufaturer and community (XDA), removeable battery and/or SD card, not an LG, and just something that really stood out over my S4. Was dissapointed with the s6 an no SD card, was tempted for the s7 but timeing never added up then when i had the money and started looking the s8 was around the corner. As soon as i picked up and tried the demo i knew i wanted it.
Few online searches and $1200 later i have a g955F. I love it.
Pixel XL. Gave it to my dad when I got the s8+

Nexus6p and keeping it for a while....
LG V10 since Dec 2015. I had to warranty three of them thanks to the bootloop issues and I'm suppose to be picking up my S8+ from my local store today.
Galaxy Note 7.
I came from the Moto Nexus 6, which I completely loved. The processor is getting a little long in the tooth as is the battery. While I wasn't as harsh on it as the critics were, the camera doesn't hold up in comparison to today's phones. A phone finally came along where I did not have to compromise on screen size (I like the big screens). S8+ is it. While I'm not a fan of Samsung's heavy handed user experience, those things are pretty easily remedied with a new launcher and the removal of some bloat.
Iphone 7plus & mate 9 pro.
Got tired of not being able to customize the iPhone and updates are horrible on the mate 9 pro ( International version)

Note 7. I dropped it and cracked the screen after the S8+ came out. The battery life in the S8+ is awesome!!!! I got say, I don't miss the Note 7 especially with the Note app carrying over to the S8. Thank goodness for the smart switch feature!
I will still buy the Note 8 in the fall.

I had the Note 7 but had to return it, and went back to using my Note 5. I was going to wait for the Note 8 but my Note 5's battery is starting to show it's age and I decided to get the S8 since it feels so good in the hand. Then I decided to try the S8+. Not sure which I like better. The S8 sure does feel nice in the hand, but of course the bigger display on the S8+ is very nice.
I also have a Pixel, which is an OK device. I wanted a Pixel XL but the 128GB were always backordered and by the time I could get one, the S8/S8+ was almost released so I passed and went for the S8.
As for the reasons I picked the Galaxy devices over the Pixels - the display is the main reason for me. The Pixel camera is good but they don't have wireless charging, which I really like, and the bezels on the Pixel are huge.
When the Note 8 and the Pixel XL2 are released, I will decide between those 2 and sell the S8+ in all likelihood. I will probably keep the S8 since it is such a nice size for when I don't want a huge device.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 SM-T705 LTE Model. i find the Galaxy S8+ To small..
HTC M9 I loved that phone I have switched to Samsung:good: after loyaly following htc from the start.

Difference between same model bought from Flipkart and Mi.com

Today I compared my Redmi Note 4 (Black, 4gb, Flipkart) and my friend's Redmi Note 4(Gold, 4gb, Mi.com) side by side. Here I found following differences and I'm totally disappointed with Xiaomi.
1. Flipkart model has yellowish tint in screen.
2. The camera quality of Flipkart model is very low compared to Mi.com model.
3. Intensity of flashlight is also low in Flipkart model.
What can be the reasons for this difference? Has anyone experienced the same?

My device is roughly two months old. And it has dead pixels in the screen. Somewhat disappointed. Though other things are great

Take it to a service centre , they'll replace it for free , make sure you have locked bootloader and warranty isn't void.
Xiaomi ships Redmi Note 4 with many different hardware parts.
Like my unit for example, Indonesian Redmi Note 4 2016102 Black 3/32GB ships with BOE panel (apparently cause of that yellowish tint), Samsung camera sensors in both rear and front, FPC fingerprint sensor, and yellowish LED flash.
Some might ship with Tianma panel, Sony or OmniVision camera sensors, or Goodix fingerprint sensor. Damn Xiaomi.

The one which I have has none. And moreover the issue few people are having is not dead pixel but a stuck pixel that's the reason you are able to see it in black backgrounds with higher levels of brightness cuz the pixel is just stuck in one single Colour. If the pixel was dead you wouldn't have noticed it on a black background cuz a dead pixel won't light up in the first place( you would notice it in a white background though). And coming to the yellow tint yes I had the yellow tint while I got the phone but it seems to have been fixed in the software updates cuz I don't have it anymore!

Goto about phone and tap on kernel version several times wait for CIT to launch, now select the 1st option. There you can see codes under both front and back cameras if it's s5k5e8 = Samsung, imx258 = Sony, neither = omni.

Redmi pro screen replacement

Hey guys,
Please help me in getting a display for redmi pro
I am not getting the redmi pro display everywhere its out of stock.
Anyone knows or have made a screen replacement then please help.
Thanks.
I made one a few months back. I bought one from eBay for 40€. It's still available but I can't link you since I am new, you can find it under Redmi pro 5.5". The only problem is, that it's not an OLED screen I think. It works fine, but I moved on to the poco.
You could buy the original oled screen with or without frame in AliExpress. It's free shipping too.
Without Frame
With Frame
Out of curiosity I tested the screen from eBay and it is actually OLED but it came without the frame. With frame is better.
hello , are you interested to sell the REDMI PRO

Mi 9t/K20 screen question

Hello. I'll soon buy mi 9t but watching reviews one say that screen is amoled and others that screen is super amoled. Witch one has this phone? Thx for help <3
According to Aida64, the display on my 9T is super amoled.
It's super amoled.
the difference between AMOLED and Super is the integration of touch sensor into the panel so as a result the screen will appear as it's attached to the glass instead of there being a gap and since there is no extra layer, there is better brightness efficiency. A look at Mi 9T will tell you it's Super AMOLED.
It's hilarious to read reviews of this phone (including one on XDA) that clearly don't even know what Super AMOLED is. Also I'm not sure why there is all this discussions about it, pretty sure Samsung doesn't make anything but Super AMOLED for years now. It's noting new. It goes back to galaxy S5 or maybe older I think.
The display on this phone is very good, it's the least important point of concern about this device. It looks better than 90 percent of phones out there including entirely of Samsung's own A series. It's very similar to my galaxy S10e "Dynamic" AMOLED, I really can't tell the difference. It is also very color accurate out of the box, I didn't expect that. Just use Warm mode for best results.
