[Q] Gallery not showing high-resolution images

Does anyone have an idea why the default Gallery app doesn't show full-resolution images, but rather a crappy down-sized and heavily compressed images instead?
I've tried some other gallery apps, but I really like the look and transitions on the default app - everything is good, except the resolution :/
Also, if you have any other good gallery apps to try out, I'm all ears. My problem is that I need to carry with me a very large amount of photos (several thousand). I've downsized them to fit into 1200x1200 resolution box, but when viewed through the default app, they suck immensely.
I believe that is Android's fault. The stock android gallery downsizes all pics. If there was a similar gallery app (transitions and look) but with full-size pics I'd be interested too!!!
Same problem here. Though it's still far from perfect, the best viewer I've seen so far is JustPictures!, which can handle hires images quite correctly.
I have the same problem and as I am a photographer and use the Tab as my portofilo I have found on the market for free the app Large Image Viewer.
That will display the images as I want it to see.

Indeed. Stock Android apps suck at any decent media viewing or editing. Its also why every photo editing app downsizes your edits to a pitiful 1024 resolution. Its an OS limitation I believe.
Um, Google. What the hell is the point then in better cameras & higher resolutions if you're crappy OS can't handle editing them??
Someone buy Google a clue.

Does it work for the tab?
I had to root first to remove the old gallery before installing the modded gallery.

Yeah, same here - a photographer After that I've uploaded most of my archive in a resized, but still high-res mode, and saw that horror on the screen... Bah! I'll check out that app, thanks!
Photog here too... the modded gallery looks like a nice option, but I've been using the app called just pictures from the market(as mentioned by obi4d above)... it allows you to specify the maximum res for zoom viewing (up to original size), and for the most part it is very smooth and clean... a hiccup every now and then with 18mp 300dpi jpegs, but it's free and doesn't require root... it also can connect to several photo sites (flickr, picasa, smugmug, even facebook etc...) to remotely display your galleries much faster than the browser...

I use Number22's Gallery3D app, which fixes the sensor battery bug and provides full resolution picture views. I also use JustPictures from time to time.
What about EXIF data. I know 'JustPictures' displays EXIF but what about 'Large Image Viewer', does it too show EXIF material?
If so which is considered to show the greater additional material?

DAMN..... That is so important to me.
Looks like I'll have to install JustPictures! for EXIF data.
Can someone post an example image so we can test various gallery apks?
I have installed the molded gallery from the SGS Toolbox but my images look fine (as did they before this).
I fail to see the problem.

I just tested quickpick and is very fast. what I don't like is the menu configuration.
but if you want a fast picture viewer quickpick wont disappoint.
any other to test?
Just Pictures. You will love it.
Quickpic is the best, imo... none of that 3D tilty crap and it's veery fast.
The only thing it lacks is navigation by filetree.

Take a look at Image and video viewer section. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14358818#post14358818
I have a question about quickpic if someone can help me.
When I want to set a wallpaper using a high resolution picture, the rectangle selector is maximized to the borders of the picture, but what I want is the selector to be the size of my screen resolution. (Like it is with gallery 3d)
So is there any way to make the rectangle selector exactly the size of the phone screen?
I'm using Quickpic to view high resolution photos (captured by DSLR) and very happy with it.

Panoramic Photos

One thing I liked about wm6.5 was the panoramic photographs is there any app I can do this with Android?
Sent from my HTC Runnymede using XDA App
Try this one, it done the job Well
App Name : Photaf Panorama
I second the post above, that app is one of the best panorama apps out there, if not the best.
Some camera apps also have the ability to take wideshots and panoramas.
Note that photaf uses your Gsensor and compass, so if they're not working well on the build/ROM you use you'll have trouble shooting any photo.

Gallery customisation?

So I'm looking to get an S2 soon but one of the things that seems quite lacking compared to something like an iphone is the gallery. I've seen videos of the gallery and used a demo of it myself and it is just not very sleek when browsing photos. Are there ways to completely customise how the gallery can be used?
Just install an app from the market like Quickpic
There are 3 best gallery apps:
- quickpic is the fastest gallery on android
- fishbowl has innovatif ui
- just pictures is just pictures gallery but very good

Snapseed (editing app, NIK EFEX(professional photo editing too for photoshop) for Android, Google bought them.): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.niksoftware.snapseed
It has a center blur setting that you can drop anywhere on the photo and change the blur around it. Also, it's free.
