WIFI wont turn on anymore - LG V20 Questions & Answers

Hi Guys , I would appreciate if anyone could help.
I have a V20 Taiwan model since November .
The WiFi suddenly does not turn on anymore .
When I click the switch the screen just stays at 'turning WiFi on' and does nothing .
I have reset the phone 2 times and no difference .
Is this a common issue with this phone . I would really appreciate any help.
The phone e has never been modified or rooted .Etc.
Everything is original.
Cheers

I didn't see any other people report this kinda issue. I guess there's an issue with either the wifi driver (aka radio) or the hardware itself. You should try flashing the ROM again. If that doesn't help, you've had to send it to the service center for hardware failure.

I have the exact same problem... Sending it back for repair.

@bazzazz, @Frayday
Reviving an old thread because mine is showing same WiFi problems after seven months. Resetting to factory / flashing default ROMs doesn't solve the problem. Just wanted to know if both of your phone's could be repaired by the LG service centre. What did they say?

Mine was purchased from DWI . Hong Kong . Sent it back and was told that it could not be repaired. They sent me a new phone .. But here we are again 1 year later and having issues with severe lag and overheating . Not a great phone by any means . I will be Going back to Xiaomi real soon ..

Interesting, I too bought mine on DWI... I sent it back for repair. They said the unit was faulty and a new one is supposedly on the way. I wonder where they get the phones from. Maybe they are refurbished phones?

Thanks to both of you. I bought it online from Amazon India from a seller of repute, at 50% discount. It seems that they were selling refurbished units without proper quality checks. I bought this phone basically for using as a music player and easy photography (without carrying a DSLR) and this was never used as my daily phone. Now it seems that I have to limit the use for camera and music only. Very very dejected. Further the phone was never elevated from Nougat 7.0. God knows when 8.0 will arrive. Never going to buy LG again.

Hello, sorry for my late reply. They actually fixed it and it has been working fine every since. Oreo is running smoothly too! I actually love my LG V20... it has everything I need, including removable batteries (not ready to give that up yet, don't want to carry a powerbank with me or wait 30 minutes for my phone to charge a bit. Swap the battery and ready to go!)

I got it repaired in June,2018, free of cost as the phone was still in warranty. The service personnels were good and they changed the hardware, probably the motherboard within 3 days as the same was not in their stock. Note the same is running well but sadly no Oreo update in India yet. And I doubt Oreo will ever come to India. I will continue to use my phone as Music player and non DSLR camera.

If I flash the original kdz file, the warranty is still valid?
Does the date appear when kdz was written?

A lot of LG G4 users in Thailand -H818P are getting stuck in boot loop issue!!

This month, a lot of LG G4 users in Thailand - H818P are getting stuck in the boot loop issue every day.
The only way is to bring it to LG service center and replace the mother board and they not yet found and the root cause of this problem for a month up to now.
Most is serial lot 505 are being sold in Thailand and found with 10f firmware.
Is someone get the same problem ? What is your country and firmware you are using?
I need how to Restore/Unbrick LG G4 H818P (Bootloop Fix).
Same in Israel - model h815L. Many people have this issue but the local company who is the LG importer here takes their time and do a poor work when changing the motherboard. I read of at least 80 people who had that in here.
Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
Same problem here with h815EU, bought in Slovakia. Something very similar happened to me - kinda a bootloop - phone starts to LG logo (with unlocked booloader banner) and after ~15sec reboots again and again - luckily I was ableto go insto "download" and recovery and bootloader so I flashed original OpenEU LL droir(10D) - via kdz. After that I was able to boot to android - but after some time it reboots itself and I was back in bootloop. It works that way that after couple of hours on charger and helluva lot autoreboots it starts but again only for couple of minutes, sometimes i was able to install some apps, sometimes only starting google play ended up with bootloop. So now it's in servis, I hope they will fix it or replace, as it is I think memblk error - HW issue.
Please write your experience if you have or had this problem, let we can use it as argument if our warranty repair claims will be denied.
2 extra god & AvivEliyahu: please can you give more info about the probs you mentioned? AFAIK I recently found that even one of developers here was affected by this (or smth very similar) - S3V3N from Poland ( see here: http://forum.androidnow.pl/13118-7-...rp-unlock-bootloader-post85521.html#post85521)
I have h818p.. No problems.. YET

Interesting.
505 means year 2015, month 05 or may. This is how you can tell when our G4 was made. The first 3 digits of the serial#. You will learn about this useful nugget if you browse the warranty booklet included in the box.
This is the first batch of G4's. These would be people that bought at launch or within a few months from it. Now a days I doubt there is any 505 stock left any more.
When its is said a lot of people i question it. LG has been making many G4's since 2015-05.
If you are among the unlucky few, hit the service centre for a replacement. Might take up to a month but you will get it and for free.
If your model is 505 and more than 3 months have passed without issue then you are probably in the clear.
Just checked SN - its 505KPNY####11 (H815EU) so it's among those from first batch, I bought it sometime @ beginning of june, it worked till begining of november (exactly to - 06.11.) I have unlocked bootloader, but I ready to sue them if they wont fix it &|| repair. I gave it to seller for warranty repair this monday, so I'm waiting for results - I'll keep you posted.
Does Thailand get the SEA version which has unlockable bootloader ?
people facing this problem and who have a variant that has no way to unlock the bootloader have a water tight case.
If you unlocked the bootloader then all bets are off. You are dependent on their goodwill.
don't know about Thailand version (I have H815 EU, bought in slovakia), but I think it depends on local legal regulations - warranty, guarantee repairs. In EU seller is responsible for HW faults not caused by misuse and/or accidental damage(fall from desk etc.) Reality is that device is usually sent to manufacturer or authorised service and they decide. But unlocking bootloader cannot be considered as misuse, at least because unlocking is provided by manufacturer(LG) directly - in case that unlocking was done by some 3rd party app, it might be questionable, but in this case...
2 OneTwelve: Thx for info about 505batch
Very good.
It strengthens my belief that the G4 cannot be bricked with software alone.
It might appear bricked to you but the service centre has the tools to unbrick it.
What if they say they will unbrick it for a fee ?
This fee is actually round trip transport costs to a facility that has the tools and knowledge.
If they say requires a new mobo that suggests a hardware issue. But i am sceptical of this reason.
One month is enough time to send a device back & forth to anywhere in the world.
If they will ask for some reasonable shipping fee, i'll pay that. Hopefully it wont be like on ebay sometimes - some sellers set starting price as 1/10th of item value, but i saw ie. mouse+kbd kombo (worth approx. 100€) for 15€, but shipping was 85€
Today I got the bootloop issue on my G4, I haven't done anything yet, still virgin phone, but it sux give me such problem, will send it for warranty on Monday LG simply ruin its image to me this time.

One week is good, usually something like this might take a month.
I would not give up sd card and replaceable battery (forever) for 1 week - 1 month of wait.
You have a backup phone ? use it.

See, this is the thing i don't understand. Every damn phone has issues if you check on the boards. Someone who has used flagships for a few years knows this.
you had no problems with G2 & G3. So really only one out of three gave you trouble.
Are you paying out of pocket for mobo replacement ? no.
has LG refused warranty ? no
You think samsung will be good, but if there is a problem in the future with samsung you will say the same thing.
Then who will you run to

Never heard that Samsung have such kind of major issue, I was surfed local forum and all said most of serial number from 505-509 are affected (not just a few units), If I am LG, I will do a recall instead of to wait us to get problem and then get repair, I lost all my datas, mobile banking etc, That's the sux thing for me, if they do a recall, then the kind of crappy thing won't happen to their customer!

[Help] Non-UK Device in UK

Hi Xda would be really helpful if anyone could help with this one.
Bascially my cuzon bought a Note 4 on Ebay and when it came shortly after we discovered he was having major issues with the phone he was losing 3G and 4G and sometimes texts would go and sometimes they wouldn't.
Anyway we took this up with the buyer who said he would send us another one once he had received this one back. We sent the device back and revived the same one back i knew this when i compared the imei number. This was about 6 months ago since then the case has gone cold Ebay has done nothing and the seller and disappeared, after taking this to trading standards they have hit a brick wall. They are still trying at the present time but they have told us that we are stuck with the device.
When i spoke to Samsung about these issues they told me something interesting that the device was a none-UK device and im pretty sure non-EU.
So my question is this, is there anyway that this issue could be fixed. The device works brilliantly apart from that, i was thinking (Although not sure) Would flashing a UK stock rom work or anything along those lines.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

UPDATED - My Motherboard is DEAD!

UPDATE 1/14/2017
So after calling uncountable times from Uruguay to Google, Best Buy and Huawei. I finnaly made some progress. I call Huawei and they told me that if I was still on the warranty period they will help me with my device. So they asked me for some photos of the phone and a copy of the recipt of my purchase. After 3 days of waiting I recive a mail with a label from UPS to send my phone, I was really surprised because the payed for a shippment by plane of 130 dollars. I sent the phone and they told me that in a few days they will email me back telling me if my phone it's able for a repair or the will replace and upgrade my phone, (by adding extra memory). I'll keep up to date this post.
BTW thanks to all of you who tried to help me!
A week ago my phone just simply turn off and never boot up again. The ONLY thing that i notice its that the phone was making a electric sound near the top speaker, but the phone didn´t turn on the red light. So i take it to a third party phone repair service and they told me that the motherboard was dead and they couldn´t fix it because here (in URUGUAY) there are no parts for this phone. So im asking u what to do. Send the phone back tu USA to a repair service, buy a new motherboard and repair it by myself.
IMPORTANT: The phone has lees than a year but i buy it on a travel tu USA so the warranty here in Uruguay doesn´t do anything.
Sorry for my english!
Thank U

Work on EUR (ITA) only?
My phone just stopped functioning about a 3 months ago. It would just bootloop without access to bootloader or anything. I called Google (3times) and finally they gave me a new one. The first two wanted me to mail it to huawei for 4 weeks without a phone. The 3rd was american and shipped me one. Its probably a doable repair only that the back its a ***** to get off I think. I'd do it myself

Motherboard issue
Hey guys,
I'm from India and I got the Nexus 6P when it was launched. After I got the phone, around a month later I got the phone replaced as it had some battery problems. Now the present scenario is 4 days ago the phone was acting pretty weird. The camera app wasn't opening and it would close saying there's an error. The fingerprint sensor was very very slow. If there was an incoming call it would just vibrate and the screen would be still off. I took it to the Huawei service center and left it there. Now there are saying the motherboard is damaged and they are asking 20000 INR (approx 300 USD). Now the thing is there isn't a single scratch as I had used it in a very careful way and haven't done anything thing to it.The warranty is also expired. I literally feel scammed as paying so much for a phone and it's lifetime is just around 1 and half year. It sucks tbh. And paying so much for that motherboard is useless because even if I sell it the market price for second hand Nexus 6P is less.
Please help me out guys.
Thank you.

Having the same problem as yours bro. But they asked me 14000 INR. So I happened to give it to third party service center and they tried to solve the problem, in fact the phone booted up and now it's in bootloop and they suggested me to take it to authorized service center as they couldn't solve the bootloop issue and they say it's a software issue (they took 2200 INR). Hope it gets solved through the software. I'll update when they give an update. If this doesn't work, i'll just buy a pixel 2

Sorry, I don't mean to hijack this thread.
Anyways, my phone lasted 1 year and 2 months, so basically the phones are clocked to fail after warranty.
I suggest you try the 4 core boot image fix if the phone is bootlooping. Have been running it for few months with this jugaad.
Nexus 6p- dead after 1 yr 9 months
Same problem has happened with me. The phone is now dead after using it for 1 year 9 months. Means 43000 for 1 year 9 months.
Please help me out as the huawei service centre is asking for 18k rs. Why i should pay for the problems that everyone is facing after i browsed the forums pages and lot of other websites.
I feel cheated after purchasing this phone. I was alot positive for nexus series. But they are waste.
Even the google support didnt gave a proper reply
Even i am facing the same issue . I also go to know from the service centre that they already had 30 such complaint. The phone was not physically damaged . This is not fare to pay 20,000 INR when we are not responsible for the issue .

Hello @kat19, the problem seems to be completely hardware and I should replace my botherboard in order for my phone to work. Since it costs too much for the replacement, I sat quiet and planning on buying a new Pixel 2 device. There is nothing I can do with the software for the device to work.

Is your bootloader unlocked? Have you tried flashing the 4 core boot image?

So the repair centre have sent my phone back...

Hello
First post here, go easy on me.
I've had my Nexus 6P for about 18 months and the battery life is becoming a bit of problem (not again right?), admittedly I do charge it whenever I can but that's because the damn thing gives me something like 2 hours of on-screen browsing time. Lately it started to shut down at 30% too so I basically can use the phone for about an hour from full before dies.
I spoke to Huawei and surprisingly the phone is still in warranty and they got me to send it back. 5 days later today, I got my phone back, thinking they would change the battery, however the analysis says they did a software update and 'screening'. I turned on the phone it's been reverted back to 6.0.1.
Now here's the dilemma:
1) Do I keep this version and see how it goes? Perhaps the engineers are trying to tell me this is the best version?
2) Update to 7.1.1, the notification keeps popping up, perhaps they did other software update apart from reverting back to Marshmallow and it should work ok now?
3) just sell the damn thing and get a S8 plus

Sell. The phone is a mess, doesn't matter what version of Android you're on. Poor, poor QC from Huawei.
And worse customer service, they wont even fix the phone if its out of warrant, even if its only 2 weeks out. you get told to send to 3rd party repair.
They won't touch it.

Trust me, if you were in the same position you wouldnt help them. You have 365 days from purchase to state an issue with the phone, and on day 375 there's an issue? Sure, Huawei makes **** products, but they offer a one year warranty, just like every other legit company. It is not 100% their fault.

I trusted the company to make a decent product. I understand why you say that and where do you draw the line on warranty thinking, at the end of a year of course.
HOwever.
Generally speaking this is bad business which every other legit manufacturer I have dealt with has understood as well.
I have had cars, appliances even houses repaired "Out of warranty" because they were JUST out of warranty.
To be fair I had been experiencing random reboots, usually overnight so I didnt think any thing of it since I was not experiencing anything as bad as some of the other ppl who's posts of disgruntlement with this device litter the internet. So maybe it is not 100% their fault. Maybe.
It seems that the problem with these devices is so bad the rep told me they had recently changed their policy on warranty but he did not know why. I think coherently extrapolating we can come to a reasonable conclusion about the why.
I would have paid some for warranty service as well, thinking that a factory refurb would be legit. Even this small courtesy was not offered , I was told " In this case you will have to contact a third party technician to fix this issue."
WTF? Even LG repaired my Nexus 5 out of warranty for which I happily paid.
But Thank You for giving me this opportunity to clarify the situation.
Zo0
Well over the last few days I have been patiently waiting to see any improvement on 6.0.1, I got 9 hours standby in total, with probably 1-2 hours of total on screen browsing time. This prompted me to upgrade to the latest version and it has been just as bad as when I first sent it off for repairs. So the 'repair' was a waste of time.
Now either S8+ or Oneplus 5 :fingers-crossed:

Nexus 5x bootloop issue in India

Bought nexus 5x on 19.8.2016 and now it got bootlooped on 31 may 2017. Didn't expected as the phone was running very smooth and suddenly on the usage, it started to get heat up and then went dead after a second. I was trying to switch on it but it was just showing a google logo and then again switches off. Now sent to LG service centre, but the guys are not still receiving the handset in the care. So lets just see what LG guys have excuse for it, still they are saying that we need to replace the mother board, but the part isn't available with us.
Exact same issue happened to me day before yesterday - went to LG service center in my city (kolkata)... They told me the camera module & mother board both needs to be replaced.

so what did they tell you, is the part available or not ??? In mine case the part is still not available. Its very embarrasing that the nexus phones are such a waste of money.

They just told me to leave the handset with them and they'll contact me within 2-3 with the update on motherboard/camera availability details...

Any news? Actually this is a global problem. I'm in Japan with the issue and have read of same issues all over the world. Problem is mine is a couple months out of warranty. I think it's either hardware or bootloader corruption. Mine finally booted up and I did a factory reset - then on reboot it just went back into boot loop, for like 24 hours now. So frickin bummed.

I bought this phone on the same date. Rooted and disabled big core because of bootloop fear. It has been a good experience because battery life is amazing after underclocking. Were you on stock ROM or custom ROM?
Even my phone suffered the same problem. They said new motherboard not available and they will contact me once they get it. It has been 3 weeks since they contacted me.
