[ROM][GT-I9190/I9195][7.1.1] LineageOS 14.1 for S4 Mini 3G/LTE daily build - Galaxy S 4 Mini General

Hello!
I saw that the xda topic lack of fresh builds of LineageOS 14.1 for S4 Mini 3G/LTE.
In this address there are new builds every day! https://visi0nary.de/builds/full/
I'm using lineage-14.1-20170408-UNOFFICIAL-serranoltexx.zip with open_gapps-arm-7.1-pico-20170408.zip and addonsu-arm-signed.zip on an I9195.

Hey there,
can I flash a ROM without losing my data?
I'd like some bugs fixed, but setting the phone to my liking every time is a pain in the butt.

If you have LineAgeos 14.1 as your current rom, then it is okay, if you have stock or another branch, then a full "start from beginning" is the good choice!
BTW, there are new 04-11 build if you have the i9195 version!

I have the i9195 dual-core version (LTE serralnotex), the ROM's one of the very early January builds.
So it's as simple as making a backup, downloading the install file to my SD card and flashing it?

Lovely!
Updated the phone. The bugs are now gone, I can set battery options and camera works flawlessly.
Substratum works fine with this build as well (previously had a bootloop warning).
Thanks for the heads up and big props to the developer(s).

For some reason, sometimes when I try to enable cellular data it doesn't work (The "H" icon doesn't show and there's no connection).
Anybody else have this issue? or a fix?
(Using the 20170408 build btw)

You should set the APN settings, I guess... Search the right one, my telenor has: "online" APN settings.
EDIT: Only sometimes? Then I have no clue about this, I'm using wifi only.
Using build 0411, will upgrade tomorrow for a recent one.

Yeah... still happens on 20170416 build. Happens for like 50-60% of the time.
APN settings are fine, I'll check them again. If they are okay, is there any idea how to fix?
Did it happen on your device? (i9195)

not possible, when you flash a new rom, you have to wipe your entire phone from your custom recovery (twrp, clockwork, etc), and then you flash your rom and gapps if you have to.
So no, when you flash a new rom, regardless of what the new rom may be, you WILL lose all your data.
Best thing to do: back up everything, and then flash your new rom.
Also, if you happen to brick it, trust me, it happens... just fastboot or odin the same firmware you had, that should unbrick your phone...
Happy Modding!

Having trouble flashing nougat to my S4mini. When i connect to Odin it does not see the file. Phone is rooted and according to Rom manager my recovery is twrp but when I proceed from there it appears to look like a stock recovery. Because Odin doesn't see any recovery zip files I cannot flash. Any help is appreciated.

Odin can't flash zip files, that is why it does not see them. You need to use recovery to flash zips and Odin for tar files. Try relash TWRP for your phone model with Odinfrom neozones thread then use TWRP to flash zip from sd
(Edit the tar may be in the zip file, but you need to unzip it first)

[ROM][GPe] Android 5.0.1 Update - Lollipop (OTA from Google)

My GPe m7 just got the update notification. I pulled the file from /cache, and here it is.
The SHA1 checksum is in the filename, bad1c593ad07005d8e82754c36caa7e7db9b6cc2. This is not a test release or a beta, so as far as I can tell, I'm the first uploader! My phone is the international m7, running 4.4.4.
NOTE: this is an OTA from 4.4.4 to 5.0.1. It requires the stock recovery from 4.4.4, and so will cannot be installed by people that rooted or manually converted their phone to the Google Play edition. (This means me, in fact. I can't install this! But I'm uploading it in the hopes that a developer can apply the patches manually and make a flashable ROM.) This includes firmware, so installing as a Nandroid backup may or may not work.
EDIT: people in this thread have already uploaded the file and are trying to install it. I suggest browsing there, because here in this thread we haven't figured it out yet!

Link has been changed to androidfilehost, so you can try again. And unfortunately, the installer requires the stock GPe recovery, version 4.4.4. Does anyone know where to find that? I found 4.4.2's recovery by searching the internet, but that doesn't help.

Android Nougat [7.1] available for all Snapdragon variant Note 4

Guys, Android Nougat 7.1 is now available for all Snapdragon variant Galaxy Note 4s (which of-course include N910P Sprint variant) and as a result, I'm sharing here the link of the thread from where you can get an insight about the latest development of the ROM & other things.
The link is :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-verizon/development/cyanogenmod-14-1-t3495231
Kindly thank & support @hsbadr for all his hard work & time devotion for the ROM.
(I'm in no way to be associated with this ROM as this is solely the work of @hsbadr. All the credit goes to him for it).
The ROM works quite well on unlocked variant of N910P model with a GSM SIM Card.
Users on a Sprint network need to check about the feasibility of the ROM.
If anyone is interested in trying out the ROM, then kindly thanks @hsbadr & have a look at the below mentioned steps that I took to make it work on my N910P model using a GSM SIM Card.
1. This ROM even works on newest PJ1 bootloader & baseband. So, you can try it out without worries if you have taken the latest OTA update.
2. Perform a full nandroid backup of the current ROM.
3. Wipe all the partitions 3 times (except Micro SD Card) using latest TWRP recovery.
4. Download the ROM, GApps & Boot.img from the above thread mentioned & flash it in the following order:
a. ROM
b. GApps
c. Boot.img
5. Wait for the ROM to boot (it may take upto 15-20 minutes to boot, so be patient).
6. Complete the setup.
7. Enjoy Nougat on your device. :good:
Bug(s) that I've encountered:
1. YouTube videos have no sound on Bluetooth headset/plugs.
Kindly keep all the discussions related to N910P variant on this thread only so as to keep that thread clean.
The ROM is primarily meant for Verizon variant but works well with other variants too.
Will def have to check this out, Thanks!

It might work. Go & check yourself.
I'm using this ROM. The boot.img is not necessary to flash. Just flash the ROM and gapps like any other CM variant. I use sprint and had to fiddle with the *#*#4636#*#* menu for data/SMS to work and have to toggle airplane after a reboot but for an early build it's great. Battery has been wonderful. Other than the mentioned streaming issue (issue isn't present when streaming over Bluetooth) I've only run into GPS being fickle.

For me, the audio did not work with or without a Bluetooth headset.
Now, I'm not able to place any call (without any Bluetooth device) even when there is good network.
Also, Couldn't hear any voice even on Chrome, but yes, for an early build, the work is definitely amazing by the developer.

The build is unified, naming is just set to Verizon on everything. Device will show as N910V instead of P but that's fixable in build.prop. I haven't updated to the latest build, still using the trlte myself as daily driver.

Thanks, I finally seen that info in change log. But from what I've read in last few post, it looks like latest build has some extra bugs. So i think I'll try the trlte build for now.
That's what i took from it anyhow.
Does it matter which gapps i use? (Eg. Aroma, full, micro?)
I'm heading to work, so when i get more time I'll try, and maybe try root and exposed.

Don't believe xposed works on 7.1 yet, root hasn't been an issue at all for me. I did flash supersu 2.78 though instead of using the cm root. For gapps I used the micro since it was small to avoid conflicts but still had exchange included.
Not sure if it effects just the N910P model or not, but trying to access any .webm files crashes the entire phone. I can't even open the gallery up or it crashes.

What is a webm file? I'll test on mine if I can get one.
I just got around to installing. Anyone else having problems using root with default file manager? I can't open any thing but internal. But fx file works with root.
So it must be file manager
I downloaded the CM 14.1 and it works fine but I couldn't download gapps from github because for me this site downloads don't work.
So I didn't test a lot of things just make some calls (CDMA Carrier) and take some tour in system settings then I returned to Touchwiz rom again.

Are their any 7.0 Nougat roms available for the Verizon Note 3

I noticed that other versions of the note 3 have roms which run android 7.0, but I have not been able to find any which support the verizon version. are there any available for the Verizon Note 3?
Not touchwiz, I thought I saw aosp cyan type Rom some where but it wasn't for cdma model as far as I know

While you are correct for using an hlte recovery (they merged device support) most ROMs/update packages have a check for the model at the very beginning of the updater-script. You can manually edit the ROM package to remove that check or just temporarily use an hltevzw recovery.

CN 28S might be the best modem firmware

Heyyo,
UPDATE: I now recommend FULL firmware and not modem only firmware. I have links to then on my LineageOS 15.1 for X2 thread here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/le...geos-15-1-oreo-leeco-le-max-2-t3771577/page24
Use whichever feels best. Some say Chinese 28s, some say developer 466D so it's up to you to decide for your device.
Original post:
So after some testing? I think that Chinese 28s modem firmware might just be the best one of the bunch.
I get the best signal strength I've seen yet plus the fingerprint reader speed when the device is asleep is still darn good!
Usually, at my kitchen table I get two signal bars but meow I'm getting this just like the attached picture
Otherwise? Developer 466D is also really good some have reported. I'd recommend people test this if they find Chinese 28s not to their liking
Which ROM were you using when you flashed this? I just tried on RR and the phone enters a bootloop. It passes the LeEco logo and the screen goes black. Then, a minute or so later, the phone reboots by itself and the whole process repeats over and over

Thanks a lot! I was a little bit skeptical that it can make a difference, but somehow I decided to give it a try. So I've installed the 26s modem and I have to say that the fingerprint sensor feels much more snappier than before. Still it's not at the level of Letv 1s that I've owned previously, but it's fast enough. About the connection to the network, I cannot confirm anything, but the FP sensor is faster for sure. At least I don't have to stick all the finger to it to get detected. EXCELLENT!!
Thanks very much
the fingerprint is really better and faster on 26s
i was on the 23s modem firmware and some times the FP is not responsive and slow
but now it's really good .

Heyyo, I've tested it with (in no particular order) OmniROM, LineageOS 14.1, BlackX, Slim Roms, Paranoid Android, AEX, Pure Nexus Project and Dirty Unicorns. Modem firmware flashing works with any ROM.
With WiFi dropping? Hmm sorry but I haven't faced it yet... For your router does it have the latest firmware updates?
For mine I've also forced it to only use WPA2 with AES encryption. Works good as before it was set to auto mix of WPA 1 and 2 with both TKIP and AES encryption which is only good if you're connecting old devices like the original Wii or an original Nintendo DS which doesn't support AES and WPA2... So that could be something else to try

Yes, it has to be installed within TWRP. Just flash the zip and reboot, no need to wipe data, cache or dalvik.

Hhmm well every wifi device can act differently eh? Just my recommendation for your router anyways since WPA1 with TKIP encryption is nowhere near as safe as WPA2 AES which has less security weakness potentials (minus the recent one that is heh).
Otherwise? I'm not sure what to say amigo. Have you tried OmniROM last build? It is really darn solid.

Enter TWRP settings and make sure zip verification is unchecked

Downgrade from Pie to Oreo

I've been trying to downgrade from the latest pie release but I always get the same error due to how Samsung has blocked bootloader downgrades. Is there anyway around this or am I stuck on Pie?

You are probably stucked because you upgraded to the latest bootloader:
After updating bootloader to U5/S5 (as in case of G95xFXXU5DSFB) it will not be possible to downgrade it again to any U2/S2/U3/S3/U4/S4 version

Here's a workaround:
Backup your present baseband on TWRP, flash ALEXNDR Oreo's ROM then restore your baseband, otherwise you won't have mobile signal and your IMEI will be unknown.
So in theory the only way to downgrade to Oreo or less, is having the bootloader unlocked with TWRP right? if not, you're stuck
No Bootloader downgrade. Not possible.

Why would you want to downgrade anyways?

I can't speak for the OP but for me it is more battery friendly, has better perfomance, allow me to debloat more apps than PIE and has better mod/theme support and looks better (didn't like Pie UI).

Quick question for you @nemesisexsp as you seem to know what you're talking about.
I'm in the same boat as OP. attached is my SOFTWARE INFORMATION section with my baseband and whatever. Slightly different to what you've posted on your screenshot.
Can you suggest which files I should use from the ALEXANDR Oreo Mod selection? also, just the ROM, or do i need to do something with the BL files also?
I'm rooted (with TWRP), so that shouldn't be any issue.

I suggest you flash the last Oreo ROM available for the S8 model (SM-G950F/FD). After you flash it you can boot normally in the ROM and see if your mobile signal is fine, if it isn't just restore your PIE baseband on TWRP.
Here's the original post in _alexndr thread where you can find the ROM link:

Thanks for the quick response.
I made backups via TWRP just incase, but it looks like everything worked. [see image]
Thank you
It's also got me thinking...
-could you install other custom roms that are Oreo-based?
-What makes Alexndr's rom special?
-Is it technically possible to install stock oreo?

I think you can install other ROMs. I just suggested _alexndr because it's as close to stock as possible as the OP was trying to flash via Odin. But i believe that we can't install older firmware via Odin due to the updated bootloader.

Yes, many thanks.
I was trying to get as stock as possible but only found a NOTE8-to-S8 rom and nothing else stock-y. This seems perfect.

Because Pie is absolute trash on the S8 Active. Battery life went way down hill, constantly stutters like the CPU is loaded or it is thermal throttling, notification screen blanks preventing you from see any in the bar. Tapping notification doesn't always open. They ruined the camera UI. Control via bluetooth doesn't work anymore(forget the name but used to when I started my car it would automatically open Pandora and play. Instead now I have to unlock the phone and open Pandora manually".
I only wouldn't be surprised if it come out later that Samsung pulled and able and deliberately crippled devices to encourage upgrades. Joke's on them because my upgrade will be a different brand.

Unfortunately the S8 Active did not come in an exynos version AFAIK.
@nemesisexsp wondering, have you noticed much battery diff between Oreo and Pie?
