Bluetooth fails to connect with Parrot Mki 9200 - Droid Turbo 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
On the Parrot carkit in my car I get poor connection with my Moto X force (Droid Turbo 2). When the bluetooth is connected, the telephone connection fails to come up. A2DP is live, though. The HCI dump shows errors in the beginning, but my knowledge of the protocol is not good enough to understand the cause. I managed to get it working once when I cleared the Bluetooth connection app cache and data. Others on the internet suggested doing a factory reset, but this provided no solution to the problem. The phone is running 6.0 with the latest updates. Can someone help? The log is included in the attachment.

OK, A day of frustration, various tests and reading of logs I think I've finally cracked it. The bluetooth headset profile or handsfree profile fails to reconnect after one connection. For this one of two alternatives are an option. Clearing the data/cache of the Bluetooth Share app or going to airplane mode. Unfortunately both are not modifiable via Tasker without root. It irritates me, but at least the phone is now usable, be it with a filthy hack. This seems to be a problem with more than one Moto device, as it is also mentioned extensively on the lenovo/moto forum.

Found a work around on the forum. This seems to solve the problem.

can someone help with bluetooth?

Hi Guys,
I'm having this problem that is driving me nuts, don't really know how to proceed.
I have a car stereo a Kenwood DNX8120, which has parrot bluetooth hands free. It has worked very well in the past on an LG, SonyEricsson and the Nexus One.
On the Nexus S (I bought this used and rooted with CM7, so I don't know about a stock model) the bluetooth connects, then after some time, like 20 seconds, it disconnects. I can play this game forever, it won't stay connected.
I can use one of two methods to connect
1- put the phone in BT discovery and let the kenwood connect to it, or
2- Have the phone connect to the kenwood.
I've tried both with the same results.
I got a.logcat and I see a whole bunch of red entries at the time this happens but I don't know what to make if it and I don't know how to grab these entries to a file.
I have also tried a phone wipe and installed infin1ty's ROM and also the latest CM nightlies. Same friggin result.
I see in recovery there are options to delete dalvik and data but I don't know if they'll help.
can you guys help?
Thanks
Tried another device. The actual hardware could be messed up on either device causing this. Try your LG again to the radio and the try another headset to to the phone. Last but not least try the stock Rom .
P.s. cm7 had an issue on the evolution where by was not given a unique Mac address which caused issues for me connecting 2 cm7 EVOs (they would over write each other).
Hope that helps

Hi Thanks for the help.
Both LG and SE phones still work fine. I'm unable to find another nexus s so I dunno if this particular one.
But here's a new discovery.
I paired them using the HU. Now when I start the car, the BT connects then after a bit it disconnects. Well now I can go to the *phone* and manually connect to the kenwood and the connection holds!!! I have no idea what is going on with the autoconnect but it can apparenlty hold a connect if I manually initiate it from the phone.
All this time I had been trying to get the kenwwood to do the manual connection (after the auto connection faills) and that never held.
sigh...
Have you tried a headset with the nexus to see how well/bad it works? Also are you on the stock rom? If so take it down to your carrier and ask if you can try it on one of their units.

Right after the DP5 installation, I had to unpair the phone and car (2016 Mazda) because the phone would never connect. It was no where near as easy as that sounds, took me the better part of 30 minutes because of repeated "unknown errors" coming from the car.
The phone paired up just fine but I still have frequent and completely unexplained dropouts on literally every Bluetooth device I have (headphones, Moto 360, car and the list goes on). So far this has been the absolute worst of the previews for BT that I have ever seen.
But then, if you read around here, it sounds like there were a lot of these that had flaky BT hardware. Have not exchanged mine, but that has certainly been my experience since I bought this back in December.
I have no issues with Bluetooth and the latest DP. I have my phone connected to a Kenwood deck.

I wonder if I have flaky BT hardware? Mine was a launch phone and it has worked perfectly in my Toyota since day 1. However I've recently bought a fitbit type band and with that application (veryfit 2.0) installed and connected to the band then if I make a call in car it drops the BT after about 30 seconds with an error message on screen saying 'corrupted probe message'. I can manually reconnect the call (it's still active on the phone) but after another 30 seconds or so it repeats the cycle. Have upgraded to Nougat Dev Preview NPD90G but still the same. Removing the app and its binding (it binds in the app not the phones BT devices in settings) and rebooting the phone resolves the issue. Tried again with a proper fitbit and the issue is identical.
I will RMA it to see if I get another one that works. Now to figure out how to put it back to stock marshmallow. gulp.
I have the same issue pairing to my car's Bluetooth keep pairing failed

I had this same issue, I flashed the system file again and wiped the cache and dalvik. It seems to be ok now.
Check this solution. Pair with '0000' worked for me.

Since switching from my Nexus 5 with 6.0.1 to a Nexus 6P with 7.0 I am also suffering from bluetooth issues. Pairing itself is not a problem but the connection sometimes drops, controls in my car don't work properly, remaining track time is not shown, etc. Haven't even tried to make calls yet. If I can't find a solution I'll probably be going back to 6.0.1.
The proposed '0000' solution is not working for me as I cannot change the PIN on my Seat Leon (2016). The PIN is autogenerated and shown on both displays to be confirmed upon pairing.
Has anybody tried flashing the latest 6.0.1 radio image and use it with a 7.0 system?

Bluetooth blues

Hello all.
I am having some bluetooth connectivity problem with my moto g 4 US xt1625 Retus channel (non amazon version) stock everything.
Basically the connection to my smartwatch is unstable and keeps dropping on and off.
Normally I would be blaming the smartwatch for this BUT it connects absolutely perfectly to my moto G2 (cyanogenmod 14) without any hint of misbehavior
I've already tried;
Forgetting and re-pairing device (also rebooting phone before repairing)
Factory resetting watch
clearing app data and cache of system bluetooth apps ("bluetooth share" and "bluetooth MIDI")
Disabling 4G (sometimes interferes apparently)
Disabling wifi
Running phone in safe mode.
*edit - also tried disabling power optimisation for both system bluetooth apps AND the watch companion app
I also reconnected my smartwatch to my old moto G 2 after trying all these things and it still works perfectly.
Old moto G2 had blutooth 4.0 LE and this moto G4 has bluetooth 4.2 LE which would offer no comparability issues.
Has anyone had any similar problems with their bluetooth?
Thanks in advance
I think my next move will be to root, and start removing G apps that could be interfering with the bluetooth connection

I have had a problem with my Fitbit connecting that didn't happen on my G2 or G3. I keep my cordless home phone connected with no problem though. What I have to do is forget the Fitbit in my bluetooth devices and it connects fine. If it's even showing up in the bluetooth devices it won't connect. That seems strange that it will only connect that way but others have reported the same thing. Maybe try and see if it connects after you forget it in the bluetooth settings and it's not even showing up.

OK maybe you're on to something.
If I connect to the watch using the companion app, then enter bluetooth settings and "forget" the device..... It still appears to be connected
But a few seconds later, it automatically pairs and re-appears in the "paired devices" list.
Is there a way to prevent re-connect?
Actually, after "forgetting" it several times, It's staying connected and has done for a 15 minutes now.
I'll report back if and when it disconnects.
Cheers
Ok so the watch disconnected a couple of times in a few hours. (this is a huge improvement from before)
Each time, "forgetting" the watch in bluetooth settings caused an automatic re-pair and return to good connection.
Maybe I can use "tasker" or similar app to automate this unpair upon disconnect?
Cheers

Yeah, it's strange that it works that way. I think it's the device not compatible with that version Bluetooth. My Fitbit doesn't try to reconnect once I forget it unless I make it pair then it will actually work sometimes and sometimes it doesn't when paired. It always works if I don't pair it at all. Have you tried clicking on the gear besides your watch in more settings once it connects and unchecking what ever connectons it shows in the check boxes?

If i click the gear next to the watch in the bluetooth settings, the only options i have are to rename the device, or to forget it
I have no checkboxes or anything like thar.
Do you have advanced bluetooth settings installed or something???

Some of my devices have check boxes for contacts, audio, etc. but not all. I thought maybe that would be something to look at.

Ok, its still messing around. I'm going to install the Temasek unofficial cyanogenmod 13 and see if that is an immediate fix, or if the additional options offers a fix.

update;
after ugrading moto g4 to android nougat (7.0.1) I no longer have any issues with bluetooth connectivity.
6.0.1 was to blame!
my phone is updated to stock Nougat also and still having bluetooth issues staying connected to my car (2012 ford fusion with mysync) I will be keeping an eye on this thread.

I seldom connect my phone to mysync but my wife does. She also keeps her G4 connected to the Panasonic home phone system while home. I've noticed that since the update to Nougat mysync is very slow to connect on her phone. The Panasonic cordless phone seems to connect fine. Mysync will usually connect although she has to drive for 10 or 15 minutes before it does occasionally and other times it connects instantly. One time I had to delete her phone in the car and add it back. I wondered if it was a problem of it not disconnecting from the Panasonic, but that shouldn't be past the end of the driveway. Then again it may be just a rip in the space time continum. ?

Bluetooth issues

I have 3 main devices that I pair to my phone via bluetooth: watch/lg tone/car
The watch stays paired with no issues, but the watch is having issues swapping from the lg tones to the car and vice versa.
Anyone found a remedy for this?
As of now, I have to go into the bluetooth settings of the one I don't want to use and deselect media/phone, then go to the other and select media/phone. And even sometimes this takes multiple times to work.
My previous phone (gs7) had no issues swapping from the two.
Hi,
Did you get a solution ? I face the same problem and can't find any solution...
Just to clarify, when you are in your car and want to connect to it, the headphones are turned off, correct?
Having similar issues... Every time I try to connect to my car (stock Subaru WRX), I have to manually connect and it takes several attempts before it connects. Once it connects it usually doesn't drop though. Very frustrating...
Another poster resorted to getting a whole new head unit: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5/help/sony-xav-ax100-bluetooth-issues-t3634940

It's not in my car but with the bluetooth device of my motorcycle helmet. The reference is ncom bluetooth kit 3. I have to connect it manually and it takes several attempts before it connects. Sometimes it doesn't connect at all....
I have 2 headset Plantronics Backbeat Pro and Plantronics Backbeat Fit. They both work flawlessly
My Huawei Watch also works.
But my Nokia 616 Car kit wont connect at all.
And my motorcycle hemlet bluetooth kit, Cardo scala rider PACKTALK, connects, but the audio is slowed down to about 80 percent?
Same thing here.
I have been facing problems with a Sony SBH52 Headset and with my Opel Corsa E, stock infotainment system.
It gives me a hard time connecting but when it does it's stable.
I had the same with my gen 1 Moto 360 but after a factory reset to the watch and a reboot it's stable.

Ahem, I seem to be unable to find bluetooth in my app settings. Can you please give me a hint?
It's been driving me crazy these days with my SBH-52 and I want to try this too.
Thanks!
P.S.
I'll also give it a shot with a plantronics pro headset I have to see if it does the same.
Bluetooth profiles implementations, even though they passed certification, are not always made equal! So don't end up pulling your hair if a certain BT device doesn't play nice with another.
Just as an example... Head Unit X had big issues with the initial contacts sync, right after pairing with Samsung phones (already known to sometimes play around some other standards). It would only work after several reconnects. After several weeks of debugging (poor development guys) and reproduction test (poor testing guys) it was concluded that it is a phone issue caused by some wrong timing delays in the process of exchanging information between the HU and the phone. Samsung was informed and the ticket was internally closed.
I have similar problem with Bluetooth Earbuds. Phone simple doesn't "see" the Earbuds. But strange - it can see other Bluetooth devices and other devices can see Earbuds.
I'm sure this is a OnePlus 5 software problem.
Version OxygenOS 4.5.10
i have somhow issue as urs, i have Bluetooth pad lock and android watch, it sometimes connected and sometimes not, i do believe its software issue, im on 4.5.11
Yes, it is strange. After some restarts and on/offs connection suddenly appears

Bluetooth connection dropping with Nougat

I was having problems with Bluetooth dropping while on Marshmellow. After upgrading to Nougat my Bluetooth worked great for a few weeks. In the last week, I am having problems again with dropped Bluetooth connections. The problem is only with my Plantronics headset. I tried the headset with my wife's iPhone and it seemed fine. On my XT1575, after about 5 minutes of use the BT connection suddenly drops.
I have tried the following:
1 Forget and repair the headset
2. Clear cache on the BT apps
3. Booting phone into Safe mode and then pairing with headset
4. Clear cache on the whole phone
None of these changes have solved the problem. I am thinking about going back to an old NANDROID or even trying a factory reset. Before I try either of those extreme changes, I want to ask this knowledgeable community for its advice.
EDIT, Also tried turing off BT scanning location and turning off Media Audio. Still getting disconnects!
thanks,

I am going to try a NANDROID restore first.
If that doesnt work than I will do a Full factory reset back to Nougat stock!

You could reload the stock firmware too... it is available now, check the link in my signature.
Still trying to fix my problem where my Plantronics Savi 720 base station loses it connection with it's DECT headset. This only happens when my XT1575 phone is connected to the Savi base via Bluetooth. The headset and base stay connected when I use it with a landline or USB port. The BT connection seems to stay up, but the connection between the base and the headset is dropped. I ordered a new Savi 720 and still had the same problem (will be returning it soon). I tried my existing Savi with my wife's iPhone and did not see the problem.
Late last night I reflashed the whole -22 ROM which seemed to make the problem go away! After a NANDROID restore back to my previous 22 set-up, the problem came back!
After all the testing, the finger is pointing at some app or setting on my XT1575 causing the problem. Although, I still have the problem when I booted into Safe Mode.
I now tried just reflashing BTFM.bin. For my first test, the connection was solid for 15 minutes. It usually drops in less than 10 minutes. This is encouraging. Will report back upon further testing.
Any thoughts or ideas on what could mess up Bluetooth?
Was on a 30 minute call today with no drops from Bluetooth. Looks like reflashing BTFM.bin fixed the problem.
After 2 days of reliable behaviour, the BT connection problem has reappeared. I had two calls get dropped this morning. I reflashed the BTFM.bin file and still had the problem.
Im going to try to have Plantronics review the log file from their headset to see if that shows any information.
Can anyone suggest other options for testing or debugging?
PS: I am considering moving to another phone, like the Pixel XL 1st gen.
I'm assuming you have updated the firmware on the Savi as well and disabled wide-band audio? I had issues with my Plantronics Voyager Pro until I disabled wide-band audio.

Savi firmware is running the latest. Will have to check the setting for wide band audio when I get back home.
Thanks for the suggestion.
I turned off wide-band audio for deskphone and PC audio. I dont see a wide-band audio option for Bluetooth. Problem still persists.
I called Plantronics today. THe customer service rep has a Moto Phone, not a XT1575, and he has the same problem where the headset disconnects from the base. Even though the BT connection stays up. The rep claims that it is a problem the the BT chipset used in Moto phones. I sent him a log file from the Plantronics based. Hopefully, this issue can get escalated with Plantronics engineering.
I read the Nougat .23 has some updates to BT. I wish there was a way to try that. I am running .22. Isnt there anyway to downgrade back to MM so that I can than upgrade to .23? I know Acejavelin said it would brick the phone. Has anyone come up with an downgrade/upgrade workaround from .22 to .23?
Might be time for a Pixel XL 128GB upgrade (1st gen and not the 2).
