Sound? - LG G6 Questions and Answers

Is anyone having sound issues, i find the lg g6 has very low volume. i have to put it half way just to enjoy content.

Sounds about right

Compared to G5 it's very loud. I find myself turning it down rather than turning it up. The speaker is very loud compared to other phones I've had. Maybe not the best quality, but loud nonetheless.

For me usually less then half would been enough for volume. but for some reason i have to have it almost half or even more to enjoy content. I ask a representative from my carrier to help me and told me that they were getting a lot reports of bad volume.

Sound on the phone is okay, but when connected via bluetooth in the car, I would prefer it to be louder.

Odd, my G6 is loud via Bluetooth. On par with my 1+3T, S7 Edge, and Pixel XL

Louder than my S7 Edge was and louder than my Pixel XL too... All Verizon devices if that makes any difference

Audio quality over BT?

Hello!
I am reading more and more bad reports about the audio quality and loudness over BT, if you tried it (car specially) is it really bad and not loud enough?
The only thing I like in my One is the sound quality even on BT of my car (though it has aptx)
as far as i know, the g2 has aptx. ive used it for my bluetooth (through aux) and its the same loudness as my htc one. cant say there is a difference.
I can say coming from from an iPhone 5 to the G2 there is a little bit of audio quality difference. I wasn't sure if it was just me paying attention closer since its my first full time android phone.
The highs tones are very high and the rest of the sound is kind of neutral compared to the iPhone 5. In sound its like listening to a 128kbps song versus a 256kbps. If you listen closely enough you can hear a tiny bit of distortion/noise but I think if the equalizer was able to be adjusted that would not be noticeable.
Seems the same as my GNex. No complaints or concerns.

same for me coming from a gnex. sounds the same to me. if anything the bass seems stronger than gnex. i'm using jaybirds bluebuds x earphones though, not plugged in through aux in car.
I will try mine on the way home from work today. My Lg spectrum 2 Bluetooth audio sucked compared to my DNA, so hopefully there not the same
One of my favorite attributes of the g2 is that on my Jay bird bluetooth headphones, the sound quality blows away my ip5

Improving speakerphone?

Hi guys,
I made a post about this in Q&A but no results at all. I'm coming from the N5, while I'm driving I tend to put the phone on speaker ( can't drive and talk overhere ), I had no issue with the N5 people could hear me, the quality was great. Unfortunately, with this device the quality is quiet awful, no one can hear me when I'm driving really. Is there a way to improve this?
Considered using Bluetooth? Speakers are not the strongest point of Samsung phones so not sure you can hear well inside a driving car.

Not too much into bluetooth, I'll get my headphone worst case. It's not only inside the car, while at home, it's not that great neither.

Is the S5's speaker worse than the S4's? I tend to use the speakerphone quite a bit and the S4 is adequate at best.

Never used the S5, if the S4 speaker is similar to the Nexus 5 then s4 speaker are better than the S5.
i will agree with this. Because I actually had the HTC One and found out that even that phone has a good speakerphone than S5. Audio quality is another fringe area that can really improve the way you use your phone in ways you don't think about. I often watch video, play music, and Skype on my smartphones, without using headphones. I sometimes use the speakerphone as well. While there's nothing wrong with the Samsung Galaxy S4's speakers, which I had, they don't have the same loud, rich audio impact as the HTC One's excellent set.
I find that my s3 had a better speaker sound quality than the s5

S7 Edge headphone output quality?

I am coming from a One Plus One with V4A and Dolby Atmos, I use my Bose Sie2 earbuds and the music sounds phenomenal. How is the audio output for high end headphones sound on the S7 Edge? It's a major buying criteria of mine, thanks!
Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk
The volume is very low on mine, even at max volume. Once it's rooted I think we can change this but until then you'd have to use a headphone amp.
Simply not good. Noticeable static noise unless turn on UHQ upscaler in settings. (im using shure se535 btw)

That's a bummer. Does turning on UHQ and playing around with the equalizer make any difference?/ have you used V4A on the s7? You say it's not good, but coming from a One Plus One would it be significantly better?

Looking to pick up the S7 Edge next week, and headphone sound quality is pretty important for me aswell. What variants do you have? im in the UK and have read/heard the Exynos variant has better output
Exynos version here, Shure SE535s, and sound quality is fine. It's not "Audeze open-airs playing FLACs through a custom-tuned amp", but it's good for what I need it for. No static, highs are high, lows are lows, not getting noticable cross-talk or anything like that.

I have my s6 and an iPhone lying about - I'll try comparing it to those two.
I will say that I don't have a volume issue with the Shures - even walking through Paris or riding the Métro, I never turn the sound from Spotify (downloaded locally, Extreme quality) up over half or one notch up from there. I do use foam tips.

A comparison would be cool mate if its no trouble! Oh wow thats pretty good tbh. I tend to have my M8 on 3/4 or so on the volume slider.
I had noticed a slight degrade in quality.

How do the speakers sound

How do the speakers sound compared to the m8, are they better, loader, etc.
Sent from my 831C using XDA-Developers mobile app
M8 is definitely louder. It sounds good but the m8 is stupid loud and I miss it. I like the 10 better though overall
Sent from my HTC6545LVW using Tapatalk
I would wager a single speaker on the m8 is louder than the "two" HTC 10 speakers. It sounds okay, but it does not have the deepness of the m8 either. It is nice and clear, though.
It is fine for YouTube videos, but I wouldn't really say it is great for listening to music in a pinch. Definitely can't crank it up if you're trying to hear a video in public.
I am interested to see what it is capable of with a good eq once I root though. It sounds like it could still get louder without distortion. Definitely thankful they did the one speaker forward facing.
Sound pretty darn awesome. It's been awhile since I've had my M7-M9 but it beats the S7.

See my post and video here comparing the 10's speakers to the M8's:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66803934&postcount=28
My opinion the M8 sounds better than the 10. I informally tested by playing the same tune on spotify, and the M8 had better sound, and the 10 sounded like it was in a ten can. However, I can say that the headphones, both wired and bluetooth, (Anker buds) sound better on the 10. FWIW,

Did you change the audio setting from theater mode to music mode? Theater mode is default which switches channels to play all frequencies, giving it surround sound versus music mode which makes the tweeters play high frequencies and the bottom speaker play the mids/lows.

I'm with the rest of the consensus in that the M8 is louder; however, using PowerAMP and a custom EQ setting I found on YouTube, the 10 is much better sounding. The range is full and clear. I'm really liking it!

my speakers sound pretty bad i think. im not sure if there is a problem with them or not tho. does the bottom speaker sound louder than the top on everyone else's phone? i tried both speaker modes and it does nothing to help hear the top speaker better. i have to cover the bottom one to be able to hear the top one at all. currently it sounds like i only have a bottom speaker when using them.

Sounds defective to me. Top tweeter plays highs very well and is complimented by the mids and lows in the bottom speaker.
They both play together like a car system that has separate speakers to focus on particular frequencies instead of having both trying to play every frequency (like the M series) which hurts sound clarity.
Yea it may not sound as loud as the M series but the response is much better. There are phones out there that are louder than the M8,M9 but don't sound nearly as soon. Same concept but for the 10 versus M, quality over quantity.

Yeah I wasn't really comparing it to my m9 simply because I knew it wouldn't sound the same based on speaker placement. That said I did expect better and why I am worried if it's defective since I can barely hear the top unless the bottom is covered. I expected be be able to pick up on sounds coming out of both easily even if the highs and lows were separated.

My 10 is louder, but I think my M9 sounds a lot better. The M9 has a much more full sound to me.
It's good but it's got a massive and obvious flaw. the woofer being on the bottom of the phone and the tweeter being on the top means the sound is different depending on where you hold it. Dead in front of you with the tweeter and woofer equidistant from your ears, yeah, it sounds great, anywhere else - especially if you hold it landscape, eg. when watching a video - weird.
It's absolutely stellar with headphones though, which is the main way I listen.

That's why you put it in theater mode when you watch a video. It changes all channels to play all frequencies giving that surround sound feel, basically allowing both speakers to play everything. However, it'll reduce how clear it'll sound but it's obviously not for music. Pure genius from HTC.

I have noticed something: when i hear music that sounds in both speakers, the sound quality is very good ( i´m using poweramp), but when I hear the ringtone that only sound in the lower speaker and sounds very muffled and low
Somebody here have noticed that?
Solutions?
Thanks guys for the comments, I have only one question left...
- Currently I own a Lumia 950XL (I gave it a shot) and the way it records audio/bass anything its way better than anything from the HTC lineup was, of course M7 was really close due to the microphone from Nokia but I am curious how the m10 handles realllllly loud club/concert sounds.
Anyone care to try that out? thanks

Speakerphone (loudness, clarity)

Proper etiquette aside (hint: don't use speakerphone while doing your "business" in a public bathroom), rate this thread to express how you think the Samsung Galaxy Note 8's speakerphone performs. A higher rating indicates that you love it: it's loud and it's clear.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Had some time with note 8 display unit in Samsung store. I liked everything, but the external speaker. It is too high pitched, making listening to it a discomfort. I had the same issue with Note 7.
Today will go there again to double check. So far, this is the only thing holding me from preordering this phone

I'm using a 6P right now but will preorder the Note 8 when it will be available in my country.
I'm afraid of the speaker quality on the Note 8 because it's so frickin' good on the 6P.
Had some more time with note 8 display units in Samsung store. I was surprised to find out that equalizer settings were applicable to the external speaker sound. For some reason I had been thinking that those settings are for earphones only.
So I reduced the high frequencies and that's it, the sound became much more better without causing discomfort for the hearing. For those who will find volume level low, you can boost all frequencies and get much louder sound.
Finally I made my pre-order for a black 64 GB unit.

What about the clarity and crispness of sound? Samsung aren't known for.producing good sound even their TVs speakers are poor.
After using Axon 7 and nexus 6p I've got used to good loud clear speakers, this is my major concern with note 8.
For music it's miles away from iPhone 7 (not Plus, I have the "small" one) but not in the good way, it has smaller amount of bass and is more high pitched. I use my phone to play some music in a dinner room or in the bathroom so this is kind of disadvantage on Note 8 side.
Don't have any comparison on calling loudness and clarity but for music... it's shame that Sammy didn't make a stereo setup like Apple did with iPhone 7 which helped a lot.

You're saying you'd be glad to give up your headphone jack for dual speakers?
Honestly, Samsung should've followed Sony, HTC, or other phone companies that enabled speaker output from the earpiece alongside with the main speaker.
Lol hell no, I am not saying this. I am talking about the dual speaker setup you mentioned also.
Absence of jack is different story, maybe even fairy tail of greedy king who wanted to make all customers to buy wireless headphones which are expensive and most of them sh**ty af. Don't worry, that's what I hate about iPhone 7 the most from the start.
Coming from a 6P using Arise, in comparison, the Note 8 speaker is horrible.
Maybe I need to get acclimated to it, but I can hardly hear my alerts and texts as they come in. With notifications volume cranked to 11, switching ringtones in an area where a conversations happening, I really can't hear the tones. It sucks to be honest.
It's not a deal breaker but if I miss to many texts it could be. My 6p speakers are freaking amazing....Almost as amazing as the screen on my Note 8!
The speakers poor quality is absolutely the only thing on this device that I am not happy with

I think we would need root for mods like that.. I don't want to root... I wish we could do that. It kills me that I was comparing my S8 to my Note 8 yesterday and I then realized how much louder and still clear the S8 was over the Note 8. Now the size of it in my pocket and the dismal speaker loudness are the 2 things making me want to go back to the S8 until the S9.... I've only got 6 days to make my move..... Anyone else know of anything that can be done to boost external volume??

This works without root!!! Speaker Booster from the play store:

be careful, I found 10-20% boost was enough!!!
