[Q] Anyone on the 7.1.2 BETA BUILD received the final 7.1.2 OTA yet? - Google Pixel XL Guides, News, & Discussion

As the subject? ?

Wondering the same myself. I have not.
Someone did mention on an Android site that the beta users should see the OTA pushed in the next few days.

I've known it take over a week to appear ?
I think they prioritise all the older builds first then push it to us beta users ?

I'll not taking it until there's a way to unlock the bootloader Verizon's March ota update boo. It was too late when the Verizon rep was setting this phone up..

Doubt it will wipe. But you could flash the whole image removing the -w from the bat file.

just flash the system img only
pretty simple

I just got the 7.1.2 image OTA on my Pixel XL and Project Fi. My wife's Pixel hasn't got it yet.

Never used an OTA always flash image simple and no problems, I remember in the past sometimes battery drain etc after installing a OTA

no joy yet here on Google Store Pixel XL on Verizon.

I've been seeing delays in the Verizon rollout with this OTA, not sure why. I have a vzw Pixel however I'm on Project Fi and got the ota almost immediately. I'm not sure if that changes it or not, however.
We also need separate threads or disclaimers for those with locked bootloaders and those unlocked. To say just flash the image instead of sideloading the ota is ludicrous if the bl is locked. That simply can't be done.

Ahh right this thread was intended for people on the beta release ?

I haven't received the OTA yet, I'm on beta 2. I downloaded the update and tried to sideload it, but the installation failed because it says that the beta 2 is a newer build and it won't downgrade. I guess I'll just wait until the OTA from my carrier.

sideloaded the OTA file over Beta 2 tuesday morning and all went fine...have at it! :good:

Hey all, quick question and sorry if this should be in a different section...
I have the VZW Pixel, but used beups depixel8 for bootloader unlock. I am running stock NDE63V with a T-Mobile Sim. Can I flash the factory image with leaving out the bootloader? Or can I go ahead and just flash the whole image without the -w command.
Thanks!
Installing now, this better fix my lack of bluetooth in the car or I'm going to be sad.

Oreo OTA Now you see it, now you don't

Very strange. I'm on DP4. About 10 minutes ago I checked for an OTA to the new official 8.0 build and hey presto, up came the Android Oreo update available message. When I hit download and install, I got an error message and now the update is no longer available. Just says I have the latest version. Anyone else experience this?
I joined the beta program today. My version is 8.0.0. Is that beta or final?

I have this and amazing Internet speeds.
Exact same issue here
Wonder if it's those that are on DP that are effected, anyone confirm they flashed OTA successfully via DP or N?
It has been removed and is supposed to be online again, that says Google. Waiting and relaxing
I'm now on the latest version according to the updates section. Meh, I'll factory install it in the morning.
According to other threads, they had problems with signature of the update packages being incorrect. They stopped otas, and are dropping them again, I believe.
Just a second ago the OTA was available again. Tried to download it and got the same error message as the first time around. Once again it has been replaced by your system is up to date. Some crazy weirdness definitely going on here. I think I'll try again tomorrow.

Ah, that would explain things.
I started a help session, and they said I needed to be unrooted for the OTA to be able to do anything. I'm going to try unrooting, but tbh I'll probably just end up flashing from the factory image.

I knew it wouldn't install, but it usually downloads it so that I can use Flashfire. This time around it seems that it won't even do that.

[REF] Pixel XL Incremental OTA URLs (Sept 2017)

September security patch.
Note this OTA is an incremental, not a full OTA, and is probably useless if you are rooted. (Verizon carrier, and possibly others TBC)
This OTA will only upgrade you to 8.0.0/OPR3.170623.007 from 8.0.0/OPR6.170623.012 (approx 50MB)
https://ota.googlezip.net/packages/.../26b511854fb456051f200ae1b8054d5ab103df18.zip
Code:
ota-type=AB
post-build=google/marlin/marlin:8.0.0/OPR3.170623.007/4286350:user/release-keys

How is it incorrect?
Of course there is an OTA. Quite a few people have reported ot today on the pixel and xl forums. Add me to the list that got it. Google phone with a VZ SIM. It seems to be carrier specific.
Nor posted but Google yet, but it is out there. This whole O rollout has been really odd.
Well, the problem which I discovered, is that this isn't the full ota image so if you are rooted you can't sideload it. The full image is what is needed which would be close to 1GB in size.

If you don't want it, why are you even commenting in this thread? The OTA URL has been posted for anyone that does want it, not for people that don't.
If it's not useful to you - just wait for the 'official release' and stop commenting.

Your op link is unclear and probably not something others will want to use. What I'm saying is that it's not official OTA. Make that clear please. Then whoever wants to take a chance can.
There is no need to attack me for questioning this ridiculous OTA release.

If you want you can flash all, after removing the -w, the august image. Then take the ota, then reroot. I went that route because it was offered to my phone. There used to be issues with VZ updates constantly downloading and eating massive data. Have not seen that reported recently but did not want to risk it.

Yeah I will too. The security patch hopefully will contain a fix for the sot drain many of us are experiencing. I believe the VZW ota was pulled in order to fix the labeling. I never got it.
I don't have an unlocked bl so I can't do very much other than ota. Tell you one thing though, I'd seriously consider going back to 7.1.2 if I could. Sot has halved with this. At least. I'm extremely disappointed in this Oreo release which should have been another beta build.

There is no harm in checking.
Anyways, google improved ota system quite recently(around 1-2 weeks ago). When you manually check for ota, there is 100% chance that you will get the ota if it exists. It sounds too good to be true, but it is. Check that out.
So if you dont get ota, then something is really wrong.

Definitely unenroll. No reason to be in the beta program now. Even if you are stock with a locked bootloader you can manually sideload a full OTA. There are many tutorials on how to do this.

i'm actually asking for my second N6P which my mom uses, which is why i'm hoping there's a way to fix this without having to sideload since i'd have to do it with her via TeamViewer....
is it necessary to unlock the bootloader to do this or can i just flash the latest factory image or OTA with the bootloader locked via ADB?

It was just a suggestion. It didn't work for the OP either. I wonder what could be the real problem.

Factory reset and the update came right away,. Something in my data was stopping it... We shall see with the next one if it comes automatically in November...

I also haven't received an OTA update in quite a while. The latest update I was able to receive OTA is the August patch.
I enrolled and un-enrolled from the beta program with the hope that the Oreo OTA would push but only got 7.1.2.
It's a little unusual. I factory reset also after un-enrolling just to see clean it out, to get rid of any bugs that be preventing the OTA. Didn't work.
I would rather not have to sideload the OTA since I always make mistakes with ADB and command prompt.
I am on Project Fi fyi.

I was reading here and wondered why they'd get it before anyone else I guess it makes sense now...
And here and here
I just got my Pixel 2 XL from Verizon this weekend.
How long does Verizon delay the updates to their models?
Wow, would have guessed it would drop late this month since dp2 was just released a little over a week ago.
Anyone up north receive the update yet?

Usually no delay. On the original Pixel XL, they actually received it before others at times.
Any ideas on when the factory images will be put up?

Yes, but do it after installing the final 8.1.
I'm sure this is a dumb question, but I have to ask so I don't mess up my phone. I can sideload the OTA while on beta, right?

I just tried and it aborted, said the OTA was older than what was installed already.
Was on DP2 and manually flashed the official 8.1 in fastboot. Upon bootup I was prompted with an OTA update for DP2.
