A-Sure S3 - 5.1.1 Intel head unit KYD - How to root and rom update. - Android Head-Units

After a lot of time trying to find out more about this unit, I thought I would create a thread and start it off with what I now know.
The unit is similar to the Joying unit, it uses the Intel processor and is non mcd. The manufacture is Kaiyide (KYD) the rom is again similar to the joying but not quite the same.
Passwords are 3368 for the main car settings and 0808 to change launcher. There is a password for something to do with the door locking, which I dont know.
Root is achieved the same way as the joying using the method posted by MMTK84 https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69648860&postcount=84&nocache=1&z=8361786322568856
The latest rom is available using the link below, extract the folders and load content into root on on a usb stick put it into the unit and it will auto detect and update.
https://mail.qq.com/cgi-bin/ftnExs_...18440714350f&t=exs_ftn_download&code=0c66ff52
When i installed the rom, I used the apps and boot animation from the latest Joying rom download both have installed correctly. Im unable to load the mcu update as it searches the manufactures info and as its not JY it wont update. If anyone can help with this I would like to try it as the MCU software is a lot older than the Joying. Can this be achieved by editing the build.prop file?
Please add to this thread and edit as necessary. I hope this helps A-Sure unit owners as the information is very difficult to find.

Hi Rick,
I'm interested in making this thread too, there seems to be no resources for this unit whatsoever.
Have just purchased an A-sure unit, ball ache trying to figure it all out without a manual. Although, A-Sure have now sent me one.
Have updated the ROM with your help, looks quite a bit different now.
I'm not a developer, more of a meddler, am too old now to take it in like I once did.
Cheers for now,
Alan.

Hi Alan, thank you for adding to the thread! You are quite right there is almost no information available for the A-Sure unit. Fortunately the information can be put together from various threads here on the XDA forum. But having it in one place makes sense.
I know exactly where you are coming from and I am the same more meddler than developer and also a lot older than when i used to install car audio and security for a profession. Im pleased that you found my info useful.
I would very much like to modify the DAB app so that it shows the station logos - or use another one if anyone knows an app that will work.
I have updated the iGO app on my unit - ugh took me a while to get it working. for that you need root access.
Most of the issues are now cured on my unit, I just have a problem with loosing gps when going between apps ie from iGo to poweramp and back (music player - way way better then stock app)
Best regards
Rick.

extract the package then open the first folder / second until you see a group of files, put those onto the fat32 usb stick and then try to update

Hi Rick, I also have a S3 unit of A-Sure (Intel sofia, 1GB, 16GB, WiFi Version). It looks like that A-sure offers currently no updates. I wrote 12 emails with no satisfactory answer to my questions. The system of A-Sure is very bad translated in German and contains many software problems. I would also like to update my system, as you have done it. Unfortunately the download link is offline. Can you put it online again? I have the S3 unit with the physical buttons. This information is based in the MCU, isn´t it? The android System is the same one? Can I set the Android system in German?
Thank you very much.

Pls upload the Firmware. Original link Down

WTF, no answer

Because no one answer here, I tried to update the ROM on myself. I have downloaded the ROM of Joying 20170328 and unpacked. I Have deleted the directory MCU, and the files 0308 STM8UD.BIN and STM8_PROJECT cov.s19 (I read that must be the original of A-Sure). I copy the files on a SD card and put it into the GPS slot. Unit is switched on and the update has started. After 10 minutes, on the screen was: Please remove SD card. I have done it. Nothing happens. Reset. Unit rebooted and has Android further installed. Then black screen. Reset again. Android starts, everything seems to work . In the info bar is in bold red font: MCU and UI do not fit together. Looks stupid ... But ok.
The physical keys work, only the DVD drive does not work. Apparently no driver in the Android system available. TOMTOM can not be installed (here you have to root the device and change the serial number). The translation of Chinese in German is clearly better than in A-Sure, in the radio app the RDS text is also no longer overlapping. More I have not tested yet, I'm glad that I have not shot the device.
I Think, i´m waiting for the offical update of A-Sure (if there will be one, I don´t think so...)
Yes, these were my first experiences.
Whether I would recommend it, I do not know.
Many advantages I have not recognized so far ...

Good news from A-Sure. They have a new firmware, directly to Android 6. No problems with updating, even TOMTOM works without routing and changing the ID...

Good news, thank you.
I have a problem with german text to speech in google navigation.
I tryed also the update to joying, but wifi didn't work.
Is there a download link for the update available?
Grettings from Hannover.

Upgrade
I have used this upgrade, works perfectly but erases the IGO satnav.
I'd love to know how to put TomTom on this unit instead.
Alan.
My unit is an A Sure AS-S3A3 Picture in my Album, see profile.

I have updated my Asure Opel headunit Type S3OVG.
Before the update the text to speech from google navigation didn't work. There was also an update shown, but updatescreen crashes when opened.
Now, after the update, all seems to work.

I have updated my A-Sure Android 7 Zoll Unit.
All working.

where are you getting this update from ?
i have a a-sure and need to update

I got mine from holzwuermchen76 pm him.

Rooting my Pumpkin Android rckPX2 4.4.4

Hi, fellows
I have tried to root my head unit using: KingRoot, TowelRoot, Root Master etc and every single one failed. It is something that I am doing wrong? or it is not possible.
Please help!
Aparently, not possible...
What is a "Pumpkin Android rckPX2 4.4.4?" Searching for rckPX2 on the Pumpkin website turns up nothing.
My unit is this one on their website LM-C0676-US-A GeneralS: Android 4.4 Kit KatCPU: Rockchip PX2 Cortex A9 Dual Core 1.4GHzRAM: DDR3 1GBNand Memory: 8GBAudio output: 4*45W maxScreen Resolution: 800*480 Cold Boot time: about 25-30s - See more at: http://www.autopumpkin.com/car-dvd-...-control-for-toyota.html#sthash.FlVuWSf2.dpuf
Mike the Rockchip 3066 and the Rockchip PX3 seems to be the same processor just that the 3066 is used only in consumer products and the PX2 is used for consumer products and industrial applications.
I did post the link to both processors PDF to see if somebody can compare them and determine if I can use the Malaysk room with my unit.
Thanks for your help!
Sorry is PX2 not PX3.
The first 2 characters of Pumpkin model numbers indicate the OEM. I don't know who "LM" is, but it's not one of the known manufacturers of HuiFei type units. So, Malaysk's firmware is very unlikely to work.

Mike I was told by Pumpkin that my unit is made by Senzchen Winmark Electronics Ltd in China. I went to their website and they sell my unit under a different part number DQ6514

Do you know were I can find more info about that? I'm really with itches to flash Malaysk's firmware in my AL-C0241 or AL-5701 (they are the same unit) and I really would love to have the original firmware to put back if something goes wrong...
Unfortunately I have not being able to find a workaround solution yet. I want to flash Malaysk rom like you but I do not want to brick the unit so I keep looking and asking for help. I have read and being told the following:
a) You need to be rooted to be able to backup your original rom.
b) You cannot go back to 4.2 either.
So the only solution is to find someone that can look in my case to both processors the rk3066 and rkpx2 and respond yes they are the same go ahead and do it.

I just checked your unit in Pumpkin website and it has the rk3188 processor. Malaysk rom is for the rk3188 and 3066. If the only requirement to flash this rom is just about the processor then you should be fine but I do not know this, maybe somebody else in this forum could help with answers.

I believe it's not the only but it's the most important. Come on guys, enlight the nooblets here!!!
Malaysk's firmware is meant for HuiFei type units. It is not known to work with others, even if they happen to use the same processor.
For instance, the Winlink/Ownice units (they have their own thread) will not work with Malaysk's firmware, even though some use the RK3188 and have the same resolution as some HuiFei type units.
thanks for your input Mike! this is the input that was missing.
that means I MUST put my fingers on my original firmware before try a rooted image.
Thanks again

My 2 cents
I would just try to install the rk3066 version of the ROM and see if it works. I don't think you will have a problem, it should work.
I accidentally was trying to install the wrong one on my radio and it just didn't install didn't mess anything up.
Unzip the Rom and put it on a SD card with nothing else on it.
Put the SD card into the GPS sd card slot while the headunit is on and it will pop up a box saying it found a update or something and
just reboot the until and it should start installing it.
Well at least this worked on mine. Just do it you don't need the old ROM. Hope this helps
Hi all, I've a similiar car unit, same CPU, same screen resolution, I've found a link to sownload an original rom:

and here direct link:

inside there are both firmware and mcu, but I didn't find something to dump it to explore system files, from images seem to be better than MCU I have mounted on mine (specific Fiat Punto Evo car unit), I cannot Root it, cannot install CWM (bad update.zip message!), please, there is someone that can suggest me with (if there are) utility to use to dump it? it will be interesting also to investigate about it, to try to find some easy ways to root kk 4.4.4 rockchip px2 devices.
Thanks in advances.

KR-6206 Kaier

Hello Guys
I need some help in flashing my device. I was going to try and flash my head unit today and tried a few things and now i cant even run the restore factory defaults. Well it runs and runs and runs and tells me not to restart the head unit but nothing happens so i switch off and on and its still good. In short i broke it.
The unit switches on and loads up fine but the wifi is all messed up i have to specify ip address to get anything to work.
My aim here is to flash to kitkat if not possible then back to factory. I managed to find this web site with firmware for my radio apparently. I cant find any instructions on how to do the update or do any kind of serial number matching or any kind of identification to avoid flashing wrong. I cannot post the link If you google kr-6206 Firmware its the first link and its by a website firmware-portal. I have registered to there site but cant find any kind of help or contact us. Even tho they say to contact them.

I realize this question must have been asked but not for this radio. If there is a good guide someone can recommend and also if someone can tell me if i can use the files i downloaded to try restore my radio to a proper working radio. Its really frustrating. I dont wanna brick the radio

Thank you so much the king root managed to root my device. The only thing is none of those radios look just like mine. One very similar but not 100%.
The supplier from eBay sent me the software files but it dose not update android. Still stuck on 4.2.2. Im afraid to update. I need to figure out how to make a backup first before trying.
All and all the radio works now but no audio from the on board amp im guessing the power IC is fried.
Will keep you guys posted and thank you for the help

So the Agent sent me this. V2.9.5_20150513_800X480_SYSTEM_KED.rar. Its only 174.91M and contains 2 files. It did not update Android to higher version just the system version should i use the Version (2.9.1 800x480 - Most likely default software taken from AN-21U
@mxv68 - V2.9.1_20141217_800X480_SYSTEM_KED.rar) From the XDA forum will that work. Sorry to be so noob at this. First android device .
They have really not made this uncomplicated.
Try to use the navi IQ software from the 4pda forum, it's a hybrid rom.. it updates just Android so if it doesn't boot I can always go back if u have the old files.. with Phoenix suit u can make a backup.. but I didn't try it.

New Head Unit MCU MTCC-KLD6-V2.91 Android 5.1.1

Hi everyone, I just purchased a head unit for my 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander and when I hooked it up on the bench last night I discovered that the MCU Version is MTCC-KLD6-V2.91
I'm new to Android Auto, just started reading about MTCB and MTCD MCUs but couldn't find a single link or article about the MTCC. What did I get myself into here?
Btw. Unit looks and works great (bench test only) all apps except for Sygic work awesome (bench test only)
Hello rafy, hello neo,
I got the same unit with the same firmware etc.
I wanted to install TomTomGo, but unfortunately it doesn't work. Other User posted their solution here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android-auto/mtcb-software-development/solution-tomtom-connection-to-internet-t3368026
So that's why I wanted to install Xposed Phone Id Changer. For that I need my device rooted. Could you already rooted your device?
Where can I find the guidance to root a device, or is this depend from the Type?
Thanks for your feedback
Hello all,
are you able to help me. Finally I could rooted my device. But I'm not able to install the XPosed Framework. Do you have any advice for me? In recovery menu there is no option to install anything,- only updating / install a MCU. In different MTCD threads they mentioned, that a backup (for example Nandroid) doesn't help because we will not be able to recover the backup.
How could you install XPosed Framework on Lollipop?
Hello all,
I got the confirmation from seller that this is NOT a new unit. Only the MCU version jumped from MTCB to MTCC.
So that's why I installed Android 4.4.4 from Malaysk Rom. And all is working very well ... including TOMTOM.
But please notice I do not give any warranty. If you flash your device, you will do that on your own risk.
I can only confirm that I could successfully install Malaysk Rom on my unit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...9#post67280169

@Enemy004 I was also looking at that solution. But not tried yet.
I did spent a lot of time to get it working, but finally gave up and sent TomTom an email.
They told me a bs story that the chip-set is not compatible, (rt3188) just find that a little hard to beleave.
Also i contacted the seller and the factory reset password is "126". Its looking to be the same as this unit. :

(There is also a code to root the unit in the above description.) How did you root the unit.?
Also how can you enter the recovery menu in the unit.? (i only have 4 buttons. power/home/navi. And a hidden reset button)
Hope @Malaysk is willing to take a quick look at the photos, and is able to tell us what unit/rom we have. And if we can use any of his custom Rom's.

You don't need to root your device if you want to use Malaysk's Rom. I rooted my device with hope to install the XPosed Framework on Lollipop (Android 5.1.1). But it seems that nobody could to that till now. But if you want to root your device because you will keep your rom:
Factory settings> *#hct#root#
Install King Root latest version from their website
took few minutes after being stock on 90% and succeeded
You can enter the recovery menu if you press the reset and the power button at the same time for somy seconds. Release first the reset button. After that your Unit will restart in Recovery Mode.

@Enemy004 Thank you for all the information.! :good:
Just to be 100% sure, your device had identical (1:1) information as shown in the first post pictures.?
And the flashing of the Malaysk's Rom went smooth.? No issues.? Or not working buttons etc.?
Just a little hesitant because the device is brand new.

Please check.
For me Malaysk rom is a well-conceived rom. A lot of settings are can be found more easily than in the original rom. Moreover I love the look from this rom. At the moment I try to use a nice Icon Pack.
But my main intention to buy this radio/unit was TomTom.
It's important to read the thread from Malaysk. There are a lot of instructions. If Malaysk found a solution regarding XPosedFramework on 5.1.1 Android. I will install this.
And yes, all buttons from the Unit will work. Moreover all buttons from your wheering steel will still work. For safety you may note down (or make screenshots) from all factory settings.
While flashing the rom, having patience is an important attribute.
Have a nice sunday. If you want another picture. Let me know.
@Enemy004, +1 to all the thanks. I ordered a unit a couple weeks ago that has an MTCC MCU. I very much appreciate your efforts to determine what MTCC is.

Short:
I installed Malaysk ROM (Android 4.4.4) on my 5.1.1 radio. And my radio work very well. Malaysk provides ROMs for 51.1, too. I decided for 4.4.4 because of XPosed Framework.

Check the "Lollipop for MTCB" thread, @dsa8310 has a solution.
Could a Mod move this to the MTCB forums and rename them "MTCB/MTCC" forums ?
If it is possible to flash Malaysk's android 5.1 ROM, then why not move it into the MTCD forums, because I would rather flash the new version than the old one...

Because its NOT an MTCD unit, its an MTCC unit. Malaysk does ROMs for MTCB/MTCC and MTCD.
It is NOT possible to flash Malyask's MTCD ROM (I never said it was), it is only possible to flash Malaysk's MTCB/MTCC ROM.

Which ROM have you used? Isn't is slower than the original which was already terribly sluggish for me?

ALL these units are the same inside, for whatever car and including the universal ones. Flashing is the same for all versions as well.
Please read the thread I told you about yesterday for more info and ask questions there, this thread is useless because ALL units are the same for software purposes !!
To update, put update.img on sd card put sd card in slot (in the GPS slot if you have 2) and go to settings/update, it will update automatically. Alternatively hold down power and reset, release reset then power and you will boot into recovery, then install from there.

Hi!
I remember this, but the links in the post you quoted were already expired yesterday.
It was of no use, except giving me information someone got the solution, without possibility to use it.
Thus I continued the search, not willing to make use of your time...
For now, I still have no solution for me. I found a user that successfully rooted himself the unit with Kingo Root.
I didn't work for me.
So, still looking for the solution. I also have written a priv to the author of the ROM you suggested.
Kind regards,
Tomasz

Hi!
I remember this, but the links in the post you quoted were already expired yesterday.
It was of no use, except giving me information someone got the solution, without possibility to use it.

Its just a simple case of looking in the forums to find the thread - ALL your "problems" were solved months ago, they are not problems anymore, just read the thread entitled "Lollipop for MTCB/C Head units" :

With all due respect, but you've sent me the same link as in your first message to me and as I've writted - it is not working. It says:
Nothing found
The owner may have deleted the file or restricted access to it.
Or you might have received a link with a typo.
It's easy to send Yandex.Disk links to your friends. Even large photos and videos can be sent in one link.
Don't judge me 'from the above', as I have spent more time seeking the XDA (time I don't have when working 2 jobs) that you obviously think, and found no clear and obvious solution.
Please note that XDA is not indexed by google, what you can fin when googling is useless HuiFei Wiki (USELESS!!!!).
On XDA you may only find single threads, which is still useless, as there is no simple way to swich to some usefull information.
FAQ?
Those are only marked threads.
Seeking my problem among this is a disaster.
I would expect a direct link on XDA: "ROOTING the device" -> choice of devices using "MTTC-KDA6", etc. codes, and then full tutorial how to make this work.
For now, there are only opinions of people that report to succeed, but without a solution for me.
So please...
Any real solutions available?
Kind regards,
Tomasz

Well something is wrong then because I checked the link after I posted it and I ve just clicked on it now and it goes straight to the correct place . . .
Nevertheless you can easily google it, thats how I found the link anyway as I did not have the thread open at the time, google is the quickest way to find stuff on xda. Another method id to look in the "Android Auto" section of xda, theres a general section and FOUR MTCB/C sections, a Q&A, a general section, a software section and a hardware section, I m surprised you have not been able to find them.
The wiki is not "useless" it has lots of useful stuff in it, just because it doesnt happen to cover your problem does not make it useless.
The rooting method is in the wiki, if it does not work then the thread I keep mentioning has all the solutions and help you could wish for and many many people with the knowledge and experience to help you, all you need to do is read it and post in it.
The MCU is irrelevant to rooting so you will not find any links that will help you mentioning the MCU.

Seicane Android 10.0 - cutom roms and root possible?

Hi guys, im sorry if im asking in the wrong place but I dis not know where to start but any help is welcome.
I have just recently purchased a Seicane android 10.0 2gb ram 32g rom head unit for my 2012 Hyundai Elantra from Aliexpress.
I have not yet received my headunit however was wanting to know if there was a custom rom option available for the android 10? I see that there are many options available for previous android versions however I am yet to see any info re android 10 and custom roms/rooting options for it.
If anyone is able to point me in the right direction it would be a great help. Not sure if i can post links to the actual product but can provide a link via message if necessary

Thanks for the reply, I am not entirely sure if it is an MTCB unit. Please have a look at the attached specs screenshot and let me know if it looks like the unit you are referring to?

Thank you for taking the time to reply. Perhaps I will need to wait to get my hands on the unit to see if I can get some further info. For now I will do as you suggested and read through that wiki!
If anyone else has any idea or can point me in the right area, please do so

I am not familiar as is not an MTCD device.
I'd suggest starting with the wiki and searching the forums, search for k2001

Hello everyone. I received an updated Firmware directly from seicane for their head unit. This is Android 10 update for the 2/32 GB unit. Everything seems to be working great so far on unit. If you would like to try it for yourself please feel free to download and install. I'm not too tech savvy so if you have any questions I'll answer them the best I can. Thought I would share for anyone to update their own unit if possible
PLEASE BE ADVISED YOU USE THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!
I will not be held responsible for any damages done to your own unit.
Thank you!

The thing is, I can connect my phone to the radio unit, but I can't search for Bluetooth devices because there isn't a option for Bluetooth for it in the Android Menu.
Also the car unit doesn't run anything at background, except Maps or music app (only if it's playing something)
2/32g unit?
Thank you for the update. Question please... What do you mean by 2 unit? I have an Allwinner T3p1 k2001 Quadcore 1024x600 screen A23 Android 10 and wondering if I could use your update in case I brick mine while trying to root... Do you know if your update would be compatible with a quad core? Trying hard to find a way to root but cant find my device in twrp and super bummed no one has guided isoking with his rooting desires since I have the exact same model and MCU to the T. I appreciate any guidance you could give. Not sure which Magisk img or twrp would be ok to use for my device, all usb drivers I've tried do not work, and really want root access with Google install capability. Thank you!
These are Allwinner based on the Sunliq platform..Allwinner has locked USB debugging on these units, and there is a formal petition against them for that, they dont play clean with GPL..
Since there is no operational USB debugging, it cannot be rooted or custom recoveried for now..
Hello All.

You can root it, i rooted my junsun 2gb / 32gb.
Check the root instructions for the joying sc9853i, there is a manual (developer.zip).
I don't had the luck to get an update file from supplier.... but I found a matching update file for the junsun unit.
I can upload the K924B-91212 firmware which I have rooted, if you want.

On fake 9.0 in real it is android 8.1
For rooting you need an valid bootloader image. This you will found in the update file from the supplier. You need to patch the boot image with magisk and flash the patched image back.

Hi,
My unit is Junsun V1 Pro 4GB/64GB.
Did you manage to upgrade the firmware?
Do you know if the Joying sc9853i firmware matches Junson?

No I don't upgraded my firmware, I only wanted root permissions.
Check @surfer63 post he wrote that it should possible to upgrade to joying / teyes firmware.
Before that try I would make an backup of the single partitions.

Hey, tchleb. That sounds interesting about the Teyes firmware. I went and saw a page for their unit. It looks like theirs comes with a front DVR cam app that also has ADAS (lane detection collision warning).
Do you know if there's somewhere I can find out more about that? I can't find any ADAS app that will let me use one of the USB DVR cams. All the ones I can find seem to be designed only for phones and want to use the built-in internal camera of a phone to work.
What's your name, by the way? I'd like to address you with something that sounds like a name. ?
I'm Stephen.

I would say 4pda is the right place for that.
I don't know if it's possible to use the ADAS App from the Teyes firmware.
Hi guys,
do you also have a bluetooth problem? I have one that I can only pair one device at a time. In addition, it happens that after pairing the phone, all contacts are lost.
I asked the seller for a new soft, he sent me ver. K989B, in theory this ver.is for Yunsun 4G 4/64, but when I compare it with ver. K924B both are identical except the config.txt file in the main folder:
K989B:
Code:
#test
sys.fyt.bluetooth_type = 1
com.fyt.android.firmare.version = 9.0
K924B:
Code:
#test
sys.fyt.bluetooth_type = 0
com.fyt.android.firmare.version = 9.0
I'm a little afraid to use the software I received.

Your both problems are common known problems, for more infos read @surfer63 faq.
Can you please post a Screenshot from your complete systeminfo here, maybe I have an update / or the same version to downgrade it if the new fw will not fit.

Thanks for helping, please find attached screenshots,
@ grzech666 Thank you very much for the firmware, the devices are identical.
Although my device is updated to date 29-2-2020, makes me think if that could be the reason for your problems with OBD contacts and connection?
continue with the problem ?.
Have you tried checking for updates through the device?.
Regards, and thank you very much.
Mine is dated 2020-04-09 and the only different I see is the Bluetooth version, 8.1.7-27_Built-in and MCU 19.12.24 13:49:27 NOR_53_L82_G23P48F64_V:1.0_FYT
OBD connection work together with phone, did not switch it on in settings.
Bluetooth contact sync did wipe out my Google contacts, I have restored them and turned off Google sync.
