Install troubles on HP Pavilion X2 - Phoenix OS News, Q&A & Development

I have tried a bunch of times to get this to install and have hit a number of problems when trying to install dual boot on my HP Pavilion x2 12-b020nr 12" Detachable Laptop with Intel Core M3, 4 GB RAM, 128GB SSD.
Basically - If I install with the windows application from PhoenixOSInstaller-v1.2.2-265.exe it installs and boots fine and all goes well. BUT - then it seems to insist installing versuib 277. When it updates it hangs during reboot. I have read a few reports about that but haven't seen a real solution.
Next - I try to install from PhoenixOSInstaller-v1.2.3-277.exe and all seems to go well. But when I reboot the system it loads the grub screen but selecting Phoenix OS just ends up with a reboot.
I have fiddled around in Grub trying to get it to boot but I haven't figured out any errors.
SO - is there a way to prevent the 277 update?
Some slick way to just install the iso to a USB stick and copy the new 277 kernel over instead of letting the update process proceed?
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Frank

toshiba encore, bios/Android

hey guys i have a Question... i have managed to boot android on a USB Stick and At start up "bios" i can pick that to boot from, no emulation just android standalone, any one know if you can do this on a toshiba encore, im not sure how you would get to the Bios on a windows Tablet...
Also is there any USB to Bluetooth Converters?
cheers craig.
Most of the windows tablets either require a keyboard connecting on startup or a combo of the windows button + a volume key to enter BIOS.
As for USB to bluetooth, 35 billion results on google werent enough? They are *very* common, cheap too.

i ment if i were to install Android to a Micro SD, "like i did on my Desktop, and made a dual boot and windows but on a HDD" would i be able to boot from it? ie what about the touch drivers would there need to be support or would it run all ok? im guessing someone would have to make drivers for it to work?
cheers craig.
You didnt mention anything about installing android to microSD, just asked about bluetooth and opening the BIOS.
Atom does not support booting from SD.
There are a few devs working to build kernel and build for Asus t100 and dell venue 8 pro.
Do you think their work and progres can be applied on the toshiba Encore according the same bay trail CPU that have in common ?
INstall Android 4.4.x on Encore Dual boot
This is totally Experimental
"i 'm not responsible of any thing "
So Backup first
&
then
First of all you have to Disable Secure Boot
Run these commands in an elevated permissions Windows command shell:
powercfg /h off
manage-bde -status c: (checks bitlocker status)
powershell
PS C:\> Disable-BitLocker -MountPoint "C:"
manage-bde -status c: (after above command finishes, makes sure your disk is really decrypted.)
then disable from boot menu:
to do this:
first shutdown tablet
press vol + & power down to enter boot menu
select setup & disable secure booting
& download Android image for your BayTrail tablet;
https://01.org/android-ia/downloads
After this Follow INTEL official Guide
https://01.org/android-ia/guides/quick-start
Report if Helped;
*Edit: the Android Image provided by Intel is 64bit but most of Our devices have 32bit UEFI, Because of this Image not booting up, As our Devices supported 64bit so Ask toshiba to release A 64bit UEFI for Encore, Or have to wait till Console OS launch publicly
hi umar_fiaz
not directly related to this as i dont want to do a dual boot, (i cant even image my encore), however if i could though id happily put android onto it also..
just wondered if you could look at this which i posted elsewhere, and give me any advice, thanks
i have an encore. i recently selected the option to delete data and partitions, via the maintenance utility, thinking i was restoring it to factory defaults. i didnt make a recovery disk. i didnt think id need one.
aps2.toshiba-tro DOT de/kb0/HTD4103K90000R01.htm (edited ink to enable posting)
in the lnk above you will see the options listed at "2. Booting to the boot device menu", and i now have nothing present here. i cant boot to usb which is what ive been trying. ive tried w8 images prepared with pendrivelinux DOT com/ (edited ink to enable posting), plus ubuntu and xubuntu and i can not get the encore to read any usb images.NOTHING ever is read by the encore at thuis option after pressing volume up/power
i know there is this situation with intel bay trail and uefi booting, but i really dont understand this, and ultimately i just want an answer on how i can image the thing with w8, or even a linux flavour that is stable, i dont mind
could you please help me with advice and steps on how to get the encore to read a suitable image so i can at least use this thing
much appreciated

Okay so for anyone with an encore with the "baytrail" soc and a 32 bit efi only bios or really any bay trail device with a 32 bit efi only bios... I spent my day reading into this dilemma and I managed to boot a modified 64 bit efi of grub with a 32 bit bootxxx.efi (bootia32.efi) and I got grub to boot the live cd of android x86. of course I haven't got passed the blinking cursor but hey I GOT INTO GRUB TO BOOT THE LIVE CD/INSTALLER. Therefore we theoretically have a way to install android, Ubuntu, etc. Now im gonna try to modify the android on intel image (4.4.2_r1-ia2) so it can boot the installer as well. I will report back on any progress.
P.S. I know this post is sloppy but I just want people to know it is POSSIBLE to boot android.
managed to boot Android on Toshiba Encore but when loaded screen goes blank
android-x86-4.4-r2.img from http://www.android-x86.org/releases/releasenote-4-4-r2
I think a supported kernel & drivers for Encore will fix that,....
Any help will be appreciated

Trio PRO-8, Windows 8.1 to 10 Botched upgrade

So, I know I botched the upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 and when I boot the Trio PRO-8 it automatically goes to a Windows error screen with "press the Windows key to enter UEFI firmware settings. Error Code: 0x0000225"
There are several places to go, that tell you how to factory reset, enter boot mode on the Trio Stealth, but I have yet to find anything for the Trio PRO-8
Has anyone used or modified this device? I've contacted Trio, but I keep getting the run around because I mentioned Windows 10, they think I am still trying to install Windows 10 and keep telling me to call Microsoft. Microsoft can't help me with this issue, or I would have already known about it. There is no "Windows Key" on this tablet. All I want to do is figure out how to re-load either the Factory installed OS and start from the beginning, or install a fresh copy from the SD card.
The tablet itself, before I botched the upgrade WAS a decent little table especially getting it on sale on top of it being low cost, up until this point I had been using it regularly for the last 6 or 7 months without issue, maybe longer, can't remember how long I've had it now.
At any rate, I appreciate your time for reading this, and would be grateful to any help to get this thing back up and running before my Grandson comes up to visit next month, when he's here to visit, it is his movie player
With an adapter, I was able to hook up a USB keyboard, even pressing the Windows key did nothing. However, after trying every F key at boot, and a few others, I found that the [Esc] will get you in to the system's UEFI bios. I've been experimenting with settings. I left my card reader at work, but tomorrow I'm going to make the SD card bootable and put a LiNUX distro on it and install that over Windows. Since I don't know what my Windows 8.1 key was for this device.
Going this route because the keyboard has to be hooked up with an adapter and there is only one port. I may try a powered USB hub and see if I can boot from USB with the keyboard installed and a flash drive.

This post is probably no longer in the right forum now, especially if I outline the procedure I used to get LiNUX on to this Intel based tablet.

No luck as of yet:

- Can't get it to boot of the Micro SD card
- Will only boot to the Windows error message
- will keep trying
hi
Amigo gets a multi USB otg, a mini keyboard with pad and usb wireless connector. I have the same tablet trio pro 8 upgrade to windows 10 as well. I have another problem with the various touch screen controllers. I can not make it work. I am using it with the keyboard but I would like to use it free without loading keyboard.
Already solved your problem?

All the physical buttons don't work. Power button doesn't work, so there is no way to turn off the system. Volume Up and Down button also doesn''t work. But touch screen works fine. How to solve this problem? any idea? My tablet is Unbranded Tablet 10.1 from Best Buy
hey,
i got it up & running on my uefi windows 10 lenovo yoga (after some struggle i also have dual-boot). my question - how do i get gapps and supersu? it's not like you could simply flash some zips, as there is no recovery
No Playstore!! Browser does not download files!!!
So after wasting 400mb of data and roughly 30 minutes of my time, I discover that there is no preinstalled PlayStore, the preinstalled browser will not download APKs and trying to install apps from the online MarketPlace only discovers devises that the email used to Sign In with is associated to, not the device this is installed on.
These things SHOULD by all ethical means be stated in the description to prevent others from wasting both their time as well as their data.
I want to see a solution to these problems Shanmukarajan. Should you decide to neglect this issue, I won't hesitate to have this post reported to the moderators.
Thank you in advance for your prompt support on the matter.

you can not create a data.img file that is larger than 4GB on a fat32 partition...
how do we fix that?
It’s installs fine but when restarts windows is just starting every time and it’s not coming up with step 12 asking me about windows partition and creating boot item
I performed the installation process about 10 times with different settings but none of them seem to install Android on my HDD. The live version works and there are no errors whatsoever, but even after installation there is never an option to boot the installed Android. Only live, debug or again option to install the OS. Does anyone know the solution?

Have you tried selecting yes to GRUB 2 during installation? It's been a little while since I went through the process, but I believe that was what I had to do to get it up and running.

Yeah I have the same issue with my Sony VAIO Duo 11. To start from power off I have to hit the special Duo Assist button, then F11 to boot from usb, then go thru the (re) install every time, so boot takes a couple of minutes, but it always bring me back to the same great working Android with all apps and setting unchanged. I don't understand, but I just happened onto it. Be sure to not format or install any grub (not really sure about grub or grub2), but yes to make it writeable. Then you get an awesomely fast Android.
I don't even want Windows on that machine, but I'm afraid to kill all the partitions and start from scratch as the Duo has some weird builtin Windows boot stuff hard wired. I'm not sure if Android could boot without the Windows partitions.
When I am creating a new partition with 16 GB of space does it mean that Android is going to use just this partition and 16 GB or is it just for the installation files and Android will see my whole HDD as the internal storage?
Could you please let me know how you got it up and running? I am on a UEFI yoga as well, but after the installation,
grub doesn't show up and my computer boots automatically into Windows
Thanks in advance

Did you change the boot sequence in bios? Select android to boot 1st, then Grub should ask you which os you want to launch. I installed grub 2. I also went with the triple boot. My laptop is an Asus x401a with windows 7. Along with ubuntu and android. x86 Nougat.
A little help here mates,
I installed it alongside a windows 7 ultimate.
Gave it an 80gb Partition (fat32)
So I'm planning a dual boot here.
Here's my Steps:
used rufus to create bootable from android-x86-8.1-r1.iso
booted to Flash drive
installed android to 80gb partition (with grub/windows boot entry/ and data image of 2048MB)
after installation, Reboot to test boot options
grub didn't show up, booted directly to win7
Did some researches, and from those researches I should disable SECURE BOOT, but bios don't have that option.
Also tried EasyUEFI Tool which didn't even work in windows 7
Also, no settings for UEFI or Legacy.
Boot Order doesn't show Windows bootmanager or grub too, only HDD....
I installed android in ASUS Eee Notebook Laptop 1201b
I think the only problem here is grub cant load, but I run out of solutions, so here I am asking for help.
every android on work fine in my tablet(z3735f) but there is a bug in every os no sound in headphone any one tell me how to fix it

Lost sound with update
Hi Guys. After days of setting up my cheap X86_64 Chuwi Android box to run PhoenixOS and windows and to boot normally I lost sound after update. I had the hacked 2.0.1 version with gapps and root from a forum on the PhoenixOS website. Sorry I can't post links yet. So somehow someone got sound to work on this device but not sure how they did it. Windows says my soundcard is a Intel SST Audio Device (WDM). So now I have 2.0.2 but no sound. . Any Ideas?
Hey , where to download 2.0.2 32bit ? 64 bit is not working for me , same Problem like remix 64, blisspop 64 and all other Android x86_64 ... Just looping before bootlogo. I dont understand why becorse win 7 and 10 64 also working fine like of all Android x86 32. thanks
Version 2.0 is available for 32b
@wizmart
I know but 2.0.0 is not the same as 2.0.2 i will try it today , but i dont understand why 64 bit is looping while win 64 is working. I hope soon every New Version would be arriveable AS 32 bit , many people i know only can use 32 bit on older PCs.
stucks at a black screen..seems to be a bootloop on my laptop..(amd a4-6210)
tried dual booting with ubuntu and windows..same result
but boots fine on my computer with intel i3 and nvidia card!
can anyone tell me what is the problem and if there is a 32 bit version that will work? i need this for development processes!

Phoenix OS wont boot and doesnt show any text after selecetd

So.. I just installed Phoenix OS on my laptop, using the latest exe file. Once finished, I went on to restart the PC, then, there is a screen / terminal that I can choose between 2 OS, which is my Windows 10 , and Phoenix OS. Picking Windows 10 would boot Windows 10, but when I pick Phoenix OS, it just goes black, then after 5 seconds it just restarts and goes back to the terminal. Reinstalling won't help. Turning off secure boot and fast boot also doesnt work. Please help.
.
If you are wondering if there are any white text or logs that show when I pick an OS on tge terminal, there is, but only when I pick Windows 10, picking phoenix, as I already said, doesn't show anything, just blackness, though I know the laptop is turned on because I can see the brightness, and after 5 seconds, it turns off and turns back on again (restarts)
My laptop specs are.. AMD A9-9420 , RADEON R5 M420, 4GB RAM.
Asus X555BP
have you tried this or this ?
I haven't tried any of those solution, I will try them out. But I am unsure on how to do the solution where you replace the grub file from ubuntu(?) because I do not have ubuntu and also, i do not have any knowledge about that OS. . Recently, I tried installing Phoenix OS via ISO using a bootable flash drice, and it gives me the same result. When I choose install on harddrive, it just restarts on the terminal, when i try boot directly from usb, it also restarts. Maybe theres some incompatability issues on my hardware?
EDIT: So sorry for not reading the whole thing, the grub files were on the attachements. I feel so dumb
Tried the two solutions, none worked. I will read from that thread and see if i can find any other solutions
