root for NEW 4gb version of Tab 3 Pro (YT3-X90F) - Thinkpad Tablet General

Hi,
I cant find nothing about rooting the version of tab 3 pro, featuring 4gb ram and 64gb rom.
I success root this tablet, but its seems dont works very well with some apps that can't be named in this forum, so I think the root is not "full".
I follow the Magisk tutorial to root, basically install drivers, and with fastboot unlock the bootloader. Then flash supersu and Magisk, in this order.
Someboy know more about this model? we can get a full working root?
Thanks!!!

Well I just used magisk. I don't.use lucky patcher but will give it a try later. All.the apps I use have worked without issue.
Maybe worth a mention. I run my tablet unencrypted.

Has anyone tried factory flashing and testing Android Pay?

Just checking to see if anybody has tried doing a complete stock flash and checking if Android Pay starts to work again.

It works with systemless root and TWRP installed. I use it with the stock ROM/kernel but i have root, busybox and TWRP. I don't think there's a way to use it with s custom ROM yet but now that xposed is out there might be way
You also need to be stock DPI. It fails if Xposed is installed, but I may play around with some of the modules and see if there is a way to get it working. Hate missing out on Xposed just for Android pay.

I wish xposed could mask a custom ROM and dpi becsuse I like using AP but hate running a stock ROM
I am using android pay with the systemless root and an unlocked bootloader... no problems here. Bought something the other day from best buy. It and the fingerprint reader work fine. I even have adaway and have changed the fonts on the system and it still works fine.
I can confirm that unlocking so you can flash factory images still allows Android Pay to work. I unlocked and flashed the latest security update, left the phone unlocked (since I don't want to wait for OTAs) and have used Android Pay with no problems.

Cannot use AP with Pure Nexus ROM, normal root, standard DPI. Workaround would be great....

Does Magisk / Systemless work with our root?

In short, Pokemon GO's new update is just taking a massive dump on it's rooted supporters and we can't play the game on the new update. Would our root be able to hide it and allow it to played on our phones with root, still?
Rooted s7 edge.... Pokémon go running strong. No issue. App is up to date.

Yeah I am, but I read somewhere that Magisk requires an unlocked bootloader, but I don't know if the Systemless portion is different.
Most people would say, forget the game, and keep root, but I'd like to keep both, as I've put a lot of time into the game to have this crappy company screw us like this...
If xposed and Pokémon is incredibly important to you I suggest trying the following. There's a work around for snap chat. Same scenario. You have to install and log into snap chat before installing xposed. Get it to build cache so it doesn't do the device check then install xposed. Profit. I'm not sure but it's worth a try.
I had it working then it ****ed my phone up couldn't get it again

The problem is that the new version of poGo is using the same SafetyNet check that Android Pay does to check for root.
Apparently, the only thing that works for this is Magisk (at the moment).
The latest Pokemon Go app is using SafetyNet checks, so this goes far beyond the Snapchat workarounds.
Ah. I wasn't aware don't have the update yet

Root Cloak won't work. I tried that on 2 different Samsung phones :/
I'm on tekx rom and when I tried to unroot via SU my s7 edge would only boot into recovery... so I restored a backup.
It's awefully silly to keep rooted users from playing. Seems like they run out of ideas to find GPS spoofers lol
I have rooted my S7 Edge SM-G935F using chainfire-auto-root ODIN method
^ New Pokemon Go update does not work with this root method - I have used rootcloak from xposed - also does not work. You need to root using MAGISK so here is my question.
1. How do I unroot my phone that I rooted using ODIN Chainfire-Auto-Root file?
2. How do I root S7 Edge SM-G935F using "MAGISK" so i can play pokemon go after this new update?
has anybody tried rooting S7 Edge SM-G935F using MAGISK method yet? does it work? please reply and please give a guide or step by step i am a newb

I'm afraid I have to tell you that over on reddit the developer of magisk said that Samsung devices are only supported if they're on a "custom" kernel.
Although I don't know at which point a kernel stops being stock :/

Working Hotspot Without Provisioning Check Guide

For those like myself that want to be able to use hotspot and do not have a custom ROM with it already enabled I found a working solution:
Step 1
Download this hacked apk here:
http://downloadmirror.co/Usp/CarrierEntitlement.apk
Step 2
Your going to want to paste this inside /system_root/system/priv-app/CarrierEntitlement and replace the one already there.
Step 3
Change the permissions on the hacked apk to match the ones on the original (so it functions the same way)
I have attached a screenshot from Root Explorer as to what the correct permissions settings looks like.
Step 4
Reboot and profit.
Cheers,
Jake

Yes because it requires overwriting a system apk. But this is easily achieved with flashing the SuperSU zip in TWRP
Can you explain how this is different than editing the build prop? Also what carrier are you using this mod with?

This might be a stupid question but can I unroot after making the change?
I suppose. It will stay until you change roms or update. Long as you don't reflash anything it will persist.
If I choose to root device only, Pixel XL, and apply this method, will I still be able to receive the software/security updates from Google? I believe if you have a custom rom installed, it wouldn't work.

What exactly is the process to unroot without a reset? I've rooted every device I've owned and never went back... Until this one. I like android pay... So no root for now. Would love to do the mod and unroot if possible to keep Android pay working. But tethering is far more important than taping my phone to pay.
Inside SuperSU app there an Full Unroot option that will do it for you

Just side load the OTA image. Wont wipe a thing
You can just add the following line to your build.prop file, save and reboot then the provisioning check will be bypassed.
net.tethering.noprovisioning=true
I'm curious why this method is better than the one already listed here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-xl/themes/mod-tethermod-systemless-install-guide-t3501448
The one linked above can be binded to the /su directory and will survive OTA's...plus it comes with an installer if you use TWRP

Helium ES and some other apps don't ask or see my root

I recently rooted with cf autoroot and installed helium which asked me to connect to desktop as though it wasn't rooted. I have had no problems rooting a note 3 and tab s with helium but my note 4 has 6.01 so I'm wandering if there's an incompatibility. I then installed es file explorer and lo and behold it doesn't recognise root either.
Titanium and sold explorer have no problem so I can't see what the problem is.
I decided to see if installing supersu as system might work but this option is greyed out telling me that I has system - less root mode. I don't understand the difference and when I check the same option on my tab s and note 3 this option is available.
Can anyone help me with a workaround whilst keeping stock rom if that is indeed the reason why Helium as es don't work?

Even if you're not rooted will not work for you.. you will get stuck at enabling usb debugging and asks you to enable PTP mode and it never pass this step..

Maybe adb backup /restore is the solution.

Try starting a adb server manually,
Run adb, check and devices, run desktop or chrome helium tool.
Chrome tool definitely works on my one plus 5

Not that I know of. Why are you hesitant to root? It's not hard. You just need to do your homework and follow instructions. We all had to start somewhere. Also, if something goes wrong, it's rare to really brick a phone. They can almost always be recovered.

There's no risk to rooting. Grab the MDM tool it's your always go to tool to bring phone back to stock if there's an issue.
I used to root for Adaway, Viper, and Substratum but with the theme engine now and Blokada (or my personal VPN) and most of my audio listening is not on this device I actually haven't rooted a OnePlus phone in almost a year. Keep in mind if you root you'll lose L1 provisioning (capped at [email protected] on YouTube TV which is a deal breaker for me) along with Netflix and other things that require Widevine DRM to play HD content. Also, having to update the ROM you gotta disable Magisk modules, disable substratum themes, flash the OTA, then reflash TWRP, reflash Magisk, re-enable all your modules and themes. At least this is how it was on the last round of OnePlus devices. Maybe I'm getting older but just simple flash OTA and reboot at my leisure and everything still just works...

You can also install DarQ from XDA Labs to dark theme more apps.
Quick Settings in the app store allows you to add a ton of more toggles to quick settings.

its pointless anyway
even on rotted OxygenOS most themes dont support it so there are always issues with themes
I prefer running custom AOSP ROMs as then themes work much better in terms of versions etc

Given there's no TWRP support as long as nothing goes wrong I agree. If during a flash or if the phone randomly wants to glitch out causing a bootloop during normal usage you're sitting with a paperweight unless you're in front of a computer with ADB and your files available to jump start this device in fastboot. No TWRP and rooting and flashing the boot partition to gain root in most cases likely fine but you're playing with fire without a way to attempt to fix your device while on the go. Correct me if I'm wrong and I might reconsider my personal stance.
In addition, I love this device for the option to root, but the L1-->L3 downgrade in DRM provisioning is a partial deal breaker for my personal usage with YouTube TV. I like to watch sports and being restricted to [email protected] is awful. I could deal with the 480p component but the lack of 60 FPS hockey and football are motion blur central. Keeping it not rooted keeps it at [email protected] or [email protected]

But like everyone said previously, root is THE thing to do once you got an Android
There's no harm for your device, if you fail, you flash a whole firmware and youre good to go again
