average ? why?
did u buy from china ? does this phone support VOLTE ?
how is red color model ?
can u post some screenshots ? is it easy to change language to english & move completely away from chinese ?

I have bought it from China inbred colour its awesome looking device and battery life is extremely good took me to two days easily and first time I found the battery stands 100% during night , never seems this in Android phones in my life.

well as i daid the battery for me it is average, but maybe because i am a heavy user of it. anyhow i have bought it from China, ither then that the phone is just simply awesome i would recommend it.

How's the Screen on time? Can you post screenshots?

Should be 6 hrs SOT with 4000 mAh juice atleast.

Nah. I can get 7 hrs, maybe even 8 if it's light usage.
Sent from my DUK-L09 using XDA Labs

Ofcourse. With light usage he can stretch, with heavy usage he will get around 5.5-6 hrs

Moderate usage.

4000 mah should easily give about 7hrs sot or more

Let's hope Kirin 950 is efficient because with the right setup, Mate 7 does well and I see no reason why Mate 8 should be much different.
See how Mate 8 owners compare, once the phone is in your hands and rooted etc.
I run LeanDroid and Kinscreen, phone is rooted and Google de-bloated.
Here's where my Mate 7 was at this morning.
the biggest worry is as always the modem...they drain a lot battery.
not many people think about it since it is "hidden" statistics

People with extreme long battery stats are usually those who use wifi only..
normal usage include 4G. I use no wifi only 4G.
The best apps for battery life?
Running on lenovo,Huawei mate 8,Note5, S6
Epic battery for me yesterday, first full charge, performance mode on all day, 19 hours up time with 6hrs39mins screen-on and 11% remaining when I turned in for bed. Looks like 7 hours screen-on over a full day should be doable, in a straight line I would think 8hrs+.
Similar again yesterday, 18hrs on battery, 5hrs 20mins screen-on, 23% battery remaining.

Your battery life does not say us anything unless you are using wifi or 3g/4g ?
you would see that in the mate 7 thread people using only wifi would get very superior screen on time while we normal people using 4G
would get more realistic battery life around 4-5 hours.
I hope you do not use wifi since that consume a lot less power as you might understand, and the modem
is a "hidden" battery drainer which is not shown in battery statistics ( I wish it did )
Mostly on WiFi, but if I contrast with other devices we can still make a meaningful comment.
My Note 4, in the same use, would not reach 4 hours of screen-on time. Neither would the 6P that I had. The P8Max would hit around 5 hrs.
So far the battery life here is best I have experienced on Android.

IF you have been using mostly wifi I would be little bit worried about the battery life when using 4G for data.
Also the software is still in early phase ..so big improvements can be made still in most areas.. battery life and camera etc.
battery life also depends on your usage pattern concerning apps. independent from wifi vs 3g/4g ull get far less SOT if u use cpu/gpu intensive apps all the time. so a direct comparison with other devices from the same user with identical usage patterns makes sense

Mind posting more screen shot of battery life of your usage? I am very interested. Battery chart + sot. Thanks.
I'm sure with time and people getting their hands on the phone, battery life will only improve. I avg 1d 4-5 hours with 6-8hr sot on my note 3 with 4g but the phone has been out for a long time
The Note 3 had pretty good battery life, from memory when I moved to Note 4 there was a reasonable regression there.
After a couple of charges and latest firmware update my battery life has been stunning. Yesterday/day before yesterday I went 36hrs on a single charge and had 6.5hrs screen-on. That's totally unprecedented on Android for me. Today I am down to 60% and have had 4.5hrs screen-on. For me at least is a new high bar for Android battery life.

Yesterday's battery report - 18hrs on battery, 7hrs20mins SOT, 17% remaining (another hour and a half or so or SOT for general use I would think). Indoors, WiFi, low screen brightness etc, but nevertheless destroying every other Android I've ever owned. Spent 50mins playing some emulator games towards the end - Wipeout Pure (PPSSPP) and Fire Emblem Path of Radiance (Gamecube game in dev build of Dolphin). They got the phone warm and were, as you would expect, much heavier drains than browsing and so forth (probably more so than higher end native Android games as they stretch the CPU as well). For those interested Path of Radiance played seemingly perfect for the first level proper of gameplay, overclock set to 0.2.
wait, ure able to overclock the cpu already? nice

No, sorry if that was unclear, that's a change in Dolphin itself. I'm a bit in shock at how well Fire Emblem is running on a phone.

Impressive screen in time!

I'm very impressed with the screen on time so far on this phone! I am getting on average 7+ hours of SOT which is so much better than any Android phone I have ever used. Anyone else having great battery life on this phone?

I also got couple days ago almost same. It was 6hours and still 28% battery left. WiFi & BT off, GPS at battery saver mode. Power consumption mode was performance and using LTE/4G. Lot of better than example Huawei P9.

ATM You can calculate from that what it would be @0% Its insane... And only using 4G, no WiFi at all.. Signals are 2-3 bars so not evem best signals, lol. I though Samsung Galaxy S7 had great battery but this is insane. Im using Facebook, Messenger, Whatsapp, Chrome etc. All are battery eaters and still... Thanks Huawei!

I dont know either. Im really suprised. Havent ever seen phone with 3000mah battery and this great battery life. Dont know how much better is Li-Po battery than Li-Ion. Manufacters started using Li-Po's on this year after Q1/2. Ofcourse i think that newer battery type (Li-Po) would be also better but questions is how much better it is on paper?

This 1% drop overnight was in ultra mode? Or did you leave everything ON and just locked the screen? Because I'm dropping more than 1%, but that's with wifi on. Next night I'm gonna see how it goes in ultra mode overnight.
Battery life is good yes I most often get 6 hours screen on time in 1½-2 days usage.
I am also getting really really good Battery life. 5-6 hours of screen on time with 20% battery remaining. I will post pics later. Last night i took a screen shot and had 3:28mins screen on time with 48% battery left. I am also amazed. some reviews stated battery life was great, but others only average. I can say for certain this is GREAT. I am in the middle power mode. There is so much autonomy on app controls that you can create your own battery life destiny pretty easily. So for so awesome
how you get this great battery time i usually only get between 4-5h of screen on time. Awesome tho for you guys, might be some app i'm using

Yeah I out of habit threw my phone on the charger on a ride to the store it raised it about 7% but the phone only tracks "time on battery" and it was only a 30 minute slow charge. It's still far and beyond any phone I've ever used

It's the combination of the 10nm SoC with the 8 cores that does all the difference. Runs cooler and has 4 cores for both light and heavy task to distribute the load. That coupled with the software optimization makes it a battery sipper. If you think that's good wait until you see the pixel 2 with the SD 830. I'm sure it'll be phenomenal.
Quite the opposite experience for me with my S8+. Compared to my iPhone 7 Plus and my S7 Edge that I recently sold the battery is not good at all. I have had the phone for 3 days now and I am consistently ending my workday with less than 40% left on the battery (somewhere around 35%) with only 4.5h of SOT. I can see that there are processes that are draining the battery in the background, for example DeX which I had to force stop. Note that I am not using DeX and have never used it so I don't even know why the service would be running. My version is using the SD835 chip.

Battery life

Got my XA1 Ultra a couple of days ago. Battery life is surprisingly good. This must be one of the most energy efficient phones out there. 2700mAh sounds really small but the phone still gave me 6h SOT over 2 full days. Standby-drain is very good, it only dropped 3 percent over 10 hours with LTE, wifi and sync on.
For potential buyers: No need to worry about the small battery in XA1 Ultra, Helio P20 is super efficient, perhaps even more efficient than Snapdragon 625.
Great info thank you, I personally think the battery life is great too. For such a big phone you'd imagine or think slightly it will drain badly but that isn't the case as of yet.
Really do love this phone ?
Sent from my Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra using XDA Labs
I am a very heavy user and I find this phone easily gets me through the work day, and I never feel the need to run for a charger. This is mostly on 4g, without wifi and playing some games, and browsing Facebook or xda, as well as calls or texts. And I'm almost always running with full brightness with intermittent GPS use.

Yes. It is truly remarkable. Both very good SOT and low standby drain. It feels like the battery is 4000mAh rather than 2700mAh. Performance is also good. People often complain over mediatek but P20 seems like a great midrange-chip.
Best SOT I got in a 24 hour period was 7 hours and 15 mins with 10% remaining battery, amazing in my opinion...

With moderate usage it's around 10 to 11 hrs.
During extensive use i get from 8 to 10 hrs SOT
Pretty good. It will last throughout the day. No doubt.
On moderate or light use cases it will last more than that. You just have to charge on alternate days. Its the best thing i noticed about this phone, you don't have to carry a charger or search for a charger in the middle of a movie. :good:
With custom roms theoretically it should do better as we can opt out of all these google services constantly running in the background.

I had actually called Asus hotline and they asked me to 1.)Turnoff the Zenmotion in gestures.
2.) Use the phone in safe mode for 3-4 hrs
3.) And always charge the battery to 100% and drain it till 20-30% (or even less if possible) instead of charging intermittently.
Now I donno y they asked me to this...but im giving it a shot. Moreover I have also installed Greenify app as stated above & one point to be noted is that a lot of Youtube techies have mentioned that low network coverage in your area affects battery usage to almost 40-50%.
Now maybe that can be the reason too..but im not convinved for such low SOT coz people above who posted screen shots also show low network coverage.

Poor LTE network does drain the battery like anything. I get more battery drain at office because LTE network is poor. At home its good so battery drain is very less. What i do is switch to 3G instead of LTE. That helps a lot.
