[REQUEST] XT1700 Original Firmware - Moto E3 Questions & Answers

Hi there, recently just bricked my XT1700. I installed the XT1706 original rom uploaded by dr.faramroze (very thank you) but I can't install OTA updates, and i don't feel confortable with the secondary sim useless menu.
Somebody can do a backup from his XT1700? Or just a link to download it, because I can't find anything but XT1706...
Sorry my bad english and thank you.

From this page you can download Moto XT1700 stock firmware use SP flash tools to install.

Also I'm need here so I want to ask you something I like you erase system and backup XT1706 from recovery. I found that site and downloaded the last software version (S503) I installed and everything goes well. But when I tried to unlock bootloader again the adb window said: This operation is not allowed and I wasn't able to unlock boot loader. Then I downloaded version S116 and I tried to unlock bootloader again and surprised It works. But I tried to install OTA updates and y get no notification of updates. It says system has the last version when is not. Some idea of what can be happening here?

Just a warning - those firmwares (at least the 2 latest versions S503 and S302) have locked boot loaders, you will not be able to unlock the bootloader with fastboot, or install TWRP/SuperSU if you install them.
Would appreciate it if anyone knows where to get either S503 or S302 with unlocked bootloader.

Use S124. It allows bootloader unlock!

In the end I went with the S131 firmware for the XT1706... allows unlock, but isn't any newer than the XT1700 firmware I originally started with :-/

Is this thread still alive?
If so i need help. The links arent working (they work but they dont bring me to the download page, instead to another website) , so does anybody have the stock firmware with them?
It would really help. Im getting so close to rooting my phone!

Here friend, hope you find useful

After flashing phone changed from G4 Plus to G4

I've flashed a stock firmware everyone else flashed. But after flashing, my phone's fingerprint and networks are not working.
In the settings, the baseband is also not "ATHENE_INDIA_DSDS_CUST". It's "DFLT_FSG".
Please help me.
You flashed the wrong one obviously. Which file did u flash?

That's the correct one. Only your baseband is different? Rest all works. In that case just flash fsg.bin and NON-HLOS.bin and wipe modem1 and modem2.

Tried flashing it. No success. Also the fiingerprint reader is also missing.
Even i have the same issue...FP sensor is not recognised during initial setup and also the setting is missing in the settings menu.
Flash the Indian modems doesn't work. Dailing *#06# shows only one IMEI number.Sim card is detected but always stays on No service mode....attempting to search for networks from setting results in an error.Service centre didn't accept my phone saying theres only one IMEI number and the bootloader is unlocked.Any help would be appreciated as we have no where to go.

Glad that someone acknowledge the issue. There is one more guy here at xda roaming with the same problem. I've tried almost every method possible. Still no luck. But for luck, my service center guy offered a free board replacement for the problem. If xda guys didn help, I would send it for replacement. Mine is also bootloader unlocked and software status modified, but he is okey to offer a replacement.

Which city ?I think you should go for the replacement and then update it via OTA when you get a notification.
Any Solutions Yet ?
Has anyone found any solutions yet !?
It is surely a Software issue
Service Center people are asking Rs.6500/- to replace the motherboard
Can't even relock the bootloader as i flashed the Nougat OTA and thus i can't downgrade the bootloader and lock it either !!
Please Help !

A few things:
1) As long as you are fully updated to the latest stock ROM, OTA updates should not be a problem. OTA updates are usually a problem if you have downgraded your device (like in your case downgrading to Dec 2016 firmware) or not having the full stock ROM, including the bootloader of the same patch level, (i.e. having mixed firmware) flashed to your device. If you really want to, you can use the latest stock ROM to re-lock your bootloader, and providing it's the correct stock ROM for your region/device, you should receive and be able to flash OTA updates without problem (as a locked bootloader will enforce you having firmware matching the bootloader update level).
2)I'm not sure how a minimal ADB/fastboot image is 900+ MB. Unless that mediafire link is pointing to the Android SDK which includes the ADB and fastboot programs, the minimal ADB/fastboot is about 1 MB https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
3)Unfortunately, repairing IMEI and loss of fingerprint sensor is not as straightforward as flashing the stock ROM. You may require the hw, fsg and modem images.

Well
1. if you have unlocked bootloader, you can not re-lock. i think this is the brick's reason. i had installed yes old bootloader file with december 2016 security patch, then came ota update to april 2018 security patch and phone has bricked, as from marshmallow to nougat update while bootloader was unlocked. but i do not know reason exactly, because first time i did stock marshmallow 6.0 rom, then came ota update everything works fine new security patch of 6.0, after that came nougat ota update and phone was bricked
2. yes there is difference between .rar and folder. just extract it
3. if it is hardware issue, rom can not change anything yes

1)You can re-lock your device with the April 2018 stock firmware https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/stock-rom-npjs25-93-14-4-march-1-t3608138. You need a stock firmware image as new or newer than your bootloader - we've seen many examples on this stock ROM thread of users re-locking their bootloaders.
The likely reason that you hard bricked is that you did not actually downgrade your bootloader when you flashed the Marshmallow stock ROM. Hence, you still had the Nougat bootloader on your device, which got corrupted when you used the old MM to Nougat OTA.
To re-lock your device, you must use the newest appropriate firmware for your device. Do not flash old stock firmware (including MM) and do not mix your firmwares (do not flash old bootloader files with new firmware). Of course, re-locking your bootloader will not restore your warranty and the process will erase your device, so up to you.

If you have a look and read of the stock ROM initial post https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/stock-rom-npjs25-93-14-4-march-1-t3608138 in that guide you'll see flashing commands that should let you re-lock your bootloader.
Also, if you want to re-lock your bootloader, check that you have OEM unlocking enabled in Settings>Developer Options (the same toggle you turned on when you unlocked the bootloader in the first place).
So the summary is:
1)Turn on OEM unlocking in Settings>Developer Options.
2)Boot your device to bootloader
3)Fully flash the April 2018 stock ROM (all files must be from the April 2018 stock ROM, no exceptions) as per the flashing commands in the guide, including all the OEM lock commands. This should wipe your device, re-lock your bootloader and let you boot with stock files. Attempting to mix files will cause your lock to fail or your device to not boot, as the firmware you flashed is now being checked by your bootloader to verify it's all from the same firmware.

[SOLVED] Fastboot Flash failes after firmware update

Hello all,
I have flashed my p9 lite (VNS-L31C432B390) to the newest B390 firmware using official update routine and therefore flashing stock recovery via fastboot before updating. Now I wanted to reflash TWRP in order to get root back (I had done this before with B380 and B388 update, never having issues), but when I try the flash command in fastboot it says "FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)"
After some research, I found that this normally indicates a locked bootloader, but both on the screen of the phone (when in bootloader) and via fastboot (fastboot oem get-bootinfo) bootloader is shown as unlocked.
I just can't figure out what may have caused flashing not to work anymore... Anyone with similar issues after latest update?
EDIT: The solutionwas to re-unlock the bootloader (just perform "fastboot oem unlock PERSONAL UNLOCK KEY). Thanks to AndreaEl for suggesting the solution.
i have had the same problem some days ago.
Re unlock bootloader and try again
Thank you very much, I'm definetly gonna try, although I really hoped to spare me this factory reset

Re-unlocking the bootloader did the job for me... Afterwords I was able to flash TWRP again over fastboot... So this can be considered as solved...
As for my update method, I found the easiest way is to get official OTAs (I've got the B390 as official OTA, maybe not yet available in your region) by temporarely switch back to official recovery. As this thread shows, there may be minor problems and root will be lost after update. As always, you are performing these steps at your own risk. These are the steps:
- get an official recovery image from an official Huawei firmware (search here on the forums). Unzip it and use Huawei Extractor to extract recovery.img from update.app
- Flash it in fastboot mode (fastboot flash recovery /Path/to/recovery.img)
- Download update via Huawei's software update application
- Let it perform the OTA. This step is likely gonna fail, no problem though, just reboot.
- Software Updater will state that the update failed and start to download the full firmware package, which is way bigger (~2GB). Update with this one will work though...
- Performing the update will unroot, just flash latest TWRP and SuperSu like shown in many guides on this forum to regain it

Welp, I searched, didn't find a relevant answer. XT1625 help wanted.

Bought my phone in Fry's, had stock nougat. Order of events that led to my current predicament:
1. Wanted to root.
2. Installed TWRP, tried pushing supersu without a new kernel, didnt do so systemless.
3. Tried again systemless.
4. ended up in bootloader loop.
5. realized i didnt back up, so i installed this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/rooting-roms/real-official-stock-rom-xt1625-xt1642-t3575895
6. Driver on pc no longer recognizes phone to the point of being able to see system storage, and also cannot open TWRP anymore.
7. The link above is MM. I wanted at least Nougat, since, i got used to some features.... like being able to freaking use hands free calling via bluetooth in my cars.
8. I just want to be able to see internal storage again, and access TWRP, so i can install Lineage and get past this horrible nightmare.
You guys are awesome, I am years behind most of you when it comes to these processes, I have to read line by line what to do in these tutorials, I dont even understand half of the acronyms, or understand half of the terms.
Thanks in advance.
P.S. Just to clarify, marshmellow is working.

So I went through and fastboot flashed all those files from your link to Motorola support.
It wouldn't let me relock the bootloader with fastboot oem lock
it did lock with fastboot flashing lock
I was able to reboot, now of course with a verification error boot msg
Connected to wifi and it auto-prompted the Nougat ota update.
Just completed the Nougat install currently on build NPJ25.93-14
Maybe you just need to reflash those files from the Motorola site, and connect to wifi for the 700+MB download?
there's another security update to NPJ25.93-14-4 available after you get back to nougat. Good luck

EDIT : Ok guys i figured out what to do, the phone wasnt being detected with MTP unless i switched it to charge only, then back to MTP, now i have TWRP back on, and will be trying out lineage. Thanks for the input, it helped!
It's like i said, the one in the link, its 6.0.1. , the kernel is 3.10.84-g061c37c
No, it never pushes notifications about updates with this stock rom posted on xdad, and no, i cannot use the menus to prompt a manual update.
Like i said, i can no longer even access TWRP, my recovery screen says no command, which i can bypass by holding power and clicking volume up, then releasing power, but its not TWRP, and i cannot access internal storage to put anything on it anymore.

Hmm, what 6.0.1. build do you have (if you scroll down to the bottom of Settings>About Phone, there should be an entry for Build Number)? I recall that for US devices you need to be on MPJ24.139-48/49 or MPJ24.139-64 to be eligible for the OTA update to Nougat. Any other different firmware build may not give you an update as the build's not recognised by the update server for your region/software channel.
However, as you flashed the MM firmware onto your device when you previously had Nougat, I would advise against taking the OTA update route. Depending on what version of Nougat you had before you tried to root, you may hard brick your device if you try to flash the OTA, since flashing MM firmware may not downgrade your bootloader, as such you'd be flashing an old OTA onto a newer Nougat bootloader, which is a really bad idea. If you can remember what stock firmware you had (or at least what security patch it was), we can try to locate the correct firmware for you to flash and safely get you back onto the update path.
As for the recovery, that sounds like the stock recovery you have on your device, which if you re-flashed the stock ROM, will replace TWRP. You may have to re-flash TWRP.
On a related note, on Marshmallow, you do not need to flash a custom kernel - you could flash TWRP and your choice of root manager. On stock Nougat (on the G4/Plus devices), you must flash a custom kernel, else you will likely bootloop as you experienced. Here's a rooting guide for G4/Plus Nougat devices: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...de-root-moto-g4-plus-supersu-android-t3587918

Off-topic, kind of, but I'm trying to flash ANY recent version of TWRP on my XT1625. I unlocked the bootloader, but try to flashing twrp in fastboot mode always returns an error: "(bootloader) Image not signed or corrupt"
What twrp version did you use and where can I get it, please.

That error is normal, as far as I know - the TWRP image is not cryptographically signed by Motorola, so that message seems to be mainly informational and alerting you that you are flashing unsigned images in fastboot (which you are), since fastboot is mainly used to flash signed images. Once you've flashed TWRP, reboot straight to recovery to ensure the TWRP is not overwritten by the stock recovery. Afterwards, you can boot as normal.
Be careful to flash the TWRP version/architecture for what you want to do - e.g. if you wish to flash 64 bit custom ROMs, you must use a 64 bit TWRP version. Attempting to flash 64 bit custom ROMs via 32 bit TWRP may give you an error 255 otherwise.

Downgrading from Pie(pixel exp) to Stock.

Hello Everyone!
I am a total noob. I have rooted many phone but never once reversed the process. Plus with stock moto being 32bit and customs being 64 it is even more complicated for me. And plus all this post about lost IMIE numbers and lost GPT makes me scared.
If i may, can I get step by step guide to relock my bootloader and get OTAs.
I have read most of the tutorials here but couldnt get the confidence to move forward(they all sound a little different)
I have moto G5 plus XT1686 indian version 4Gb/32GB currently running PE 9.0 (GTRCraft). I dont remember which version I had when I unlocked the bootloader. I do have a backup of my persist/efs.
I did see one tutorial but it is for 8.1.0 to stock and IDK if that works for me.
Thanks in advance.

Just wipe everything from twrp and then use LMSA OR manually flash the stock ROM and then go for bootloader lock procedure. Then you are done. And you won't lose any IMEI or Persist, so you will be safe.

No, download a fastboot flashable ROM, with a TWRP flashable you won't be able to apply OTAs:
https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/potter/official/RETAIL/
Use OPSS28.85-17-4 if you're in the US or OPSS28.85-13-3 for the rest of the world.
Follow the available tutorials for flashing that firmware and after that for relocking the BL (almost the same commands). Make sure you have Minimal ADB & Fastboot
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=746010030569952951
and Motorola drivers
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0WGdtNWubBJYnlDcWRBZXltanc/view
installed on your PC.
For the fastboot commands you can use this flashall.bat:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/zfh67uzfle9hsco/flashallO.bat?dl=0

ATTENTION:
You will need the appropriate version of the firmware according to your device version
You need the same or later version of firmware that you have when you unlock your BL
Example: If when you unlock your bl you was on NPNS25.137-33-11 you need the same (or later) complete firmware because you can't downgrade.
This is a part of the bootloader locking tutorial here on XDA. Does this make a difference?

You have to use the firmware you were on before you changed to a custom ROM or a newer one.
Never use an older one, downgrading can brick your device.

The "slot not found" error is normal, it's related to A/B devices with more than one recovery slot like Pixel phones. The commands should work nevertheless. Ignore the message.
I reloaded my G5 Plus with POTTER_RETAIL_7.0_NPNS25.137-93-4_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip sucessfuly. However, I was not able to relock the bootloader :
C:\Moto potter>fastboot oem lock
...
(bootloader) Still require signed boot.img
It got OTA'ed to Oreo 8.1 latter on, but still bootloader unlocked.
I just went through the flashing process to POTTER_RETAIL_8.1.0_OPSS28.85-17-4, same damned thing.
Everything works fine, excpet for Netflix that can't be installed no more and my bank software who keeps complaining.
I just dunno what to do to relock, any advice ?

Hello, Thank you for your reply.
I understand I cannot use an older firmware. I remember I unlocked my BL when I was in 7.0 itself, but when I installed the Arrow 9.0, I flashed the 8.1 firmware zip to get the NFC and Fingerprint working. So now my ro.build fingerprint doesnt tell me which firmware build i am on it just says "8.1"
I am confused what to do. Should I download the latest 8.1 moto rom and flash it? I tried the TWRP flashable rom but the phone just goes upto Hello Moto bootscreen and then bootloops.
I erased everything and flashed PE 9.0 again.

That's what I would do. If you flash the latest firmware it can't be older as the one you're originally coming from.

Flash all the system files while locking. (0-8). Older locking guides have only 0-4. Newer firmware has 9 system files.

Thank you so much ?

Please help! I need to relock my bootloader.

Hey guys, how are you? So, let me explain my situation - I have a Redmi 7A (the 16 GB version) and I recently unlocked its bootloader to root, and uninstall some bloatwares ...... I managed to unlock the bootloader and install TWRP recovery, but I was unable to root, and i tried in a lot of ways, in a lot of times........... I'm on version 11.0.6 of MIUI, and I saw that some users here were having problems with this version too. Anyway, recently a MIUI update came out, and soon it will update to MIUI 12, but I'm not able to install the OTA update, after the phone restarts, it goes to TWRP recovery and shows an error message - so, I would like to go back to my original recovery and re-lock my bootloader, but for that I need the original recovery of the Redmi 7A, and I can't find it anywhere........
Someone here have this original recovery available to send or do upload? It would help me a lot! Thanks

If you can't do it, look down and read lesson #3, download ROM zip and txt files for flash via twrp. will definitely work 100%

Soo... I have problem too with root and I make temp root (unsafe method) . Patching boot img is idiot idea now , same as re-lock bootloader . I'm DEV and i'm know (look on my threads if you don't think). Better idea for you is download global rom or rom designed for your region . Actually i wipe my global rom and I install rom with android 10 . I have english only without polish support . All rom's is here : https://mirom.ezbox.idv.tw/en/phone/pine/ If you want to unbrick your device , download correct rom , and flash . For your bricked device is only fastboot rom for unbrick . In google you find how to install adb and fastboot drivers , disable check signatures of drivers in your windows , adb and fastboot exe file (if you have windows as me) etc. . Good luck . Disclaimer: After re-lock bootloader , your software and data be bricked , you must flash all with data too . Make copy of data to google or sd card
