Was in the TMO store the other day, and the auto setting does not stick after the reboot. Maybe you have an updated version?

You need to have sim card in the phone.
All LG G phones exhibit this issue.
Hope this helps

[Q] Screen Timeout 2 Second MaDnEsS...

I got my 32GB AT&T Galaxy s4 one week ago today. Had to make an 8 hour road trip to get one but I would say it was very much worth it. I am having this maddening problem where a couple times a day the Display screen timeout keeps re-setting itself to (2 seconds) Unbelievably frustrating considering I can barely get the screen unlocked in 2 seconds and if I blink I have to do it all over again.
But wait, don't walk away just yet, there's more! I have already factory reset 3 stinking times trying to get to the bottom of this and when I woke up this morning it was back to (2 second). Furthermore it shows (2 seconds) in brackets like that so I assumed this was the default value but after checking just now while I was typing this post I noticed after changing it back to my preferred 30 seconds that the 2 second option vanishes. I'll snap a screenshot next time this happens.
Anybody else seen or heard of this problem? I assumed everybodys was doing this until I started searching and found 0 others with the problem. Is my phone The Chosen One?
Yes, i have it also and i found some forums where they discuss same problem, but no solution . Let's think what we have in common..
I have this app called Light Flow, do you?
Also which things you have on?

Absolutely have Light Flow. I never leave home without it.
NFC. Yes
Smart View. No
Smart Scroll. No
Air View. Yes
Air Gesture. Yes.
I thought for sure it must be Smart Stay malfunctioning but I don't even use that.
maybe it has something to do with Light Flow?? this app caused weird bugs sometimes...
wanna try to turn it off for a while and let me know if it helps?

Worth a shot. I'll play with it and see. Thanks for the idea!
I'm having the same issue and I also use Light Flow - any developments?
Work around
Guys, Did yo get this sorted? I had exactly the same problem which has been driving me mad but managed to sort a workaround which works perfectly. Let me know if this wasn't sorted and I'll post it.
I turned off "Power Saving" mode and it hasn't done it since.
EDIT: Nevermind... just had to give it more time.

Would you kindly post the workaround? I'm out of ideas at this point.
You all have LightFlow. LightFlow causes other odd issues with Accessibility settings with the S4. Get rid of it and for now use Light Manager. Its much better IMO because it doesn't need to be activated in Accessibility settings, it just works.
Well, I didn't have power saving on and was still getting the problem. I uninstalled light flow and still had the problem. To resolve this for now I use an app called tasker, I had it already because it is a very cool app anyway but once installed if you don't have it just create a rule to deal with the time out issue. My rule for example went like this.
If the time is between 00.01 and 23.59 then set display timeout to 2 minutes. This fixed the problem for me.
In fact you could create other rules to do the same but this does it nicely.

I set my rule to set the display timeout every time the display is turned on. I couldn't make it work the way you did it. I think I need more expertise.
Thanks again.
I haven't seen this issue again since starting this thread. Go figure. I haven't changed anything at all either. Still using lightflow in its entirety just like I was before and never changed anything else that I can recall. Weird.
Ok, I think I have this issue figured out. Here's how I resolved it:
1. Open Light Flow
2. Open Settings
3. Scroll all the way down to the section "Additional LEDs found"
4. Deselect "lcd-backlight control' and exit
I have the same exact problem.. Tried everything but with no luck!! Any one figured it out!??

Just to let you guys know, i was able to fix this problem but with a sacrifice.. I reset my phone to factory settings & reinstalled all apps except for Light Flow (The problem did arise after i installed it) and now the screen times out perfectly with the duration i set. :good:
I just hope Light Flow fix this issue soon because i got used to the LED lights indications,, they were very useful.
Solution (I hope)
It's light flow's turn on screen option. They're patching it in the next update, but for now all you have to do is uncheck switch screen on in the notifications.
I tried this tonight. Will post back confirmation from the link
I just registered so I can't post the link to the forum I found it on.
Screen timeout
So I have a Galaxy s4 and started having this same issue with my phone. I would set the timeout for 3 minutes but it would reset back to 0 after so long. I dont have that application you all are talking about. I did root my phone which I do not think matters.
Essentially there are 2 spots to change the screen timeout I found.
My device>Display>Screen timeout
and
My device>Accessibility>Screen timeout (which was set to 0 even though the other was set)
I will let you know if this resolves the screen timeout issue for me.
Thanks

I also was having the same 2 second screen problem and found the unchecking the (turn on screen) to (Switch the screen on for 5 seconds when the notification arrives) in each of the notifications in Light flow has solved my problem. It seems that it was the cause of resetting the screen time out to 2 seconds.
Can someone else try this and confirm that this is the cause???

4.4.2 bug fix??

Bug fix ??
When updated to 4.4 on verizon I noticed that the screen doesnt lock or go back to the slide setting I set it to after a missed call. This is a headache because screen stays on, it makes me accidentally open apps and make calls, and runs battery fast because screen stays on. For those who have updated already does 4.4.2 fix this? Also is the lowest brightness still super high? Or did it get fixed back to how it was on 4.2.2? Thanks in advance.
...
You post your question, and then minutes later post ..... as if we don't care about you. Pipe-down, please.
To answer your question, I haven't had the issue you're saying. The screen locks back automatically on mine, and furthermore, the Active Notifications shows I've missed a call. Check your dialer settings, reboot your phone, and worst case scenario, FR the phone.

Wi-Fi won't turn on after phone sleeps, sometimes

Hi!
My n9005 works perfectly fine, but SOMETIMES in standby when I wake the phone up, I notice Wi-Fi is turned off, while it previous it was on.
When I try to move the knob thing to turn on Wi-Fi it just does the animation and stays like it's trying to turn it on, but doesn't.
I have to restart the phone every time to make Wi-Fi work again.
This doesn't happen a lot of the time, but it's annoying.
Is this a common thing? What could I do to fix it?
Thank you for your time.
Open wifi menu and go to option.
then go to advanced, there is and option "keep wifi on during sleep". Make sure it says "always on"
The problem isn't that.
That's how it is by default.
I would be able to turn wifi on after it turned off if that was the problem.
In my case I need to restart the phone to be able to.
Factory reset and or rom reinstall

I did a factory reset and Odin flash of the same exact ROM that I had by downloading from Sammobile.
The problem is so random and seems to only happen when the phone sleeps or is charging. Sometimes it works for a few days, sometimes it will happen, no WiFi until a restart.
EDIT:
Maybe I should download another ROM from sammobile and try that?
Does that trip Knox?
I have a [Austria (T-Mobile) MAX] ROM (PDA:N9005XXUGBOK6
CSC:N9005MAXGBOK1) atm, I bought the Note 3 used and it had that. But I live in Serbia, maybe I should try the Serbian one in example for my carrier?
The WiFi problem is just annoying at most, it doesn't happen often, but I shouldn't have to restart the phone to have WiFi.
As its an old old problem google it .

I did,
Ive found people that the wifi icon is grayed out.
Thats not the issue here.
Please help me out here. Tomorrow Ill be opening up the phone with a friend to check for water damage if any. Since I bought it used.
If I dont have to do that, please reply.
BUMP
JJEgan has disabled private messages, so I can't really contact him on a solution or what he meant.
For anyone interested, I solved my problem on my own.
Enter *#0011#, press menu key, tap on WiFi tab, tap on the power saving button so it's off.
I didn't experience the same issue ever again.

Why does the screen keep coming on?

The screen turns on randomly. No notification. No rhyme or reason that I can spot so far. The Always On Screen is set to off. The "Keep screen turned off" is enabled, though enabling it hasn't helped. The screen still turns on randomly. I'm running PB5. I didn't have this problem running the version it shipped with. This seemed to start immediately after I updated to PB5. I had the phone for a little over a week before I updated.

Idk why it's happening, but mine is doing the same thing. I've had mine since March 1 and mine just started with new update too. And my battery has tanked since then too.

Oh good....... then I'm not imagining things. It's happening to more people than just me[emoji15]
Go to settings, accessibility , dexterity and interactions , easy screen turns in and see if it is set to on. I just toggled it on and off and haven't had the screen randomly turn on yet. Fingers crossed [emoji108]

That setting wasn't on. That's not it but definitely worth checking.
There is a thread on reddit about this and they haven't figured it out either.
Mine is doing the same thing. I hate it when it does it in my pocket and causes problems.

LG V20 settings reset to default after restart

Hi
I just bought an LG V20 last month and out of the box it has an odd issue.
I always prefer a flexible brightness and shot screen timeout and so i set the screen brightness to Auto and screen timeout to 15 seconds. I switched the mobile off for that night.
The next day i started the mobile and found that these two particular settings goes back to default (screen brightness 100% and screen timeout 2 minutes.). Updating the firmware doesn't resolve the issue although it added the app drawer which is a nice feature.
Sending the mobile to the LG service center was a huge waste of time. According to their statement the issue is considered a mobile feature!!
Does anyone know a way to resolve the issue?? Please tell me.
P.S. there were no applications installed on the mobile, i didn't even insert the sim card. My phone is an unlocked one.
Thank you.

I think you need to insert sim card first in order to keep the setting.

This what i have been told by the LG service center after two months of trying to figure out the issue with false information given by them.
I just wonder how to report the bad service to LG since the local service aren't reliable
Thank you
Same issue
I have the same issue. I am on Freedom mobile and have a sim card active. The wifi calling turns off after a reboot and my 24 hour clock setting also defaults back to 12 hour. Very annoying.
