What to do when USB port stops working for connecting to a portable amp/DAC??

Hello...........I just got the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. I tried out the Neutron player app on it. While playing music through my USB port and connected to my Oppo HA-2 portable amp/DAC (and that to headphones), I was in Neutron's settings, and turned on then off then on the Direct USB Driver option under Audio Hardware. Maybe doing that while music was playing was bad, because the phone then froze, and then restarted itself.
Since then, when I connect my HA-2 to the phone (via USB), the phone no longer plays music through it. Instead, it only plays using the phone's speaker. I've tried everything that I can think of, including clearing the cache/data for the USB Settings app in App Manager & resetting phone, but NOTHING works!! I just got this phone and don't want to have to factory reset it, but I don't know what else to do. I tried a different cable too and that didn't fix it, so it's definitely a phone issue (I'm thinking/hoping software, not hardware).
If anyone has ANY idea how to fix this that wasn't already mentioned here in this post, PLEASE reply with your suggestions. The Neutron player app is great, but just don't mess with the "Direct USB Driver" option, especially while playing music!!
Thanks in advance!!
Have you tried uninstalling the app itself? I just received S7 Edge and I'm also happy owner of HA-2 however I haven't tried it yet. Unlike you I'm using Onkyo app to play hi-res music. I remember I had similar case with Xperia Z2 and HA-2, when I selected Direct USB driver it stopped playing music. I think reboot helped back then.
I will try hooking up Oppo amp tomorrow to my S7 Edge.
Let me know if you figure it out.

niebyl,
Yeah I uninstalled & reinstalled Neutron and Poweramp. NEITHER will transmit music to the HA-2.........only playing it through the speaker.
The HA-2 is FANTASTIC! I tried it against (and also have read about) amp/DACs TWICE its price, and it sounded JUST as good to me. Highly recommended!!
Well rebooting unfortunately for me didn't cut it, neither did anything else I mentioned above.
Ok will do. I just e-mailed a guy on the Neutron forum site about it. Hopefully he can help. The phone is great though so far. I pre-ordered super early so I got it like a week ago. lol

I did a factory reset and it didn't work. Samsung couldn't fix it either via chat. So I'm just replacing the S7 Edge silver titanium with the S7 in platinum gold b/c I feel the S7 Edge is a bit too bulky for my tastes. I'd prefer the silver titanium color on the S7, but T-Mo doesn't have that one. Whatever. lol
Thanks again, and let me know how you like the HA-2!
Agreed, the OPPO HA-2 is an impressive little DAC/Amp for the $. Reviewed it with the PM-3 cans when they first came out.

Nice! Yeah I love its looks too. Very sleek & premium.
That's cool. I had those before. Now I have the AKG K553 Pro headphones (available for $169 if you look on right side, Other Sellers, though says Out of Stock Temporarily, but eBay will have them too for that price), which to me are the best headphones I've ever had, and much cheaper too ($170 vs. $400). Highly recommended!

How about trying another music player like Google Play Music (native USB audio) or HiByMusic (third party USB audio)?

danba,
It turns out the OTG extension cable I was using (with the Oppo 8" cable) went bad and so I'm getting it replaced. I'd bought it from Amazon last August and it was still under warranty I guess, so the seller is sending a new to me for free. I believe the one I have got messed up when I enabled, disabled, then re-enabled a setting in the Neutron player app called "USB Direct Driver" WHILE music was playing. It's a very DANGEROUS sub-menu option that should be given its own warning label. lol Now I know better.
Thanks again for your response! Case is closed.
Answer
Hey so instead of app manager or uninstalling. Go to your file manager look into your phones system or downloads or whatever. You should find neutronmp so delete it and whatever else you can find related and then go through the process of reinstalling. I've messed my phone up the same way a few times its disappointing to start over but neutron is as powerful as it can be for a unrouted phone and so this is how it's got to be hope it helps

Superman rom v1.6.5 crash

Hi guys,
I've recently installed the latest superman rom after being on the previous version using the OTA updater.
1. After installing the latest update my phone will randomly crash 2-3 times per day.
2. Always after reboot, media sound turns to max, even though its on mute. I have to physically turn it up, then put it back to mute.
Has anyone come across this?
make a clean install bro.. We dont have any problem like that. ( Im not using xposed )
Same problem here, but only after flash the Super kernel
Unsure about Reboots could be a 100 things, Try checking the logcat, Post us that after a crash. will give us a insight to what caused it.
But am on Stock, and my audio changes level after a reboot. I dont think its a bug, but more of a feature.
(Flat battery, put it on charge, devices comes to life and someone tires to ring when its in another room, You where unable to turn off silent mode, so you dont hear the phone and miss the call)
When the audio changes on first Boot, then you would hear the phone.
It frustrates me, as i reboot while in work, and dont expect my phone to start blurring out music lol!
But i can see both sides to this audio issue.

Help me with my issue regarding internal audio recognition

Hello guys,
I've recently bought this phone Motorola Moto g4 Plus and everything was fine. Until 1 day I cloned my old phone's apps into new one.
I had Sony's TrackID, which I use to search for tracks that were playing on radio. Even in this phone it worked great with external speakers. But when I plugged in earphones, it couldn't recognize a single track. Instead it popped up an error stating that it cannot hear any audio.
Since then I've tried Shazam, SoundHound, etc. These apps work great through my speakers. But fail every time when I plug in my earphones. Same error pops up saying there's no audio. Hoping for a solution from XDA.
Thanks in advance!
P.S. - I've tried reinstalling all the apps (Shazam, SoundHound). My phone's running on latest android build, Marshmallow 6.0.1
My phone is not rooted. I don't want to root it as I already use a rooted phone.
Have you get it fixed? I've been having the same issue

No Audio Output from 6P

Hey guys! I am not able to listen to music or open youtube videos or even do anything related to output of audio of my phone. On Google play music, I get "Couldnt pay tax requested" and on youtube I get playback error. I am not able to make calls as well.
I have flashed numerous images and the issue still persists. If anyone could guide me towards the right direction that would be great.
I bought the phone 7 months ago and suddenly this incident took place. I was running stock 7.1.2 when this happened by the way
Thank you for the help.
First of all, 7.1.2 is a Beta stage not a release.
Second, If you can have sounds on other options such as ringtones and so on, then it is an OS issue and a clean flash might solve it.

So how can you tell if it isn't a hardware issue and not Android problem?
I haven't heard of what you are describing as being a known bug in 7.1.2. You can try a factory restore but personally I would do a clean flash of the latest stable Google image and see if it fixes your problem. And I would use the flash-all.bat command like Google suggests rather than flash all the parts individually like the Heisenberg guide on XDA tells you to do. I don't suppose you are running any audio mods on your phone? And you checked the obvious? Your phone isn't in Airplane Mode, Do Not Disturb isn't activated, sound shows the various volume levels aren't at 0?
Having same issue, no audio at all from speakers, cant play youtube / googleplay music or videos, headphone jack does not work eighter, wont even detect the headphones, soft reset/ hard reset wont work, havent tryed out rooting and changing rom or reverting from 8.0 (currently running), apart form audio everything works fine, im still trying to figure out warranty as its still in its period, but without proof of purchase they are beeing jerks so far, so im rooted with some ideas is ive had previous experiences with phones, might it be possible for audio drivers to go missing or messed up? or should i take it to a repair shop and see how much theyll ask for it? or shuld i just upgrade to something better and let this brave hero die alone, maybe use as hotspot in my car haha

Headphone trouble

I got a strange problem and honestly I ran out of idea.
I use a custom Rom, resurrection remix for Oreo. I like the Rom. But I tried to change it to another and problem is still the same. I even try Pie, and Nougat.
My problem is with the headphone jack. It's working for the phone and notification sound but not for music.
I got Bose in-ear headphone. When connected, the device start spotify, witch is fine. No music coming out of it. I unplug, music start from speaker. I connect again, no music. I try to raise the volume, doesn't change a thing. I thought my headphone was broken but I also tried with different set. Same result. After that, I was amazed to hear notification sound coming from headphones. Making I can, headphone and mic work properly.
I reinstall the Rom, try to change to another, try to flash viper, always the same result. I try 5 different Rom, for Nougat, Oreo and Pie.
I'm out of idea. Anyone got an idea?
Thanks

That's a common issue that I faced when I flashed Pixel experience rom.
Ok, but if you revert back to Oreo or nougat, does it fix it? I can't seem to be able to do that

I recently started having the same issue. Music doesn't work with the headphones jack. Checking logcat shows tons of errors related to the sound device, and these errors begin when I insert any headphones. I don't know how to diagnose these errors. But it started happening suddenly. One day the jack just stopped allowing music to pass through, and no ROM, kernel, or known-good backup has fixed the issue.
I'm gonna try restoring to 100% stock as a last resort.

Finally, i'm not alone. Have you tried music through Bluetooth? casting? speaker? For me, all this is fine. Only music through headphone is the problem.
I try with YouTube, and it become insanely slow, less than 1 frame per second.
I tried 2 different custom rom, i did try a few firmware, a complete restart. I even tried android Pie.
I'm desperate, I cannot listen to music when I work.

You are not alone! I have exactly the same symptoms: any sort of media player (PowerAmp/YT/Netflix) all progress at super slow speed. The "time remaining" counter on the player takes 3-4 real seconds to move one second on the user interface. No audio is produced at all, but any video playback becomes incredibly choppy. Bluetooth is okay. Casting is okay. External speaker and earpiece are just fine.

I just returned to 100% stock. Huge hassle.
1) Had to make a TitaniumBackup and TWRP backup.
2) Had to move everything from my sdcard to my PC.
3) Had to FASTBOOT ERASE the userdata/system/vendor/cache partitions.
4) Then had to FASTBOOT FORMAT:EXT4 the same partitions.
5) Then had to flash OOS Open Beta 18, then re-flash TWRP.
6) Headphones worked!!!!!
Now I'm putting all of my data back and restoring my backup of AospExtended (decrypted). If my headphones don't work, then I know it's the ROM and probably need to start clean. Who knows why the ROM would suddenly freak out about the headphone jack, but at least I know my issue is software.

No problem
In twrp, repair and format each partition to exf4
after that, flash from the oneplus website the latest firmware (about 1.3 gb) I used 5.1.5 (the lastest non-beta at the time)
After that, flash whatever you want and voilĂ
