3/4G not working - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Since we moved from central Africa back to France my wife's note 4 cannot get connected to mobile data...
All was working well - cell phone/3G (only 3G provided) and wifi but now mobile data is no longer working.
Tried her sim card in another phone and 3/4G is working so the sim is ok...checked the internet and it looks like they are using the same frequency bands so if it worked in Central Africa it should also work here in France.
The phone in question is an ex sprint (P model) which got flashed to European standards - its modem is for the European networks.
Should I try to flash another modem and if so which one? I understand that I cannot just flash any modem?

Did you checked your APN settings is correct for your network provider ?

Checked them and found them to be absent...filled them out and now mobile data is working.
I have bought more than a few mobile phones the last couple of years and this is the first time I had to manually enter the APN settings...anyway, glad that it is solved. No need to flash another modem!

[Q] Compatibility with Canadian Network

Hello
I am in Canada for 2 weeks and found my blackstone with eurpeen SIM (SFR) is unable to to find /connect to any local provider.
I bought a new SIM from ROGERS, but this niether did not work.
My question, is the Blackstone compatible with Canadian network?
Thanks for helps
Yes, it should be fine. SFR will roam onto Microcell or Rogers in Canada - a PDF guide to roaming on SFR including coverage is at
http://docs.sfr.fr/guide/Guide_de_Voyage_SFR.pdf
Make sure your band setting in phone options is set to Auto or GSM1900+850. It might have defaulted to GSM900+1800 which won't work in Canada.

Mobile Internet

Hi guys, I'm from Sydney Australia, I've recently bought a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 4G 32GB SM-N9005 from kogan.com.au which they ship you a hong kong internation version according them.
Now I haven't came across an issue so far other than my mobile internet not working, whether its 3G/4G (btw my carrier is Vodafone Australia) so I decided maybe I need to do a firmware update so when plugged in my phone on the pc and updated via Kies3, however the problem still exists.
The thing I wanted to ask is whether its a common problem the mobile internet isn't working the current firmware or is it my carrier or is the device not compatible in my region.
Just want to know who to blame why it doesn't work, whether its Kogan, Samsung or Vodafone. lol
Thanks in advance

There are too many variables so you need to do more research.
Some carriers need a special subscription to activate 4G on a given SIM.
Some carriers have 4G on very specific frequencies, which are not supported on modems for other regions/carriers.
Some CSCs disable LTE when a certain type of SIM is inserted (and you don't see options for GSM/WCDMA/LTE or 2G/3G/4G somewhere in settings).
Some carriers also might have specific APNs that are not supported by the list inside the CSC - in that case you might need to enter the settings for APN manually (or use a CSC that has the right APNs).
You need to call your carrier and ask for the correct APN settings..then your internet will work.

Three UK SIM doesn't work with no data.

I've got my contract EE SIM and Three UK Pay as You GO. When I tried to connect EE with data it connected properly but my Three UK SIM lost the connection. When I switch to data from Three UK it connects and EE still works. Three UK is 3G,4G SIM only mode and it doesn't support GSM. I tried to swap the SIM slots but it doesn't change the situation. Anyone knows the solution?
I'm using this phone on Three UK. The data didn't work at first but that was because mobile data is disabled by default on the stock rom for some reason.
Does the Three sim work for you on it's own? Bizarrely, calls and texts still worked even though the internet didn't even though Three is, as you say, a VOIP only network.
Seems that the update in some way has problem on the radio especially for the 4G : on 4G provider only 3G network is used
did you checked in the engineer mode if some bands haven't been disabled since the last update ? I'm in France using the Orange network and it work on 3g and 4g. Also on the update you have to search for the mobile network once more and select the correct one. I have to say it didn't worked at first for me, switching airplane mode again and again did the trick !

Thanks, nn the engineer mode I have not see any problems, but in the build.prop in the system I have not saw any think related to the LTE network.
No chance I have tried to connect to Orange FR network setting only LTE as band , but the phone could not even to connect to voice network. Other user on the web claim that this happens after the upgrade to the new stock rom

Jiayu S3 Lollipop Upgrade but now no Mobile Data

Hi, This week I have upgraded my Jiayu S3 (3gb model) from KitKat to the TF Xtreme ROM v1.3 using SPFlashTool. The upgrade appeared to go well with no issues apparent other than the following.
I cannot seem to get the mobile data working on either of the SIM's in the phone. I am in the UK and have one EE 4g sim and one Asda Mobile sim (which also runs on the EE network but is limited to only 3g). The mobile data worked fine on both of these sims under KitKat but not after the upgrade. I have entered all the relevant APN settings for both sims but I get no mobile data icons next to the signal strength meters and obviously no internet access.
Is there something I'm missing somewhere or was there a step I missed when flashing the ROM.
If anyone could offer any advice I would be extremely grateful. Apart from this one issue the ROM seems excellent.
Many thanks

Thanks ever so much for that, I knew someone would have the answer. I can't believe it was that simple although I am glad it was as I am really liking Lollipop on this phone.
Thanks once again.

Can only connect to LTE and cannot make calls

I have a weird problem with a new SM-G935F (Exynos), which I'm trying to use in Serbia (Telenor), while it's branded for TIM Italy carrier. The device connects to LTE network instantly, but I'm unable to make calls, and messages are received only intermittently - data works properly all the time. When I try to connect to 2G or 3G only, phone cannot register to network at all. I tried flashing multiple modems both for 6.0.1 and 7.0 and tried multiple stock ROMs, after, of course, trying everything with a pristine initial setup...I tested the SIM card in another phone and it works normally. I can't test another nano SIM card with the phone at the moment...Can it be something with the CSC, since that is the only part that I didn't touch? Or is it most likely a hardware problem?
Thank you very much!
I have same problem on a 935f! Up

Hi Sprov,
I see you're from Italy - is your phone also bought from TIM?
It has everything to do with the csc!!
Telenor might be using VoLTE technology to make voice/video calls. Since Serbia isn't in UK, BTU firmware has its own standards and isn't compatible with your region. Same issue for me here. Reverting back to 6.0.1 will gain me back calls feature. Until an official update is released in your region, you will have to compromise this one feature(well the most important one). If you very much want the feature, the only way right now is to revert back to old firmware(including the csc)
Thanks a lot for the insight! But should that affect ability to connect to network when it's set to 2G/3G only? Since the phone doesn't register at all, only to LTE. Thanks again!
This has even happen to me. I was a beta tester to. Recently I added a carrier for my sim 2 which supports VoLTE. When I flashed BTU official yesterday via OTA there was no VoLTE and finally came to know that BTU CSC doesn't provides VoLTE. Since its an unbranded firmware. Reverted back to my CSC MM. Got back VoLTE also.
Waiting for an INS version of Nougat.
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
It turns out that, in my case, very weird, it was due to SIM card...It worked normally on all modes in 2 other phones, but in this phone only LTE as I stated. Once I put in a new SIM card, same carrier and everything, no problem at all.
I understand the problem with calls and VoLTE, but in this case the weirdest was that it connected to LTE at all, while it couldn't register to network on 2G/3G.

I had it for free, a friend who couldn't stand the problem gave me, though he bought it from someone, not store. Imei is ok.
If i switch from h3g to TIM, so using roaming, i have 2g internet and working connection. Weird.
